Former NFL Player Sues Gay Blogger Over Nude Video

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

Former NFL player, radio host and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” hubby Kordell Stewart has sued an Atlanta blogger for posting a video showing his exposed backside, according to TMZ.

The court documents, filed in Fulton County Superior Court, accuses Quentin Latham (known as the Funky Dinera online) of posting a private video and posting it online last December and concocted a fake email that implied the video came from a boyfriend of Stewart’s.

Stewart, in numerous interviews and statements and in his book, has denied vigorously of being gay. He did so again in the lawsuit and noted that Latham’s blog, in numerous instances, has said Stewart is not straight.

Funky Dineva has a large social media following, with 131,000 followers on Twitter alone. In the 2016 clip below, Kordell tells Steve Harvey that the gay accusations have only brought him “closer to the word.”

RELATED: Earlier this year Stewart won a $3 million default judgement against “I’m Not Gay No More” viral video star Andrew Caldwell, who did not show up for the hearing. Caldwell has claimed that he and Stewart had an affair.

    • GayOldLady

Atlanta was pretty gay/lesbian all the way back in the 80’s. One of the first Pride marches I went to was in ATL. The L/G bars were always overflowing. I went on a business trip to Atl in 1985. A work friend and I went to a Lesbian bar in Buckhead. It was a weeknight and the place was jumping. I told the taxi driver the name of the place and he knew right away where I was talking about. When we got out of the cab he gave me a card with his name and cab number and told me to call him when we were ready to go back to the hotel.

      • jerry

I went to the Peach Bowl in 1981 with my college marching band, and several of us gaylings went out a few nights…yep, it was pretty gay even back then.

    • james1200

I’ve seen the video; no straight man sends a butt shot to a woman. Poor guy seems to think he’s fooling people.

Isn’t Middle America the epicenter of the others Men calling it discreet?

    • JoeMyGod

Yup. The AJC has it wrong.

  • Todd20036

If the email was faked, he has a case.
Otherwise if a straight blogger did this, I imagine he would not have said much.
In any event, the fact that he is making a big deal with this will make things a whole lot worse than if he just laughed and shrugged it off.

  • clay

Perhaps he was just re-enacting a movie scene?

  • JoeMyGod

You might recall that the “I’m Not Gay No More” clip spawned dozens of remixes and parodies and even an animated version. Here’s the original.

rAmen is also the most appropriate end to a prayer to his heavenly noodleness, the FSM.

          • juanjo54

This is amusing but not correct. Amen is a semitic word based on the root form of aleph-mem-nun. The aleph symbol is a glottal stop. This root has the meaning of to be firm, confirmed, reliable, faithful, have faith, believe. The Egyptian word spelled in English as Amen or Amun is based on an Egyptian root very which is spelled different starting with a yodh and does not include the aleph glottal stop. The Egyptian word, Amun or Amen or Amon [it is spelled differently in English depending on the writer] means hidden. The meaning of Amon-Ra in English is “the hidden god”.

      • olandp

That gay rumor about Cordell flew the entire time he was in the NFL. Another guy/QB who was rumored to be gay was Jeff Garcia. I don’t know the truth of either of these guys but I wish some of the gay players in the NFL or retired NFL would come out of the closet so we could make these sort of rumors non-news.

No, it’s not. But what are poor people to do? It’s not like they have enough money to hire lawyers for a case that – potentially – could go all the way to the Supreme Court. They live with it.

This is how republicans take away people’s right to vote. “You can tell much about a person by the way they treat others” shows me that most republicans have a dark black stain where their heart should be.

  • Tawreos

I have no idea how someone could think he is gay. All he did to make his money is dress in spandex and run around while other men chased him trying to get on top of him. If he did his job really good he got to go and publicly hug other men. And whether he won or lost he always ended the day undressing and showering with other men. Now, you tell me what part of that is gay.

    • AmeriCanadian

Sounds like a really good movie if you ask me. 😉

LOL..and this is issue why? Let him claim what he wants. The “word” will bite him in the ass, and take his money in the long run. I’d rather see press about the athletes that have the balls to come out. Whether it’s before, during, or after their careers.

  • Treant

Closer to what word? “Bigot” comes to mind. So does “closet,” for that matter.

edit: arg, I means the trashmen.

  • barrixines

TMZ is sleaze. Blogs that post sexual vids/photos of people without their express permission are even sleazier. (Christian) men on the down low make my eyes roll and not in a good way but outing people who are not actively engaged in trying to harm us is shoddy. Did I miss anyone out?

    • another_steve

That’s my position on outing too.

If a closet case celebrity, politician, priest, etc. is doing and has done no harm to the LGBT community through word or deed, outing that person is inappropriate. However slimy and obnoxious the person be.

If, on the other hand, a closet case is doing or has done harm, outing is absolutely required. A moral imperative.

      • Phillip in L.A.

What about a DL “regular” guy (i.e., non-public-figure) who shares with you that he happens to be HIV-positive, another_steve? You and he know many of the same people. (This has actually happened to me.)

        • another_steve

I don’t know if I’m understanding your scenario, Phillip, but if you’re asking me whether I think a HIV+ person in the closet who’s having unprotected sex with his partners should be outed based solely on that, I’d say absolutely not.

This is 2017. Assuming you’re mentally competent, the decision to have unprotected sex is yours and totally yours. Someone telling you that he’s HIV- means shit. He may be lying or he may just not know his real status.

The decision to have unprotected sex with someone is yours and yours alone.

          • Phillip in L.A.

What about in 1989? And I have no idea what kind of sex they were having.

[Edit: Added: If that is your idea of “community,” I’m not sure I want to be a part of it.]

          • another_steve

1989 was different. Thanks in large part to Ronald Reagan, lots and lots of people — LGBT people included – knew little about AIDS. Back then, if you knew you were HIV+, I think you had a moral obligation to tell your sex partners.

Different times today. Unless you’ve just crawled out of a cave after a 30-year sleep (and assuming you’re mentally competent), you know the risks associated with unprotected sex.

I believe, in general, that mentally competent adults are responsible for their actions. Sometimes I get the feeling that that belief of mine is shared by few.

    • JP

I agree with the sentiment. No one should ever be “outted.” However, I take issue with being outted and then dismissing it as though something is WRONG with being gay. I’m not sure what’s up with these NFL players, especially ones out of the league that get caught up in clearly gay situations and try to pretend we didn’t see what we saw. case in point, Kerry Rhodes. Once you’re busted you’re busted.

  • Javier Smith

He probably identifies as straight but his behavior and orientation may not be in complete agreement. People often judge other’s sexuality by what they do and their own but what they call themselves.

  • Ken M At least half of these are suitable for this fool. She did many things, but she never denied who she was, or what she liked.
