Breitbart Furious After CNN Recalls When Roy Moore’s Christian Hate Group Called Obama A Secret Muslim

CNN reports:

Alabama US senate candidate Roy Moore’s foundation shared a video on its Facebook page in 2015 that uses out-of-context video clips of then-President Barack Obama to promote the conspiracy theory that Obama is a Muslim.

The Foundation for Moral Law, the non-profit Christian legal organization that Moore founded in the early 2000s, shared the video titled “OBAMA THE MUSLIM, HIS OWN WORDS” on November 18, 2015. Moore currently holds the title of president emeritus at the foundation.

It was originally posted by the group Britain First, a far-right British nationalist organization that describes its goals as to “restore Christianity as the bedrock and foundation of our national life,” citing “the rapid growth of militant Islam.”

Reached by phone, Moore told CNN’s KFile that he had not worked at the Foundation for years, but said that the video did not reflect his personal views. Asked if it reflected his wife’s views, he said, “Sir, I can’t speak for other people. My campaign has nothing to do with Obama. He’s not President. This is kind of ridiculous.” Asked if his wife wanted to comment directly, he said that she was not with him at the moment and directed the reporter to contact his campaign chairman.

Breitbart is furious:

Outside of the fact that political spouses have always been off-limits, and above and beyond CNN鈥檚 glaring hypocrisy and leftwing bias, this is par for the course for CNN, especially CNN鈥檚 Andrew Kaczysnki, who shares the story鈥檚 byline with Chris Massie.

Just like the loyalty tests of old, unless you believe what the media demands you believe, the corporate power of a CNN will be mustered as a means to personally destroy you and your political career. In other words, unless you convince the media you truly believe that Obama is a good Christian and American, you cannot serve in public life.

Remember all those times Breitbart didn’t attack Hillary Clinton’s “always off-limits” spouse?

  • Treant

Sux 2B Moore. Except that in Alabama, that probably plays to his advantage. The place is, let’s face it, kind of a hole.

    • hoover2001

I have no doubt Moore will be next senator from Alabama.

      • Tomcat

He does seem properly evil enough for the job.

    • kaydenpat

      Preach it!! Hypocrisy is real.

    • Bob Conti

Well not only that but the woman’s President of the “Foundation,” so no, she’s really NOT off limits. And as other people have noted, Hilary and Michelle sure had a lot of… mud… slung at them when their husbands were in office. As did Eleanor.

  • AtticusP

    Q. What’s the difference between Breitbart and a big, steaming pile of horse shit?

    A. <> <>

    • Treant

A big, steaming pile of horse shit can be composted and turned into herbivore manure compost, which is absolutely amazing stuff for your gardens.

      • Karl Dubhe

‘specially if you also raise chickens. But you’ve got to let the chicken shit ‘mature’ properly, it doesn’t have the same composting time. IIRC 馃檪

        • Treant

Yep, chicken crap is way hotter in terms of nitrogen content, and will burn if not composted hot and for a pretty long time, then aged.

Technically, you can scoop horse manure still steaming off the streets and use it, if the plant is very sturdy.

          • i quit with the shit a long time ago and haven’t looked back. i don’t like the idea of eating otherwise totally clean and organic materials that i have to spend a lot of time cleaning before eating. sure, it’s not pesticides or other poisons, but compose made from manure is still not something i want in my salad. i found a perfectly acceptable alternative in a liquid form made from natural stuff that has been rendered (downward arrow) in to the ground fast. no splashback in heavy rains. the roots suck it up, my veggies taste good, and i can pick something and eat it without having to rig up the salad spinner, right there. also, better smelling garden beds.

      • AtticusP

Don’t dismiss the possibilities of Breitbart in that role.

Or, if not, there’s always Soylent Green.

        • Treant

Do you honestly want to be able to say that you ate a Breitbarter? I mean, if you are what you eat, to any extent whatsoever…

Plus, we don’t know what they’re carrying in terms of diseases that might survive the Soylenting process.

    • the right is both stupid and hypocritical. many times, top designers gift expensive clothing to women who will be on any ‘world stage’ for more than a minute, free of charge. i don’t know the laws relating to the FLOTUS wardrobe, but i’m sure she had something all worked out about it, bc if she hadn’t the right would’ve been all over her BEN-GAZI! style in a heartbeat.

famous women everywhere, all over the world have designers chasing them and making deals to get them to wear their clothes. Melanoma not only has bad taste comared to MO, she’s also still a little price tag Ho. that’s sad, knowing how good a FLOTUS can look in rented, free, or donated/fundraising for charity clothes and at those prices.

      • popebuck1

She paid for her wardrobe with her own money. She and Barack both earned (and still earn) income off the books they wrote. She showed the receipts and everything, to prove no taxpayer money was involved.

  • Cuberly

OT: If you can stomach it, “Sassy” has been really active on twitter. He claims he had to delete his FB accounts due to death threats made against his family. (cough)….then he goes on rant after rant regurgitating every RWNJ talking-point imaginable.

Then he posts a hysterical rant video taken in a car, and uh, he sure seems to be moving around all nice and easy. I think my skepticism alarm bells were warranted. He’s obviously riding the attention whoring train and milking it for all it’s worth.

    • Halou

Since when is it “hate” to call out a lying hypocrite?

      • Cuberly

Yeah I’m thinking some serious lying is going on.

He claims his insurance is “refusing” to pay collision. Um….and he doesn’t say why.

        • Treant

He probably saw a way to save $20 per month and didn’t take collision coverage.

It’s an option in PA and at least some other states, and makes sense on a very old car. It’s just not going to be worth enough to bother, after the deductible.

          • Halou

He either has a bare bones insurance policy or there is something he’s not saying. But hey, if the president can take other peoples’ money under false pretenses why can’t an ordinary citizen?

          • Treant

True, he might have rear-ended a cop at a relative velocity of 30 MPH. That’ll get you in trouble fast.

But it’s conflated with his “medical” issues…?

          • Cuberly

For him to deliver pizzas he has to have proof of adequate insurance.

            He’s being evasive….

          • Cuberly

Even that doesn’t sound right. Usually the company will ask you for a monthly/yearly mileage estimate. or if you drive to work. I never recall seeing a commercial designation before.

In the above vid he sure gets hysterical, not crying, just loud and combative. He did something, not sure what it is but his act is so not believable.

No doubt his family helped him along with that.
The sooner he realizes they’ll never love him and thus he shouldn’t be an asshole to try and please them, the better off he’ll be.

          • Cuberly

He sure enjoys his self loathing gay bashing doesn’t he?

His twitter feed is quite literally, hysterically full of self-loathing and bashing “liberals”. None of it experience based, just talking-points regurgitation.

Someone talk me off the ledge already.

    • Natty Enquirer

It’s a survey. It has political import, but no legally binding effect.

      • William

        Just like the Brexit vote.

    • Treant

I wish I could, but when the No side can lie as much as they want with no consequences, it doesn’t seem likely that the truth will prevail.

On the up side, Yes or No, their Parliament has no intention of getting off their butts and making marriage equality the law of the land. A No means the same as a Yes, except that they can use a No as an excuse whereas they’re going to have to dance a little to avoid taking action with a Yes.

      • Reality.Bites

That would be true, if the campaign were the only source of information voters have ever had about LGBT people and relationships.

        But it’s not, is it?

Are Australians both more stupid and less-informed about the world than the Irish, people in Maine, Minnesota, Maryland and Washington?

The last time the other side won one of these things was 2008. And they haven’t come up with a new idea since.

We came up with Glee. And Modern Family. And Neil Patrick Harris. And Mathew Mitchum. And Josh Thomas.

They resurrected Margaret Court’s desiccated corpse.

The only issue is whether or not Australians get off their asses and vote. The no campaign is irrelevant. The only effect it can have is energizing our side.

    • fuzzybits

Just like here in 2004,it pisses me off people are voting on this.

      • Ninja0980

Especially when it’s non binding and several of the bigots have made it clear they’ll be no votes no matter what.

        • Tor

          So what’s the point?

          • Ninja0980

Turnball is a coward who doesn’t have the guts to let a floor vote happen, because he’ll lose his position as PM if a vote happens and it’s yes.

          • RoFaWh

The point is that proportional representation in a parliament leads to small parties having undue influence.

    • Treant

On second thought, there’s much you can do.

Protest a No vote. Have gay sex with an Aussie.

With the difference that I might actually listen to Camille Cosby, who I’m quite certain was not an active player in any of Bill’s antics. She may have “known-not known” in the way people sometimes do, but she was not an active participant nor involved in covering anything up.

Melanoma said nasty shit during the campaign. She doesn’t say anything now and we know she hears what’s coming out of his mouth when the idiot is standing next to her. She will not do anything in the future.

      Like Ivanka, she’s….Complicit.

      • Tor

Your phone probably has more computing power than the world did at the time. I remember how proud I was of my first Dell in 1992 +/-, which had 100 MB memory.

O/T, but Rachel just ran down the entire timeline, starting at the Rethug convention back in July of 2016 (when the Dump campaign, which never gave much of a shit about the party platform EXCEPT for one certain anti-Ukraine plank) to today’s revelations about Monofart. In a nutshell, dude is SOOOO fucked…

    • ByronK

Is that possible? I’m just near the end of the audio book of Franken’s Giant of the Senate. I always prefer to listen to him read his books. Fascinating covering from his early comedy years and SNL right up to Trump’s election. Some great laughs but also some very honest reflections and insights. Highly recommend it if you haven’t read/heard it. And oh ya, there’s an entire chapter devoted to Ted Cruz. He really is a repulsive piece of crap.

Remember all those times Breitbart (or Republicans in general) didn鈥檛 attack Barack Obama’s 鈥渁lways off-limits鈥 spouse?

    • ByronK

You mean mooshell the trannie gorrilla? The attacks on her from the right have been some of the meanest, most evil, scummiest things I’ve read in my life but hell, for a lot of Republicans, she’s the trifecta when it comes to a target for their hate. She’s a woman, she’s black, and she’s more intelligent and accomplished than the vast, vast majority of them. It really shows them for the kind of people they really are.

      • ByronK

Every time I read that shit, I want to go all billbear on their asses. And no, not that way. 馃槈 The angry way.

Also, I doubt his friends are that shocked considering people like him usually spout crazy batshit before killing people. They just don’t want to admit they shrugged at it before.

So Charles Murray, Bannon, and now the ex-google misogynist have been taken off guard by their supposed inclusion in the Milo led UC Berkeley “Free Speech Day”.

I think what we’re seeing here is a desperate reach for relevancy while exploiting a venue for it’s rest assured left-fringe element that delivers the images the garbage of the right needs to make bank.

Exactly. In fact there were quite a few legal based articles outlining the fact that he was exposing Google to a crap load of law suits if they kept him on.

Not just discrimination lawsuits but the fact that he was spreading information counter to the job agreement he signed onto. If Google let that all slide they’d be f’d. Other employees signed those agreements as well. Why do they have to comply yet Damore doesn’t.

    • The Mercers and other American oligarch wingnuts are deliberately trying to stir up trouble, to prompt a crackdown and eventual imposition of martial law.

      • Cuberly

To be honest I don’t think they’re that cunning.

I think they throw money rather scattershot on a whim. Yeah it’s mean’t to sow discord but it’s so uncoordinated and pathetic in the grand scheme of things.

I mean, look at the poll numbers. That’s hardly a groundwork for martial law. The Mercers are like most demonstrably evil billionaires that dabble in social engineering. It’s just more noise. They’re obsessed with the notion that they’re spreading the popular opinion and yet, nope. Not the case.

I’ve been saying it for months. The open ended nature of short sighted algorithm designers had no concept how they’d be exploited. There’s the overwhelming notion that the open-net shouldn’t bear responsibility within the silly valley bubble of libertarian entitlement. But that it SHOULD entitle them to incalculable riches.

These assholes are enamored of their genius. And they can’t seem to grasp the gravity of their lackadaisical mediocrity when it comes to long term exploitation outside of their control.

When we talk social justice it needs to take on a totally new paradigm when it comes to for profit publicly traded social media companies.

Joe constantly refers to this christian hate group and that christian hate group, oblivious to the difference between liberal christians and fundamentalists.
It’s also a tad hypocritical, given the venomous hatred for ‘white christians’ that regularly appears in this blog.

    • Treant

Fundamentalist: People who try to “convert” me with threats and/or violence, attempt to legislate me out of existence, or simply cut out the middle man and use violence.

Liberal Christian: People who occasionally faintly say “Maybe you shouldn’t do that,” but can’t be arsed to get up and do anything about it. Mostly because they simply don’t care.

And trust me, if you’re a “christian” (let’s face it, most of you are Paulites at best), I don’t care what hue your skin is. I have enough vitriol to go around.

      • RJ Bone

Then there’s the whole “we don’t like to call anyone out because we should all be forgiving of one another” thing until we make enough noise to spur conscience…

        • Treant

Yeah, that shit. They should be very, very grateful that an afterlife does not exist. Because they would not be going where they think they are.

My response is always, “Fuck forgiveness until they stop doing what they’re doing…and apologize.” My religion* does not require that I forgive you.

          * Agnostic, but I take alternate Thursdays to be an animist.

          • RJ Bone

Atheist here, but that’s mostly for easy identification.

I love to ask them to define “repentance” and then show me instances of their brethren demonstrating repentance for their sins against their fellow man.

That is when you determine how flexible they can be – without the fun parts, that is.

        • Lazycrockett

    • billbear1961

      Where are these “liberal” Christians?

      Why are they so SILENT??

Venomous hatred? If a group relentlessly demonized you with hateful lie after hateful lie and never tired of attempting to strip you of your civil rights, your reaction MIGHT, over time, become less than TEMPERATE!!

    • Max_1

      Wrong on so many levels…
… Joe never berates the good Christians for doing Christ’s work.

Is this because you identify with this hate group Joe highlights?

Can you link to one story where Joe berates good Christians?

      … JUST ONE STORY???

    • Max_1
    • Skeptical_Inquirer

You can’t dismiss the fundajelical vein of Christianity as being very fringe and very tiny in influence & size when their numbers include dozens of Congressmen, SCOTUS judges, a VP and a President who panders to them.

And sorry but I do think a lot of white Christian evangelicals (who number in the millions and 80% voted for Dump) have to look at their choices when they voted for Trump especially the ones who went on and on and on about how Bill Clinton was Satan for having a blowjob in the White House for years then turned like a top to eagerly vote for a man who boasted about grabbing women’s crotches, is on his 3rd wife and is very likely banging his future 4th wife, and is notorious for having cheated on his first wife with his second and flubbing quoting the Bible. That’s not even mentioning what Trump said about Mexicans and Muslims, pandering to Nazis, and his continual harping on the Chinese will be sure to create ire against Asian Americans.

I don’t see why you would defend people who gave him the nuclear codes.

    • greenmanTN

Here’s a wee suggestion. If you aren’t like those people who you feel have besmirched you, how about you step the fuck up and say so publicly, call them out, instead of coming to a gay blog to whine about how you’re so misunderstood?

There are tons of Christians who say “We’re not all like that,” yet when it’s time for you to step up all we hear is… *crickets*

If you aren’t one of the bad ones then step up and PROVE it, don’t expect people who have been abused by religion for millennia to cut you some slack when you’ve done nothing to deserve it.

      • Reality.Bites

    • zhera

But they ARE christian hate groups. That’s not Joe’s fault.

If your reaction is because you don’t like the word ‘christian’ associated with these hate groups, then there’s a good cause for you to fight for. But don’t blame the messenger! Are you complaining to Moore, Perkins, Fischer, etc. about how they are representing ‘christian values’? Or are you perhaps fine with what they do, as long as they’re not doing it to YOU?

It is the systematic failure of your institutions, for at least the past quarter century, to stand up to propagandists–to baldfaced liars–that HAS, more than any other single cause, doomed your democracy. Over the past three decades, I have marvelled–in wonder and DISGUST–at Americans’ failure to hold liars and extremists accountable, at the failure of the press to do their JOB, preferring, instead, to foster a profitable media CIRCUS.

You can still turn things around with massive and relentless protests, but I don’t think you will. You have little support in the corporate media–which will side with the ever-more-corrupt Establishment, which has decided that only fascism can save capitalism, which is degenerating into corporate gangsterism, worldwide. The Democratic party offers little but token opposition and no REAL leadership. They react, lamely, to events, never taking the initiative. Where ARE they MOST of the time? Where is their DAILY strong and loud defense of the Republic?? WHERE IS IT?!

Once the U.S. has become a de facto banana republic–lip service will continue to utterly two-faced “forms,” a pantomime democracy as phony and empty and bitterly meaningless as Pravda’s pro-communist propaganda in the final decades of the Soviet Union, as empty as Trump’s praise of the Constitution, a document which means whatever HE wants it to, and NOTHING ELSE to him and his followers–American and Russian gangster oligarchs–and their confederates around the globe–will concentrate on destroying the remaining democracies around the world.

Crises caused by climate change, religious conflicts, and economic/financial instability will make their task that much easier.

We are morally obliged to TRY to stop them, but EVERYTHING is against us. We have only one another, virtually no one and nothing powerful to help organize us for the fight.

          And that’s why–barring miracles, which I don’t believe in–I think it’s over.

What’s left of the world 20 to 30 years from now will be a corporate-fascist prison, run by the oligarchs’ lackeys, backed up by right-wing religious fanatics around the world. Technology will be used against us, and their servants will be rewarded for keeping us under control. The reward for the deplorables will be a few crumbs and, to make them feel powerful, the right to abuse minorities and women as they see fit.

Most people will give in, some out of apathy, many more out of fear and despair and helplessness (after a time, it will become impossible to organize against them, even at the grassroots). In the short term, the gangster oligarchs will spread and encourage chaos so that their fascist servants can offer the promise of security, security without hope, the security of the PRISON.

    • Cuberly

Is it Trump or Cambridge Analytica?

Call me paranoid, but, ever since Bannon left there’s been this huge push via social media on many fronts. Hell, check out the comment accounts on breitbart and it’s always the same pattern for almost every account. The total comments is in the mid thousands if that high, the account history has long long spaces when it’s not being used. Or, the opposite, the account has a low total comment in the hundreds and relatively new.

I’ve yet been able to grasp the disparity within Breitbart comment accounts. It really sticks out compared to almost any other site that uses disqus.

      Constitutional amendment:

      1) Federal government sets minimum standards for electronic voting machines across all states. I would also advocate minimum standards for federal elections when it comes to early and absentee voting.

      2) All machines are required to produce a receipt. All states are required to have procedures so that voters can dispute the receipt, with procedures for voiding the previous vote and casting a new ballot and obtaining a new receipt.

      3) The receipt must be read into a second terminal, for cross-footing with the regular voting the machines.

      4) The receipt must be deposited into a locked ballot box, for final verification. All states must have procedures for hand-counting the receipts and the circumstances in which the hand-count is required.

Completely off topic but a good news story some of you may not have read.

A primary school in Australia decided to raise money to pay for the education of girls in developing countries. The boys were going to wear a dress for the day (if they wanted to do it, there was no coercion) and their plan was to raise nine hundred dollars. Anti-marriage equality RWNJ politician Cory Bernardi attacked them for “gender morphing”. Even after having the nasty insanity of attacking kids for raising money pointed out to him, Bernardi doubled down on his attack.

Anyway the kids have raised their nine hundred dollars. When I last checked their “Do It In A Dress” campaign stood at over sixty six thousand dollars. That pays for the education of over 220 girls and Bernardi gets schooled in the Streisand effect for free.

    The campaign:https://www.doitinadress.com/craigburn-primary-school

    The story: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/sep/21/cory-bernardis-attack-on-school-fundraiser-as-gender-morphing-pushes-up-donations

    • Reality.Bites

Can you imagine OMM’s reaction to “Do it in a dress” if it was a TV ad?

Even if it was a fashion ad aimed at adult women. Just for saying “do it” or as they’d say it, “Do i- in a Dr–s”

One Million Moms do it through a hole in the sheet clutching a bible in each hand with Max von Sydow sprinkling holy water over them.

The fund now stands at over a hundred thousand paying for the education of 340 girls. Bernardi is blaming “the militant rainbow brigade” for getting behind it. Yep, he still thinks his is the moral position.

Across Barcelona (and indeed the world) this morning there are thousands of blokes wearing dresses. Muslims, if they are wearing call them thawbs, Catholics call them cassocks and those of us of no religious denomination call them an ivory slub silk shift that goes great with the remnants of my tan and is just right for a late summer brunch. Curtain twitching moralists are exhausting.

The only reason anyone will raise an eyebrow at the farmer’s market is if you don’t accessorise right.

Being a collapsed catlick, I’ll go with the cassock. Can use the inside pockets for shopping bags.

I’ve had far too much week this week. Just took a Doxepin with a red wine chaser. See ya all in a couple of days. I should be completely unconscious inside of a 1/2 hour.

Someone wake me when Trump is in prison.

    From Morning Media today.

    Should be good:

PREET BHARARA’S BUDDING MEDIA CAREER has accelerated as the former U.S. attorney joins CNN as Senior Legal Analyst, per Michael Calderone. The cable news gig follows Bharara amassing a huge Twitter following since being fired by President Trump in March, along with a podcast that launches this week.

-Just hours before landing the CNN role, Bharara generated headlines with the new podcast. He described feeling uneasy as Trump kept calling him and feared the president would’ve asked him to do “something inappropriate” while still U.S. attorney.

-Former government ethics chief Walter Shaub has also signed on as a CNN contributor, signaling the network wants to beef up its analysis of government investigations and ethical concerns.

-According to Brian Stelter, Bharara will make his debut as a CNN analyst on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday. One wonders when Bharara will make his first appearance on “New Day,” co-hosted by Chris Cuomo, brother of New York governor and Bharara target Andrew Cuomo.
