Homocon Drudge Rips Trump’s “Betrayal” On Tax Plan

The Hill reports:

The Drudge Report’s Matt Drudge sent out a rare tweet Wednesday morning criticizing the GOP for making concessions to Democrats on taxes and health care, saying there is no longer an “illusion” of difference between the two major parties.

“First keep Obamacare, now raise taxes on top earners? At least illusion there is difference between parties is finished once and for all!” Drudge said, taking aim at proposals in the new GOP tax plan.

The website also led with a scathing headline: “More Betrayal Republican Plan to Raise Taxes.” Republicans Wednesday unveiled their framework for a major tax overhaul, which includes big cuts to corporate taxes and lowering individual tax rates, and completely nixing the estate tax.

But the plan also says that “an additional top rate may apply to the highest-income taxpayers to ensure that the reformed tax code is at least as progressive” as the current one.

  • Deanosaur

You’d have to be pretty dang stupid to still believe that today’s GOP serves anyone but the super-wealthy and corporate self-interest. Really, truly stupid, Matt.

    • FAEN

He’s had really, truly stupid covered for decades.

  • Randy503

“Raise taxes on the rich? Hell no! We want you to lower taxes on the rich, raise taxes on me, and then cut the Medicaid I rely on! IT’s what my preacher tells me God wants, after all.”

    • Uncle Mark

Your preacher takes Luke 20 to heart with the whole “Blessed are the poor, for their’s is the kingdom of God” thing. He’s just making sure there are a lot more of those “poors” now

    • jerry

Yeah, the proposals I’ve seen coming from them so far actually raise the lower tax rates, while lowering the upper tax rates…i.e. the GOP proposals we’ve come to know and love.

    • MonochromeMouse

Remember Jesus said that in heaven the rich men get camels while the poor get poked in the eye with needles or something like that.

      • Harley

I think it was “It’s easier for trump to pass through the anus of a camel than for Joel Osteen to open his doors to the poor.” Or something like that.

  • Gustav2

The MSM keeps calling this ‘The Blue State Punnishment’ when Midwestern taxpayers that won the election for Trump will get hit when they take away the state income tax deductions

    • Dagoril

But not like a gay wedding cake. Totally a not-gay piece of cake!

      • Jay Silversmith

No frilly frosting or rosettes, either

  • FAEN

Traitorous gay Nazi is complaining about what now?

    • JCF

  • Tulle Christensen

Since they failed at gutting medicaid, they need the new tax tier to keep the appearance of it being revenue neutral

edit: that is deficit neutral not revenue — oops

    • Bluto

I don’t see how this is even deficit neutral. Funny how deficits only matter when we have a democratic prez.

      • Tulle Christensen

It’s not, but they want to claim it is….

The independent evaluations I have seen say an additional 1.5 trillion in extra deficit over ten years

      • clay

It sounded to me like they’re suddenly okay with adding $1.3 trillion to the deficit. After all, Obama did (not, the deficit had significant reductions over his two terms).

  • Tawreos

You sold out to people that hate gays and you don’t even get a tax cut. You poor poor thing….Sorry, I can’t stop laughing at this asshole.

  • Karl Dubhe

    Ending the estate tax entirely?

That’s a great way to build yourselves a lovely little aristocratic nation.

Are you sure you want to do that?

    • Gustav2

Of course they do. It worked for the UK!

      • Karl Dubhe

        Oh, sure it did. (snicker)

Ever hear of a White Elephant? 🙂

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

And who (pray who) would benefit most by doing away with the estate tax??
This admin is absolutely the most corrupt in history!

      • Karl Dubhe

Well, surely not the guy who proposed the deal.

It’s his kids who will benefit from his crooked ideals and deals.

      • nowaRINO

Trump also just said on MSNBC the $10 million exclusion in the inheritance tax was not enough for farmers, small businesses.

“Back in 2012, most tax experts had considered the estate tax issue resolved when, on New Year’s Eve, the Republican-majority Congress and President Obama reached a so-called grand bargain on taxes. As part of that deal, the current estate tax exemption was set, with annual increases indexed to inflation.

With that agreement, more than 99 percent of Americans were exempted from the estate tax.”

    • Daveed_WOW

Yes. He’s sure. His party has wanted to do this for decades. They’ve got this.

  • Max_1

  • another_steve

The challenge for congressional Democrats in the upcoming tax reform debate will be to ensure that they do absolutely nothing – zippo – that can/will result in the orange sexual predator getting a bill that his supporters like – thus handing Trump an “accomplishment” – while at the same time not coming across as obstructionist.

    A difficult needle to thread.

    • j.martindale

I think people by and large expect obstruction nowadays. I certainly do. Don’t know whose mind would be changed by the Dems being obstructionists.

  • Kelly Lape

The estate tax is what keeps us from becoming a monied aristocracy. Inherited wealth is not earned wealth. No longer are all American’s created equal even in “theory”

  • Todd20036

Drudge really needs to dry up and go away. He’s just bitter because he has to pay for anyone to touch him

    • JWC

He is an awful lot like Roger Stone. Saying stupid things to get mentioned when no one really cares They have to feel relative

      • Craig Howell

        “Relevant,” not “relative?”

        • JWC

          either works

  • MikeBx2

How odd. He seemed like such a trustworthy guy when they voted for him. /s

  • goofy_joe

Democrats never needed to be the party of opposition, the Rethugs are doing a fine job stopping themselves from getting anything done.

  • Nic Peterson

Oh poor little Matt. Who would have ever guessed that 45 would have disappointed little old you? I feel for you, dude.

    • vorpal 😼

      LOL! Awesome Arrested Development reference!
Good day to you, Picky Pecker! I hope it’s shaping up well so far!

      • PickyPecker

Good day, sweet Kitty! Our heatwave has broken finally and it is a lovely autumn day here! I got Paddington at the Greenhouse making him work selling chrysanthemums and pumpkins. 🙂

        • fuzzybits

Today is our last day of 90 degree weather. Tonight is supposed to go down to 57. And tomorrow 71!

          • PickyPecker

Is just after noon here and it’s 65F/sunny. Supposed to get down into the upper 40’s tonite. Bliss compared to the last week of brutal heat.

          • fuzzybits

Tell me about it. Still dealing with a cold that has creeped into my lungs. The cool breezes will be coming from your direction. 🙂

        • fuzzybits

We need to go soon and get our pumpkins and corn shocks. We drive south out of the city to this fun older man who has a farm and displays pumpkins and gourds at a huge pumpkin show south of here also.

          • PickyPecker

Makes me giggle that people buy corn shocks. I can walk out my back door 75 feet and I’m in a corn field. 🙂

          • fuzzybits

I know. Where I grew up you I could’ve done that too. Luckily he doesn’t charge that much.

        • clay

I read that as you were “making him work smelling chrysanthemums and pumpkins.”

        • vorpal 😼

Fantastic about the heat wave! Here it is a comfortable 58F. I would say that spring is in the air but the temp here across the year ranges from about 50F – 75F, and I barely notice the difference!

Glad to hear that adorable Paddington is doing his best to earn his keep! If you get a chance, please post more pics of him. His lovely little puppy self made me smile!

Good day so far for the most part here. Got some great news that a very stressful situation is finally over with happy, positive results.

In less good news, HR (which is notoriously incompetent here) never bothered processing my disability paperwork (filed a month ago), which will mean pay delays. Not a big deal, really, but an annoyance nonetheless. I have a meeting to go yell at them in a few minutes.

Maybe I’m just being unreasonable by expecting them to provide humans (and black kitties) with resources. 😸

    • Daveed_WOW

It makes me want to touch the man inside me.

    • Sam_Handwich
      • Todd20036

How brain dead do you have to be to get THAT wrong?

    • PickyPecker

      Handsome woman.

    • Tulle Christensen

I fully support Jared’s option to tell us what gender he identifies as

    • Christopher

Well, that explains why he sounds the way he does.

  • Rex

    You know, infighting IS funny.
Also, anyone who believes a word Trump says is stupid.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

O/T: Another Steve, does this change anything?

“…Jared Kushner is registered as a female voter in the state of New York, according to Wired.com. Public records show that when he registered to vote in New York in 2009, Kushner checked the box marked “female” for his gender, although it is presumed to be a simple mistake and not an intentional act of deception…Kushner’s prior New Jersey voter registration lists his gender as “unknown,” said Wired.”

  • HZ81

ZOMG they can’t believe a serial liar lied to them about something the GOP lies about constantly – taxes.

Eat shit, Drudge. You contributed big time to the dummytization of this country. Fuck off.

  • Treant

Ha! No, they haven’t said they’d raise taxes, so this is an early manipulation so they can later say taxes won’t change.

    They’re really very transparent.

  • Friday

“Earners.” Heh, at the ‘top’ that’s not bloody likely.

  • Richard

Lets face it, Republicans can’t cut taxes for everyone, so they cut taxes for their real constituents, i.e., big corporations and millionaires and billionaires. They can’t cut taxes for the middle class or working poor…SOMEBODYS gotta pay the bills !

  • PiperPine

May this start so much infighting it grounds into a morass of snarling annoyances and petty grievances.

  • Lars Littlefield

So it appears that one notorious JMG commenter is really into girls who look like little boys.
