POLL: Majority Believe Trump’s Taunting Of North Korean Leader Is Escalating Threat Of Nuclear War

The Associated Press reports:

North Korea’s nuclear weapons development is spooking most Americans, and two-thirds of them say President Donald Trump’s war of words with the isolated nation’s leader is making the situation worse. Less than 1 in 10 thinks Trump’s comments are making it better.

Those are the findings of a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, as tensions between the adversaries escalate and North Korea comes closer to its goal of having a nuclear-tipped missile that could strike the continental U.S.

The poll found that 65 percent of Americans think Trump’s comments have made the situation between the U.S. and North Korea worse, including 45 percent who think he’s made the situation much worse. Only 8 percent think he’s making the situation better. Eighty-nine percent of Democrats, 59 percent of independents and 38 percent of Republicans think Trump’s comments have made things worse.

Polls say that Obama is a Muslim , so they don’t count ,
what matters is our country has no leaders .

  • HoneyBoySmith

    The majority is right.

  • Adam Stevens

Two crazy-men playing who’s got the biggest dick with nuclear weapons?

    What could go wrong?

  • Do Something Nice

I’m sure it would be much worse for Trump if this was a global poll. It is distressing but not surprising that 62% of Republicans don’t think that Trump is making things worse.

    Fuck the Republican party.

    • HoneyBoySmith

      >Fuck the Republican party.

I think you mean the Republican cult.

That’s what it really is at this point.

Jim Jones couldn’t get the sort of loyalty out of the Peoples Temple that Trump gets out of the Republican base.

      • Tawreos

The thing is once they get all of the judges out of him they think they can they will most likely stop drinking the kool-aid right away.

More like a Nazi cult. These idiots would make W’s idiots look normal and moderate

        • HoneyBoySmith

          That’s what’s so scary.

I though Bush was rock bottom. Trump is so much worse.

  • Ninja0980

The people I feel sorry for the most are the South Koreans, Japanese etc. who had no say in the fact a moron was elected President of the U.S.

    • vorpal 😼

I’ve heard many Republicans tell people from other countries online to STFU in US political discussions because it’s none of their business.

Given the extent to which American politics affects the rest of the world, it’s definitely everyone’s business.

      • clay

To bad they aren’t saying the same to Russia.

        • vorpal 😼

Most of the ones I’ve talked to who are Trump supporters (thankfully a VERY small number) completely deny the fact that Russia interfered in the election, and state that anyone who claims otherwise is a leftist loon.

          • pch1013

Many Hillary Derangement Syndrome sufferers on the left are still saying the same thing.

Maybe the movie minion could schedule “On the Beach” some evening. He’d think it would be a beach blanket bingo kind of thing. The big problem, though, is that it’s in black and white. That couldn’t possibly hold his attention, despite the attributes of Ava Gardner and the youth of Donna Anderson. Maybe he’d be intrigued by the “Dr. Strangelove” title, although again, it’s in b/w. If he can make it to the end, those shots of A- and H-bomb mushroom clouds could well make him cum. Mel would appreciate that, since she wouldn’t have had to do anything.

      • Misutaa Roboto

And yet they seem totally cool with Russian interference in our election process.

        • vorpal 😼

They will turn a blind eye to anything, as long as it gets them the results they desire.

    • canoebum

That’ll teach them to leave the election hacking to the Russians! At this point, why not have everyone hack our elections? At least there would be some countervailing forces in social media, instead of just a Russian Troll Farm. Facebook will gladly take the money.

      • pch1013

For that matter, is anyone hacking Russia’s election?

        • canoebum

          • pch1013

Anyone outside Russia, I mean. Where are the legions of trolls shitting all over pro-Putin posts with comments in ungrammatical Russian? Where are the anti-Putin newsgroups being run from NSA headquarters?

          • canoebum

We’d have to ask the Russian speakers around here. I’m sure he has his own online detractors, especially from Ukraine and the Baltic countries. As far as the NSA goes, why would they tell us if they were?

  • BearEyes

    35% aren’t paying attention.

  • Tawreos

The sad part is that Trump is succeeding at diverting attention from Russia and other problems with in his administration by talking tough about nukes and he doesn’t see a problem with that.

“Before, dear. The Viet Cong were instrumental in Hitler’s rise to power in Japan. They snuck into South Korea and tunneled under the Sea of Japan to bring copies of Mein Kampf to Empress Okiko and her people. Japan later entered the war as an ally of the United States.”

I once worked with a 30-something dood who, in a casual conversation with me, learned that New Jersey was a state. He actually thought NJ was a part of New York. I thought he was joking and was waiting for the punchline. He got offended when I started laughing as I realized he was serious.

      • vorpal 😼

I think my favourite demonstration of American stupidity was when two Aussies from a talk show went to the US and asked Americans where North and South Korea were. They had a map with Australia marked as North Korean and NZ marked as South Korea, and nobody questioned the correctness of that. I was in awe.

    • canoebum

We live in a nation of idiots.

      • Gianni

I remember when Reagan was President, one of the late night talk show hosts (might’ve been Carson) had his staff asking people on the street if the knew that President Reagan was heterosexual. So many people were shocked when asked that question saying they didn’t know that. Go figure.

my neib moved to a large gated condo place,(55 +),next to a large milt base ,coastal south,,,EVERY VEHICLE was plastered with trump stickers…….

      • There is a 55+ community nearby, where they don’t allow children except for day visits. If the unthinkable happens and these elders “inherit” their grand children they are forced to sell out and move. I can not imagine wanting to live in a community that is fake. Gated communities are against the very fabric of what our country was supposed to be.

  • MikeBx2

Is there any doubt that Trump believes starting a war will be his ace in the hole? When his approval drops to the 20’s or below and Mueller really starts closing in, starting a war will be his greatest distraction attempt ever.

    • greenmanTN

No doubt that he thinks so, but I don’t think the reality would work that way. (Though I may be giving people too much credit.)

      • MikeBx2

I get the feeling that reality plays no part in his demented way of thinking.

      • Treant

There’s a limit. Those who loathe him will assume it’s a distraction. He might convert the neutral and weakly positive ones, though.

At this point, the neutral and weakly positive ones have proven themselves of marginal intellect and negligible reading skills, so they’ll go as the wind blows anyway.

        • David Walker

“Any way the wind blows, doesn’t really matter.”

    • pch1013

If I were a tinfoil-hat type, I would speculate that he might launch a false-flag nuclear attack against a major U.S. city. For maximum effect – and to create maximum jubilation among his cultists – it would have to be a deep-blue city, but also one where he doesn’t have significant business interests.

      San Francisco, for example.

      Good thing I’m not a tinfoil-hat type.

  • As if Trump cares.

  • clay

“All options are on the table.”
But the only option Turmp picks up is either threats of war, or actual war, it’s hard to tell from this distance and angle. The only option Turmp clearly considers to be unworthy of the table is actual diplomacy.

I think the more likely outcome is millions of dead North and South Koreans (especially from Kim throwing everything he has at Seoul in a final act of defiance), as well as any Americans and other foreign nationals who happen to be in the area.
