Dem House Candidate Mikie Sherrill Rips Trump In New 2018 Ad: The Nazis Were In The Wrong, Period [VIDEO]

The Hill reports:

A Democratic candidate for a New Jersey congressional seat is firing back at President Trump’s comments that “both sides” were to blame for the violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va.

Mikie Sherrill, a retired U.S. Navy helicopter pilot and former federal prosecutor, is running in the Democratic primary to unseat Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-N.J.). In a new campaign ad, she cites her grandfather’s experience fighting Nazis during World War II to push back against Trump’s controversial response.

Sherrill describes in the ad how her grandfather was shot down over France and rescued by French resistance forces, who hid him from the Nazis. “For my grandpa there was never blame on both sides,” Sherrill said. “The Nazis were in the wrong, period.”

Straight talking, experienced – go get ’em Mikie!

    • Christopher

The Rubes, uh I mean Trump supporters, should love her for that. Right?

  • greenmanTN

How insane is it that someone even needs to say that?

    • Todd20036

Yeah. 2017, and we still have to protest this shit.

    • bambinoitaliano

We have regress to the stage of taking care of infants. Spoon feeding is needed to slowly bring back the insanity. There is no quick fix.

Once you have fought a world war over a subject, it should never been in question again.

  • Bluto

That was well done & civilized. Now I await her rival’s rebuttal demonizing her as a deep state commie globalist whore who tortures puppies, wants to enslave christians, seize guns from hard working patriots, make mesican the official language & force everyone to gay marry.

  • Tatonka

“For my grandpa there was never blame on both sides,” Sherrill said. “The Nazis were in the wrong, period.”

I hate it that we’ve come to this place in history, but I love it that people are fighting back.

  • Ninja0980

And keep in mind the guy she’s running against is supposed to be one of the last “moderates” left.
What does that say about today’s Republican party?

    • Todd20036

Well, McCain was considered a moderate, and he made it ok for idiots to run for the WH. Moreover, he voted to repeal ACA when Obama was President, and he voted for Trump.

The GOP is dead. They’ve gone full on Nazi.

    • BuckyB12

Nope. ALL Republicans own this now – none of that moderate crap.

  • Do Something Nice

Nice ad, but I want to know about her positions on heathcare and LGBT rights.

Democrats are not going to win by ‘not being Trump.’

    • TuuxKabin

      Then follow her campaign.

    • Rebecca Gardner

      That was refreshing!

    • Paula

      Damn! Just, damn!

    • Do Something Nice

And when falling, if he hit is head on the concrete and died from it, whoever hit him would be charged with murder.

      • Harveyrabbit
      • Rebecca Gardner

Maybe if 1930s Germans started punching fucking Nazis millions of lives could have been saved.

You walk around wearing a Nazi armband. You harass the public on a bus while wearing said armband. You should automatically expect to get punched.

        • Karl Dubhe

They did get punched, they rioted, they caused a hell of a fuss.

          That didn’t work out.

The Nazis did start the fight, then they claimed they could put an end to the fighting. Then things got very much worse.

    • BJORN RAGNVALDR

Bet he did nazi that coming…

She’d have my vote if I lived in that district…

    • TuuxKabin

Not in our district but were supporting her.

  • Ninja0980

“It’s a good thing Bernie wants ACA to be repealed and is dividing Democrats.”
Said by Tom Cotton on Meet The Press yesterday.
Thanks for giving the GOP more talking points against the ACA and our party Bernie!

    • Todd20036

This is why I have as little sympathy for the Nazis as I do for any “liberal” who didn’t vote for Clinton in 2016 when it comes to losing health insurance.. They own this too.

  • Todd20036

This. This is what the democrats need to do. No couched language, no nuances.
You either vote for the democrat, or you’re voting for Nazis.
There really is no middle ground anymore.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

BTW, I mentioned we were all Nazi hunting the other day, Shaun finally put a name to this POS:

          • That_Looks_Delicious

He’s got no butt and a little spread at the waist. He would need a tight belt or suspenders with whatever jeans he wore to keep them from falling down.

      • Treant

Somewhere, a few livestock breathed a sigh of relief. They wouldn’t be sexually abused for a while…

The Nazis were in the wrong then and they are in the wrong now. It’s just incredible that this fact has to be driven home after living through it the first time. And it’s even more unbelievable that we have a Nazi in the White House.

What the Dems needs to do is to tap into some 45% of those eligible voters who forsaken their civic duty in the last election. While it’s important to counter the Republicans on every issue, it’s only 25% versus 25% of the country’s voters.

  • BeaverTales

Just to add a bit of my own research to Joe’s byline:

If she wins the district, it will be a historic political shift another 40 years in the making. The area it mostly contains, Morris county, is one of the most ethnically homogeneous (white) areas of the NY metropolitan area, and at one time housed 33 Fortune 500 companies.

The 11th Congressional district was Democratic for 40 years since WW2, when it was centered in Essex county…then gerrymandered by the Republican legislature in the 80’s to include mostly Morris county, one of the wealthiest census areas in the country, and it has been reliably Republican since the Reagan years. It is one of the most heavily taxed areas of the nation as well, and is the place where Chris Christie first launched his political career. Now he is only polling about 30% among his Republican base after several recent scandals.

Whitney Houston lived there for some years before the time of her death, and it is a “statusy” area to own property with excellent schools. The area is becoming younger and more diverse as the Boomer generation retires and the tech generation has more children…Morris county is becoming more Asian American and has always had a heavily Jewish population, with voting trends in presidential elections that are trending more Democratic lately…but only very gradually.

The Nazi meme doesn’t play well there… It could be a major pickup signalling new urban demographic voting trends if Sherrill wins it in 2018….she will have to tack conservative on taxes to close the deal, though.

  • Bj Lincoln

There was an idiot with a rebel flag and a Nazi symbol tattooed on his shaved head who harassed people at a strip mall near my house. We all complained and he was kicked off the property several times before he disappeared. His beaten body was found on the side of a back road in another state about 2 weeks later. It was such a relief to know he was not coming back that folks started standing up to the other nutjobs with the threat of them suffering the same fate. We have not had any issues since.

Wait: she’s retired from the service? And after she left the Navy, she went to law school?

I considered a major accomplishment that I ran two loads of laundry this weekend.

    What am I doing wrong?

    • Ben in Oakland

      Doing laundry, of course.

      • -M-

I am trying to convince myself that just buying new clothes would be cheaper than doing laundry.
