Breitbart: Trump Vindicated On His Wiretapping Claim

Late yesterday CNN reported that former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort was wiretapped by the feds starting in 2014 over his murky financial dealings with Ukraine.

And even though that started long before anybody dreamed that Trump would run for president, today Breitbart claims this vindicates his claim of being wiretapped himself.

They write:

President Trump had tweeted on March 4: “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my “wires tapped” in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!”

Breitbart News editor Joel Pollak had reported the day before Trump’s tweet that the Obama administration “sought, and eventually obtained, authorization to eavesdrop on the Trump campaign: continued monitoring the Trump team even when no evidence of wrongdoing was found.”

Trump’s claim, and Breitbart News’s report, were mocked as a conspiracy theory, and other news outlets reported that there was no basis to the claims. CNN itself at the time called the idea that Trump was wiretapped “incendiary.”

I’ve quoted Shelley Capito (aka Dennis Leary in drag) back to her, “I didn’t come to Washington to hurt people.” The last vote, McConnell and/or Trump got to her and she voted for it. This bill is much worse than anything they’ve previously proposed.

Ohio has only one Senator in Washington. The one you are referring to must be the one bought by the Koch brothers in the last election for $16,000,000.00. He is Republican Rob Portman. Our other Senator, Democrat Sherrod Brown is up for re-election in 2018. The Koch’s are already trying to buy a replacement of the Republican variety for him.

I’m a Washington D.C. statistic geek: The 52 Republican Senators currently in the U.S. Senate actually represent only 44% of the American population. The representation in the U.S. House is much worse due to Gerrymandering.

Joe.My.God likes to write about the nutty lady who runs for mayor in Toledo every 4 years. Only 10% of all registered voters bothered to vote in the last election. And I bet I could walk in any gay bar in the U.S. and if they told the truth, over ONE-HALF of the patrons “were too busy” to vote last November 8th.

Dirty old man underwear is not the same as wiretapping.

    • Reality.Bites

Would that be underwear belonging to an old man that happens to be dirty, or clean underwear of the sort worn by dirty old men?

And if the latter, what sort of underwear do dirty old men wear?

      (Asking for a friend)

  • crewman

Remember when Trump claimed the intelligence community had discovered that multiple people in the Trump campaign had committed treason and were directly coordinating with America’s biggest enemy to subvert our Democracy and to destabilize our country, and so the intelligence agents were wiretapping one of those people?

    • FancyThat

Trump’s strategy of taking each side of every issue on a rotating daily basis assures him that regardless of the outcome of any issue, he was right. If you put a chip down on every bet on the roulette wheel, you’re going to be a winner every single spin! Trump spins, Trump wins.

  • Rex

So, does Breitbart like Trump today, or what?

    • Tawreos

No, they just found some bullshit they can twist until it can be made into a headline that will generate a lot of clicks.

    • Reality.Bites

They like Trump but hate the people around him.

      • Todd20036

They like Trump until he’s unsuccessful at rolling back medical insurance and building the Mexican wall.

They knew he was a criminal long before the election and the time he became involved in it.

  • Gustav2

Manafort (and Flynn) were wiretapped for possible criminal activity, not the campaign. Just because these two were working for Trump the investigations by law enforcement should stop?

    Talk about Whitie Privilege.

    • Andymac3

White Supremacist Privilege, like they have had for the last few centuries.

  • Ninja0980

They are aware these folks were being tracked long before they ever worked for Trump, right?

    • Tawreos

Never let facts get in the way of your click-bait

    • DesertSun59

Nope. They haven’t a clue. That headline is, of course, further proof that B’bart isn’t an actual news site but rather a propaganda website.

    • canoebum

Trump tweeted that Obama has him wiretapped. Nothing in this revelation indicates that Mr. Obama had anything to do with it. It was between the FBI and the FISA court, so…no.

      • lymis

        And they didn’t tap Trump.

        • John30013

And it wasn’t in Trump Tower.

          So… facts.

    • Daveed_WOW

No. They have a filter that removes all blame except that which falls on the Clintons, the Obamas or George Soros. No Republicans are ever held accountable for anything.

  • DesertSun59

Precisely as predicted by reporters on legitimate websites. It’s just that the B’bart headline is completely false.

  • Rebecca Gardner

No, Trump is in no way shape or form vindicated by this. Facts, something that is frowned upon these days. Fuck these treason supporting assholes.

  • Friday

Some people just find this thing called ‘the order of events’ too complicated. 🙂

  • olandp

Not only McCarthyism, it is also Nixonian. In other words, Republican. Projection.

  • Gustav2

    OT a bit:

Republican governors get into the ‘news’ business

“The Republican Governors Association has quietly launched an online publication that looks like a media outlet and is branded as such on social media. The Free Telegraph blares headlines about the virtues of GOP governors, while framing Democrats negatively. It asks readers to sign up for breaking news alerts. It launched in the summer bearing no acknowledgement that it was a product of an official party committee whose sole purpose is to get more Republicans elected.”

“Only after the Associated Press inquired about the site last week was a disclosure added to The Free Telegraph’s pages identifying the publication’s partisan source.”

    https://apnews.com/f97fbf53c0c84468ae046f861ecf3b64

Watch for this to be used by trolls.

    • joe ho

Republicans are so much better at politics than Democrats are. There is nothing on the left approaching the size and power of the right-wing media apparatus that spreads propaganda and demonizes Democrats 24/7. And it works.

      • Gustav2

        Yeah, this is pretty lame.

        https://shareblue.com/

        • darren lyle

Shareblue is a media company set up by journalists. The Free Telegraph is set up surreptitiously by a group of politicians.

      • Ninja0980

We don’t have as many $$$$ backers as Republicans do, simple as that.

    • Jay Silversmith

Hopefully, it will be used solely by hackers.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

LOL, yeah go ahead and think this is in anyway good news for you idiotic goons.

  • Natty Enquirer

If Manafort was operating out of Trump Tower and the Feds were listening in, then yes, the wires belong to Trump and they were tapped. But enough of this posturing. The real problem is a president who makes rash public accusations without providing evidence and then scurries off to the next trolling opportunity.

    • Daveed_WOW

His followers LOVE him for “saying it like it is” which is kind of like lying, which they support. Bad People. Sad.

    • GayOldLady

The wires belong to Manafort, because it was his cell phone that was under surveillance.

      • Tulle Christensen

Cell phone? Well then since there were no wires there could be no wire tapping!!!! /s

        • GayOldLady

According to what I read they were listening to Manafort via his cell. Technically no wires, although I’m sure there are “wires” somewhere in the transmission process, there was no “wire tapp” in Trump Tower.

  • GayOldLady

Who didn’t know NotToBreitbart was going to use the electronic surveillance of Manafort to attempt to shove the notion that Trump’s claim that he “was wire tapp” was accurate? If Trump’s had conversations with Manafort that were untoward then he incriminated himself. No one made him hire Manafort, no one forced him to consort with people like Manafort, Flynn, Stone etc. When this is over we’re going to find out that Trump was in the middle of the collusion with Russia from the beginning and that Manafort was there to facilitate the collusion because he’s an agent of Russia.

  • Jay Silversmith

If anybody had bothered vetting any of don the con’s mob and russian buddies, maybe they would have known that every one of his picks were involved bigly.

  • Exatron

“Implicated,” Breitbart, the word you’re looking for is “implicated.”

  • HZ81

I don’t think the mouth-breathers at Breitbart know what “vindication” means.

  • Gene Perry

OK, everybody calm down. It’s only Breitbart.

  • Mike in Texas

Silly me … I never knew that Paul Manafort is the name of Trump’s wires in Trump Tower.

  • Lindoro Almaviva

what took them this long to come up with this bullshit?

    • Furface

An unscheduled bout of sanity and sobriety; but then the meds metabolized and the liquor store reopened.

  • bambinoitaliano

I thought the Breitbart is at war with the shit gibbon? Can’t even pretend to hate him for even the shortest amount of time can they?

  • BartmanLA

Are you surprised that they are jumping on this in this way? Of course they’re going to try to creatively connect Trump being wiretapped by Obama! It’s ALWAYS Obama, they can still gripe about Trump but if there’s any way they can blame Obama for anything they will.

  • Thorn Spike

More fake news from the fact-free zone.

  • lymis

No, Nimrod. You said that they bugged Trump Tower. They didn’t.

The fact that you may have been picked up having conversations with someone who was under federal surveillance is an entirely different matter. And of course, not one that would be of the least bit of concern if you hadn’t discussed anything shady.

  • lymis

Seriously Donald. We’ve all seen you.

    NOBODY wants to tap that.

  • Beagle

Because “Dump was in regular contact with someone under criminal investigation serious enough to warrant a wiretap” completely vindicates Dump. That’s the ticket!
(/s, just in case it’s necessary)

  • j.martindale

The FBI is an agency independent of the political administration, and was led at the time by a Republican. Wrongdoing by Manafort, acting in collusion with foreign agents, led to a FISA investigation, and was NOT instigated by the Obama administration.

  • Snarky

I love that Breitbart, which routinely disparages CNN and other legit news organizations, is taking a CNN story as vindication.

  • JWC

Hey Donny how long are you going to flaut this untruth. longer than the birther theory

  • Nowhereman

    Yeah–never mind the facts…

  • Alexander Stallwitz

I have the misfortune of being related to Trump supporters. I know they are going to bring out this talking point as proof trumpy is right. Any suggestions on how to counter.

    • Reality.Bites

He’s a Nazi. If they concede that, nothing else matters. And if they don’t concede that, nothing else matters.

  • teeveedub

Ho-hum. More fact-free “reporting” from Breitbart. It must be a day that ends in a “Y.”

  • Fake news!
