INDIANA: Evangelical Pastor Charged With Molesting Little Girls After Luring Them With Candy [VIDEO]

WIBC News reports:

A Rush County pastor, accused of molesting three young members of his congregation. 72-year-old Garry Evans, pastor of Baptist Temple in Rushville, faces three counts of child molesting, four counts of sexual battery, and five counts of child solicitation. Court documents show that an investigation into Evans began September 4, when a three-year-old girl reported an encounter with Evans to the police.

The girl told investigators that Evans lured her into his office with the promise of candy, then pulled his pants down and made her touch his genitals. He then told her not to tell anyone what happened. After the investigation into Evans’ behavior began in late September, another mother brought her five- and seven-year-old daughters to police. Both girls told investigators that Evans had forced his hands down their pants when they were alone with him in his office. Police say there may be several other victims.

The Indy Channel reports:

Rushville Police Chief Craig Tucker said a woman also came forward and said she had been molested by Evans decades ago, in a different community. That woman helped police pursue the new cases, but it is unclear if charges can be sought in hers.

Evans is charged with three counts of child molestation, four counts of sexual battery and five counts of child solicitation. His initial hearing was Thursday afternoon and he is out on bond. His next court date is scheduled for November 28.
