Rapper Eminem Unleashes On “Racist” Trump [VIDEO]

The New York Times reports:

The rapper Eminem struck out at President Trump in a video that played at the BET Hip Hop Awards on Tuesday, accusing the president of racism, hypocrisy, disrespect of military veterans and more in almost five minutes of furious freestyle rap. He also excoriated Mr. Trump for his responses to the recent violence in Charlottesville, Va., the devastation in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria and the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

The video, titled “The Storm,” was filmed in Detroit as part of the BET Hip Hop Awards’ traditional cyphers, in which rappers typically aim to deliver showy verses in a group setting. In his solo appearance, Eminem, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and baseball cap, name-drops Colin Kaepernick (“This is for Colin/ball up a fist”), Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Stephen K. Bannon. He appears to reference Senator John McCain (“Unless you’re a P.O.W. who’s tortured and battered/’cause to him you’re zeroes/’cause he don’t like his war heroes captured.”)

More from CNN:

The Detroit rapper challenged his fans at the ET Hip Hop Awards to “decide who you like more” — Eminem or Trump. He has slammed the President previously in the nine-minute 2016 freestyle “Campaign Speech” and in Big Sean’s “No Favors.”

“And any fan of mine who’s a supporter of his, I’m drawing in the sand a line, you’re either for or against, and if you can’t decide who you like more and you’re split on who you should stand beside, I’ll do it for it for you with this. F— you,” he said toward the end, raising his middle finger.

You guys, Breitbart is VERY upset.

  • Gustav2

    “Breitbart is VERY upset.”

Of course they are, they are the whitest snowflakes of all!

  • worstcultever

The sheer ANGER. It speaks for a nation.

    • Gerry Fisher

I was very impressed. Kicked up anger in me, that’s for sure.

  • Jack Murray

I think I just became an Eminem fan.

    • j.martindale

I hate rap. Nevertheless, an enemy of my enemy is my friend.

      • ElenorRigby

Great, your friend raps about how he hates “fags.”

      • Goodboy

I’d just watch your back with your new freind.

To be fair though being homophobic and misogynistic was necessary to be a rapper in the 90s. To be accepted you had to show your hate hate for them. Of coarse allot has changed but that was how it was.

        • j.martindale

I recall that. I also recall this guy sort of backtracked on the homophobic stuff. As I said, not a lover of the “art.”

  • bkmn

Good. I’m not an Eminem fan but the more voices speak out the more pressure it puts on the GOP.

    • Tawreos

Not when those voices don’t speak to the people with the money that back the GOP

      • Gustav2

But if those voices help with real GOTV in 2018 and 2020…

      • Gerry Fisher

If people are inspired and organized effectively, votes trump money. For more info, see the marriage equality battles and Obama’s win over Romney.

  • Bluto

This enemy of my enemy is not my friend. However, thumbs up to anyone calling out cheetolini.

    • marshlc

The enemy of your enemy may not be your friend, but he IS the enemy of your enemy, and so might be useful to have around.

    • joeyj1220

And you just KNOW the mango mussolini will engage in a Twitter war with Eminem that goes on for weeks

      • juanjo54

He would regret doing that with Eminem. Love him or hate him , Eminem is articulate and a master at language and its use. Trump is not..

        • LaChatSayWha

Which is why I predict Dolt45 won’t go for Eminem. Liddle Donnie 2 Scoops only loves to punch down.

          • juanjo54

An intelligent person would not pick a fight but we are talking about Trump. Of course right now he is busy screwing people’s medical care, fighting with NBC, and threatening to withdraw assistance from Puerto Rico. Given his limited attention span, he probably will do nothing about Eminem.

  • TrueWords

You would have to be blind, deaf and with an IQ lower than Trump’s current number NOT to be angry with Trump and his administration…glad to see and hear that Eminem is using his fame to shed even more light on this massive injustice that is Trump

  • TrueWords

Trump used his fame to defame Obama, Rosie, and many others therefore others can use their fame to do the same against Trump…fair is fair…

    • When I was in 4th or 5th grade I read a story, the moral of it was “turn about is fair play” That has stuck with me for over 50 years

  • Roger B

Did his performance support LGBTQ in any way? Clearly our rights are being eroded daily. I don’t know how our community stands for this. Our numbers are huge and our voices need to be heard loud and clear.

  • safari

An individual’s appearance probably shouldn’t be the focus of a comment, but jeezis, he looks like death warmed over.

      • Todd20036

If it were genetics, I wouldn’t comment on his looks either. But he’s a drug addict and obese, yet he thinks he’s moral enough to tell us how to live

So yeah, his looks get scrutinized

      • Bluto

He looks like week old, microwaved gas station sushi.

        • Christopher

He looks like he smells like it too.

      • Stephen Elliot Phillips

Not to insult homeless people, but bannon looks like one

        • M Jackson

Go ahead, shellback just insulted death.

      • NMNative

He’s been dead for years. He looks alive because his body is full of cockroaches moving around and that make it seem like he’s breathing.
Plus, he eats the brains of dead babies every morning for breakfast. Really! I heard it on Fox, so it must be true.

      • yes b’y

are those liver spots on his face or just chunks of his liver?

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

Well, Since Eminem is white not sure if the Nutzees understand a white person supporting a black cause.

  • Tawdry D’Tails

Not a fan of this music genre, but the message is nothing short of EPIC.

  • Barry William Teske

    Oh look!
Breitbart didn’t get its paper towel throws.
    Nasty kind of wet dream…

I do not like rap, hip hop but i will give Eminem a thumbs up for this. More people need to get angry like this as far as I’m concerned, things are getting real shitty real fast people.

Yup. I’m guessing that’s the sugars burning. Same thing happens if you cook sauces featuring citrus juices for longer than a couple of minutes, even on low heat. They burn very easily.

      • Treant

(tugs sleeve) Let me tell you about the time I used pure orange oil in a soap that was high water and cured in the oven…

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

While I have yet to forgive Eminem for his homophobic laden tracks, I will acknowledge this is an impressive take down.

P.S. The pearl clutching over at Breitbart is truly a sight to behold. Bitter, sad and very small people…it’s a good thing.

    • TJay229

      I’ve always loved you! 😊

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

        Love you back sweety <3

    • joeyj1220

yeah… I don’t mind when folks I normally disagree with piss off all the right people

    • bambinoitaliano

Precisely! If we learned anything from the last election that gave us this current mess is some insist of being purist on their political leaning. No one is suggesting we go out and buy his album and start listening to rap. Eminem owed his career to the black rap community. I am not surprise where he stand on the issue of racism. He came from an impoverished background just like many of the would be tiki torch carriers that would easily blame their situation on the other minorities. We are facing unprecedented enemy of the state. No one segment of community can do it alone. If this pr by him can add to the voices of resistance, more power to him. Let’s worry about the leak in the ceiling later and focus on avoiding the collision course with an iceberg ahead.

  • barrixines

Fuck Eminem, he had his chance. We need some new heroes.

    • ElenorRigby

      He was never a hero

      • Gerry Fisher

I think he’d agree with that.

    • Ken M

Like who? Please list a few.

  • Todd20036

Compare him to Little Goat Rock

  • Tawreos

OT: Roy Moore is saying that his son’s 9th arrest is a political trick, no word on whether the other 8 were as well.

    http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/10/roy_moore_us_senate_candidate.html

    • ChrisMorley

So he was arrested for trespassing on land to hunt critters. I can’t see any political trick. Boy ignored the warrant and failed to hand himself in to be charged, and unsurprisingly they came and arrested him. His judge dad should know the basics of such legal procedure.

      • bambinoitaliano

Caleb is Eric and Jr. wannabe. If his father is any wealthier he will be poaching animals in Africa. A projection of their hatred towards their fathers by taking down what they perceive as powerful predators they do not have the balls to confront at home.

      • Tawreos

The same judge that has gotten thrown off the bench twice for violating the constitution he swore to uphold?

    • Danieruw

Fool me 8 times, shame on you. Fool me 9 or more times, shame on me!

  • TimCA

Has he ever really faced up to (not to mention even bothering to apologize for) his past anti-gay lyrics?

    • Ken M

Elton John Has stood by him about that entire controversy. http://attitude.co.uk/elton-john-slams-claims-rapper-eminem-is-homophobic/ With support from EJ, its difficult for me to bad mouth the rapper.

      • Ken M
      • TimCA

Couldn’t care less what Elton John says. Eminem’s ‘I really wasn’t referencing gay men as I was screaming the most vile, crude,
anti-gay epithets into the microphone’ explanation doesn’t really count for much as far as I’m concerned.

        • Ken M

Did you read about them, or actually hear them?

          • TimCA

I listened to his lyrics at the time the recordings where first made and covered in the LGBT press. I read the faux rationalizations that Eminem issued years later when those were first published maybe 5 years ago. Unless Eminem has said anything further, I’m really uninterested in more explanations the bigot may offer unless accompanied by an apology. Now moving on to the next thread. So many bigots in the world, I shouldn’t be needlessly spending a disproportionate amount of my time on this one.

        • Goodboy

Eminem was the answer for allot of white middle aged men to turn up the volume and be cool listening to rap too.

          • TimCA

I know what you’re saying but if certain white men need their rap delivered out of a white homophobe’s mouth before it can be viewed as cool, well I have very little use for them too.

      • Ander

Hmm. EJ also sang at Rush Limbaugh’s fourth marriage. I understand John wishes to start a dialogue with homophobes (or that was his rationale at the time), but I’m not ready, personally, to climb aboard the Eminem bandwagon.

      • Mikey

Elton John was also against marriage equality because “he didn’t need it”.

    • Ken M

I so hate people who can’t change their positions on issues. I mean, not supporting the LGBT community, seriously? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6K9dS9wl7U remember!?

      • TimCA

Apples and oranges. You’re actually going to compare Barack Obama to Eminem? Seriously? While Obama didn’t support marriage rights he did actively support LGBT people in many other very concrete ways such as support for anti-discrimination legislation, opposition to Prop 8 here in California and similar anti-equality ballot measures around the country, etc, etc.. What the f has Eminem ever done for LGBT people other than verbally disparage us for profit? While Obama expressed regret for his past political stance on this one issue I’ve yet to see Eminem even take ownership of his words (slurs) much less apologize for them. You really equate a man who actively has denigrated us to Barrack Obama? There’s no equivalency here whatsoever.

  • I mean, good for him, but he’s still a pretty horrible misogynist homophobe.

    • joeyj1220

I was never a fan, but I did like seeing him as Robin crotch-thrusting all over the place https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/56c18a504eeaa3a7febe481fe86bd4f66ef0fd50ea4b5cd01527f76cff51b698.png

    • Goodboy

Damnit. Don’t make Elton John get up there and do another duo with him.

      • Rich

Awww, I liked that duet with Elton.

    • Gerry Fisher

Broad brush. “Used misogynistic and homophobic language a lot in the past”? Yep.

      • I hardly think it is a broad brush to call someone a misogynist who says garbage like, “Slut you think I won’t choke no whore? ‘Til the vocal chords don’t work in her throat no more?” I mean, this is basically like giving Jeffrey Dahmer a handjammer for a clever diss on Charles Manson.

          • yes b’y

            What kind?

          • Treant

Red with white swirl, apple cinnamon. Orange with white swirl, orange oil with a dash of ginger. Green with yellow swirl, plumeria with ginger.

I still have yellow (lemon), blue (sandalwood), and violet (violet) to go yet to accomplish the plan. And another six pounds to find storage for. Well, nine after you account for water, fragrance, and lye…

For the last 40 years of so I’ve had trouble hearing lyrics over music. Rap has always been a problem for me — I just don’t hear what is being said.

No problem hearing this time. Goosebumps.

And now, while California burns, Trump has something else to tweet about.

Where can I find the unedited version of this?

  • ElenorRigby

i would have figured he’d be a big fan of Trump, honestly. Loudmouth white rich asshole who loves calling people “faggot” and then too much of a pussy to stand up for his own words. Little tough-talking pipsqueak. This is just him sucking up to hip hop. Trust me, he voted for Trump.

  • TJay229

Black Twitter approves his message, so shall I.

  • Derrick McCoy

He’s still a horrible individual. Trash trash-talking trash.

  • M Jackson

I appreciate the message. Now I can continue to never listen to him again.

  • Ken M

I so hate stereotypes. So many LGBT make that claim in defense of who we are as a diverse community. Yet here are, doing the very thing we abhor the most in those we oppose. Choosing to not listen to or enjoy the music is one thing. To LABEL the artist, and those who use a similar method, based on his work is another story. Do you love every impressionist, or turn from all because you dislike the work of one?

    • Bj Lincoln

I do think he has redeemed himself from past homohate but while we should forgive stupidity of the past, we should not forget. As for not caring for Rap, I have listened to a lot of it from vehicles left on the street pounding my house with bass. I have found most of it is hard to understand and a great deal is sexist and uses real foul language.

      • TimCA

How specifically has Eminem redeemed himself?

  • GanymedeRenard

I think I’m finally starting to like him – past homophobia is hard to forget.

  • Kelly Lape

Having never previously listened to him, out of an innate prejudice against Rap, I was pleasantly surprised by his rhymes. Having Eminem as an ally is comforting. I was impressed enough by this video that I’ll be listening to more of his work with an open mind and heart.

  • Harveyrabbit
  • Gene Perry

Never been a big Em fan, but DAMN!

  • Bj Lincoln

I am not a fan of his or most Rap in general. It was like watching a bad open spoken word/poetry session. That said, I did like what he had to say and I could understand every word for a change.

  • JAKvirginia

It is times like this when you discover what your country is really all about — a rapper who condems hate and division and a president who promotes it. We are whacked.

  • -M-
  • Ginger Snap

Doesn’t he rap about degrading women and gays?

    • juanjo54

He is a bit more than that. Not to mention he is one of the best wordsmiths to come around in a long time. A lot of talent there.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Talent does not negate the negative. One can acknowledge his talent, but still hold him in contempt for his actions/words.

        • juanjo54

Not what I am saying. He has been criticized by many people, including me over some of his lyrics and statements. That does not negate the fact he is highly articulate possessing great talent.

  • Gerry Fisher

I know that, for many people, rap isn’t their preferred art form. That being said, rap has a very visceral way of conveying outrage and fury. I could really feel the rage in him. It may be “rude” or “crude,” but it feels like a far more appropriate response to Trump than false equivalencies, a measured NYT op-ed piece, denial, panel “discussions” on 24-hour cable news shows, cute-and-simplistic Internet memes, or “letting the enemy implode while keeping our heads down and saying nothing.” It’s a rhythm and rhyming way of saying, “If you aren’t outraged, you aren’t paying attention…SO PAY ATTENTION!”

  • Dunkerblinker

    LOVE IT!! STOMP AWAY!!
