Treasury Department: Steve Mnuchin’s $800K In Military Flights Were Totally Shady But Not Illegal

The Los Angeles Times reports:

Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin took military aircraft on at least seven occasions without adequate justification, his department’s inspector general said in a report.

The inspector general said that Mnuchin’s use of the planes was not illegal but that he had failed to meet rules that require that military flights be used only if the White House determines in advance that doing so is justified by costs or specific security or emergency needs.

Inspector General Rich Delmar found that for the majority of the trips Mnuchin requested, it was “not explicit” that President Trump had ordered the travel, and the department did not provide a detailed analysis of the trip. Most of the requests included a similar line saying the planes were needed “due to scheduling, logistics and secure communications needs.”

    Lock him up!

      Ah, ah, aaahhh, not illegal…

      • Bad Tom

        Yet still against the rules.

Not illegal like foreclosing on grannys house cause she owed some literal change she forgot to pay.
        Mnuchin is a loophole scumbag

  • Paula

Do you little people really think these rules apply to him, too? He pays taxes!

  • Chucktech

…Mnuchin’s use of the planes was not illegal but that he had failed to meet rules that require that military flights be used only if the White House determines in advance that doing so is justified…

Then it should be illegal to “break” the rules. He should be required to make restitution.

    • billbear1961

      Was what Price did “illegal”?

He abused power–his position–and tax payer funds, for which he was forced out.

Why doesn’t the same apply here? Even the sums are similar–800K for this shit, a million for the fired shit.

      • Chucktech

Apparently, some Cabinet secretaries are more equal than others.

        • billbear1961

          Looks like it.

If Price provoked outrage–and it was right that he did–so should Mnuchin.

      • William

Mnuchin can print some more money to pay for the flights.

        • Chucktech

Guess he doesn’t need permission for THAT, either…

  • billbear1961
  • boobert

Somebody’s getting the boot tonight. mnuchin or tillerson? I’m going with tillerson.

      • billbear1961

Quite right, as long as they can so EASILY steal elections.

        • Silver Badger

Mr. Bear, you know I love you and enjoy your posts. I believe you said you are currently in Canada. Please let me know when you return to our country to lead the massive protests you are trying to incite so that I may join you.

          • billbear1961

Lead them? Even if I were in much better shape, I would be unlikely to return to take part in them, let alone LEAD them.

I still think they are your only REAL hope, certainly your BEST hope, to save your democracy.

If, however, because I can’t or, for whatever reason, won’t take part, you think I should stop calling for them, I will have to stop posting, because it is impossible for me to post and remain silent about what I think you MUST do to save your democracy.

Such protests could, as I’ve said to you before, in a post several days ago, put your LIVES in danger, as Trump’s goons are likely to be VIOLENT.

So, I’m encouraging protests that may get you killed or beaten or in trouble with your increasingly fascist legal system, yet it is unlikely I’ll come south to take part.

I still think they are your only REAL chance to save your democracy, but it’s unlikely I’ll take part.

So, what am I to do? If it’s immoral for me to call for them because I won’t take part, then I must be SILENT.

I see no other solution, because to post and NOT say what I think MUST be done is ALSO wrong–it would be dishonest.

          • David Walker

If you stop posting, I’m outta here. I need to be reminded what wusses we are, how standing up to the swamp creatures requires a spine we lack. We sit around and our keyboards and bitch and moan, attack Bernie bots and people who didn’t vote for Hillary, and that makes us feel good and doesn’t do shit. I posted earlier today that a general full-on strike, a national strike, an “I HATE WHAT YOU’RE DOING TO US” strike. And it has to be a one-issue thing. Scattershot will not work. Why is the NRA so fucking successful. They deal with one issue. They rally sympathetic people around one issue. They raise money from one issue. And they count on us for arguments that don’t focus and are too grand to be used. Ban guns. Really?

45 and his despicables have taken over what had for several hundred years was a pretty good country. Utterly imperfect, but you’ll have this with humans. We have tried to right things from time to time. I used to smoke 3 packs of cigarettes a day. I quit 30 years ago. But, you know? I could go back to smoking in the blink of an eye, at the flash of a lighter. It is so much easier to regress than it is to progress. We’ve tried to progress, and look how far we’ve fallen in just 10 fucking months.

Strike. Explain it, people, explain the very specific goal. Not that 45 is pussy grabber or hates people of color and wants breaks for his friends and wants to nuke an enemy and favors Russia and lies and lies and lies and backs them up with more lies. It needs to be specific. It needs to explain. It needs to motivate. It needs to be massive and even crippling. The “honorable” members of congress hope that they can shut down government by not passing (or even working on) a budget. This is not government of the people, by the people, or for the people. This not working for the greater good. This is fucking over the people who voted them into office.

Strike. Strike doesn’t mean you don’t show up for work. Strike means demands. We won the fucking election but lost in the corruption of the electoral college. Strike means that we have to get out there and picket, yell and scream and raise hell and not give up until absolute progress returns to this country and hope returns to our lives.

WE need to strike. Contacting the congress critters clearly doesn’t matter. Party before country is the way it goes now. We cannot talk to them because they’ve cut us off. We cannot compromise because they cannot abide that word. We cannot appeal to the president because he’s one of them and is more of an asshole than any citizen deserves.

Fuck respect. That’s got us where exactly? Fuck tolerance. That’s got us where exactly? We need to get this country back into working order.

And I need to stop writing. You stay right where you are. We need people outside of the country who once were inside the country to show us, tell us, encourage us. Please don’t leave us now.

          • billbear1961

I know you’ve seen my extremely repetitive posts about what the demands should be, the bare minimum to be demanded.

If it MUST be reduced to ONE demand, I think it should be public access to his financial records, since he’s so TERRIFIED of people seeing them. They must contain evidence of a HOST of crimes.

While demanding those records, people should make the point that his policies, his party’s policies, if enacted, will harm MILLIONS, will lead to needless suffering and misery for MILLIONS, to premature DEATH for THOUSANDS every year!

Nothing can justify the ruthless BRUTALITY they have in mind, the pillage of the nation’s coffers SOLELY for the benefit of the richest few, the loss of EQUAL protection for MILLIONS, the establishment of majoritarian TYRANNY!!

Silver Badger has a point: how can I call for what I will probably not take part in? But, at the same time, how can I post on this site and not tell you what I think you MUST do to save your democracy?! It places me in an IMPOSSIBLE situation! I cannot talk to you all and not say what I think you MUST do to save your democracy, but how can I ask you all to do what I will not likely take part in?!

“Get out there and PROTEST!” cries the bear, safe and sound in Montreal.

But if I don’t tell you I think massive and relentless protests are your best, perhaps your ONLY, chance to save yourselves, I fail totally in my MORAL DUTY as a FRIEND to tell you what I believe YOU MUST HEAR to avoid CATASTROPHE!!

          • Silver Badger

Please don’t put words in my mouth sir. I asked if I could join you in the protests and nothing more.

          • billbear1961

Yes, I can see from Bad Tom’s reply to you that your post was basically a (semi-humorous?) “Come lead us in the protests you’re calling for, Mr. Bear!”

I inferred a criticism in your post that wasn’t there, SB, because posters on Political Wire have accused me of hypocrisy when I call for protests I won’t take part in because I’m in Canada. I am very sensitive to this charge because I believe there is some truth to it. It’s one of the main reasons I feel like I should stop posting: I feel I must say I believe protests are absolutely necessary, but it is very awkward for me to make demands on you in the States when I’m not there to take a direct part. There is something hypocritical about it. BUT if I don’t say what I think you MUST do to save your democracy, I fail you as a friend–I’m not doing my moral duty. It is a difficult, very frustrating position to find oneself in–it’s a moral dilemma. No matter what I do I’m in the wrong. Where do I get off demanding YOU all protest, when I’m not there to take part? But I would be dishonest if I didn’t tell you I think massive and relentless protests are the best, maybe the only, way for you to save your democracy!

Someone on this site yesterday asked me what *I* am doing to help. Well, besides posting my ADVICE, very little, except for making modest financial contributions during elections and calling my representatives in Congress (to tell their aides what I want them to do).

I’m sorry if I gave you offense by reading into your words what you did NOT mean to say or imply.

          • Silver Badger

No problem. What we need is a leader and, unfortunately we don’t have one.

          • billbear1961

You are FAST in replying, sweetie!

No, you don’t have a leader, and that’s a national TRAGEDY.

It’s disgraceful the Democrats are not providing REAL leadership against Trump’s ongoing coup!

FBI terrorism unit says ‘black identity extremists’ pose violent threat

        – Leaked report, citing concerns of retaliation over ‘perceptions of
police brutality against African Americans’, prompts fears of crackdown on activists
        https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/oct/06/fbi-black-identity-extremists-racial-profiling

Watch out: FBI’s white nationalism is official
‘The US government has declared “black identity extremists” a violent threat, according to a leaked report from the FBI’s counter-terrorism division.
The assessment, obtained by Foreign Policy, has raised fears about federal authorities racially profiling activists and aggressively prosecuting civil rights protesters.
The report, dated August 2017 and compiled by the Domestic Terrorism Analysis Unit, said: “The FBI assesses it is very likely Black Identity Extremist (BIE) perceptions of police brutality against African Americans spurred an increase in premeditated, retaliatory lethal violence against law enforcement and will very likely serve as justification for such violence.” Incidents of “alleged police abuse” have “continued to feed the resurgence in ideologically motivated, violent criminal activity within the BIE movement”.

    Uh no homocon.
You and other assholes who think this is a gotcha moment fail to mention a couple of things.
    1) These folks weren’t there to buy anything from the looks of it, only to harass others.
2)Unlike LGBT folks, if these guys/gals HAD been refused service solely because they were Christian, they’d have grounds to sue in all 50 states.
Not the case for LGBT citizens, which can be discriminated against in more then half of the states in this country, something your side wants to make legal in all 50.
Last but not least… fuck you.
You are an ungrateful traitor to our community and if the day comes where they try to kill us all, you will be on that train too, homocon or not.

(PS: I once held a large Thanksgiving dinner with appetizers and drinks and the whole smash. I was later asked why I forgot vegetables aside from corn or what was mixed with other things. It’s a Midwestern mistake.)

          • UrsusArctos

On the Coast there’s shrimp/oysters at any decent holiday party and venison/quail if they’re delta redneck/Cajun. Oh! and deviled eggs.

I’m making gnocchi with turkey breast and pesto, a couple of tomatoes, and just a little bit of feta (because a sauce made from tomatoes and feta is a very good sauce indeed). Lemon and garlic broccoli. Spinach dip to start. And pumpkin pie.

    • safari
      • Lars Littlefield

        Yup. That’s it.

    • gaycuckhubby

      Terrifying!

    • SoCalGal20

Heh, I was on flight to Boston and when we got into the Boston area the pilot warned us it was “a little windy”. Anybody who is familiar with Logan knows it’s on the water. Our plane was basically doing the shimmy as it was coming in to the runway, then we smacked the runway HARD and swerved a bit. Not at all pleasant but we at least we didn’t go into the harbor! (Logan is one of my least favorite airports)

      • safari

I returned to my hometown via its local airport (formerly tri-city airport). It was the first flight out of Detroit that morning, as I had a red eye from LAX. There were a half dozen of us on the plane not counting the crew. As we were about to touch down, the engines kicked back onto full and I felt my body press into the seat. The pilot announced it was a visibility issue, and I spent the next few minutes staring at the emergency exit I was seated by. Well, shortly thereafter, the landing happened without a hitch. As I looked out my window at the luggage vehicle with deer antlers on it and an ad for “Sugar! The Natural Choice” I realized I was home.

      • I hate the Juneau airport. The approach is over the ocean, and the airport is snuggled up close and friendly to a very tall mountain. I’ve never had a smooth landing there, and luckily that is no longer a connecting airport on a major route.

        • SoCalGal20

I don’t foresee myself going to Juneau anytime soon but good to know!

    • Bad Tom

      A wild ride.
But well within the ability of the plane and pilot.
      ——-
Wait till you read about some encounters by small business jets who were unlucky enough to be near a jumbo jet. When your twist and shimmy is three dimensional you might rethink what wild means.

      Like this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4341170/Inside-private-jet-fell-3000m-miracle-landing.html

      • safari

Turbulence from a jet caused the Queens crash in November of 2001. The NTSB reports the pilot over-corrected with his pedals, I believe breaking off the tail rudder.

        • Tomcat

Lead to new rules about takeoffs after a large jet.

        • Bad Tom

          Don’t do that!

O/T: I am finding myself having very little patience and tolerance or guys like mnunchin in the everyday world.

I spend two 8 hour days a week for an internship thats an hour away for social work dealing with chronically mentally ill people that are either bipolar 1, schizo-effective or schizophrenic, and i have more tolerance and patience for them than these people.

I can deal with more extensive problems compared to the whining and “persecution” of the legion of doom that is this administration, it is ironic or typical ?

    • TampaDink

I suspect that the reason for your disparity in ability to deal with these two groups is that the patients that you interact with at your internship are genuinely mentally ill, whereas the deplorable people associated with this regime are just evil.

      • Lars Littlefield

        Just evil or just assholes?

        • TampaDink

I personally thought Halley was given the job to get her out of a governorship. As for the international stage, I have no idea other than her being upset that lgbt folk don’t like her… and she then recently voted against a condemnation for nations executing gay people.

Grimy, grubby, filthy, mucky, stained, unwashed, greasy, smeared, smeary, spotted, smudged, cloudy, muddy, dusty, sooty; unclean, sullied, impure, tarnished, polluted, contaminated, defiled, foul, unhygienic, unsanitary; informal cruddy, yucky, icky, grotty, grungy; literary befouled, besmirched, begrimed

[Also] dishonest, deceitful, unscrupulous, dishonorable, unsporting, ungentlemanly, below the belt, unfair, unethical, unprincipled; crooked, double-dealing, underhanded

I hear Facebook is testing a new BULLSHIT button, is that true?
Sure would be helpful, but then isn’t it all bullshit?

    • Leo

Discussed earlier. Blog consensus is the bullshit button is bullshit.

      Just like Facebook.

      • safari

Nah. Many years ago we learned Facebook undertook an experiment by directing positive content to people and doing nothing different with a control group. Facebook found it can make people happier by editing what they see. Facebook is far from bullshit — especially because it knows all.

        • Tomcat

A while back Google said they were going to place sites according to how honest they were. They got all kinds of guff and never did it.

Facebook however I can do without.

          • safari

Oh, it is highly unlikely you need an account on facebook for them to not know of you.

          • Tomcat

I know and I hate it that businesses have turned to it and collecting peoples information.

          • Tomcat

I hate it when in order to do something on the net they want me to go to Facebook.

          • Tomcat

Maybe I will do some research on Facebooks other talents.

          • UrsusArctos

Every page you visit which loads a “like” button is noting a “profile” is visiting that page and sends a bit of tracking info back to FB. It may not know you as a FB user, but they know much more about you than anyone is comfortable thinking about. I have blacklisted any FB/Instagram IP addresses I run across, kill those that get through with either AdBlock+ and the firewall app Little Snitch. Even doing all that I know they’re selling my “profile” to advertisers and gawd knows what else.

          • safari

            Shh.

I think Bannon is still actively puppeteering/manipulating Dumpy’s brain (what there is of it) while also undermining him in pursuit of B’s megalomaniacal vision of division/chaos/destruction. All Dumpy really cares about is stealing money. (And settling scores – oh yeah, that march with all the broads, so much bigger than my inauguration? • Tomcat

I still say the definition of an Independent is a republican that is afraid to stand up and be a republican in public. so they hide behind the party.

          • Lazycrockett

The red is the final voter results which is Drumpf winning by .07. The blue is all the polling showing Hillary ahead in Wi before the election.

            yes.

            Thanks, confused me too.

      • greenmanTN

It really pisses me off when they say everything BUT that happened. Here is what I believe to be true. Even if there were CLEAR definitive evidence the vote was hacked, there would be STRONG resistance to openly admitting it due to the political chaos it would cause, plus there is no current mechanism in our laws to deal with it. The government (both parties) favors the stability of the current situation, even if it was attained by theft, over the truth in order to maintain that stability.

        • Ross

          Agreed.

There is also built-in resistance among people, including people on JMG, of the idea that our votes can be hacked.

    • Lazycrockett

Okay it wasn’t as bad as the lede was suggesting. Basically at the moment Facebook offered its services to both campaigns but the Drumpf camp organized it better. The panel tends to not believe that the facebook employees were Republicans.

It speaks to their sense of entitlement. Being in the federal executive is not about service, it’s about privilege that they think they’ve earned. They think they DESERVE to be able to pillage the country now that they’re in a position to do so.

  • Tomcat

WHY are we finding all this crap out exactly one year after the harm was done?

Damn, those expensive Obama vacations are starting to seem like a bargain compared to this administration. These guy love to spend OUR money FAST.

    • Lazycrockett

Drumpf has already spent more money on vacations that Obama did his entire 8 years.

      • 2guysnamedjoe

he’s spent more on golf than on PR hurricane relief.

        • Tomcat

Speaking of which. There is a hurricane hitting the mainland this weekend so which golf course is he playing at this weekend?

      • Tomcat

        When was it NOT hacked?

        • AmeriCanadian

Exactly. Someone should start a list of companies that HAVEN’T been hacked. I bet it will be very small.

    • safari

I just want them one day to let someone load all your comments and my responses into a system that creeps out those that know me.

    • safari

At any rate, it doesn’t seem that bad:

We know that a snapshot of our user database from 2012, including information dating back to 2007, was exposed. The snapshot includes email addresses, Disqus user names, sign-up dates, and last login dates in plain text for 17.5mm users. Additionally, passwords (hashed using SHA1 with a salt; not in plain text) for about one-third of users are included.

If it slows down any and forms a good eyewall it will strengthen fast.

      • Lazycrockett

It seems its gonna be a fast mover which usually means rain, rain , rain.

        • UrsusArctos

You got that backwards. if it’s moving fast we will have mostly surge and wind. There won’t be time for severe inundating rains like Harvey.

          • Lazycrockett

            yep my bad.

          • UrsusArctos

Lazycrockett that’s understandable. Up until about 2000 or so most people off the Gulf and South Atlantic Coast didn’t know too much about hurricanes. Post-Katrina EVERY storm is media and social media overload. They get a lot right, but so much is also dependent on specific local conditions.
Here in S MS/S AL/W FL panhandle we are MUCH more at risk for surge than other areas. It’s looking like 8-10 feet right now. Because of that history a lot of the back bay flooding doesn’t hurt too badly because people aren’t in those areas. the beachfronts are another story.
There’s no mandatory evacuation here in Harrison Co or anywhere else in MS/AL. Some areas along Lake Borgne/St Catherine LA are evacuated, but that’s as much from a week of easterly wind piling up water in the corner where LA/MS meet as anything else.

          • Lazycrockett

No no no Im a horrible gay. Horrible.

          • UrsusArctos

Just my kind! We can go to remedial queer classes together, can’t we?

          • Tomcat

When I lived in Florida we always wanted a fast hurricane, but mostly because they are so scary we just wanted them gone real fast. But yeah the slow ones do the most damage and flooding.

        • Ninja0980

If it comes to my neck of the woods in a day or two, good.
We need all the rain we can get.

    • Skeptical_Inquirer

https://youarenotsosmart.com/2011/03/25/the-sunk-cost-fallacy/ It describes the psychology of what makes people throw good money after bad. It’s called the sunken cost fallacy. I90% of advice column letters describe this phenomenon of trying to get back the value you can’t get back.

“When you lose something permanently, it hurts. The drive to mitigate
this negative emotion leads to strange behaviors. Have you ever gone to
see a movie only to realize within 15 minutes or so you are watching one
of the worst films ever made, but you sat through it anyway? You didn’t
want to waste the money, so you slid back in your chair and suffered.
Maybe you once bought non-refundable tickets to a concert, and when the night arrived you felt sick, or tired, or hung over. Perhaps something
more appealing was happening at the same time. You still went, even
though you didn’t want to, in order to justify spending money you knew
you could never get back. What about that time you made it back home
with a bag of tacos, and after the first bite you suspected they might
have been filled with salsa-infused dog food, but you ate them anyway
not wanting to waste both money and food? If you’ve experienced a
version of any of these, congratulations, you fell victim to the sunk
      cost fallacy.”

      • Treant

I always objected slightly to calling this a fallacy; a sunken cost is a real thing. And I’ve been in the position of the taco analog, except not being able to afford to purchase other food. It was either eat the not so good food or go hungry. That’s a matter of resource management. Also, I detest waste.

It would be an actual fallacy if, because I ate there once, I continued to go to justify the initial expenditure. I wouldn’t do that; I’ll find someplace else. Which is what Trump voters are doing; going back again and again because of their initial expenditure and being unable to cut their losses in terms of the emotional energy they’ve invested.

      • JAKvirginia

That’s all very… um… fascinating but, how do you explain 31.5% of registered voters voted for him (approx. 20% of population) but he has a 32% approval rating? I doubt even Nate at 538 could explain this one.

    • SoCalGal20

The economy hasn’t started to tank yet. It’s trending there, though. Once the jobless rate start going up and his approval rating will go down even more.

Here’s some OT for a Friday night: I went to see “Battle of the Sexes” today. On the downside, there was no real chemistry (IMO) between Emma Stones’ BJK and her then-lover Marilyn Barnett, played Andrea Riseborough (I recognize that because Barnett is an ambiguous character—she did out King for money, and cost King millions in endorsements thereby—she couldn’t/shouldn’t be portrayed as King’s great love). But the story of King (and her WTA sisters) fighting the (sexist) Man, was great! And I really liked the closing song. Another Sara Bareilles feminist anthem FTW!

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

OT: Oh man, white male supremacists don’t realize they need to go the Lowered Expectations route. This is from 12/16 so not a super new article but not super old.

    https://www.vice.com/en_nz/article/wndk85/inside-the-sad-world-of-racist-online-dating

“Take this post from a user named Boeck. He describes himself as a 25-year-old, ripped-as-hell dude who plans to get married and “have many children.” Boeck’s interests are “Germany and German culture, national socialism, Hitler, golf, chemistry, genealogy” and he desires his ideal woman to be “1-7 years younger than me… 100% White BUT with less German heritage than myself… athletic, racist, nazi, respectful and thinks I’m the greatest man on earth.”

Another user named Joshua83 who wrote an almost 600 word post, is looking to be “married and have beautiful Aryan children” and enjoys “Racialism, history… preservation and defense of the White Race, and traditional old fashioned values.” For his “one interesting fact about yourself” Josh admits he’s a chaste virgin.

Four hundred words of Josh’s epic post were the attributes he wants in his
woman which include having to be “a chaste virgin, preferably one who is either Scottish or German but as long as you are 100% white that is the most important thing” and “clean, honest, loyal (both to our race and to me and our children.)”

    • Treant

Does “ripped-as-hell” mean “smaller beer belly than most Nazis seem to have”?

As a pureblood German, I’d like to know what’s wrong with Our People.

And Josh, honey, if you demand a chaste virgin, she has the right to demand the same. You’d probably best look for a dirty, amoral whore such as yourself.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

The article didn’t have pictures but I thought to myself that they probably expect the wife’s genes to do all the heavy lifting on the beautiful children part.

        • Treant

Those would have to be some Olympically strong genes. Good luck with that, Nazi dudes. You’re going to need it.

      • JAKvirginia

Was Josh describing a wife or a Boy Scout? “Clean, honest, loyal…”

    • JT

White nationalists say it’s difficult finding women to date.

      LOL. I wonder why.

    • BeaverTales

Good article. White supremacy has only been an ideology for about 200 years…a blink in time since homo sapiens has been on Earth. Maybe 10 generations at most. Not long enough to “purify” anyone.

      https://www.statnews.com/2017/08/16/white-nationalists-genetic-ancestry-test/

I’d bet most of Breitbart’s readership could or would agree with these guys. Fear of angelic looking women and kids losing their “purity” to interbreeding with dark skinned people drives a lot of the world’s ideological struggles, economics and voluntary social relationships. It’s not just a white thing. Koreans, Japanese and Chinese have been touting their ‘racial’ purity and trying to subjugate each other for several centuries as well. I’m sure the racist tribalism that spuriously associates your genetics with your ideology exists everywhere on Earth, and why I feel we will never ever evolve past it and select genes that matter (intelligence, non-violence, and longevity for instance).

If Josh and Boeck didn’t bring up their obvious Naziism and obsession with virginity, they’d easily fit into the market of personal ads on craigslist, A4A and PoF in 2000-2017. This kind of process for choosing an ‘ideal’ partner isn’t exactly rare…it’s all in the marketing. Stating your bigotry so openly that you might turn off the more liberal minded folk who fit your genetic criteria is the only reason people like these hide behind internet anonymity. 100 years ago it would have been perfectly fine to talk like this in most of rural America

Our consumer preferences in the dating pool are silently taught to most American children in toddlerhood by our own parents, starting with our Barbie dolls and GI Joes. Openly stating these preferences as a life-guiding ideology is what makes people like Boeck and Josh somewhat unusual.

      • -M-

I don’t think it’s actually that hard to get past the xenophobic ‘instinct’. Kids imprint on what they grow up with as their definition of normal. More integration leads in general to kids with a broader sense of ‘us’.

FEMA buried the PR info on recovery. WaPo uncovered it and created a tool to track day-to-day changes.

It’s a crying shame that we now have a government that engages in this kind of shady business and incompetence.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to sexual harassment. Hollywood itself is a cesspool for sexual predators just like the political and corporate arenas. Most women and some men and many of them underage have to offer their bodies to keep their supposedly day jobs.

      • worstcultever

Jesus fuck, is there any powerful man ANYWHERE – ANYWHERE – who doesn’t do this sick-ass, predatory shit?

It’s starting to look like Barack Obama, that negro muslim Kenyan thug, might be the only man on the planet who actually respects women enough to not drop trou and wave his weenie at them as a matter of privilege.

        • bambinoitaliano

Many moons ago, a couple of acquaintance alluded to me the existence of the “bibles” in the Hong Kong movie and tv industry. The bible contain the list of the stars du jour of both male and female available for a price. It’s no wonder many Asian culture look down upon the career in the entertainment industry and frown upon their children entering that industry. The perception might have shifted slightly today, I don’t believe the sexual favor as part of the job has gone away.

      • Ernest Endevor

I think this is very unusual. I’ve never experienced any kind of sexual exploitation in the theatre. Idiots, yes; untalented, yes. And though I don’t know Hollywood, I’ve never heard of such things being a regular parent of business.

        • bambinoitaliano

If you notice the pattern of sexual harassment cases. Those involved the wealthy and the powerful do not come to light if ever only after many years later. Only when the victims finally have no fucks to give and came forward. Only when reporters put real effort into investigative journalism. Only when the media willing to provide enough resources for the investigation. Look no further than the Boston Globe exposure of the Catholic church. An institution that has been running a pedophilia ring for centuries. Still the institution persist. Sexual harassment is the most under reported crimes. Despite what our morality, it’s almost like an acceptable form of abuse within the human culture. Look at the many individuals including women who voted for the pussy grabber in chief? Victims are made to feel vulnerable physically and financially. They are made to feel as the instigators if not the initiators of the sexual tryst. I’m beginning to feel like sexual abuse is the norm and only the fortunate few never experience sexual advances.

All this abuse of flights going on while Americans in PR are suffering and dying because they can’t get supplies. Shame on them!! Put the same money towards moving the sick to the mainland or moving supplies inland.

  • LeeCMH

Trump has filled the administration with Wall Street 1%’ers who have mastered the art of stealing from middle class Americans, legally.

Legally? Sure they control the government.

    • worstcultever

And Dumpy & Co. have all ridden a carefully-constructed media scream machine that has convinced the theft victims that the thieves are not only not bad, but their actual VERY BEST FRIENDS and the ONLY HOPE FOR MURKA.

The mindfuck that’s been done to this country is truly the most stunning propaganda victory ever.

      • Snarkaholic

Yes…especially how stunningly stupid his voter base is.

That and raw hatred, especially the hateful Christians.

It is impressive that they vote their hatred and effectively against their own personal interests.

  • Richard

and all those low information voters bought into the draining the swamp BS…… Ugh !

  • Gianni

Mnuchin defended himself by saying that all the flights were approved by the “White House”. Does that paint a clear enough picture? It’s described as “One hand washing the other”. This administration is definitely competing for the number one position as the most egregious admin in our history and I’m pretty sure it’s going to win it.
