Breitbart Calls For Boycotting Uber After Company Sues Renegade Ad Agency To Keep Their Ads Off Breitbart

Via Breitbart:

Ride-sharing company Uber has demanded that their advertisements be removed from Breitbart News claiming that they want “nothing to do with” the website.

Uber demanded that any advertisements for their app be removed from Breitbart News earlier this year. However, Uber is now claiming that the advertising agency used to publish their ads on the internet continued to publish Uber ads on Breitbart.

Uber filed a lawsuit against the advertising agency Fetch in a California court on Monday for failing to remove the advertisements from Breitbart.

An Uber spokesperson claimed, “Fetch was running a wild west of online advertising fraud, allowing Uber ads on websites we wanted nothing to do with.”

It seems that Uber is so determined to remove their advertisements from Breitbart that they do not want readers of one of the most popular websites on the Internet as customers.

As you can see above, today the activist Twitter account Sleeping Giants reached another landmark in their campaign to drive advertisers away from Breitbart.

  • Under fascist authoritarian rule, not only is some free speech banned, other speech is compelled. As in, Breitbart apparently thinks it’s owed and entitled to ad revenues even from those who don’t want to advertise on their platform.

Could not have said it better myself.

Memo to Breitbart Readers: Everybody Hates You. A Lot.

  • Tawreos

I guess whining about dropping ad revenue is easier than being the type of site people want to advertise on.

  • fiizok

It is becoming increasingly obvious that Breitbart exhibits nearly all of the characteristics of being a cult.

    • Cuberly

It’s practically a doomsday cult really. Their underlying philosophy appears to be burn everything down & have nothing to fill that void once it’s all gone.

      • vorpal 😼

You’re absolutely right: the US, and even the world by blindly ignoring things like climate change.

If they were a suicide cult, I would be celebrating them.
Unfortunately, their real goal is to make liberals miserable, regardless of the consequences.

        • zhera

Happy Birthday, my sweet chat noir! I hope your day is splendid and spectacular!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

          • vorpal 😼

Awwww, merci beaucoup, ma chère zhera!
My day has been lovely and full of kitty cuddles.
(I have a black cat now sitting on my chest and I can barely see the screen. I just got back from the pool and the smell of chlorine drives him completely into a lust-bonkers amorous mess of purring and headbutting!)

          • zhera

I’m gonna have to move to that city you’re in. It sounds so lovely. Are there any single, straight, hot guys in your neigborhood?

You give those furballs som love from me!

          • vorpal 😼

It’s really beautiful here and I’m incredibly lucky to be in this city! One of my favourite parts of going to the pool is the view from one part of the hill on the way down where I can see the mountains all around us, the Pacific Ocean stretching out across the horizon, and the interesting architecture of the city below.

I’m sure we could rustle up a decent sized herd* of single, straight, hot guys for you to pick from if I was able to convince you to move down here. 😸

            * Not sure the technical term for a grouping of single, straight, hot men. =grins=

          • Nic Peterson

The proper grouping term is ‘sausage party’.

          • vorpal 😼

            Ha! Yes! Thank you :-).

          • Todd Allis

Thanks, I didn’t see them listed with the other venery terms.

          • zhera

            Sounds wonderful!

Of course, they’ve never GOTTEN to that level of the game before in their lifetimes, so this should be fun.

      • The_Wretched

The central lie is that they have no designs on the ‘fill’. The ‘fill’ is Dominionist christianity.

  • Cuberly

In clips of Bannon speaking at that alt-universe rally for Roy Moore I practically fell over laughing when he started ranting about taking down the elites. In his list of elites he rambled off Silicon Valley was the last one he mentioned.

I wonder what Peter Thiel thinks of all this.

    • FAEN

Peter is probably in bed with a hot Kiwi celebrating his NZ citizenship.

Says a lot when someone kind of in your administration plonks down a good bit of money to buy citizenship in a country on the other side of the world. Just saying.

  • vorpal 😼

Look on the Breitside: they will always have Hobby Lobby, Masterpiece Cakeshop, SweetCakes by Melissa, and Arlene’s Flowers.

Also that “no gays” bait shop that nobody will probably remember.

    • TominDC

Don’t forget that pizza shop in Indiana that absolutely won’t cater gay weddings!

The line of disappointed gay men must be, oh, about zero deep.

      • Adam King

I’ve never gotten married because I’m so heartbroken I can’t get the right kind of amateurish take-out pizza.

  • Max_1
  • Frostbite

Well they can make it up with subscription fees on their reader base, right? Their base can read can’t they? I’m sure they have tons of disposable cash to burn, right?

  • Bad Tom

Uber’s having serious issues all around. Continuing to be associated with Breitbart would be just one more woe.

  • FAEN

Booking Uber now. Not a perfect company but I’ll take them pissing off BreitBS any day.

    • TampaZeke

Or you could just go with Lyft and get three birds with one stone.

      • FAEN

        Good idea smarty pants 😉

    • vorpal 😼

I always feel so “git off mah lawn!” given that I have never used Uber or AirBnB before and have stuck with taxis and hotels. (They’re fairly cheap here.)

Good news: bathing suit has been put on! The hard part of swimming is now over. Now all that remains is the easy peasy part where I travel to the pool, do the laps, and then travel back home.

Hope wherever you are headed is fun!

      • FAEN

        Pics my hot man-PICS 😈

            Oh I am 😈.

  • Do Something Nice

Good for Uber, but I still want them to go belly up. They are despicable.

  • Gustav2

Frank Luntz had a group bitch session for Ohio Trump voters on CBS, they complained they were left behind, one reason was Uber didn’t serve their areas. What they neglected to say is in rural small towns and exurbia they have to call a day ahead to get regular cab service.

Uber is so afraid, so very, very, afraid.

    • safari

It is a tradeoff for living in their area.

    • Adam King

I live in small-town Ohio. We’ve never had any kind of cab service. Never bothered me a bit. Never even occurred to me to want it.

  • safari

CHIP and DSH will expire since Congress wasted time. The good is that most states have a buffer for CHIP; some, however, don’t have much of one.

    • Lumpy Gaga

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-TX), the chair of the committee, waved away
concerns, telling reporters: “We’re going to reauthorize it, hopefully
before the end of the month, or shortly thereafter.”

These? You need these nitro pills right here, Senator Hatch?

Don’t worry. We’ll get them to you before the end of the month, or shortly thereafter.

  • Lumpy Gaga

Soooo, no more dashcams of douchey, privileged frat-bros racially harassing uber drivers??

    • Tawreos

There will still be those, these folks have never been much good on following through with things. Plus, they like a captive audience that they can abuse for awhile.

  • safari

    Sarah will yammer at 2:30ET

    • vorpal 😼

They started her makeup and frocking at 11:00 ET.

      • PickyPecker

Oops…read that as ‘makeup and flocking.’ LOL

        • vorpal 😼

LOL I didn’t know until spell check confirmed it that “to frock” was actually a verb.

And here I thought as a software developer, I was supposed to be programming the computer…

        • Lazycrockett

she could use a good flogging.

      • Adam King

But did they muck out her stall and change the hay?

  • TampaZeke

There are tons of good reasons to boycott Uber. I already do. This one isn’t one of them.

  • Todd20036

People who use Breitbart probably don’t use Uber anyway. I don’t think Uber gives a shit about the snowflake Nazis.
If they did, they would advertise there.

    • Do Something Nice

Uber is trying to remake re-characterize themselves as a decent company. They had no problem advertising with Brietbart until the press started reporting on their sexual harassment issues. They still suck but I support them in doing this.

      • MonochromeMouse

Their CEO was recently ousted and replaced. All of that stuff happened on his watch, they have a new CEO now who is actually doing something about all the sexual harassment issues.

        • Do Something Nice

But they still have a lot of other issues that are part of their core business model so the new CEO isn’t going to help. The worst is that they operate at a huge loss – more than $2 billion last year and it is estimated that what they charge for a ride is 40% less than the ‘break even’ amount. It is predatory to put all competition out of business. And then there is the issue of how they treat drivers. No, they deserve to die.

        • Brian Burleson

While it’s a good start, it’s still a pretty fucked up company. They have lots of work to do to repair things.

    • vorpal 😼

Where do Breitbartians have to go, anyway?
Doesn’t the trailer park have all the amenities they need?

      • Adam King

Their friends’ moms’ basements have better Cheetos than their own moms’ basements.

        • vorpal 😼

Unfortunately, that boycott of reality that they’re holding prevents them from stepping into the great outdoors.

    • Lazycrockett

Can you ask for white only drivers?

  • PickyPecker
    • Jamie_Johnson

How do you know it’s a good day in America? Andrew Breitbart is still dead.

  • Leo
    • Lantor

ugh…he’s got the best money can buy

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

Would a Breitbart reader really use Uber? What if a Mooslem shows up?

  • LeftyNYC

Breitbart, stop trying to make Fetch happen.

  • Tomcat

I would love to say I care,,,, but.

  • Elsewhere1010

The special snowflakes seem to be melting down…

  • Gigi

It’s a toothless boycott if none of your readers actually use the service. It’d be like me telling my friends to boycott Breitbart. 😉

  • vorpal 😼

Bretibart just needs to develop its own line of profitable apps.
Here, I will help with some brainstorming:
    = HateMate
    = TrailrBnb
    = MonstrTruck
= KKKloathing (for all your hooded needs)

    • JWC

Just waiting for some wag to come out of the woodwork and say a century ago he fucked Bannon

  • JAKvirginia

Gee, what has BriteFart got against freedom? Maybe they could get those “Moms” to help. Their boycotts always work.

    • vorpal 😼

The fact that they have to share it with other people.

      • JAKvirginia

And yet, in a way they don’t. Freedom manifests itself in many ways. It’s different for different people. All they have to do is embrace the concept of freedom, not it’s myriad expressions. They apparently have no idea what freedom is.

  • MDixon34

If Uber could find my house I’d totally start using them for this. Lyft will continue to be my choice.

  • Ham

Uber doesn’t want Breibart customers. Breitbart calls for an Uber boycott from it’s readers. Am I missing something?

  • Michael Angelo III

I’ve heard that Uber is the ride of choice for Brietbart white supremacists when they attend their rallies. I’m sure that Uber is terribly worried about losing absolutely no potential business whatsoever.

  • Ore Carmi

While not a fan of Uber, I’m rooting for them in this case.
