NBA 2017 Champions: We Won’t Visit White House

Via press release from the Golden State Warriors:

While we intended to meet as a team at the first opportunity we had this morning to collaboratively discuss a potential visit to the White House, we accept that President Trump has made it clear that we are not invited.

We believe there is nothing more American than our citizens having the right to express themselves freely on matters important to them. We’re disappointed that we did not have an opportunity during this process to share our views or have open dialogue on issues impacting our communities that we felt would be important to raise.

In lieu of a visit to the White House, we have decided that we’ll constructively use our trip to the nation’s capital in February to celebrate equality, diversity, and inclusion – the values that we embrace as an organization.

    Good for them.

    • TrueWords

Trump does not want that many black men around him under any circumstance.

Therefore this was a forgone conclusion that he would act this way…

      • Nowhereman

He for dammed sure doesn’t want them counting his money or working the floor at his restaurants!

        • bkmn

Unless they are foreign workers who are afraid to complain for fear of not getting paid their $11.27/hr, especially since they are only part time and seasonal already

      • Bob Conti

Especially black men who earn more than him.

        • Todd20036

          And are more endowed.

          • Christopher

Smurfs are more endowed than Cheetolini!

        • stanhope

Sugar Puddin’ especially Black men with bigger hands shall we say

      • bkmn

He knows that race is a dividing issue and this is his goal

        • TrueWords

Exactly and his supporters LOVE it…it gives them more gasoline…but they will watch their sports and pay their money and the wheel will keep on turning…

      • Todd20036

NOT TRUE!!! Trump refused to rent to black people back in the 70s. These are people who literally would have put money in Trump’s pocket, and Trump still didn’t want them.

        • TrueWords

I am aware of the lawsuit…

        • JWC

          Fred daddy was a KKK

      • JDS

You mean like Dr. McStabby Uncle Tom?

      • stanhope

Sugar puddin’ the D doesn’t want that many Black D’s around the first lady……it’s been so long since……some times you feel like a nut, sometimes ya don’t

    • Mihangel apYrs

please feel sorry for all those little prisoners!

  • Christopher Street

Good decision, thank you, now come back to Oakland!

  • Wynter Marie Starr

LOL, I’m good with anything that gets this manchild to throw a temper tantrum as they are amusing and allow Americans who voted for this racist POS to see his true colors. This should allow for reality for his ignorant base.

    • another_steve

Unfortunately, his deplorables love what Trump said.

      “Uppity negroes,” you see…

      • Wynter Marie Starr

If one person changes their mind, that’s progress.

      • RoFaWh

The word used was not “negroes”.

    • Librarykid

Temper tantrum? I hope the SOB has a grand mal seizure followed by a bad stroke.

      • Wynter Marie Starr

I was trying to be nice. It’s a failing on my part.

        • Christopher

          Thankfully I’m not so burdened.

I hope he falls down the stairs while exiting Air Force One.

I don’t want him to die, I just want the gif of it to watch over and over again.

    • Sadly, every single cheetolini lover I have the unfortunate acquaintanceship of is a gold plated, 100% rock solid racist. They would love it to wake up in a country tomorrow without a single black person, native american, asian, latino, etc within our borders.

      • Wynter Marie Starr

I know you’re right for the most part, Biki. But I do know a woman who has ben working for the democrats once she realized that her party is all abut themselves and could care less about their voters.

        • Then she is an outlier of the folks I know. It’s good to know that not everyone in the GOP who is a cheetolini fan is a racist. There is some hope yet for a brighter more unified tomorrow.

          • Wynter Marie Starr

Agreed. Some people are capable of change once reality smacks them around a bit.

  • rednekokie

Good for you guys — and congrats on your championship. Sportsmanship is truly an American value — and you guys live it every day.
One day, we’ll have a president who does, also.

I’m behind you every bit of the way,

  • Tawreos

I hope the rest of the sportsball teams follow their lead.

  • FAEN

No sportsman or woman who believes in human rights and equality should set foot in the WH.

  • IAMBOWLINGGREEN
    • Max_1

      Beyond asshole… He’s a white supremacist…

  • another_steve

    YAAYY!!!

As many of us have been saying, this latest mental fart of Trump’s was a terrible mistake for him.

Someone call emergency services; General Kelly was last seen entering a White House restroom, razor blade in hand.

    • Steverino

That face palm at the UN the other day was a cry for help.

      • another_steve

        Precious, wasn’t that?

I actually felt momentary sorrow for the man.

        • I did feel sorry for him. I do believe he took that job trying to save our country. He loves this country, or he wouldn’t have been a Marine for all those years. I think at that moment he realized there was no way to steer USSR cheetolini juggernaut into safe waters.

          • another_steve

            I agree.

I have the utmost respect for people who have served in the military, and particularly for military professionals. The vast majority of the latter are good and honorable people.

As I think you’re suggesting, biki, Kelly probably took the job out of a patriotic sense of duty. A duty to protect and defend this nation of ours. He’s not been successful in steering the sexual predator in a new direction. Probably no one can do that.

Kelly needs to resign now, to preserve both his dignity and his legacy.

          • He can’t quit now! Kelly and Mattis are the only people he would listen to about not starting a war. I do wish they would step up about pulling us back from the brink though. All that “show of power”. Fuck that noise, who on this earth doesnt know we have the mightiest military? Not one person. It’s time for Teddy Roosevelt’s saying, “Walk softly and carry a big stick”.

          • another_steve

I think that if Kelly, well-respected by the military community as he is, were to resign, it would send a powerful message to that community and to the entire world that Trump is not a figure who can/should be taken seriously.

At this point in time, I think the best message we can send to North Korea is “Ignore him. He doesn’t represent the American military establishment or American values.”

“Just ignore him and his childish tweets.”

          • When you said to “ignore him” it brought this to mind.
            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlKao_Pox5A

          • RoFaWh

The logical outcome of such thought is a military coup. Betcha a jelly donut that deep inside the Pentagon there exists a plan for such.

My sentiments exactly (although I don’t cuss).

      • UrsusArctos

Good on you and the not cussing. It’s right for some people. I’m using all those cuss words you left on the shelf. My grammar for the most part goes – noun, cuss, verb, cuss, adjective, cuss, noun, cuss.

        • perversatile

When your Mum is hanging out the car window yelling
“get in your own lane you stupid fuckin c*nt!” on the way to kindergarten, has left me pretty much filter free since age 4.

My mother- “Well fuck a duck! Forgive me lord.”

            My Mom’s version of

was ”Shit fire and save a match”.

          • greenmanTN

My mother, whenever someone in the family did something embarrassing: “You sayin’ we ain’t,got class? Sheee-ittt.”

            (She normally spoke grammatical English)

Seeing someone displaying wealth ostentatiously: “If I had his money and he had a feather up his ass we’d both be tickled.”

          • Eli

I never knew the second part of this! We just said “shit fire.” Really is better with both parts. Thanks–the things I learn on this site!

          • Infinite Jest

I like, “Two tears in a bucket: mother fuck it!” to express that sentiment.

Edit to add that I changed my screen name to something easier. NIFP was the old one.

About 1960, my prim aunt Beulah got cut off on an LA freeway, so she stuck her head out the window and yelled….”Lady, you drive like a sore tit!”. A non sequitur, but surprising for her.

There are indications that those who curse fluently are more intelligent.

          https://www.sciencealert.com/swearing-is-a-sign-of-more-intelligence-not-less-say-scientists

Based on that I’m motherfucking Einstein! 😁

          • Christopher

If that’s true, then I’m a goddamned motherfucking genius!

        • My father worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay. It was his true medium, a master.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KjxFDGFKhk&feature=youtu.be&t=29s

        • Infinite Jest

I grew up in a very repressed religion, yet I always love it when my mother (very, very rarely) curses, because she spells it out. I guess she thinks that isn’t as bad as actually saying it. She only does the s-word: s-h-i-t, and she does it very quickly.

I have never in my life heard my father utter a single curse word, unless it was part of a Bible verse he was reading or citing aloud that included the word “hell”. He’s even uncomfortable referring to a fertile female dog as a “bitch”, which is the correct word.

      • FAEN

You don’t cuss? To each his own. I don’t think I can go a day without a a stream of four letter words lol.

      • Hue-Man

Me neither. I quit when I was 10 and after awhile it became like a habit, except a (relatively) good one.

BTW, CBC Radio Ideas program last week was entitled; “Expletive Repeated: Why Swearing Matters”. One thing I learned was that young people don’t have a problem with the cuss words we grew up with but are more upset by personal slurs based on race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation. • vorpal 😼

I don’t understand choosing not to use cuss words. Could you, out of curiosity (no criticism intended), share your reasons for doing so with us?

I can understand not wanting to call people names involving cuss words, but if I accidentally smack my toes on the edge of a table, you can bet that a stream of profanity is forthcoming.

        • kaydenpat

It’s just a personal choice. I’m around quite a few people who cuss up a storm so I’m not judging anyone. Just wasn’t raised like that and haven’t felt the need for it. Just like I’m around some Black people who feel comfortable saying the “N” word amongst themselves. Not something I do but they can have at it.

          • vorpal 😼

Thanks for responding! I appreciate hearing other people’s opinions.

        • JCF

      This was Lebron James response:
U bum @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!

  • MikeBx2

I know nothing of these Golden State Warriors but consider me a fan.

  • pete

whatta great idea. come to washington and celebrate equality, diversity, and inclusion away from trump! 🙂

  • ceeenbee

Maybe the shitgibbon can find a third string team to come to the white house, just like the third string talent it had perform at its inaugural.

    • Librarykid

I wonder if they’ll have an outdoor party lit by Tiki Torches?

    • Remember when cheetolini bought a football team, and then announced he was going to build a football league to rival the NFL?

What has he succeeded in? Not any of these things; airline…steaks…bottled water…..president. He can’t even be a skillful traitor as he has been under investigation from around May of last year!

I hope every Black Player takes a knee tomorrow.

I hope every Player takes a knee tomorrow.

        Great minds.

        • Tulle Christensen

          yep

    • Treant

Hell, I hope every player takes a knee tomorrow in protest of this dingleberry in the White House.

      • FAEN

        Yep!

      • Oscarlating Wildely

I hope that everyone at any sporting event in which the anthem is sung does the same thing.

      • Ninja0980

Yup and the people who say it’s anti-American or a dishonor to those who died..
        kindly fuck off.

    • Cuberly

      I hope they all do.

Meanwhile the majority of the owners backed trump with a massive $$$ warchest for his prez campaign. If they all take a knee I reserve the right to watch the owners piss themselves in rage.

      • David Walker

If all the players take a knee, I reserve the right to give the owners my knee before they piss themselves. It seems an appropriate action, somehow.

    • OdieDenCO

every player, every coach, every ref, every fan….

    • Along with every other player who calls any of them their friend.

    • Nowhereman

I hope that ALL players take a knee tomorrow.

    • David Walker

There’s a computer fix-it store in town with a sign on a wall you can’t miss: Flag burners not welcome here. He was standing at the counter all ready to do business. I read the sign, turned around, and left. I’ve never returned.

This really has become the flag burning controversy of the 20-teens. I never burned a flag but I thoroughly understand why other people did. And I understand and completely support those who find a moment to make a protest statement that riles the rubes. The Supremes ruled that burning a Murkin flag was protected speech. May it ever be so.

      • zhera

It’s insane that a flag should get so much respect and reverence. It’s a piece of cloth. It’s a symbol. Sure, respect it. But only if it represents something you respect. Right now it is the symbol of something deeply disturbing, and it really says it all that the ones whining about flags and national anthems are the same ones who’d like the ten commandments put up everywhere.

They don’t give a shit about free speech.

      • JDS

I’d take a flag, any flag stand outside his store and burn that mother.

    • MarkOH

      So do I!
Oh, are we still talking about football! Oh, yes, for that too.

  • Ray Page

In other words: “Get a stepladder and kiss our collective asses, Donny Dollhands.

  • Cuberly

Well Trump has accomplished one thing. He’s united the alt-right white nationalists and the dog-whistle racist GOP establishment formerly regarded as the norm by conservatives.

Is anyone hearing any sort of criticism of donnie from the anti-trump branch of the GOP?

  • skyweaver

I hope they throw a party, right out there on the national mall. I’d show up, I really would. And I don’t even care about basketball. But I love that this team has shown more understanding of American values than our president has in all these months in office

    • Treant

I thought this was the football thing?

It shows how out of touch I am.

      • OdieDenCO

it’s all part of the great sports overlap.

        • Ken M

This just keeps getting better. NBA and now UNC (college) champions the NC Tarheels won’t be going either. North Carolina is staying home.

          • FAEN

            YES! Go UNC CH.

      • Dayglo

More tickling, less tackling. That’s my motto.

        • BJORN RAGNVALDR

          I usually tickle then tackle.

          • vorpal 😼

Suddenly I find myself in the mood for a little phys ed!

      • It did start out as a football thing. But then Stephen Curry from the Warriors basketball team, commented that he didn’t want to go to the White House to meet the Squatter in Chief. At that point his team decided they weren’t going either, and The Orange Shite Stain™ dis-invited them.

        • Treant

Gotcha, thanks. I don’t know any of the players, the sports, or who’s done what to whom.

          • vorpal 😼

The only part of sports that interests me is the post-game locker room.

I am still shocked by the number of gay men I know online who love hockey and NASCAR. I thought that that was automatic gay disqualification.

          • gaycuckhubby

            I love hockey! And soccer.

          • vorpal 😼

LOL you need to teach me your ways! I feel like a failure of a Canadian since I don’t like watching hockey, and a failure of a resident of South America right now since I don’t watch soccer!

          • FAEN

NASCAR bores me to tears. I freely admit that I’m a tennis fanatic. But who can blame me-tight shorts and shirtless men. WOOF.

          • vorpal 😼

I like playing tennis, but haven’t watched much of it.

One sport I think I could never tire of watching is diving.

I wouldn’t mind them smacking my balls!

          • FAEN

            I know right 😉😏

          • FAEN

How long have you been playing?

            We should hit sometime 😁

          • vorpal 😼

Depends on what version of “hitting balls” we’re talking about. 😽

If we’re talking about the kind with the big racquets and the yellow felt balls, I started playing in my early teens when my parents used to send my brother and I to tennis / sailing camp for the summer, where you’d spend half the day doing one and the other half doing the other, which was a lot of fun.

I haven’t played in ages, though, so I’d be frightfully out of practice. That being said, I would love to play again.

If we’re talking about the “other kind,” I play that quite often. 😼

          • FAEN

Atta boy on both counts 😉😈

          • Treant

Naw, it just makes you one of those delightfully dirty “Fuck me but don’t kiss me” types of gays.

          • UrsusArctos

You NEED to google Heavy Scottish Athletics. Any event that involves people from “dad bod” guys to mountains of muscle spending the day hanging out in parks, in kilts, lifting and throwing heavy objects is surely worth a peek.

      • vorpal 😼

I can never keep track of which sport it is where you bat the puck through the goalposts.

    • Oh I hope they do, and that hundreds of thousands of people show up. All sporting anti-cheetolini signage, and pink pussy hats!

  • MikeBx2
  • dcurlee

They just gave him the finger. Love it

    Dear Barack Obama,

Please invite the Golden State Warriors to visit you.
Show the current President how it’s done.

    America

    • Librarykid

Yeah, extend a “drop by the house” invitation to the visiting teams and have everyone listen for sound of a gut busting at the White House. Everyone would probably prefer a picture with a real President anyway.

      • Nowhereman

And be sure to flood twitter with photos of him and the teams all smiling and enjoying themselves.

        • Librarykid

          Absolutely!

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

Can you imagine if that somehow happened. His orange face would become so red it might actually explode…I mean literally blow up (veins bursting, eyes bleeding)…sigh…is it so wrong that I think “what a nice thought.”

    • Reality.Bites

That would be shockingly inappropriate and a breach of protocol. He is no longer the legal President of the United States.

      Hillary Clinton should do it.

      • OdieDenCO

        Party at Hil’s and Bill’s

      • Nowhereman

I really don’t think that in the age of Trump we need to worry about protocol.

      • bambinoitaliano

Silicon Valley libertarianism drives me nuts. They have the right to become billionaires by any means necessary, but apparently get off scot-free from accepting any responsibility for damages done by their products.

Nope, sorry, that’s not the way it works.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

I remember a libertarian actually argued that if someone wants to be eaten, it should be OK for someone to kill and eat him because the agreement to be killed and eaten was consensual.

Yet, they greedily take of the common goods (freeways, electrical infrastructure, etc.) and then are astonished when the bill comes and people get pissed that they sold off the country to hostile forces. They think freedom is unlimited thievery w/o responsibility.

        • Treant

Exactly. And in this case, the bill is coming due. You benefited from Russians advertising and illegally influencing the election? Let me introduce you to something called “treason” and “money laundering” charges.

      • Christopher

“They have the right to become billionaires by any means necessary, but apparently get off scot-free from accepting any responsibility for damages done by their products.”

I’m a proponent of free market capitalism, but I always admit this:

Totally unregulated and uncontrolled capitalism can be a big big evil in the world.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

Socialism, even communism, has it’s merits along with capitalism. The problem is the fact that every ideology inevitably becomes unbridled…that’s when it becomes something far more sinister.

      • UrsusArctos

Adam Smith’s “invisible hand” is a YUGE cherrypicked mis-quotation The larger context that quote is puled from is that even with capitalists operating in their own interest, that interest can involve less productive investment if it may lead to a larger good/gain. Funny how that has been sidelined. It’s also about encouraging “home investment” vs investing abroad.

        • another_steve

I’m Philosophically Daoist in outlook and my understanding (not necessarily THE established Daoist outlook, but mine) is that American capitalism is the most perfect economic system in the world because it most perfectly mirrors human nature. Human nature in both its infinite glory and infinite horror.

Too complicated to delve deeper into here – and besides, I’m drunk.

      • RoFaWh

Capitalism works very well, extremely well in fact, at organizing the really important aspects of life, like the manufacture and distribution of toilet paper.

I dated one fellow who was five foot two. While a bit smaller than my normal preference, that didn’t bother me a bit. (and yes, he was…bigger where it counts…than the six footer, by quite a bit).

My husband is five foot eight as well. I like that.

Nope, the whole shape of the face is different. And he has his father’s ears, he just hides them better.

The eyes and the lips are very much Charles.

          • Ross

            These images are deplorable.

They SHOULD compare Harry to Diana’s side of the family, not to Charles. Harry looks like Diana’s brother and Spencer cousins.

My sister inherited the genes of our father. My younger brother looks like our mother’s brother.

I look like both sides of the family.

          • Reality.Bites

Aside from colouring, in this one I notice similarities in ear shape/pattern and eye size more between Harry and Charles than Harry and James.

          • Treant

Ditto. Plus his aunt’s chin. As I noted below, he faintly resembles George VI, and even his grandmother when young.

He has those close-set Saxe-Coburg-Gotha eyes.

          • OldGuy

He looks much more like his Spencer uncle and cousins. At Williams’s wedding one of the Spencer cousins looked almost like his twin. Remember folks, his mother was a Spencer, and that side’s genes count as well!

    • Helen Damnation™

In the meantime, thousands of Americans are without shelter and medications, starving and drowning in Puerto Rico. This is Trump’s Katrina.

      • UrsusArctos

Nope. Puerto Ricans may be citizens, but they’re brown for the most part.

        • Helen Damnation™

          huh?

          • UrsusArctos

Katrina hurt W because it visibly hurt a lot of white people, NOLA aside. Puerto Rico fails that bar for the deplorables, so it won’t ding 45*. I lived Katrina along the Gulf Coast. Even here there were assholes that had the “I need help, those brown people are moochers”. Yep, disgusting.

          • SoCalGal20

Ok, being somebody watching the horror of Katrina unfolding from the outside, my impression was that Bush got shellacked for that because CNN was down there 24/7 showing all those people in Superdome, people dying and dead, and so forth. Not simply that they were black or white. People were rightfully angry about what happened in New Orleans. I think part of the problem with PR in addition to brown people OMG! is that it’s not on the mainland and there’s so much other shit distracting people right now.

          • UrsusArctos

Your outsider view is probably more accurate on this than my insider view.
At the time, there were people THRILLED that W flew in/out repeatedly and completely dissociated the FEMA and other agency failings from the cause of them. Both here and in NOLA there was a fair amount of racial division. Here it was resentment that people in NOLA got the attention and help, which was TOTALLY untrue.
Katrina amplified race and class issues that bubble beneath the surface in most cities. Older, poorer, black people were dispersed from NOLA and some communities still haven’t recovered. One of the mayoral candidates over there is building on the fact that fought to keep the footprint of neighborhoods the same vs shrinking the city to a manageable size as part of recovery. That plan basically erased black neighborhoods, as they had historically been on some of the lower ground.
O/T I was lucky enough to be near the airport twice as he landed, so I could stand in a parking lot and give him the one fingered salute.

Fuck off with your ‘whitesplainin’ bullshit. Everyone has a perspective, and a right to express it. You can’t silence white people from voicing their opinion anymore than Trump can.

The kneeling does not seem like an effective way to protest. It’s ambiguous at best, and seems to send a message of submission and weakness, where a message of defiance would be more powerful. I personally would leave the field prior to the song being played.

Sorry to see Kaepernick paying a heavy cost for exercising his right to free expression. At least he is willing to put his money where his mouth is. Wish it could have been done to more meaningful effect.

That was something I was going to suggest, that while kneeling (which is not disrespectful but, on the contrary, reverential), they ALSO place their hands over their hearts!

I’m not very clever about these things–I couldn’t believe that if this occurred to ME, it wouldn’t occur to others!

(The only other thing that occurred to me was having protesters drape themselves in flags, one worn over their shoulders, at the same time they’re kneeling. But that’s over-the-top, and presents logistics problems!)

      • greenmanTN

To me what they are doing strikes a perfect balance between protest and respect. Still there, still listening, but refusing to fully stand for a nation that is so grossly abusing segments of the citizenry.

Wine, sangria, toffee tarts, pizza, making paper flowers for the alter and taking some for self care during my internship for the week. Just wrapped up from 4 to 7 at the home of british Texas A&M professors, them and their ginger children.

      • Isn’t it wonderful how Sir Hubert Parry got the “vivats!” in this — the cheers, which by right, the students at the Westminster school attached to the Abbey get to yell out at the coronation — since medieval times– as part of the score? Vivat, Vivat Regina Eliabetha (Long live Elizabeth the Queen in Latin), and if a King Vivat, Vivat Rex (last time was Georgianus for her father – and supposedly Carolinus for Charles). Interestingly, Charles suggested that William and Kate play this for their wedding which they did — without the Vivats of course. This is not the version from the actual coronation, the whisply voices of the young students can be heard on the actual recording from the 53 coronation on You Tube. A very regal work.

I’m not a cognac or brandy drinker though I know someone is bound to enjoy the rest of the bottle.

    • Talisman

      What is your go-to recipe?

Mine is an easy way to cook chicken breasts….

      Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Heat an over-safe pan over medium-high heat on the stove top
Add a tablespoon of oil (I usually use olive oil).
      Add the chicken.
      Wait 2 minutes.
      Turn.
      Add whatever seasoning you want.
      Wait another 2 minutes.
      Put in oven.
      Bake for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and let sit for 5 min.

I use this method for all kinds of meat…decreasing times for thinner cuts or increasing for thicker cuts.

      • greenmanTN

Spanish Rice & Chicken- this is actually a recipe from my mother’s older cousin, who learned it in a class during WWII on eating well under rationing. Originally it did not include chicken, that was a later addition.

Cook 2 cups of dried rice, so you end up with 4 cups of cooked rice.
Immediately after the rice is done and still hot, add 1-2 cups of grated cheddar and stir, so it melts
        Add 1 med chopped onion
Add 1 chopped lg green pepper
1 short can of tomato sauce
Hot sauce or minced chipotle if you wish
Thin slices of chicken breast or tenderloins, stirred in

Put mixture in a 9×13 baking dish and smooth it down, sprinkle with paprika if you want, then bake in a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

For steaks, I usually just use salt, pepper and garlic powder to pan fry and then depend on texture to figure out if it’s cooked enough. If it’s squishy, it’s still raw. I prefer flat irons and rib eyes. Grass fed beef fries up faster than regular beef. I usually cook steak w/o a sauce.

One recipe I like to do but don’t do a lot because it’s very bad for you is breaded pork cutlet. I take pork tenderloin (you could probably find cheaper cuts that’ll do just fine), strip off fat strips and any thing I don’t like, cut fairly thick slices against the grain, press down (i don’t pound it because it’s tender as it is) and flour the pieces, put them in egg wash (both yolk & white beaten vigorously) and then put it in panko (which is like super dry bread crumbs). I deep fry them in hot oil (I usually use canola or vegetable oil as I am looking for oil that is neutral in taste) until they’re golden brown. I then drain it using a metal strainer for quite a while then put it in a pre-heated oven at 250 to keep warm while the other cutlets are being fried. I use brown paper like the inside of a grocery store bag to drain it because I once heard that drying them on top of paper towels make it soggy. Keep the cutlets apart from each other so they don’t make each other soggy. Then cut into slices and eat a lot of salad or other greenery for balance. I leave it to you what sauce you would like with it.

I also did a variation once where I used milk instead of egg which changes the texture of the breading a bit but it still worked.

I often do stuff without measurements. I’ve cooked skirt steak with a mixture of paprika, chili powder, garlic, sliced onion, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, white wine, sugar and lime juice. If I don’t have lime or lemons, I can and have used white vinegar.

    • Lazycrockett

      That’s a lot of salt.

OT: Soap gremlins. My lard is getting a little old (it’s fine, just approaching its best-by date), so I made Dragon’s Blood soap and Pumpkin Spice. Both accelerated (set really fast), the Pumpkin Spice seized up (set so fast it went solid in seconds) on me and I had to pound it into the forms, then it started to boil itself while I was packing it in. That made getting it into the form easier, but wasn’t exactly fun to handle.

The Dragon’s Blood turned black, as expected, so I reserved some and made a deep red layer and dropped intrusion into the soap to get the concept of fire and blood in there on top of the natural smoke color of the other soap.

Still, that took an hour and a half and should have taken 30 minutes, tops…to make 30 bars of soap.

Increasingly difficult to feel sorry for a country that will not stand up to this demented THUG and drive him from office with massive and relentless protests.

This is apparently the innaugural color of the year for Behr. It reminds me of Grey Gardens.

OT: This is not my night. I went down to clean up, and put my scale and lye water container away in the garage. I hear a lot of scrabbling noises that I shouldn’t be hearing, but the mouse traps I keep out there in September are set and baited.

I have a folded set of plastic deer fence in the corner. And I note that it’s not folded any longer, it’s a mess. Grab a flashlight, and there’s a huge field mouse tangled up in the stuff. I don’t have good enough gloves to handle them…

So I took the fence outside, and cut as close to the mouse as I could. He’s still tangled, but only by a little, and hopefully he can chew it off himself.

    • billbear1961

      How very frustrating!

      🙁

      • Treant

The mouse wasn’t all that happy about it, either.

        • billbear1961

          No, I shouldn’t think so!

          🙁

        • Frommer_Gast

So how did it end? Did the mouse finally make it?

          • Treant

It seems so. The last I knew, he ran under the rhododendron, still with bits of fence wrapped around him.

I think he can free himself. But I couldn’t cut any closer to him without risking my hand.

DOTUS (Dotard of the United States) shows totally disrespect for the country every day he remains in office.

Brilliant! I like you very much BikerBecca.

I ask that yah pray naw……pray for precision, and keep mah katana-pimp hand strong oh lahhhd….such that I might go over there and slap a Drumphf. It’s like a regular pimp slap, but with a katana blade, it’s all very complex and painful. The annoint…annoibladening is actually a really lovely ceremony when they graft the metal to flesh.

OT: So I went to a gossip site while trying to cheer up from news stories like this, and just read a facebook post by a woman commenting on a story about possible marriage between Prince Harry and Megan Markle. The woman said that it will “never happen” because the Royal family is required to be racially pure….

One of Ms. Markle’s great-great-great-grandparents was black….This idiot obviously never read about Queen Charlotte.

I’ve been asking myself if white people actually think like this when they get vocal about the USA being taken over by “mud people”. How pure are you supposed to be? We are all descended from Africans. I think this kind of racial paranoia is a big reason why Trump has a huge alt-right following in America.

    • Bj Lincoln

WOW! Thank you for posting this. Figures this bit of history was buried and hopefully
lost by discriminating Americans. This is exactly why I call myself an American mutt. I don’t have a clue what I am other than an American and would put that FIRST if I knew.

    • Karl Dubhe

      “Racially pure”? Good god, no.

The only thing that’s required is that they not be Catholic.

Damn. Doesn’t anyone learn about history anymore?

    • Karl Dubhe

Erm, there’s a small problem with that video. It claims that the union of Britain and Scotland happened in 1801, it actually happened in 1707.

      • Câl

Union of Britain and Ireland was formalised in 1801, not that with Scotland, the video was right in saying that.

      • BeaverTales

Which act of Parliament are you referring to? From the Brittanica website, I saw this:

        https://www.britannica.com/event/Act-of-Union-United-Kingdom-1801
Act of Union, (Jan. 1, 1801), legislative agreement uniting Great Britain (England and Scotland) and Ireland under the name of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. … The Act of Union received the royal assent on Aug. 1, 1800, and it came into effect on Jan. 1, 1801.

        • Karl Dubhe

I was thinking about Scotland. Completely forgot about that other union.

What an Ignorant ass! I just tweeted him that. I can’t believe I just tweeted the POTUS and called him an ass 3 times. The level of disrespect I feel for him is so bad I am ashamed.

    • Karl Dubhe

They should ‘fix’ his diet. I am certain that what he eats is causing him great suffering each morning. He needs more fiber, natural foods, not processed ones.

      Then again…

      • Bj Lincoln

I’m surprised his diet hasn’t killed him already.

        • Karl Dubhe

That’s a strange way to spell disappointed; “surprised”. 🙂

      • Bj Lincoln

Many don’t go to the games because the price for a ticket is too much. We get a better view and instant replays on TV anyway.

Just tweeted back, “Attendance and ratings are just fine. 2/3 of Americans do love this country. Maybe you should too ass.”

    • Bryan

I’ll stand when they make the american football out of your bigly hands, that sentient thing living on your head and bits and pieces of your face.

Also, these games haven’t become ritualized enough.DONALD TRUMP. You are hereby ordered to sacrifice your vocal chords upon the altar to appease the great one, Ennephelle, be it forever praised…and you forever silenced.

    • Um. Is he really doing this? I ask in a disbelief sort of seriousness. It’s more like, fuck…do I really have to ask?
And does he not realize how many football fans there are? And would this really be a tipping point? Over football?
      Because, cool.

Trump is making football great again

  • Bryan

Okay, since we’re talking Golden State and Sun here on behalf of California, I am so tired of winning, we’ve won so very much and I’m so tired. Trump, you win, you are the greatest president ever. You’re SO great in fact, that I hereby nominate you to be President of the Sun. This requires you take up residence at the Sun White House, a special Sun Force One rocket on a one-way trip and live there forever. Congratulations, this is a tremendous honor sir. Please, enjoy the trip, maybe raise the solar shielding a little and work on your tan on the way there ya’know tiger? Really impress the Sun ladies.

Edit: And if you act now for separate shipping and handling (included in the package at no extra fee to you) we’ll also transport your entire cabinet with you. But they’re losers so they all have to fly in the Solar Force Coach, cos’ not winning.

As I’ve stated elsewhere, what REALLY irks me about this whole anthem-kneeling mess is that the flag-worshippers who are criticizing the kneelers really don’t care about the kneelers’ issues or concerns. They just want the kneelers to go through the ritual… stand and stare, with hand on heart… even if the kneelers are doing so under duress while rolling their eyes and cursing under their breath.

It’s all superficial, fascistic BS. They don’t care what these Americans think or what concerns they have… just go through the motions. That’s all we want here in The Land Of The Free™.

I read today that because the Warriors don’t want to see Lord Dampnuts, he’s inviting the Russian Championship Basketball team. SMH … he certainly gets his fee-fees hurt easily. I have to admit, that he’s finally learned to throw tantrums as well as a 2 year old … Sadly, these tantrums could get us all killed. I hope that in 2018 folks remember how complicit the Republicans were in all of this …
