Anti-Gay “Family Values” Republican US House Rep To Retire In Wake Of Adultery And Abortion Scandals

The Associated Press reports:

Republican Congressman Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania has announced plans to retire at the end of this term — amid tawdry revelations of an extramarital affair. Murphy, who is in his eighth term, says in a statement Wednesday that he will “take personal time to seek help as my family and I continue to work through our personal difficulties.”

Murphy’s statement comes a day after a local newspaper published text messages indicating that the congressman, who opposes abortion, asked his mistress to get an abortion when he thought she was pregnant. It turned out she wasn’t. Murphy had recently acknowledged his affair with Shannon Edwards, which became public as a result of her divorce proceedings.

Murphy voted against the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, against the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, against the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and for a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. He has a 0% rating from the Human Rights Campaign. He has a 100% rating from the Family Research Council.

          • gaycuckhubby

True story… my heterosexual brother had the nerve to ask me to bake him his wedding cake.

          • jo gerardo

I made my little sister’s wedding cake. Of course it was bigger than it needed to be and deco’d to the hilt. Her Mom in law’s church sent me a thank you note because they had been eating it for two Sunday coffee klatches.
They never did send me back my silver platter.

I think he was right. Then.

Much less of a chasm between hetero and homo now.

Gay folks are more sexually conservative and mainstream than we used to be and straight folks are more sexually and culturally liberal than they used to be.

I’m in my early 30s, we don’t hang out in straight groups or gay groups.
I can’t remember the last time I hung out with just gay guys, always mixed groups.

        • vorpal 😼

Absolutely. I just turned 40 and in real life, probably about 95% of my friends are straight. Here in Chile, besides my husband, I actually only have two queer friends: a gay Brazilian guy and a pansexual American girl.

Hell, now that I think about it, I have more evangelical Christian friends here than I do gay friends, and the evangelicals don’t care at all about my sexual orientation, or at least don’t make any sort of issue about it and are supportive of marriage equality.

          • Phillip in L.A.

That is quite disturbing, I think. It appears the acculturation and absorption of married gays is proceeding apace.

His pension won’t be that much. He’s over 62, so he’s eligible to collect immediately. But he will have served only 16 years, so he won’t be eligible for the max benefit, which is 80% of a member’s max salary (average of three highest years). I think the $140K figure you mention is 80% of the current salary for a member of Congress. Murphy would need to have served longer to be eligible for that.

From Wikipedia: “Murphy co-wrote The Angry Child: Regaining Control When Your Child Is Out of Control (2002). The Angry Child won the National Parenting Publications Award and was featured on Book TV,[8] a program of C-SPAN. A few years later, he co-wrote Overcoming Passive-Aggression: How to Stop Hidden Anger from Spoiling Your Relationships, Career, and Happiness (2005), both co-written with Loriann Hoff Oberlin, a writer/author and mental health counselor.”

Don’t get too excited. It’s Pennsylvania’s 18th district, a gerrymandered piece of garbage that pretty much insures the Tea Party candidate a win.

      • Treant

They just heard arguments this week and it looks like there are five votes to strike it down.
Still boggles my mind how Kennedy might strike this down but gutting the VRA etc is a-okay.

          • Treant

Kennedy is, frankly, at heart a conservative who’s afraid of Hell. So every so often he wants to put a shiny star in the American crown so he can die and say, “See? See? I was a good boy!”

          • Ninja0980

The scary thing is the right has been so successful at putting far right folks on SCOTUS and elsewhere that folks like Kennedy, O’Connor and Posner seem like moderates when they aren’t.
When all is said and done, Kennedy will still have ranked among the most conservative justices to ever serve on SCOTUS.

          • Treant

The scary thing is that Obama didn’t immediately appoint a Supreme Court Justice on the grounds that the Senate had abandoned their responsibility and that, therefore, it reverted to him.

            A loss? Maybe.

          • Ninja0980

He retired a month ago from the Seventh Circuit.

          • Phillip in L.A.

Thx for the info, Salton! Did he retire from ACTIVE service, which would make him now a Senior U.S. District Judge?(*) In any event, he still has not sat on the U.S. Supreme Court.

In randomness: My U president issued a public statement about a possibly race-related “noose” incident. After a day of turmoil, the investigation completed:

The student who lost the shoelaces lives on the same floor as the student who reported the incident. It was not directed at any individual, Cody said, adding that police believe someone found the shoelace and put it on a stairwell door handle after picking it up off the floor.

OT: Yesterday, in the middle of a small drought that breaks this weekend. I’m watering the gardens, but not the grass, which I simply stopped cutting to reduce water requirements. The gardens are definitely spinning down, with the white marigolds almost gone and spotty holes appearing as things get old and die.

You can’t see the five pots on the table with transplanted volunteers–one small zinnia, an ageratum, two orange Janie marigold daughters (which won’t breed entirely true, but close enough), and one yellow Janie (ditto). I can keep those blooming indoors until well into winter.

Once those fade, I’m usually in, “Fuck it, nuke the whole fucking thing for all I care” mode. I have a little Seasonal Affective.

    • clay

I’d love to see beds like that spill down your backyard, breaking up the lawn.

      • Treant

I use a robot to mow–I’m viciously allergic to cut grass–so I’d have to do that manually. Grass areas have to be contiguous with an absolute minimum of five feet of passage between for the robot to work in one go.

I could set them up as separate zones, but efficiency suffers and I’d have to keep moving the bot.

        • clay

Five feet between beds doesn’t sound like too much. That’s not even enough for two wheel chairs to pass. If you set them at six – eight feet apart, you’d still get the visual effect (due to fore-shortening and oblique angles).

          • Treant

I also love my elite bluegrass lawn and would have trouble maintaining more than 2,000 square feet of packed flower gardens. 🙂

I have email accounts spread out all over the internet: comcast, yahoo, gmail, microsoft, all kinds of sites that no longer exist. I even have at least one hotmail account (probably more – I frequently created a professional account, and friends-n-family account, and a “none of your business” account for sites I didn’t quite trust or was trying out).

Even though I deleted my website ages ago, I kept my personal domain. I finally moved it to google domains so I can take advantage of their email service. So now, I’m consolidating all my email accounts and getting rid of all the crap. The problem is that now I’m having to relog in and reset passwords to sites I long forgot I even had accounts. I’ve only recently started using Last Pass to manage passwords, so I can’t remember some of the passwords, and am unable to recover them because they are linked to accounts that no longer exist.

It’s a distraction from the shitstorm in Washington, these days, and a bit of a walk down memory lane as I discover correspondence that I’d long though deleted.

I recommend using a Password manager, and everyone should be changing their passwords periodically. Most experts recommend every 90 days, but if you’re using strong passwords, I think it’s safe to go up to a year.

    • safari

I like most of what you say except: password managers, I feel, are a one stop shop to trouble. Also, being pedantic, NIST (National Institute of Standards) has recommended moving away from frequent password changes since no one can remember them anyway.

When I woke up I raced to the pad to see what I had discovered and it was a drawing of a jelly bean type figure holding an umbrella with one sentence underneath – “I am a clid”.

I was so disappointed. I sat looking at it for ages thinking, “Did I mean clit?”

      • houstonray

I’ve never done any drugs in my life, not even pot, but on my bucket list for someday is pot (I know, boring) and I’d like to try acid (only because I understand it’s non addicting?) to ‘see’ what there is to see. 😉

        • Ninja0980

I’ve done pot.. and gotten a sinus infection each and every time, hence the reason I stopped after three tries.

          • Homo Erectus

            Drugs are bad – Mkay?

        • safari

The thing with drugs is this: they only “unlock” what is already in one’s body. The pathways are there, the chemical interactions are waiting, the “enlightenment” one wants is standing by. Drugs most often offer a shortcut to get to somewhere new. Their problem is that “new” often involves feeling good, which is why I both love and hate the idea of them. For me, I want to try a hallucinogen like acid because of what doors I’ve heard open — but that doesn’t make it healthy and certainly not safe.

          • Dreaming Vertebrate

You are spreading dangerous messages, and down playing the actual risks of permanent damage. Why?

          • safari

I stand by the “unlock” comment and “shortcut” comment. Drugs to me are both. I thought I hedged against promoting them by emphasizing the “feeling good” part. We like to feel good. Drugs do that. But at a cost. And often, because of their shortcut nature and feeling good have a consequence, a large one.

          • Dreaming Vertebrate

I’m out of here for now.

          • safari

I didn’t mean to upset you. I’m not looking for a debate nor would I encourage anyone to do so. What is upsetting?

          • Lazycrockett

Yeah no one is sitting on someone’s shoulder playing devil. It was mentioned and people responded with their experience with.

          • safari

I just don’t like playing around too much with drugs and people casually. We each have our own experiences and those we’ve heard from others. I aim to be as honest as I can. I didn’t mean to be offensive.

          • -M-

More short-circuit than shortcut in my opinion. Unbalancing a machine, the results may be interesting to experience, but if it was useful the brain would be wired to do it without drugs. It mostly doesn’t so evolution says this is mostly not a useful way of processing information. [1) Not to sound overly prudish about other people’s recreational drug use. Some of them no one should try, others be careful and don’t overdo it. 2) Not to dismiss the possibility of a hallucination surfacing connections and comparisons that a normally operating brain wouldn’t, but they’re mostly going to be garbage.]

          • safari

My contrarian nature demands a reply to both agree and contradict your argument. Alas, I’m…

          • -M-

Interesting factoid: Other animal species can enjoy drugs too. But we don’t know of any others that like all different kinds of drugs the way humans as a species do.

I use the wacky tobacky (though I didn’t even try it until I was in my early 30’s, and can go months without a puff), but I’ve never, ever been tempted to try anything harder. The side-effects and consequences just seem way too out of line with any possible enjoyment it would cause.

          • barrixines

Purely anecdotal but out of all the drugs I have ever taken, the one I have seen the most people have an adverse reaction to is weed.

        • safari

Sorry for replying again. I’m not looking for an argument. I’d just like to hear your peace about it.

          • Keep in mind dearest safari, that the possibility to have a “bad trip” is just as likely as having a pleasant experience. I used LSD and mescaline many, many times beginning when I was about 16 until I was in my early 30’s. I had the good fortune of only having one bad and really scary trip…I completely could not remember who I, where I was, what year it was, who the people around me were…

In the past when they’ve gone on vacation, the hubby and I have watched the dog and simply gone over to their house to feed their demonic furball.
Now they are fumigating the house while they go visit relatives and not only are we going to bring their dog (pointer/lab mix) to the house but we’re letting the demonic furball stay too.

AHS: Cult is getting really good, more emphasis on the banding of the cult, Dermot Mulroney’s character was a sleazeball with a dirty secret in his attic, Evan Peter’s character may not even be the cult leader at all but a puppeteer.

It started good, and now its getting better.

    • worstcultever

AHS always falls apart. It’s just whether or not I’m entertained first.

      • Blake J Butler

Go past the first episode of the election night, and it gets better, really good. Starts out as a mess though in the beginning but it all clears up and makes sense right about now with this weeks episode filling in the gaps in the story about the cult.

It’s about a realistic of a season AHS can get, minus a cameo from the killer clown from AHS: Freak Show, dunno what he has to do with this season other than be an inspiration for a cult of clown serial killers.

Oh and they also use swear words on FXX. Fuck Fuck Fuckity Fuck Fuck.

        • safari

Realism is the opposite of my problem. Can it induce me into a fiction?

          • Blake J Butler

          • safari

I learned to watch public access in my young-20s when our “queen of politics” in Lansing had a show before the cable conglomerate ate public access. She was a large woman on SSDI who’d harp about how the fact that there were four sixes in a progressive’s number was worse than 666 because four numbers, not in a row, but four… intrigued me. She’d, both on her show and in front of city council, would wear a faux-feather boa and, on special nights, a tiara as she was queen. One of her last episodes involved her fully engowned and leaving us with a teddy-bear with bowing animotronics singing a song akin to it’s a small world for 10 minutes. Well, I can only say few things have enraptured me.

Abramson explains why Trump, Donnie Jr, Ivanka, Jared, and Manafort are all indictable, and what Mueller is looking for to complete his investigation.

I have not been paying much attention to Clinton since the election.
But I am struck at how qualified, how prepared she would have been for this role, at this time.
It is such a 180 to hear someone with enthusiasm and patriotism and belief in our country who is speaking positively and not tearing people down
And I cannot believe the disservice that we did to our country in November.

    • TampaDink

I know that you are younger that I am…but in the run up to the 2016 presidential election, I could not foresee how anyone could beat her, she was the most qualified candidate in the history of the nation.

      • gaycuckhubby

I’m watching her on Fallon now and her humor and Grace it’s blowing me away

        • TampaDink

I am 100% convinced that she is completely genuine. I voted for, and supported, her husband twice….and even through his failures & fuck ups, he left us with a massive budget surplus…which W quickly pissed away.

      • gaycuckhubby

If she had been elected hurricanes would have still happened. North Korea would still be aggressive. We would still have mass shootings. But her response would have been so different. She would have been so much more prepared. She is an example of why we should have a policy wonk in the White House.

And I apologize for ranting I did not expect to get this emotional watching her

        • TampaDink

I agree with everything you posted….and I do understand how emotional we ALL are.

      • UrsusArctos

I had hope, but know how deep the irrational Clinton hatred was outside of “Blue Bubbles” and felt 45* might just pull this off. She’s had 35± years of muck hurled at her, did herself no favors by playing Democratic triangulation, and winning a 3rd term for any party is a huge hurdle. Turns out all it took was Russian targeting those very Clinton haters on social media to get them out to the polls. .

        • TampaDink

I agree. A 3rd term is very difficult….especially after two terms of a man who was constantly derided as not being American.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

There are lot of theories but I really think it’s because America has seriously bad priorities and she was fighting in a rigged game.

Women are simultaneously told that to be too mean makes her an uppity witch but if she acts too nice, she’s a doormat who goes unrespected. It’s something Hillary herself remarked on. She wonders if she should have confronted Donald on the stage when he was freaking stalking her all over the place. She didn’t because she didn’t want to leave the impression of weakness. Neither choice are free of problems.

It’s also made worse by the American brand of Christianity where it’s openly discouraged for women to seek the plum jobs but the crap jobs with no compensation or status are gladly dumped on them. Even devout Christian women noticed and tweeted about it a while back, pointing out how utterly insulting a lot of the stuff was.

https://www.cbeinternational.org/blogs/55-things-only-christian-women-hear is a collection of the crap they hear.

I also remember an article pointing out that America shits on hard-working smart people who follow rules in its pop culture. They’re considered boring and stuffy. It LOVES bad boys who shit on rules and shoots things up and just smirks.

And I know people hate to hear this but I think she let fear of accidentally saying something slightly off make her a bit stiff.

        • Lazycrockett

I said before and I’ll say it again when all this shit comes out and and everything is done, ballots were hacked and the election stolen.

          • Skeptical_Inquirer

I’m not ignoring the Russia meddling and I seriously want all ballots to be paper, especially the swing states. I just think a lot of the problem resides in our own country.

          • johncAtl

It totally does. But having worked in the IT industry for 40 years I don’t have much trust for electronic voting. Few (if any) places in the U.S. have safeguards to ensure the electronic voting results are accurate. The Koch brothers and big business get the candidate they want.

            Agreed. The election WAS stolen.

          • TampaDink

I agree. That, too, caused us to live under the regime of the least qualified candidate who was opposed by the most qualified candidate.

          • Lazycrockett

Obama Knows, Clinton knows, Ryan and McConnell know, when Maxine Waters left that FBI meeting in early December She Knew. Pelosi and Schumer know. Every intelligent committee in the Government is trying to get a handle on it and figure out how to soft pedal it so the idea that the Super Power of the world election was hacked doesn’t cause wide spread economic and diplomatic unrest.

          • TampaDink

Every single word of your post is true. The question that remains is how we survive this fucked up situation as a nation.

        • TampaDink

I sincerely believe that she ran the best possible race that she could and that the Russian influence cost her the electoral college win.

          • JCF

My mom (OBM) used to have an expression, whenever anyone (usually my brother or me! Sometimes my dad) questioned her work ethic (why hadn’t she done _x_?):

“Hey, whaddaya think I’ve been doing all day: eating bon-bons and reading movie magazines???”

THAT is my reaction, whenever some Democrat whines “Why didn’t Hillary go to Wisconsin? Why didn’t she go to Michigan?”

She made the BEST FUCKING ESTIMATES of her time, AT that time. She wasn’t “eating bon-bons”, she was Just Somewhere Else. Working her pantsuited bum off. It’s just too FUCKING easy, after 11/8/16, to say “why wasn’t she ____? Why didn’t she _____?” She did the best she could, w/ the info she had, At That Time. [She made judgment calls—and some were less than spot-on. Unlike fucking Drumpf, Hillary has never pretended to be perfect!]

            Rant over.

      • JCF

        I thought it was possible…

…but I believed the polls. They were consistent, that she had it in the bag—and by the time they really tightened, after the Comey letter, I reassured myself that early voting had stocked Clinton w/ an insurmountable lead, even IF voters broke for Drumpf on Election Day. That was my folly (not mine alone). Of course, it’s still possible the actual ballot results were tampered with. I’m just not sure we’ll ever find that out, one way or another (as w/ aspects of the 2000 and 2004 elections).

        • TampaDink

We, who believed the polling numbers, had no idea how much outside influence would affect the outcome.

      • johncAtl

The run up? Up until about 11pm on 11/8 I didn’t see any way Trump could win. Not long after that someone (I think it was sam_handwich) posted a comment that said “she’s going to lose.” I am still in disbelief.

I went to my regular EA meeting 6:30PM Tuesday night (figured I REALLY needed it that night, for emotional sobriety!), so I last heard the updated calls at ~6PM (9 Eastern). Virginia, thought to be ABSOLUTELY SOLIDLY BLUE, was taking WAY too long to call. That’s when my heart dropped…

      Okay so true story.
Mom for breakfast everyday would make gravy, biscuits, sausage or bacon, and eggs. Except on Sunday when we had pancakes, cause you had to get to church on time. Anyway the left overs were fed to the barn cats so everyday I would carry a skillet full of left over gravy and scraps to the barn up the ladder and feed at one time close to 30 cats. Mom has pics on the wall of me in my red wool cap with a skillet of gravy on my shoulder leading cats to the barn.

sad note, then we had a huge blizzard and bout 20 of them died in it.

THIS is the kind of news I’ve been worrying might suddenly come upon us (posted by someone on Political Wire):

    WSJ
    By Erica Orden
    Oct. 4, 2017 7:06 p.m. ET
Two of the most high-profile law-enforcement officials fired by President Donald Trump said Wednesday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller faces a high bar in proving criminal conduct in his investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, addressing the possibility that he may not bring a case.

    To which I responded:

Jesus, how difficult can it be to prove that Trump is, at the very least, guilty of obstruction? He himself has admitted at least twice in public why he fired Comey, and he has repeatedly interfered with the investigation! And do you mean to tell me an investigation of his tax returns and other financial records reveals nothing?! Why have they lied so much about their Russian connections?? Why is Trump so frantic to stop the investigation??

This is EXACTLY what I’ve been afraid of: “Sorry, we just can’t find enough evidence!”

BULLSHIT!! After the endless stream of revelations, and this regime’s efforts to HIDE what they’ve done, don’t expect us to believe they’re INNOCENT!!

    • billbear1961

      Leo posted this tweet below:

      https://twitter.com/RawStory/status/915727472418869250

      To which Jukesgrrl responded:

‘The foreign government had a lot of help. Ever hear of Brad Parscale? He’s a digital media “guru” and strategy planner from Texas who supervised the Trump campaign’s digital media presence, overseen by (who else?) Jared. Parscale says Kushner is “like a brother” to him and his company hired Eric Trump’s wife Lara. Parscale was paid millions and along with the Mercer’s Cambridge Analytica is suspected of being the onea to interact and coordinate with the Russians.’

    • LesbianTippingHabits

Well, when a police officer is accused of killing someone, and waives trial by jury in favor of trial by a judge, well, there’s never enough evidence for the judge actually to convict. Only once recently, in New York City, and that police officer was an Asian-American.

    • SoCalGal20

Eh, they’ve got a boatload of evidence for obstruction of justice. We’ll see.

Mueller may not bring a case for conspiracy with Russians but he’s got people looking at money laundering and financial crimes.

      • Karl Dubhe

I’ve always thought the Russian thing was about the financial crimes.

Their actions in the election, the ones that I’ve heard proven anyhow, all have ‘plausible deniability.’ 🙁

Of course, we all hope for more. A good treason trial would be ‘fun’.

        • SoCalGal20

Financial crimes are easier to prove. In any case, Mueller is now investigating the Steele dossier so I look forward to whatever they dig up from that.

          • billbear1961

But the FBI no longer is–the resources of the FBI are no longer on hand? WHY??

Sounds to me like the new director has just deliberately dropped the ball, on his Orange Master’s instructions!

    • Treant

It sounds like they’re setting us up for, “Oops, sorry, nothing there” in terms of Russia and anything that’s actually going to risk impeachment.

Several of us have been saying Mueller’s probably been bought and/or threatened into being a good boy.

      • kareemachan

I’m not buying that. He’s being cautious and thorough. Remember, Watergate took TWO years….

        • Treant

Polonium 210 didn’t exist in any quantities back then.

Honestly, I’m quite sure that Mueller’s family and friends have been threatened. Or he got paid off very, very nicely. He’ll turn up stuff the Senate can easily bury as “not impeachable.”

New York State might be a bit harder on him, but that’s been years with no results.

          • billbear1961

NY was going to indict Junior and Ivanka; then, a Trump lawyer showed up in prosecutors’ offices, and that was IT–no further talk of indictment.

          • Treant

“Nice immune system and bone marrow. Be a pity if something happened to them.”

          • billbear1961
          • billbear1961

I’ve pretty much totally lost faith in the U.S., and should now turn my attention fully to Canada.

How long we’ll be able to hold out under a sustained attack financed by American, Russian and other gangster oligarchs remains to be seen.

There will be sellouts–traitors–in Canada, too. We DO, however, vote using paper ballots, and almost a third of Canadians live in or near Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. I think, unlike Americans, large numbers of Canadians could be counted on to descend into the streets to resist fascism here. WE would have some determined LEADERSHIP, and our journalists are still, I think, on the whole, honest. We don’t suffer from an unchallenged right-wing media LIE machine–at least, not yet. And while some of our judges are conservative, they are not evil, far-right fascist fanatics.

I wonder, though, at what point a fascist USA might invade to “liberate” us from the “horrors of socialism.” The U.S. covets our natural resources.

      • billbear1961

I’ve been afraid that it’s all theatre to placate us, to keep us from physically protesting–in large numbers–Trump’s MANY outrages, from the start!

The main reason I’ve (mostly) held my tongue on that score is the size and quality of Mueller’s team–some of them have sympathies for our side, and I find it hard to believe they would ALL be silent if Mueller tried to hush things up.

On the other hand, I think all elements of the Establishment are terrified of the possible political fallout if everything–the SCALE of the betrayal–comes to light, and they may ALL cooperate with a cover-up, and that includes most “journalists.”

It stinks, T–it STINKS! I do not trust ANY of them!!

        • -M-

Not impossible, but I think unlikely. We must walk the line between vigilant concern and paranoid despair. This is very stressful, we must manage ourselves to be motivated by our concerns rather than consumed by them.

          • billbear1961

I think the fix is in, M. Gangsters are in charge, and they are going to STAY in charge.

            There is this today:

While Burr and Warner said that the Russians didn’t change the results, what they undoubtedly mean is that the Russians didn’t hack the software that added up the votes and substitute incorrect tallies for correct ones. No one has suggested that they did that. What they might have done, however, is hack the voter registration databases in as many as 21 states and delete thousands of voters in Democratic-leaning precincts. That would be just as effective as changing vote totals. So far, no one has addressed this issue.

            http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2017/Senate/Maps/Oct05.html#item-1

It’s the first story on the site.

There was an article in the NY Times that specifically said that registered voters had been removed from the rolls in Durham County, NC. Some insisted they were registered and were eventually allowed, by officials, to vote on Election Day; others gave up and went home. There’s no reason to believe this was limited to that ONE county.

Nothing will be done to prevent this kind and other kinds of interference in the future.

Where are the goddamned USELESS Democrats on this matter? Where is the great bulk of the USELESS news media?!

This country is becoming a bitter FARCE! Only massive and relentless protests will save you now, protests that, at a bare minimum, DEMAND public access to Trump’s financial records, SECURE elections, and moderates only–no far-right stooges–appointed to current court vacancies.

    • TimCA

I respect Bharara and Yates greatly and they’re just being cautious which I respect. But I need to keep in mind they aren’t intimately involved with Mueller’s investigators. They aren’t necessarily aware of what’s been uncovered or not at this point.

      • billbear1961

        Hi, Tim!

Could you come back to see my replies to people on this issue? I’d like to share them–those concerns–with you.

        • TimCA

I’ll review the thread late tonight. Just checking in briefly for the moment before continuing a very busy day. I want to give your posts proper attention! 🙂

          • billbear1961

            XO

          • TimCA

I just don’t know how to reply or what to say. The idea that our democracy now potentially hangs on the prosecutorial discretion of Mueller and his hired staff of attorneys is scary. Perhaps it’s too frightening a scenario for me to fully come to realistic terms with. I must however remain hopeful. Hope (however blind as it might be) is all we have now.
            In solidarity,

    • OdieDenCO

donny’s writing of donny jr.’s excuse as to why he meet with russian operatives is pretty damning for obstruction if not evidence of collusion.

      • billbear1961

How that meeting is not proof of an attempt at collusion is beyond me!

    • -M-

Sounded like they’re talking specifically about proving collusion by the campaign beyond a reasonable doubt. Or really beyond the unreasonable doubts of corrupt Republicans. The obstruction, money laundering etc are separate more easily proven charges. Also impeachment and removal aren’t really criminal trials so I don’t think beyond a reasonable doubt is a legal requirement for impeachment or removal, it’s about not being trusted with the office.

      • billbear1961
