Trump Again Blames Puerto Ricans As He Departs For Visit: The Locals Have To Give Us More Help [VIDEO]

The Associated Press reports:

President Donald Trump says the federal government has done a good job in Puerto Rico responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria, but says local officials need to “give us more help.”

Trump says Tuesday that “in Texas and in Florida we get an A-plus, and I’ll tell you what, I think we’ve done just as good in Puerto Rico.” Trump says roads are cleared and communications are “starting to come back.” He says on a “local level they have to give us more help.”

The president lashed out at the mayor of San Juan after she criticized the federal response. He now says that San Juan mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz “has come back a long way.” The White House says Cruz had been invited to participate in Tuesday’s events, but it was unclear whether she and the president would meet.

  • Tawdry D’Tails

I hope the mayor gives him the Jan Brewer reception…

    • bambinoitaliano

Just put him in a plastic tub and push him towards the middle of the ocean.

      • William

        Bigly ocean with water.

      • LesbianTippingHabits

Needed: a pretty bigly tub to accommodate his bigly butt.

        • bambinoitaliano

He’s got enough hot air to keep afloat and power himself onward.

          • LesbianTippingHabits

But all that methane will contribute to global warming . . .

    • kaydenpat

I hope she’s much classier than Boney Finger Brewer.

  • bkmn

Can PR sue him for this crap?

We know better, Cheetolini. Keep lying, though – it’s what your good at. That and molesting women.

  • vorpal 😼

Yes, Donnie, because I’m sure Puerto Ricans have opted for lazily enjoying the aftermath of the hurricane rather than fighting for their lives and the lives of their loved ones and fellow PRs. Idiot.

    • William

He could float around our pond, as long as the snakes and turtles don’t bother him.

      • vorpal 😼

As for the snakes, he might recognize more than a few faces.

        • Silver Badger

          At least one turtle too.

      • bambinoitaliano

If that’s the turtle from congress, I will feed it to the alligator as snack.

    • Todd20036

      I WILL NOT BE SHALLOW… I WILL NOT BE SHALLOW… I WILL NOT BE…
      Oh, fuck it.

    • Tawreos

I feel the need to get him out of those wet shorts

    • bambinoitaliano

That looks more like what Aaron Schock ordered for his next vacation.

    • clay

He think’s Puerto Ricans like Jr.’s hair?
(What am I saying– he think’s anyone would like Jr.’s hair.)

  • tbj5

Did the Texans? Did the Floridians?

    Racist fuckstick.

  • Rex

The entire island was wiped out.
Although, it still isn’t as damaged as Trump’s brain.

    • kaydenpat

There is no evidence that Trump has a brain.

      • clay

He seems to be capable of breathing. . .

        • The_Wretched

          autonomic responces

          • Silver Badger

Yeah, at least a rudimentary brain.

  • clay

    1) The internal roads are not cleared.
    2) The problem isn’t a shortage of drivers, but a shortage of fuel.
    3) Does he even understand electricity?

    • Charles Nelson

Trump: “electricity is just like water… it comes in tiny hollow pipes…even smaller than my hands”.

    • Todd20036

      Nope.

    • HanyBaal

Every patient in ICUs on the island died. Each and everyone. As reported on Stephanie Miller today.

      • ColdCountry

That is horrible. Why was the Navy hospital ship stocked, staffed, and underway as soon as it was safe for then to travel?

        • thatotherjean

Because Trump didn’t know it existed until Hillary mentioned it.

          • ColdCountry

            I wish I didn’t believe that!

          • thatotherjean

All he had to do was ask the Navy what resources they had available, but he doesn’t care enough to ask.

    • pj

      do the trucks work?

      • clay

        Not without roads,
and not well without traffic control.

        • Lizard

          And not without fuel.

    • The_Wretched

He barely understands the concept of “Island”. Roads isn’t covered until advanced topics. ‘Humans eating regularly’ isn’t until grad school for him. Electricity is out in the ‘amazing magic’ category. So is infrastructure basics.

    • GayOldLady

He cannot be bothered with details like that. My friend left yesterday for PR. He’s going to get his parents. Both are diabetic and in their late 70’s. They had no access to food, water or Elec. It took their daughter several days to get to them. Neighbors had a gen and allowed them to plug in their fridge for their insulin and small ration of food. He has a 4 day layover before he can come back. He said most of the interior roads haven’t been cleared and that it’s a total disaster.

      • thatotherjean

Good wishes to all of them.

    • Uncle Mark

Fuel pumps inland don’t work without electricity. Only 5% of the island has electricity. The real news outlets mention that people can only drive so far. Clearly, FOX likes to omit such facts.

On this subject, we now have lax gun laws that are killing hordes of people and fake-news/propaganda outlets that are also getting hordes of people killed. When the fuck iare we going to change this shit ?!!

      • David Walker

I’d say when pigs fly, except that the pig took AF1 to get to Puerto Rico, so it will take something more unlikely than that.

  • vorpal 😼

“We need their truck drivers to start driving trucks.”

We need our president to start presidenting.

    • Ross

We need our president to start being human.

      • vorpal 😼

That would be step #1 of a very long road.

      • Todd20036

        I’d settle for Volgonian

        • William

          I thought he is Slitheen.

          • ColdCountry

            He could never pronounce Raxacoricofallapatorius.

          • Exatron

I thought he was a Ferengi.

      • Thorn Spike

        Unpossible.

      • ted-

That’s so funny that you think that’s even remotely possible. I actually laughed out loud to myself in my office from your comment.

      • Gerry Fisher

        If only…

      • JCF

        A great start: his resignation!

    • Frostbite

      he’s too busy “presedenting” sorry

    • William

It’s difficult to drive when roads are blocked and bridges are gone.

      • pj

        dont bother him with facts.

      • ColdCountry

        And there is no fuel.

      • David L. Caster

That and drivers can get to the trucks. Assuming those drivers are rested, have something to eat, and know they can safely leave their families to go to work.

    • kaydenpat

      We need a President.

      • JackFknTwist

But he bowed his head yesterday….on the lawn !
What more do you want ?

        • David Walker

What more do I want? Well, his head could fall off next time he plays “prayer.” Or maybe explode. Is it too much to ask?

          • JackFknTwist

That seems perfectly reasonable and more than justified.
I have an axe and a block; would that help ?

          • David Walker

Works for me. Now, how do we get 45 to make believe that 45 is a turkey? I mean, yes, of course, he IS one but he doesn’t understand that. He needs to be convinced.

          • JackFknTwist

            I’ve been giving this some thought – [ obviously I have f uck-all else to do ! ]
The British had a very useful institution called “The Star Chamber “.
Guilt or innocence were inconvenient concepts. the Chamber was there to pass judgment and issue punishments – rapido ! – that is, in jig-time.

We need a “few good men” to sit in our new “Star Chamber’ and rid us of this turbulent priest asap.
Now where is Mr. Muller……he is needed to sit in the court of Star Chamber.

          • scottrose
          • JackFknTwist

Dr. Guillotine was a very human man; that instrument reduces the repeat hacking that I had in mind for Trump/turd.

          • Harley

Or a nice bolt of lightning

    • BEARY FLINTSTONE

We need our President TO RESIGN!

      • ted-

        Or a massive coronary.

    • david fairfield

      Then give them fuel, fucker.

  • Joe in PA

But I want to know if Melania has her hurricane heels on.

  • Daveed_WOW

We knew that he was like this before the convention. Millions said yes to a petulant, lazy, stupid bigot.

  • clay

The White House announced that one of the things he’d do to today is “see the Puerto Rican people,” but they didn’t mention his helicopter tour, so I’m left with:

” . . . and President Trump will see the Puerto Rican people, [from a distance, by helicopter, with no public nor personal exposure].”

    • Ken M

He’s saving what could be described as “empathy,” for his trip to Vegas tomorrow. Then he be meeting with “real” Americans. Flags at half mast and all.

      • clay

Seriously, he had to specify yesterday that it was a Country music concert, ‘cuz it wouldn’t have been as important if it had been Folk or Rock or Blues or Hip Hop.

        • RoFaWh

This may demonstrate that the GOP concept of their “base” includes “only listens to country music.”

    • kaydenpat

That would be a blessing for the PR people.

  • Rex

Proud of a President who in a time of crisis blames the victims. MAGA!

  • Rebecca Gardner
  • Butch

Does Air Farce 1 have to cross the Bermuda Triangle to get to Puerto Rico? Is it too much to hope that……

    • Phillip in L.A.

  • Todd20036

I suppose he’s doing better with the Las Vegas tragedy.
Those people should have gone to the concert armed. They need to suck up a few bullet holes.
    One shot killed them. Sad.

  • William

I hope the locals pelt Trump with shit.

    • GayOldLady

No need to waste good shit like that.

      • David Walker

Anything they scoop up off the ground is probably gooey, stinky, and has the ability to stick to the best Chinese suits. Go to it, people! You have nothing to lose but… Come to think of it, you have nothing to lose.

    • ColdCountry

Damn, I could hit harder than that last woman and I’ve got two destroyed rotator cuffs. I may only manage one swing, but it would be better than that!

  • GayOldLady

How’s he going to get there? Puerto Rico is an island, surrounded by water, big water, ocean water!

    • kaydenpat

He’s so full of himself that he could just float.

      • thatotherjean

There’s so much of Himself that he could just float—until the sharks got him.

        • kaydenpat

What did sharks do to you that you’d want them to poison themselves like that? For shame!!

    • William

The airplane has to wear water wings.

    • KarenAtFOH

“His” people will fly him there at taxpayer expense.

    • Adam King

He’ll have everything done for him, just like those lazy brown people.

    • ColdCountry

A hot air balloon, which he will inflate himself.

  • another_steve

Las Vegas and Puerto Rico are blessings for Trump and his political party.

Virtually zero talk in the media about Mueller and Russia.

    • Todd20036

      Mueller is not deterred.

    • KarenAtFOH

The Facebook data is now being examined, and Mueller is grilling lower level WH staff. They get to work in peace, and more days have gone by without trump firing Mueller.

      • another_steve

I don’t see a scenario whereby Trump does not eventually order Mueller fired. I just don’t see it.

        Do you, Karen?

    • ColdCountry

That’s OK. I’m sure Mueller is still on the job.

  • BostonBud

Oh. My. God. these people need help NOT platitudes! Just shut up already. Why is it always grades. Just do the job and stop blaming anyone. I’m ready to wretch at his ugly fat ego constantly touting everything he does especially when he wrong.

  • Ken M

Well, many claim they voted for him because they wanted to see what someone who knew business, but had never been a politician, could do to change things. Safe to say they’re getting their answer. Let’s hope at least some are regretting they voted for him.

    • RoFaWh

The difficulty with that stance is that Trump is no businessman, witness his many bankruptcies and his endless petty thievery.

  • Tatonka

Honestly I couldn’t care less what stream of garbage is currently dribbling out of this guy’s lips, unless it begins with “I resign.”

    • Todd20036

Or, “I will only answer any questions through my lawyer….”

    • thatotherjean

Unless it’s poking Kim Jong Un with a sharp stick, or denying someone rights they already fought for and won. I do worry about those things. “I resign.” would be fantastic, though.

  • vorpal 😼

As a heartfelt expression of gratitude for all he’s done, I suggest we completely revamp the Oval Office for this return.

  • The_Wretched

Damn. I hoped he’d moved on and left the military and FEMA to do their jobs. NPR had a clip of Donny the Unfit this morning. He was very happy that the mayor was on his side now and that he gave himself an A+ rating for TX, FL and now PR. Total asshole.

    • kaydenpat

Who does that? He is beyond bizarre. Not normal.

      • DreadPikathulhu

Typical narcissist. My old boss was the same way. No one was as great at his job as he was.

Watch how President Blustering Pussy changes his tune while he’s in Puerto Rico. It suddenly won’t be their fault, and he will have nothing but kind words for them…UNTIL he returns to the mainland….and returns to his hateful narrative.

He lacked the testicular fortitude to talk about the wall, when he visited Mexico, despite all his earlier bluster…just as he’s incapable of actually firing people in person.

Most of the Puerto Ricans I know speak quite frankly. I hope they demonstrate that special trait in droves…overwhelming the Liar ‘N Qweef with their thundering truth, anger & outrage.

    • Gerry Fisher

Bonus points for “Liar ‘N Qweef.” 🙂

  • Tawreos

Facebook was at it again, I saw people sharing stories from people that are, supposedly, in Puerto Rico saying everything is fine and Trump is doing a great job. People will believe a meme over real news outlets.

    How long would he last?

    • thatotherjean

      About ten minutes.

  • Ken M

Considering barely 10% of Puerto Ricans use English as their language (it is one of two official languages) He’s likely to get off easy and undermine their inability to speak and understand English. Anyone know if he’s going to be using an interpreter?

If only there had been a vice presidential candidate in 2016 who was bilingual in English and Spanish…

    • Paula

      Trump be like

      • RoFaWh

He is so startlingly ignorant that that line would come as no surprise at all.

    • Tomcat

Hell, he needs an interpreter to speak to mainland Americans.
His gibberish is inexcusable for a leader.

  • Gerry Fisher

He’s made a crass calculation that he’ll use this as red meat thrown to his base, combined with the narcissist’s need to act aggressively toward any criticism. It’s inhumane and evil. I dream of dancing in the streets, a bit buzzed and euphoric, when he falls.

  • Richard B

What a shitty thing for a POTUS to say to the victims of a colossal disaster

    • Tomcat

Were you expecting HIM to say anything good about them BROWNS.

  • Tomcat

If I were Puerto Rico I would be looking to find a new parent country, like Canada or at the least a country that cares about them.

    • Lizard

Just for the record, this is just the kind of negligence that often sparks revolutions for independence.

      • Tomcat

And I would not be surprised if Russia is telling trump how to convince them they want independence. One more country on the splits for Russia to conquer.

        • kareemachan

Well, they don’t want to be a state. They showed that the last time they voted on it.

          • thatotherjean

Actually, when they held a vote last June, 97% of the responders voted for statehood–but the turnout was quite small. I suppose most people have given up.

      • thatotherjean

I doubt that they have the resources to sustain independence.

    • Tomcat

Canada please adopt Puerto Rico they are victims of a abusive parent country now.

  • aagold76 .

I hope they show up in droves to boo him every where he goes when he gets there!

    • thatotherjean

But they probably won’t. They need help, and he’s the one who authorizes it. Otherwise. . .

Thoughts and prayers,,,, for the plane to go down just offshore.

  • M Jackson

Imagine if talked about the victims of the hurricane as much as he talked about himself and how much he’s loved in Texas. I know it’s difficult, but imagine.

    • RoFaWh

I wouldn’t be surprised in the least. Trump is a barrel of bad with no bottom to it.

  • Tomcat

Amazing how trump (who made out) when New York was allowed to file bankruptcy and the American citizens bailed them out of a deep debt they could not endure.
The shoe is on the other foot now and all he says is they can’t run themselves and are lazy and don’t deserve any help from us.

    • RoFaWh

Of course he says that. Brown skins, you know.

  • Halou

Puerto Ricans are the ones in need. How can it be their responsibility to provide the help?

    • thatotherjean

The suitable response to Trump’s demand for more help from “the locals” (how? with what?), ends with “. . .and the horse you rode in on.” If they weren’t dong all they possibly could, they wouldn’t have survived this long.

  • mikeinftl

Once again he is treating US citizens as servants.

  • RMJ

Not sure if this has been added to the discussion yet but when communications are restored and the full account is known, I think we’re going to hear a very different story – one of the things that bothers me a lot about this story is the report of militarization of the morgues – Hmmm… Wonder why anyone would need to suppress the actual estimation of the number of dead and it would make sense that this is why the mayor of San Juan is so adamant that people are dying:

    http://www.miamiherald.com/news/weather/hurricane/article176670706.html

“The source estimated that last week they certified more than 250 deaths. Still unknown is how many of these deaths will ultimately be attributed to Hurricane Maria.”

    • JackFknTwist

That is a very interesting post. Thank you.

    • Halou

69 island hospitals are counting fatalities, but the government insists there are only 16 dead. Who to trust? The people in Puerto Rico, or a wannabe tyrant who was until jusr recently practicing his golf swing more than 1500 miles away?

  • JackFknTwist

You may have noticed, ( or not ), the rest of the world has moved on.
    Trump/turd is yesterday’s man.
The USA is yesterday’s stale news.
The “more perfect Union” is a sham to keep the masses deluded about flags and songs and kneeling. What a farce.

Global cooperation can’t wait while Trump/turd fiddles.
Rome, ( aka the world) is burning while Tump/turd is spluttering with Kim and while the Muller Sisyfian Rock rumbles downhill.

Macron and Merkel have no interest whatever in what Trump/turd has to say. It will all be soon undone.
It’s like a bad dose of the runs. It will pass.

    • Halou

I’ve noticed that European-American cooperation is becoming more and more of an ‘as neccessary’ affair and less of the ideologically driven alignment it was with previous presidents. Perfectly exemplified by the UN Human Rights Council vote, when asked if killing homosexuals should be legal America sided with the world’s tyrants while the rest of the west remained true to themselves.

      • JackFknTwist

I suspect , and it seems obvious, that Merkel and Macron have decided that any dialogue with Trump/turd is hopeless. Trump/turd is not briefed properly on any global issue, he has no grasp on the Paris Agreement, he only retains the information of the last 5 mins and he has no intellectual input to contribute.

Merkel on the other hand is notorious for forensic preparation…..she spends days familiarising herself with detail.
She is a formidable politician……….and does not suffer fools, gladly or otherwise.

        • kareemachan

Too true. The look she gave him was priceless and telling.

          • JackFknTwist

I think she cannot abide sloppy preparation……..she can tussle with a well briefed opponent on fiscal or EU policy issues; she knows the complexities of the Brexit issue; but when she talks with Trum/turd and it’s like talking with a fog.

            There’s just nothing there.

        • thatotherjean

I do so wish that Chancellor Merkel could have worked with President (Hillary) Clinton. They are so much alike, they could have sorted out the world’s ills between them.

          • JackFknTwist

So much time has been lost on this POS Trump/turd.
So much progress has been stultified.

“The Closing of the Western Mind” – when Christianity insisted of faith as against any scientific inquiry in the Middle ages stultified civilization for centuries….and threw Galileo in prison.
But I think we can undo everything Trump/turd piss es on; like a dose of the runs, he will pass soon.

  • Hank

What took in Las Vegas is indeed a National Tragedy. However, until Rethuglicans and politicians ACTUALLY do something to prevent the purchase and owning os Semi-automatic weapons, etc. I am at the point of Ho Hum.

I want the News coverage, to GO BACK to Puerto Rico, and keep the pressure on, in order to avoid an American Humanitarian Tragedy!!!

    • kareemachan

Not surprised that the repugs were too cowardly to talk about it on TV this morning….

  • BobSF_94117

Their roads cannot possibly be cleared already. I’m on STT and our roads, though driveable, still have downed power and telephone lines on them and hanging wires and leaning poles above them.

    • JackFknTwist

pardon ….are you on St. Thomas ?

      I’m worried about St. Croix.

      • BobSF_94117

        Yes, St. Thomas.

Haven’t heard much about STX except that they’re still under a pretty tight curfew. We’re free to roam about between 6 AM and 7 PM on STT.

        • JackFknTwist

I am waiting to get down there with my BF. We need to see what damage has been done…….and we have no info. on casualties.

    • clay

The highway is cleared, and most of San Juan’s streets (but without power for the stop lights). The interior roads are mostly not.

      • BobSF_94117

“The highway”. Which highway? Which highways? Which main roads? Which local roads. There’s just no freaking way they can be cleared. And if they are, send whoever did it over to STT and STX.

  • Jack

Just help them get the resources they are lacking because of uh HURRICANES. A word, BTW, with Caribbean origins.

He appears to be trying for new lows every day. Between this an the fact that he is saying that PR will have to figure out how to help pay for rebuilding he highlights how much of a sick bastard he is.

  • Friday

Drumph, you can *maybe* say that if you do *your* job *before* a week of golfing if there’s ever a next time for you.

  • david fairfield

What they need more than anything is fuel and water. How do the local people help with that, FUCKING ASSHOLE?

  • Sean

    Did it bring the trophy?

It is NOT their job to help you Dotard Trump. You, the military, & the first responders are THEIR servants (which you all chose & swore willingly & voluntarily & to be); therefore it is YOUR jobs to help them. If they are strong enough to help they will, but you no authority to order or demand they help you. They are NOT your property. Start behaving like a servant you [email protected]$king insubordinate ingrate instead the king you think you are.

P.S. If you had responded 100% the DAY OF like you did for Texas & Florida instead of playing golf & waiting over a week to start doing something (only after Hillary Clinton began the public shaming of your failures & hesitations) things might not have been as chaotic & forgone in PR as they are now. Maybe if you spent more time helping people instead of bullying, projecting, & deflecting. You were quicker to respond to athletes practicing their first amendment rights to protest racial injustice & a mass shooting in Vegas made possible by YOUR party than you were to respond to the suffering of 3million+ Americans in Puerto Rico. Further more you have YET to call them “our fellow Americans”. EVERY single time you refer to them as the “people of puerto rico” while you had NO problem acknowledging the people of Texas, Florida, & Vegas as Americans. Hmmm I wonder why.

  • JCF

As Colbert (I think? Unless it was Trevor Noah) said last night: the man who LITERALLY has a special button he presses to bring him a Diet Coke…says “Puerto Ricans aren’t doing enough”.

  • Marides48

An A+ rating from the D Trump asshole rating service?
