Trump Petulantly Withdraws White House Invite From NBA Star Who Already Said He Doesn’t Want To Go

The Hill reports:

President Trump on Saturday said the “invitation is withdrawn” for Stephen Curry to visit the White House because the NBA All-Star “is hesitating.” All-Star Warriors guard Stephen Curry said this week he didn’t want the team to visit the White House to celebrate their NBA championship title.

“I don’t want to go,” Curry told reporters on Friday. He said in June he “probably” wouldn’t go to the White House, and this week said he didn’t think the team should go either. Managers said they will discuss the decision as a team in an open forum.

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Friday’s media day was the first time the team had gathered since their NBA championship parade. Though the possible White House visit has been a talking point throughout this very short offseason, there has never been an official discussion about the topic.

The leader of the team, Stephen Curry, made it clear where he stands. He already said earlier in the summer he didn’t want to make the visit. “My views haven’t changed,” he said. “I don’t know if they can be changed. “I don’t want to go. That’s the nucleus of my belief. If it was just me, it would be a pretty short conversation.”

I’ve loved Steph Curry since the interview where his daughter upstaged him. A true Pro and role model for all.

    • gaycuckhubby

      That was an adorable interview!

As if anyone with two brain cells to rub together needed it, what a great way for Benedict Trump to document what an incredibly thin-skinned shmuck he is.

  • Stogiebear

That’s showing him Donnie! Take your balls and go home.

  • Do Something Nice

Get that son of a bitch out of the White House now, he’s fired.

  • gaycuckhubby

I love Curry even more than before! (Which was a lot)
I hope the entire team refuses to go.

    • netxtown

Hopefully they will respond with “all or none”.

      • gaycuckhubby

They were planning on having a team meeting to decide what they would do. I’m sure this solidified their position.
And i’m sure Trump wants them to refuse. Makes him a hero to his base

        • Reality.Bites

The demographics of the basketball audience is younger and more diverse than the Trump base.

If basketball stars can get them fired up against Trump, great.

Things we know about Trump’s base:

          It’s finite.
          It’s shrinking through natural means

If we are able to restore some semblance of honesty to the political process, he’s doomed. I don’t mean REAL honesty, I just mean the usual mess, but not supplemented with bot farms, foreign interference and spending.

    • Me too. And I’m not even a basketball fan. However, I may switch sports. The Giants have not been quite bearable this baseball year…

  • Tawreos

Good to see the Toddler in Chief is at it again, although it would be nice if he surprised every once in a while and acted like a fucking adult

      • CanuckDon

The overall intelligence in the US population would have seen an increase for starters if Gore had rightfully been elected.

      • Chucktech

Yeah, just think: No 9/11, no Afghanistan, CERtainly no Iraq, fetal stem cell cures available by now…

      • Ninja0980

We’d have courts that actually stood for human rights instead of corporations and bigots for one.

      • Steverino

Oh gosh, I can imagine Trump’s head exploding over that. Have Obama there too and he would die of an embolism.

    • Richard

I agree..they should meet with the real presidential winner.

You know, Puerto Rico is going to be without electricity for four months, the Florida Keys are decimated, Houston needs as much help as we can give it, and let’s just leave aside the idea that we could be assisting Mexico as it digs out children from two massive earthquakes . . .

. . . but hey! Here’s a tweet from our President, who feels one of the most pressing issues today is how pissed off he is that an NBA player doesn’t want to visit his racist ass.

    • kaydenpat

Secretary Clinton and President Obama. Heads would explode.

Assholes driving 35 in the passing lane (with no obstructions in front of them) can cause people to pass on the right. In Texas, they pass on the shoulder even if you’re at 10 miles over the speed limit.

  • gaycuckhubby

He knows what he’s doing. Turning scary, uber-rich, black athletes into scapegoats.
My family is middle/lower cast white folks who are itching to blame someone else for their misfortune.
    Trust me, this will work

    • worstcultever

I don’t think it will. He’s now igniting a race war in the corporate sports world. Corporate sports world not going to be happy.

      • gaycuckhubby

I get your point, but the more that corporate sports fights back against him if the more his base rallies towards him.
Middle class white voters in swing States already think that ESPN is too liberal. they already hate the NFL for being too involved in Social justice issues.
And they like watching sports but are jealous and envious of the athletes

      P.S. I love you!

  • gaycuckhubby

Steve Kerr, their coach also hesitated. I wonder why he didn’t call him out?

    Hint… because he’s racist

    • Vira

      Kerr is Jewish.

      • gaycuckhubby

To clarify, I meant Trump is a racist. Not Kerr 🙂

  • worstcultever

I think Dumpy is going to ultimately find that taking his racist insult shitshow into the realm of sports was a very bad idea.

    • clay

What? Trump’s already been a sports star, what with his pro-wrestling career and being the “best ball player in all positions in the entire state of New York” while still in prep-school (odd that those heel spurs ended his brilliant military career, but no mention of them ending his tennis game).

      • worstcultever

  • GayOldLady

After the comment Trump made last night about “fire the SOB” referring to NFL players who don’t stand during the National Anthem, I imagine we’re going to see a lot more athletes who want nothing to do with this POTUS or his administration.

The black athletes who are taking a knee or sitting during the anthem are protesting the constant barrage of injustices against black Americans and POC by Law enforcement, the Judicial system and society in general. If I was at one of those ball games I’d sit too. They have EVERY RIGHT to lodge their symbolic, non-violent protest. More Power to Every Person who stands up for their beliefs.

I would gather that every Rethug agrees with him. Not one has denounced it.

Yeah, but people of color and especially women are supposed to sit down and shut up and only perform when called upon. Let the white men handle this! (It’s like we are in a time machine going back to the 50s–or maybe the 30s.)

    • Upvote is both for Jake Tapper and you, BowlingGreen, for posting it!

  • DaddyRay

Stephen Curry just figured Trump would be indicted by then

  • Natty Enquirer

So what? Trump is a jerk. We have known this for years. He’s still a jerk. Now the question is — how much longer do we tolerate this jerk in the White House? When do the daily protests begin? I guess we have to wait until the economy tanks again.

    • BJORN RAGNVALDR

Sadly, far too many people today can’t tear their faces away from their smart (dumbing down) phone and all the liking, retweeting, reposting, so much so they have disengaged with the world around them. The more chaotic or difficult that reality becomes, the further they retreat. In depth, detailed analysis of nearly anything is no longer in vogue, most arent interested in it, if it doesn’t fit in 140 characters, it does not compute. Many no longer have the patience to fully read, absorb and react to the more troubling news of whats going on around us.

The revolution will be in sound bytes and that doesn’t bode well. Due to some aggravating health issues I can not always be the one to show up at every rally and protest but when the conditions are right, I do. I also make sure that the money I can give is going to support theses efforts

This is not a screed against smartphones, I use one and there are many great uses I have found to stay informed and create conveniences that frees up time to center and focus. It is not however, a friend or constant source of distraction. I rarely answer a call in public places, it is off most of my work day and I engage with people around me wherever I go. Its disheartening how many people are threatened by that today.

      All that being said,

I’ll need you kids to get off my gawddammed lawn…NOW!

The United States Soccer Association then told her she must stand or be kicked off the team.
She now stands without placing her hand on her heart in silent protest,
she’s been a hero of mine for a long time

    • Nowhereman

I agree. And I’m really sick of this forced nationalism. Trump would like to have military parades complete with goose-stepping troops and missiles on trailers and tanks and all. Forcing people to outwardly “respect” their country when their country does not respect them is not patriotism–it is nationalism. Think North Korea and Nazi Germany

      • Steverino

        Exactly. Well-stated.

        • Nowhereman

That’s the gist of it anyway. And unlike Trump, he served his time in jail, while punks like Trump were suffering mysterious bone spurs and carbuncles or like Cheney had “better things to do”…

Anyone would feel privilege and honor to receive an invitation by a president from the White House. Even if it’s George W. That sense of pride was gone when President Barack Obama finished his term. Until the country restore a legitimately elected president, the humiliation and the embarrassment of this Russian installed fascist regime shall not receive any respect from the proud and patriot citizens of United States of America.

In humid weather like this we often get blooms of black mold on siding. Regular bleach works well – but naturally that isn’t a good solution for plantings. There’s a product to retard mold growth but I noticed its active ingredient is the same as that in most pool algaecide, cheaper.

The major signs that converge on September 23rd are indeed amazing, but those are celestial events. They are time markers. The mainstream media states that something visible will occur on these dates. I don’t believe that. The actual event of the beginning of the Tribulation occurs on October 15th. • Jefe5084

      The truth stings.

    • bambinoitaliano

Can’t be coincidence the shit gibbon overlord in Russia is picking on a black actor can it? If there is an Olympic in synchronize rascism and fascism and propaganda events, Putin and Donald Trump will be awarded the triple gold medal already.

    • Bj Lincoln

I had not seen this until now. Damn! Thank you Morgan and all involved in the making of this video. Sadly, the current ‘president’ can’t and won’t bother to be the leader we need.

  • worstcultever

Still not a word about Puerto Rico, USVI, etc. Not to mention the destruction from Irma in FL, or the countless people in TX with shattered homes and lives. I guess he thought his mere presence in TX just fixed it all.

    • Jefe5084

      And of course–cricket sounds–for Mexico.

      • worstcultever

Well if he can’t even GAF about his own country, of course he’s not gonna bother with his favorite punching bag country. Btw he did put out one bullshit tweet about Mexico – “god bless you” – while other normal human statesmen like Trudeau said the normal right things like “we’re devastated at this news, stand ready to help however we can etc” – let’s face it, we simply don’t have a government at all – it’s been handed to a complete worthless toddler cretin who can’t even say please and thank you or spell the word CAT if you spotted him the C and the T

        • Bj Lincoln

          THIS ^^^

  • He’s the spoiled brat who whines when no one wants to come to his birthday party.

  • AdamTh

We have an 11 year old in charge of the White House……

    • Bj Lincoln

We have an old man who thinks like an 11 year old except most kids would do a better job.

      • TexasBoy

You owe 11 year olds an apology. They act more mature.

      • worstcultever

Srsly, I get the idea – but what an insult to 11-y.o.s. The average 11-y.o. has INFINITELY more intelligence, imagination, and communication skills than this creature. Dumpy’s development as a human was arrested in the Terrible Twos and never developed past it.

    • SoCalGal20

More like two year old. Most 11 year olds are much more mature and sophiticated than Trump.

  • John Ruff

Trumpf is such an Indian giver. Oh, wait. That’s not politically correct. I meant, he’s an asshole.

    • AdamTh

      He’s an electoral aberration…

  • IAMBOWLINGGREEN
    • worstcultever

I fucking hope so! Keep bringin’ it, fake prez asshole!

(Btw, even sportsball players WORK for their money – a concept Dipshit Dumpy has never had the slightest acquaintance with)

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

Exactly! But the players are just collateral damage to Donnie.
This is all about tossing red meat to his racist base.

  • Gerry Fisher

Man-Baby burps and hurls and wails again this morning.

  • AdamTh

Slightly OT: Maybe we should all send postcards to White House demanding he get out. Be sure to include your return address:

    SOB/1st Amend Supporter
    Your address….

    • DaddyRay

Miss Manners would suggest – Send a letter so you can include a change of address card

      • TexasBoy

Wouldn’t it be great? Instead of tea bags, the President receives a few million change of address kits from the Post Office.

        • Bj Lincoln

I like this idea. I sent info to every moving company I could find to my ex-sister-in-law to encourage her to get the f**k out of my brother’s house. Her mail box filled up and her phone blew up.

    • Silver Badger

Perhaps you should use the return address of your favorite evangelical.

      • AdamTh

That would be a tough choice…

  • ceeenbee

Of course this comes from a shitgibbon who, after seeing the WTCs fall, bragged that he now had the tallest building in Manhattan. That was, of course, a lie but, it shows what a true patriot the tiny fingered, cheeto-faced, ferret wearing shitgibbon is.

  • TexasBoy

President Trump acts like 4 year old. No news here.

  • Vira

Get that sonofabitch outta the White House. OUTTA THERE!

Instead of a White House visit, the Warriors and the entire NBAPA should do voter registration drives in states where Republicans are vulnerable in the ’18 elections.

    Invite Kapernick to join them.

Send Cheeto Twitler a message about whom to fuck with.

    • Phillip in L.A.

‘Instead of a White House visit, the Warriors and the entire NBAPA should
do voter registration drives in states where Republicans are vulnerable
      in the ’18 elections.’

      Yes, dog-nabbit!

  • IAMBOWLINGGREEN
  • Ninja0980

What a whiny, stupid snowflake Trump is.

  • bambinoitaliano

Blacks are the new Jews in America fascist state.

    • Reality.Bites

Probably because they realized there aren’t enough Muslims and Trans people to go around.

  • JT

DOTUS, Dotard of the United States.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

LOl – I have to steal this, sorry!

      • JT

Be my guest! Make it trending!

  • Dot Beech

Every good thing about this country symbolized by the White House has been smeared with a giant shit stain since Trump’s inauguration. Trump has made it irrelevant that the event takes place in the White House. The only important consideration is that whatever the occasion, Trump will use it as a platform for his own self-aggrandizement. They are all to be avoided by any person with self-respect and a social conscience.

    • JAKvirginia

      Like those Kennedy Center Honorees.

  • Ninja0980

How dare Curry and others still point out the many injustices blacks in this country still face!

    • -M-

I’m sick of this spin where kneeling and bowing their head is disrespectful.

      • Ninja0980

Especially to a song that has a whole different meaning if you play all the lyrics from it.

        • Natty Enquirer

In fact, it’s a bathetic paean to God and war.

      • kareemachan

And for such a savvy businessman, drumpster doesn’t know a thing about the NFL, contracts, etc.

        Amazingly stupid.

        .

  • edrex

why is donnie suprised? even melania doesn’t like spending time at the trump white house.

  • Nowhereman

I know I’m dreaming, but I’d love it it sports teams and other groups who are invited to the White House would decline to go until we have a sane president again. accepting an invitation from the current resident just normalizes his behavior.

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

      No, I’m Dreaming!

    • Phillip in L.A.

(Reagan sample.) “Can we who man the ship of State deny, it is somewhat out of control.”

“The man likes milk, now he owns a million cows/
Can you imagine all that milk? Tell me that I’m dreaming.

Thank you for this. One of the several zillion things I love about JMG is hearing music that is new to me. I like, I don’t like, but I get to hear it.

  • Ken M

Just some fresh magazine cover material We all know how much he loves seeing himself there, even if it isn’t in the most flattering way. Between this and the “NFL firing” idea, he’s probably going to get on the next SI issue.

  • canoebum

The White House used to be such a place of honor, lately, not so much. Lord Dampnut should stop dishonoring the place and leave.

  • TexasBoy
  • Skeptical_Inquirer

John Kelly must be eating bottles of antacids by now.

Why would anybody want to meet him? He’d just to try to squeeze your hands in a handshake and blabber ignorant nonsense.

  • bambinoitaliano

Oh look who is sharing a moment with a real POTUS!

LOL Obama’s face. That’s so cute.

  • TexasBoy
    • -M-

Donnie calls it “hesitant” because he knows his deplorable base won’t question his spin, but what Curry said was in effect, ‘I do not think we should go, if the decision were up to me alone, we absolutely would not go.’

  • CB

Says the president who learned everything about class, grace and decorum from “Mean Girls.”

  • Friday

What a disgrace, this whining manbaby.

  • Christopher
    • Phillip in L.A.

HA! Excellent! Thank you for posting, Christopher!!! 🙂

  • JWC

He posseses none of the qualities of a presiendent, few as a human

  • stevenj

I think I hear a collective sigh of relief coming from the Warriors.

Getting invited to the White House is a great honour. Which is why every dictator, warlord, tyrant and empowered thug around the world is being invited to show up, is it? Trump can’t complain about who does and doesn’t show up when he invited Duterte, murderer-in-chief of the Philippines, over for tea.

  • paganguy

This is just another of his “I didn’t want to do that anyway, and while we’re at it, those grapes were probably sour” tweets.

  • JAKvirginia

If Curry wants to see the White House he can take the tour like anyone else. Upside? He won’t have to deal with your stupid ass. Win, win.

(BTW: It was an honor until you moved in, Donnie.)

  • This is the cheetolini version of “If you won’t let me play, I’ll take my ball and go home.

Is this considered “winning”? Cause if it is, me no likee.

  • NMNative

Going to the white house with it’s current occupants is in no way an honor. You could not pay me to go to little donnies house.

  • David

Dotard the Racist is having another temper tantrum. What a fucking surprise

  • JCF

Going after Colin Kaepernick is one thing. Going after Steph Curry—who EVERYBODY* loves—is another!

    * Klansmen/Nazis excepted—as they are excepted from humanity.

  • Elsewhere1010

“You can’t quite me! I fire!!!”

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
  • rednekokie

I wouldn’t want to go to the White House either, with the current occupant. There’s no telling what sort of cooties you might catch there — the place already needs a deep-clean fumigation.

  • it is clear to me that nothing enrages Dotard J Trump more than any black person refusing to submit quietly and without protest to racial oppression. Also any African American who refuses to express anything but unquestioning support for him.

Erdogan personally orders his security detail to violently assault Americans? Dotard’s fine with it.

Nazis riot and one of them kills a counter-protester? Dotard finds a way to blame the counter-protesters, with language making it clear he thinks they’re primarily at fault.

A person of color peacefully expresses an opinion in opposition to his ingrained racist bigotry? He goes apeshit.

Plus let us not forget: While this draft-dodging treasonous coward was at another ego-fluffing campaign rally, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and numerous U.S. island territories are devastated. Where’s the national mobilization of aid and rescue efforts? Why isn’t our military fully committed to helping rebuild what’s been broken, because they do know how to do this stuff in emergencies?

This MoFo needs to be impeached already.

  • Ann Kah

I see that military school never drummed “sportsmanship” into Trump, any more than it taught him manners. Who’d ever have thought that we would find ourself with a president that makes Kim Jong Un look like a stateman.

  • Robert Miller

So if the president withdraws the invitation he can say there was no invitation. If there was an invitation and the team said no, the president would have to deal with the fact that they did not want to meet him and his ego could not handle that…

  • Marides48

Going to the White House may be an honor. Visiting President Trump would mot.

  • stanhope

Maxine Waters (I think it was) issued an invitation for the team to visit the capitol. Now that would be an awesome slap in the face to the truly white house.
