Mother Of Fallen Soldier Backs Account Of Trump’s Ugly Comments: The President Disrespected My Son [VIDEO]

The Washington Post reports:

President Trump in a tweet Wednesday denied that he had told the widow of a soldier killed in an ambush in Africa this month that her husband “must have known what he signed up for.” But the mother of the fallen soldier stood behind the account, saying that Trump “did disrespect” the family with his comments during a phone call.

The president was reacting to a Florida congresswoman saying the family of Sgt. La David T. Johnson was “astonished” by that remark during a phone call from Trump on Tuesday. Trump said he has “proof” that the conversation did not happen as recounted by Rep. Frederica S. Wilson (D.) He did not elaborate, but the claim again raised questions about whether the president tapes calls and conversations.

Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Post on Wednesday that she was in the car during the call from the White House and that “President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband.” Jones-Johnson, speaking to The Post via Facebook Messenger, declined to elaborate. But asked whether Wilson’s account of the conversation between Trump and the family was accurate, she replied: “Yes.”

Lets see, who do I believe, the mother of a dead soldier or Mr. Lies all the time?

    • five

Wife of a dead soldier, but yes.

      • Mr. Chips

From the article: Johnson’s mother, Cowanda Jones-Johnson, told The Post on Wednesday that she was in the car during the call from the White House and that “President Trump did disrespect my son and my daughter and also me and my husband.”

        • Tawreos

To be fair Trump disrespects most Americans with every breath he takes

        • five

Ah. My bad. Yes, believe the mother.

      • Snarky

The story is about the conversation Trump had with Sgt. Johnson’s wife, but the sources are Johnson’s mother and Rep. Wilson. I don’t know that the widow has spoken publicly about this yet.

        • ChrisInKansas

Part of me hopes she takes the high road and stays private, and part of me wants her to be on every talk show tonight and blasts him to pieces.

          • William

Let the poor woman grieve in private, I can’t imagine dealing with all this shit right after losing her husband. They were on the way to pick up his body at the airport.

    • Chucktech

But he’s got proof. I’m sure it’s all bigly and stuff.

  • Lazycrockett

If you think Drumpf going after the Khan family was disgusting you aint seen nothing yet.

  • Tawreos

It won’t matter, he already called it fake news and said he has proof. He will never show the proof, but every one of his supporters will swear they have seen it and the mainstream media is just suppressing it.

  • Chucktech

I can’t imagine who awful this must be for this family, but I am so grateful not only for Sgt. Johnson’s service, but for the wife and mother allowing themselves to be thrust into the spotlight to give lie to Trump’s no-longer-astonishing mouth running and disrespect.

    • Todd20036

In their own way, this gold star family is serving America as much as their son/husband did

      • Bluto

Yes, & they are going to suffer a massive amount of abuse for their service.

    • Joe in PA

Sadly this is compounding what is already a tragic situation. And to what end? His followers don’t care and believe him anyway, and the rest of us know how despicable he is. Sad, he really is normalizing HORRIBLE. 🙁

    • Steverino

Coming next: denunciation of both the widow and mother as “nasty women.”

  • Snarky

According to the WaPo story, the White House did not confirm or deny Wilson’s account. “The President’s conversations with the families of American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice are private,” a White House official said in a statement.

Except when Trump gets on his goddamn phone and rage-tweets while watching Fox & Friends, then all bets are off.

  • Rex

NFL players who take a knee are disrespectful to service men and women, but the President picking a fight with the family of a service man who was killed in the line of duty isn’t disrespectful? Forget MAGA, it’s AIFUA.

  • FAEN

I read this yesterday and chucked a book across the room in anger and frustration. I try so hard not to hate because that just puts me in a spiral of angst and depression but some days I can’t help it. I hate this man and his administration. I hate the idiot purists who didn’t get out and vote or protest voted. I hate it all and I hate them all.

Spiral or not I just had to say that.

  • margaretpoa

Gee, I wonder which one is lying. The grieving mom or the lying shitgibbon?

  • Todd20036

Well in Trump’s defense, the mother and widow were black when they made those claims about what Trump said.

While Trump is white AND male.
So, I think we know who is in the right regardless of “facts”.

From Trump’s and his base’s point of view, that really isn’t sarcasm.

    • Rex

Also, in Trump’s defense, he’s a horrible person.

  • Rex

Dignity has been completely removed from the office of the presidency.

    • Karl Dubhe

Gravitas too, but there is lots of gravy-tass to go around.

      • Bad Tom

        Fair amount of gold-plated-ass, too.

        • Steverino

          But plenty of grab-it-ass.

        • Karl Dubhe

Technically, isn’t that Pyrite plated ass?

          Or maybe Pyrate.

          • Bad Tom

Pyrite would be a poor material for anything related to a bathroom.

In the presence of H2O + O2 (water + the oxygen in air):

Pyrite ==> ferrous sulphate ==> ferric sulphate + sulphuric acid
Sulphuric acid catalyzes the reaction, so it accelerates.

Sealing the pyrite won’t help; it will cause the specimen to explode!
            Definitely sub-optimal in a toilet.

            Pyrite Disease (Rot)
            ——-
Though I’d pay good money to watch Trump use just such a toilet.

          • Karl Dubhe

I was thinking of the common name of pyrite; fool’s gold. 🙂 This was about a White Russian that had that gold foil on the drink, right? I missed a bathroom there. (although the drink did have ice, and there is some water in the alcohol)

          • Bad Tom

            Yes, pyrite, fool’s gold.
The pyrite rot takes time; much more time than a bar drink lasts.
Actually, I thought it was about gold plated toilets! LOL

      • David Walker

I didn’t dodge the draft; the draft dodged me because I admitted to my homosexual tendencies. However, the wrath, hatred, and bile heaped upon those who did dodge the draft Back Then was horrible. Starting with the twig’s regime, the “chicken hawks” were simply accepted by the same people who hated draft dodgers decades earlier. Cheyney, for example, explained that he had better things to do than go to Vietnam. And now this poor excuse for a president who gave an even poorer excuse to dodge the draft is praised to god almighty by, again, the remaining America Firsters who hated us with such venom Back Then. PLUS insanely loved by insane xns.

    • Droz

Unfortunately, that can be answered with: The President of the United States of America. This is the saddest bit of this entire farse of a reality. Donald Trump will forever be the 45th President of the United States.

It takes a person of low ethics to be a mouthpiece for Trump, and Huckabee Sanders has shown that she is at the bottom of the barrel.”

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

Why isn’t being fundajelical equated with being a lying bootlicker of power? I mean in general society.

  • Buford

I’ll state the obvious… Trump supporters deserve to be punched in the junk the next time they suggest that their version of honor and patriotism is better than the version which allows respectful dissent as a way to make things better.

Trump ridiculed McCain’s POW status. Trump insulted a Gold Star family. Trump laughed about getting a Purple Heart “the easy way”. Now, Trump lies about these four KIA Green Berets and insults their families. Nobody can reasonably defend that despicable behavior.

    • Stogiebear

You’re correct — nobody can reasonably defend this despicable behavior — it will be defended blindly by his fans.

      • Steverino

And if his fans are confronted with this, expect the usual breathless deflections of: “butwhatabouthowaboutObamawhataboutahillarywhataboutahowaboutawhatabouta…?”

Then you punch their junk again.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

He also didn’t remember his name. But even lacking basic humanity and incurring America (and the world’s disgust is still a ‘win’ for Trump) because…

We’re not talking about the Russia investigation
Or the trial regarding Trump’s violation of the Emoluments clause
Or that Trump’s said nothing about circumstances of the death of 4 Green Berets.
Or all the private emails used by many of his staff
Or that people are dying in Puerto Rico
Or regulations changed to permit higher levels of radioactivity in water
Or that he nominated someone who shares responsibility for the opiod crisis
Or the number of civilian deaths in Iraq, Syria, etc., since Trump took over
Or the fact that Obama has a waaay bigger penis

    etc.

    • William

I can’t understand why the solder’s name, La David T. Johnson, wasn’t written in Magic Marker on a 5×7 card so Trump could refer to it during the call.

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

Exactly. This isn’t difficult stuff. Besides his name, they could of had a few bullet-point appropriate expressions of condolence.

I’m guessing that any experienced WH staff was cleared out and Trump put in his own people and assistants who have no WH or political experience and therefore miss the most basic low hanging fruit.

I believe the shitgibbon throws tantrums as attempts to deflect questioning of his statements. It’s easy to see how he cannot articulate anything, even simple things. He reverts to phrases he knows, adds some meaningless decoration, but the purpose is to disguise that he has growing mental impairment. I’ve seen this in the mother of a close friend of mine who would use anger to close off questions, like where are your checks and things like that. Of course there aren’t 100,000 reporters combing over everything she said as with the shitgibbon. I just hope when the end comes for him it’s humiliating and painful, but by then he probably won’t even know where he is (not much different from now).

  • Natty Enquirer

That’s about as close to sympathy as Trump gets. He doesn’t have the capacity to understand another person’s feelings.

“He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

He probably also prefers soldiers who weren’t killed.

    • JCF

You know the kind of “soldiers” who were never killed/never captured?

Those who never served in the military in the first place!

“I like those who fake* heel spurs to avoid the military!”

      * Fake: Drumpf played varsity sports while allegedly being “debilitated” by his feet.

I fear that I may someday soon reach embarrassment fatigue, from the machinations of Trump. But not today.

She is obviously being used by the liberal media to make the dumpster look bad.

A Go Fund Me scholarship was created yesterday for the children of Sgt. Johnson.

The goal was $100,000. That was reached in less than an hour.

The goal has now been revised to $1M.

    In less than 24 hours:

The article does perfectly sum it up. Look at the scope of Hurricane Harvey? When’s the last time we heard a media peep about it? And Trump will cram so many lies into a single statement that might only be a few sentences long, that it is not possible for a reporter to challenge every one. At best, they might challenge one, so the others appear to be truthful and as you say, when repeated often enough are accepted. Goebel’s big lie technique.

That’s why one one hand, it seems Trump is devilishly crafty in managing media, on the other hand he really does seem cognitively impaired and I can’t figure out which is a more fair assessment. Maybe just an angry deranged man who enjoys sowing chaos and the distraction is an unintended benefit.

    • RMJ

Por que no los dos? I believe it’s both. tRump is a con man and has always lied about everything. History and investor lawsuits confirm this fact. His administration (think cabinet members and other administration insiders) are for the most part intelligent grifters and know how to play the system. I believe much of his thoughtless crap is because he’s an incompetent idiot that has zero social skills or compassion, he truly suffers from NPD. But I also believe that many people near him are just letting him be him so that they can achieve their goals and agenda while we’re all distracted by him. Let’s hope that the rich are not immune to Karma and that one day the chickens will come home to roost for all of those sleaze balls. I miss Obama. I could easily deal with the outrageous scandal of him using Grey Poupon on his hamburger and I thought Michelle looked quite elegant with bare shoulders. These guys are giving me an ulcer.

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

I think we pretty much can call Trump a national ulcer.

I agree that Trump was always a souless grifter, but he does seem cognitively impaired and getting worse. So I continue to wonder how he remains adept enough to continue to distract so effectively.

You’re very generous to accept Poupon gate, but what about the tan suit?

This poor pitiful woman has lost the love of her life, and the orangutang moron who sits in the white (trash) house has nothing to say but inappropriate disrespect.
    Unbelievable!!!!!

  • MichaelJ

Trump needs to be told that if he has proof, he should show it to prove to the world that he is not a liar.

  • fuzzybits

Just imagine how upset he would’ve been had someone said something similer at his father’s funeral. Or said his brother knew what he was getting into when he was drinking. Just fucking disgusting this asshole is.

John McCain says the Trump administration is not being up front about the Niger attack that left 4 US soldiers dead http://cnn.it/2zk26km

    • JCF

Rachel just had spot-on bit on how Drumpf consistently, as here, DIVERTS from whatever he doesn’t want to talk about.

To wit: is asked “Why haven’t you said anything [to us] about the soldiers killed in Niger?” turns into the (nauseating) LIE re Obama (and other Presidents) speaking to families of the fallen.

But all these days later, Drumpf STILL has not spoken about the soldiers in Niger: WTF were they doing there? What was the mission? How many? Who are they working with? [Bodies were ferried out by the French. Others report soldiers-for-hire there.] How long will be there? THESE are the questions we’ve been diverted from.

I’m currently watching Ken Burns/Lynn Novick’s “Vietnam” (recently aired on PBS). That DISASTER happened, because *not enough questions were asked* and the questions that WERE asked, *were not answered*. And the politicians *got away w/ not answering the questions*.

The Vietnam War (and the reaction to it) traumatized my childhood, in ways I may never be able to detail. REALLY don’t want to go down that path again! [To say NOTHING of our *Our Longest War* now, Afghanistan. Taliban is on the march—anyone want to spend another couple of DECADES there???]

the man has a lot of proof and can prove anything – can’t he?
