Trump Contradicts Democrats’ Claim Of DACA Deal

NBC News reports:

President Donald Trump insisted Thursday morning that there was “no deal” with Democrats to extend protections for so-called Dreamers, but pleaded with congressional leaders to reach one, and vowed to push ahead with his border wall.

“No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote,” Trump tweeted in a series of posts.

The tweets came just hours after Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, following a dinner meeting with Trump, said they’d reached a deal with the president “to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that’s acceptable to both sides.”

  • Tawreos

I get the feeling he is pissed that someone else made the announcement

    • Todd20036

He’s still pissed that not only did he lose the popular vote, but his numbers are so low that even he cannot pretend that the majority of Americans love him

      • greenmanTN

You know what that means. Pep rally!

        • Oh lard, not more of those! Wouldn’t it be refreshing if he went on a pep rally tour, and the press didn’t cover it? No tv cameras, no newspaper reporters, no internet reporters, nothing nada, zip, zero.

          • charemor

            And no one in attendance.

    • j.martindale

If it doesn’t feed into his fantasy that he is the solution to all problems, it didn’t happen.

    • Gerry Fisher

Yes, clearly. The Dems got too much attention from that announcement. tRump wasn’t front and center and in control enough.

  • BearEyes

looks like he changed the definition of wall in the process.

    • Todd20036

And the definition of “Mexico will pay…”

  • Todd20036

I don’t think anyone knows what the fuck he’s thinking, even if they just met with him.
And frankly, I don’t think even he knows what the fuck he’s thinking, either.

    • crewman

He’s thinking, “What can I say that serves me best in this moment?” Truth doesn’t matter. Just make stuff up. It’s served him well his whole life.

    • This is the man who lied about how many floors the first trump Tower has. Who also said how wealthy he is depends upon his mood. There is no reality for cheetolini, it’s all subject to his whims of mood and anger.

  • TimCA

What a quandary. Which version of events to believe? Pelosi and Schumer or the mendacious sociopath?

  • Mark McGovern

He’s like one of those cats that can be purring in your lap, and then suddenly sink their teeth into your hand, their claws into your knees, push their ass into your face, and off to the next sucker.

  • Tatonka

The fact that Chuck and Nancy think they can cut a deal with him shows they’re almost as deluded as Donny.

    • Karl Dubhe

That or they’re trying to play him like a hooked fish.

If trump’s desperate for a deal; making one that his base will hate is an awesome way to troll them.

      • Tatonka

I’d love to believe that. I used to think that I was a fairly politically astute guy, but two years of making consistently wrong predictions on every conceivable subject have made me pretty humble.

        • Karl Dubhe

So would I. I’m sorry, I should have mentioned that any such hopeful thoughts are based entirely on my wishful thinking. 🙂

Maybe I should put that in that profile part of the disqus account…

    • CanuckDon

You never know. A wise strategy for the Dems would be to praise and woo the vulnerable Trump to steer him in their direction infuriating his base and ultimately GOP leaders.

      • Rambie

        That could backfire.

        • CanuckDon

Possibly but the tables have turned quite a bit. Trump’s base is becoming increasingly impatient. Bannon is sitting pretty as a major White House critic now and stoking anti-establishment fires. And as one other commenter noted, Schumer as a New Yorker is likely more appealing and refreshing for Trump to deal with right now than the lame McConnell.

          • Todd20036

Even Coulter is against him now.

        • Gerry Fisher

Just don’t count on it being a consistent strategy (because he’s wildly inconsistent and driven to moods dictated by narcissism). Instead, use it as a way for the Dems periodically to sew some of their own chaos and dissension among the Rep ranks.

          • CanuckDon

To his base, Trump colluding with the lib-ruls is much much worse than him colluding with the Russians.

      • Adam Schmidt

Donald is a big follower of the “team of rivals” school of thought. To him, it makes sense to make a deal or two with the Democrats to “put the Republicans in Congress in their place”, basically pointing out to them that from his perspective, they need him more than he needs them and thus they should be courting him (and kowtowing to him).

Remember, everything he does is about him and how it gets people to look at and talk about him.

      • JCF

As long as Dems STAY MOTIVATED in 2018 (and then 2010!), to turn out and VOTE THE THUG BASTARDS OUT!

    • Treant

They’re simply dangling a nice worm in front of him, and Donnie will never see the hook.

    • ian

Agreed. As soon as Chuck and Nancy announced a deal it was only a matter of hours before trump contradicted them. Like that wasn’t visible from space. If they couldn’t see that coming then they’re idiots.

  • canoebum

The border wall will be built about the same time as Trump Tower Tehran.

  • Rex

    Just remember – Trump’s crazy.

    • Joe in PA

      Nah, just a pivot. /s

      • David Walker

To paraphrase Keith Olbermann, “It’s not a pivot. The man is crazy.”

        • Joe in PA

          🙂

    • DonnaLee

He’s a narcissist, which means he don’t care how much he lies to make himself look good or important or feel better. Because only he matters.

  • Gustav2

Only 12% wants the Dreamers deported, but many will stay home not voting in the next elections. Republicans cannot afford to lose even a few percentage points.

  • Andymac3

Is this when he became Presidential? DId I miss it? I must have dosed off waiting.

    • Rex

I only care when he becomes Ex-President.

    • Rambie

LOL perfect! I’d do the same, except I’d need to buy one of those stupid hats before pissing on it.

      • Gerry Fisher

        It’s an *investment*. /s

        • Rambie

I’d rather burn the money than spend it on one of them hats.

    • Todd20036

Probably needs a NSFW tag, but I always love a good pee video

      • FancyThat

Add the four Russian sex workers and it’ll also need the WHWS tag.

      • JCF

Ew, male fingers are bad enough! ;-p

  • Uncle Mark

How DOES anyone actually make deals with a crook and congenital liar? I guess the only way is if you have a Russian Pee Tape or hold some other incriminating evidence to blackmail him into honoring his word. The day I truly look forward to is when he is brought on trial and before Congress and can’t stop his blatant habitual lying…even under oath.

    • bzrd

brought to trial in New York, found guilty thus no pardons for his cohort

  • Rex

Does anyone want to throw out good, educated, and accomplished young people…?
Yes, your Attorney General, for one.

    • Gerry Fisher

IMO, I don’t think he wrote that. Hope may have written it.

  • safari

He isn’t contradicting what the Chuck and Nancy released last night. Border security (not the wall) packaged with DACA. So far I have seen what looks like protests that no deal was reached, but no contradictions. Even Sarah’s little tweet last night clearly separated the wall from the border security + DACA angle… but it looked like there was a contradiction the way it was written.

  • netxtown

Trump this…and Trump that…who the fuck cares anymore. We know there will be one helluva mess to clean up. The only thing that remains to be seen is how high the pile is.

  • Will Parkinson

I’m so confused. It’s hard to keep track of his lies from one day to the next.

  • Mikey Ruck

Trump’s lawyers learned many years ago to always go in pairs, so what they heard Trump say could be verified. looks like Schumer and Pelosi should have gotten a backup recording, too.

    • EdA

Perhaps they did? And they were certainly quite prompt to announce publicly what they claim was agreed to.

  • Ken M

He didn’t write those tweets. Wording, spelling, all to good for the F*ing loser.

  • MikeBx2

So Trump is going with the meme that’s been going around saying that he should just tell his stupid supporters that the wall has already been built.

  • tbj5

Yeah, go ahead and lie to yourself that your racebait wall is “already under construction”.

The only thing being constructed is your new prison cell.

    Donald J Trump is stupid

  • coram nobis

Donald has the powers of concentration, and consistency, of a seven-year-old. He may have meant it when he said “okay” to Miss Nancy and Mr. Chuck, but now he’s in a new whimsy. It’s something other world leaders probably already know: you can charm him and get him to go along, but those arrangements have a short half-life. Certainly Vladimir realized it only too late.

  • -M-

Well, at least he’s learned that legislation would require a vote. 😜 Let’s see how long he remembers that.
