Stevie Wonder: Anyone Who Believes There’s No Such Thing As Global Warming Must Be Blind [VIDEO]

“We’ve come together today to love on the people who have been devastated by the hurricanes. When love goes into action, it preferences no color of skin, no ethnicity, no religious beliefs, no sexual preferences, and no political persuasions. It just loves. As we should begin to love and value our planet. And anyone who believes that there’s no such thing as global warming must be blind or unintelligent. Lord, save us all.” – Stevie Wonder, opening his performance at last night’s Hand In Hand telethon.

  • Rex

    Nailed it.

  • bkmn

    Well said sir.

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Or unintelligent, lol yeah there is that too.

  • Tawreos

There should be a third choice besides blind or unintelligent. Willfully ignorant should also be an option and one that covers most of the people that claim climate change doesn’t exist.

    • greenmanTN

It’s all about the lobbyists. Unfortunately Democrats are beholden to them too, though often different ones.

In the area of addiction/alcoholism, that state has long been referred to as ‘denial’. And it’s very difficult to break.

    • Adam Schmidt

There’s one more category… profiting off of climate change. People who are in industries (oil, coal) that will lose money in the event that we as a people move away from fossil fuels. Elected officials that will lose large campaign contributions from those industries if they admit climate change exists and is caused by man. “Scientists” that work for those industries to cloud the issue. Lobbyists who work to convince others that there are two sides to the issue. Sadly, there’s a lot of people who aren’t blind, stupid, or willfully ignorant… they’re just greedy.

  • Todd20036

Which describes the entire GOP and religious freaks.

  • Reality.Bites

Pretty sure a lot of blind people will be offended by that.

  • Rex

Loved seeing Barbra and Cher manning the phones, along with all the other liberal left wing celebrities.

    • greenmanTN

Colbert has been playing it up on his show ever since Harvey, talked about manning the phones. (He’s my secret BF. Don’t tell him!)

    • ChrisInKansas

But none of them had computers or even pencils. They didn’t even try to make it look like they were doing anything.

      • Rex

I believe Cher would respond to your comment : “Then keep your eyes open, bitch.”
And Babs would never risk breaking a nail by picking up a pencil and the phone at the same time.
Seriously, I really couldn’t tell what they were doing, but I suspect they would answer the call, chat, then transfer to someone to take the pledge.

        • Rex

I just checked out a couple of vids from last night and you can see paper and pens on the desks with the celebs answering calls.

  • TJay229

    This is excellent.
I remember when there was a small group of Melanin challenged homo’s here who tried to give “Queen 🐝” the business about ” what she does and doesn’t do..” You know, typical jealous and mad at a highly successful Black business woman and Culture icon for no reason shit.

Well if any of you melanin challenged penis suckered are here, I remember one fat one wearing a cowboy hat (figures) but I’ve blocked you and probably vice versa.. Here is what The Queen 🐝 has to say and has
    done. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_59b89e4be4b086432b027341?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009

    FLAWLESS!

    • barrixines

I really like your posts normally but this one is a bit sad.

      • TJay229

        I mean…. O… Kay?!?!? 🤷‍♂️

        • Silver Badger

Hate is hate. Whether you’re a white person hating on blacks or a black person hating on whites, it’s still hate.

        • barrixines

My disagreement has never been about race – I agree with you we all need a stick shoved up our arses on the topic at times. But the Beyonce stuff – it’s like being lectured by a I-Dimensioner on the godlike genius of Harry Styles. Speaking as a bloke with a record collection going back to the early seventies that is probably about eighty percent African-American women performers she leaves me totally cold. It’s just a difference of taste that’s all -I’ve tried but I just don’t get it with her.

          • TJay229

            Ok.
            A) I don’t think we’ve EVAH messaged each other.

            B) Therefore my comments were not directed TOWARDS YOU.

Those Penis suckers know who they are. And if you missed the conversation, THEY were giving her shit for what she hasn’t done for the “community”, Cause in their eyes (remember it’s only right if it’s approved by White Gays) her going to NC was a slap in our faces.

That was the issue. And I vehemently defended her on. So, yeah.. That’s that.

          • barrixines

We have actually but it’s no big deal if you haven’t remembered – it’s just a message board where we up throw up our own nonsense. But as it is a message board, anyone is free to answer you with their own thoughts on the matter. For what it’s worth I think “what has she done for the gays” is a nonsense critique. I’m just rolling my eyes at the Queen Bee stuff. A discussion about musical merit. Take it, leave it, move on, whatever.

          • TJay229

            👌👋

      • The_Wretched

I think this “TJ229” is the same individual who is “Ross”. This troll is taking names from actual commentors to protect itself and sew division.

        • barrixines

My sincere feeling is that Ross doesn’t have the mental/emotional wherewithal to be able to do that.

          • Ross

My sincere feeling is that you’re an enormous asshole. Let’s google some of the political scandals in Australia since you seem to hold them up as some sort of bastion of liberal freedom. Right off the bat, I see senators who are citizens of other countries getting the boot left and right. Sounds above reproach. Can I be a senator in Australia now? It appears to be lawless there, like Thunderdome.

          • barrixines

            Mentalist.

          • Ross

Stop shit talking me. If you can’t best me in debate on your own merits, cram it.

          • barrixines

I was defending you but you’re too fucking loopy to be able to see it.

          • Ross

No you aren’t. You’re making insinuations that there is something mentally wrong with me.

          • barrixines

There’s no moral judgement on that though- If you were coughing I would think you might have a cold- The way you act out on here suggests some unwellness. I didn’t think you were pretending to be another poster and defended you about that. Do try to stop with the name calling you aren’t a very civil person and they way you talk puts people’s backs up.

          • Ross

I will, but everytime I refresh the page, you’re talking shit again. It’s madness. Do you even see what’s going on? I made one comment and people are jumping all over me. I didn’t even deny climate change, all
I said was that I don’t know enough to make an informed decision. And either does Stevie. Lock Stevie and Beyoncé in a room and tell them to come up with a solution to climate change? The world will hold its collective breath.

    • ccc

I agree with Beyonce’s comments 100% and her comments along with Stevie Wonder’s help me today because I was getting cynical. Neverthess, as another fellow black gay man, I do not get the bitter edge that you constantly tinge with your posts. I am pissed after the election just like a lot of “melanin challenged” people, especially the ones on JMG.

      • TJay229

        “I’m awfully bitter these days
Cause my great great great grandparents were slaves
        What do they call me…

        My name IS PEACHES.”

        (Modified a bit, but yeah)

        • Silver Badger

Your bitterness gets in the way of your message and gives the racists a win.

          • Reality.Bites

It’s entirely possible that TJay229 is neither African-American, nor gay.

It’s easy to claim to be whatever you want online, and TJ’s goal appears to be to foment racism among white LGBTs.

Time to stop (IMO) assuming good intentions on the part of those who post. If someone posts like an asshole, they probably are an asshole, not an ally to be persuaded.

          • ccc

Great point. I am a real African-American gay man. No “fake news” here. LOL!

        • ccc

Have you noticed that a lot of “melanin challenged” supported events such as the removal of Confederate and white supremacist symbols, names, statues, etc.?

          • TJay229

And what…I seriously mean AND WHAT?

  • S1AMER

Unfortunately, it’s neither blindness or untelligence that leads Republican politicians from seeing climate change. It’s dependence upon huge campaign contributions from petrochemical, mineral-extraction, and power-generation corporations.

    • bambinoitaliano

      Greed.

  • *george bush waves hello*

  • Yesterday I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and someone I don’t know had posted a comment on the wall of someone I do know about a recent musical now on tour: “Too much talk about global warming. #hoax” *sigh*

  • Duh-David

Feeling really old; although I recognized nearly everyone manning the phone banks. I only knew about 20% of the performers.

  • another_steve

Very nice – and very important, coming from a cultural icon.

(One small thing, Stevie, re words: “Sexual preference” is to LGBT people today like “negro” is to black people.)

  • Ross

When can we expect to see Stevie’s massive donation to combat this terrible epidemic? People like Stevie love to put their hands in everyone else’s pocket and tell them how to behave.

      • Ross

Where’s the climate change charity? And how much did he donate? It must be record breaking for him to feel he could go on tv and lecture everyone.

        • marachne

You sure are putting a lot of hate into assumptions and arrogance. Why should you dictate how he distributes his largess? What about the fact that his performance generates contributions? What do you know regarding other contributions he may have made as part of this effort? Do you really think he is “lecturing?” Do you really think excoriating an ally, when there are so many who want us dead is productive or helpful? Why the fuck are you hating on someone trying to do good work? smdh

          • Ross

I enjoy Stevie’s music quite a bit. Just because a man can carry a tune doesn’t make him a scientific authority. I’m simply pointing out the hypocrisy of a man going on tv to espouse a viewpoint that he couldn’t begin to understand. I feel sorry for him. He’s like a hand puppet that someone is working behind the scenes. And most of those charities you listed are nothing more than vanity projects for some do nothing celebrity. Show me where he donated more than $100 to any of them.

          • barrixines

Ooh you’re having a lucid moment. It’s a shitty moment but it’s lucid.

          • Ross

            Can you keep it civil?

          • barrixines

I refer you to you original remark to me. You lost any right to expect civility from me by being bad mannered in the first few words you directed at me.

          • Ross

Alright. We moved beyond that. I’ve accepted your apology and all is right in the world. If you would like to discuss the issue, let’s do so. Otherwise, please refrain from slandering me.

          • canoebum

Apparently, he understands it better than you do. Denier troll, go away, or show us how much you’ve contributed to fighting climate change.

          • Ross

You’ve totally missed my point. I have no idea if climate change is real or not. Logically it would seem unrealistic that all the pollution and whatnot doesn’t affect the atmosphere, but I’m not a scientist. My comment was directed more at the hypocrisy of people like Stevie and Beyoncé.

          • canoebum

Well, you’re an idiot. Either that, or just a straight up racist.

          • Ross

What do you base that on?

          • canoebum

            Your words.

          • Ross

Ok. Well, based on your words, you’re an anti-semite.

          • The_Wretched

And that’s out of the blue. Your troll facade is falling apart.

          • barrixines

To be honest she’s in a secure ward somewhere and as a reward for not biting the guards in nearly a week she was given a free hour in the recreation lounge. It was either commenting on JMG or doing that thing she does with the dolls’ eyes on Chatroulette again. i say we keep her.

          • Ross

Just stop already, asshole. I asked you nicely. What is your problem?

          • barrixines

Today lady you have made yourself my problem from the moment you called me a fairy. Stop insulting strangers on the internet and set yourself the goal of living well.

          • Ross

Christ almighty. I told you I was just kidding. It’s so innocuous. You’re the loon who started in with all of the insults.

          • barrixines

As I said – aim for something good for you. This isn’t great here is it – you sound unhappy/unwell. And I meant what I said – you have a way with words that could be very appealing. Learn to harness that for something positive. All the best.

          • The_Wretched

“I have no idea if climate change is real or not.”

I see. you’re a shill for the oil industry. Tell me again about the Heartland Institute and how it’s internal emails showed that the Koch Bros and that non-profit know global warming is real and how they worked to undermine that fact.

          • Ross

Of course you left out the rest of my comment. I have no idea what you’re talking about. And I would wager that 90% of the people here don’t either.

          • Annerdr

So if you don’t understand it, why do you disagree with 99% of climate scientists?

          • Ross

I would dispute that percentage that you cited. Motivations may vary. As I stated, I don’t deny it. I just don’t understand enough to make an informed decision. If 99% of scientists came out with a report saying homosexuality is a choice, would you accept that wholeheartedly?

          • The_Wretched

“If 99% of scientists came out”

lol @ your bs speculation and anti-science attack.

          • Ann Kah

Ask us when that report comes out.

          • Ross

It just came out a few minutes ago. Maybe it hasn’t filtered down to you yet. What do you think about it though? You just agree with homosexuality being a choice since 99% of scientists have stated it.

          • Annerdr

Yes, if they were biologists and medical professionals and psychologists – that is, scientists who would specialize in that area. I’d have to have some pretty strong proof they were wrong to disagree with that sort of consensus. And you? What do you base your disagreement of something you admittedly do not understand on?

          • Ross

I base it on the fact that weather fluctuates all the time. Millions of years before I was here and millions of years after I’m gone. If anyone asked Stevie a follow up question regarding some of the number cited in these reports, do you seriously think he could offer an intelligent response?

          • Annerdr

We aren’t talking weather. We are talking climate. If you can’t bother to learn the basic vocabulary, it’s hard to learn anything else. Climate changes over millions of years. Weather changes day to day.

          • Ross

            Ok. Well you’ve convinced me.

          • Annerdr

It’s not like you cared to learn anything anyway. No one can convince the closed mind.

          • Ross

“Teaching” me about semantics because I dared to use the word, “weather”, is hardly going to change anyone’s mind.

          • Annerdr

It’s basic vocabulary on the subject. That you don’t know that shows you have never bothered to learn anything about what many people consider the most important subject of our times. No one can force you learn anything and you are uninterested in learning anything, possibly out of fear of having to wrestle with preconceived notions. You do you, Ross, but don’t expect a pat on the back for it.

          • Ross

            Lol. I’ll do that.

          • Ross

If you bothered to read my whole comment, you would have seen that I assume man having some impact on the environment is inevitable. How much of an impact is up for endless debate. Quite honestly, you don’t know anymore than I do. Yet you think nothing of disparaging my opinion.

          • Annerdr

Yes. I disparage the opinion of someone who says things like:

            – I have no idea if climate change is real or not.

            – I base it on the fact that weather fluctuates all the time.

These two statements show an amazing lack of information about an important situation facing us today. You have a strongly held opinion that everyone else is wrong but have done literally no investigation into what scientists say about this and what they base their opinions on. Until you care to pick up a book and spend some time informing yourself, your opinion means literally nothing, and is easily disparaged.

          • Ross

I don’t know how to explain it to you any clearer. I didn’t say anyone is wrong. Stevie may be spot on for all I know. You’re choosing to ignore my actual comments and project your interpretation of them. I have no idea if climate change is real or not, and neither do you. I said the word weather instead of climate, that hardly seems like enough of a point for you to declare victory.

          • Annerdr

No, I know climate change is real. I have no idea how you do not know this.

          • Ross

I know Santa Claus is real because I say he is. Do you see how silly that sounds?

          • Annerdr

Ross, a vast, vast majority of climate scientists say climate change is real and a threat to our species. You say it is not and deride those who believe it exists. You also clearly no nothing about climate science. Why do you have a strongly held contrarian opinion about a subject you refuse to study?

          • Ross

The problem is, you’re either not understanding what I wrote or purposefully ignoring it. How is it any different than someone preaching about Jesus? You’ve never done any research personally, you are just believing what everyone else is telling you. I’m not even attacking the idea of climate change, I’m pointing out how absurd it is for a man like Stevie Wonder to start preaching to the unwashed masses on a topic that he knows nothing about. Where has he been for the last 20 years? How come this is all a huge issue now? Give it a little time, there will be a new cause for everyone to jump on the bandwagon. Stevie is no different.

          • Annerdr

The difference is a vast majority of scientists believe climate change is real. A tiny minority of scientists believe Jesus is real and they don’t have any evidence. I believe what a consensus of specialists say about their specialty based on the evidence they have reviewed. If you cannot see the difference between that and Santa/Jesus, then you need to start with what is evidence and how science works.

          • Ross

Do you think any of those esteemed scientists or there employers have ulterior motives with respect to the conclusions they find? We all know the end result will be yet another tax that will do very little to improve the impact we have on our environment. Instead the tax will buy another fancy suit or a nice new car for whichever elected official plays the game.

          • Annerdr

Oh, sure, because climate science is where the big money is! Ross, you are twisting facts and making up things so you don’t have to think about climate change.

          • Ross

How am I doing any of that. I think more than likely it is real. To what degree, nobody can give a definitive answer. All I really want to know is, how much more I’ll have to pay.

          • Annerdr

You may have to pay with your life. Certainly with your quality of life. Ignoring it only makes it worse since there are things we can do now to slow down the process. People in Houston and FL just paid with their lives, their homes, their jobs, their health. People in other states are also paying as forest fires burn. People in other countries pay even more and the poorer countries will unfortunately pay more than anyone.

          • Ross

First, you can’t get blood from a stone. Poorer countries won’t pay anything and they’ll continue to flout any regulations just as china will do. Guess who that leaves behind to pay the bill? There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the recent storms have anything to do with climate change. If we adhere every ridiculous idea about curbing climate change, is that a guarantee that we’ll never have another big storm?

          • Annerdr

The storms’ size and strength are exactly as predicted by climate scientists, but again, you do you. Ignore all the evidence you want.

          • TJay229

You question the donations that “people like Stevie or Beyonce” I guess by all accounts that some famous people like doing things “behind the scenes” and now I see why, Cause it’s nobody’s like you that will always say what they could, can or haven’t done with THEIR money. What business of it is it yours?

If Stevie (Or Beyonce) talent is singing, playing a instrument… And they “donate” their time to appear and do that, That’s the donation. Here’s a old video of Stevie giving $100k to a charity… http://m.tmz.com/#!article/2012/12/18/stevie-wonder-charlie-sheen-cancer-donation-100000-jasmine-faulk/ Make a video of YOU matching it, no since you critique, you double it. Till then, shut up.

          • Ross

Are you going to be ok? You sound really worked up. What an adult chooses to do with their money is entirely up to them. That being said, a dummy like you can’t see more than 2 feet in front of their face. I’m sure you’ll be first in line to pay the inevitable tax that gets levied on everyone’s carbon footprint.

          • TJay229

Just as I thought… You can’t match either of their donations of money, talent or worthy time. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

          • Ross

If I could, can I go on tv and make up fairy tales that I have no first hand knowledge about? I have to write some crappy songs before I can have an opinion? How odd.

          • TJay229

Well, since you want to compete in his arena, you win more than 29 Grammy’s and get more than 20 #1 hits for Your crappy work. Stevie has already done that. You have to achieve Better than his crappy accomplishments, if you can. Idiot! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

          • Ross

I fail to see the correlation between a Grammy win and having a learned, informed decision on something as massive as climate change. Sounds like you just have a hard on for Stevie and you’re catching feelings.

          • TJay229

            Since you’re daft.

A Grammy = The highest award for musicians

So if you’re a musician that’s what you aspire for. Not that you have any talent we’d care to pay for but that’s besides the point. Point is, He’s far better at all he’s chosen to do with his talents than you ever can be. I see how you have yet posted a pic or video of you donating 6 figures to any charity. What’s the problem, you can’t… 😂🤣😂🤣 so you begrudge him for doing so. Your not worth my time… Your blocked.

          • Ross

Translation – you’re embarrassed that I shone a light on your idiocy.

          • Ann Kah

I notice you attacking the speaker but not providing evidence that he is incorrect. Deny, disparage, disclaim, divert, dupe …

          • Ross

Don’t you understand? I don’t know if he’s correct or not. Nobody does. I’m not questioning the truth of his statement, I’m pointing out how hypocritical it is.

          • jmax

“Ross” is not an ally, it’s a troll and best ignored. I’ve already blocked it.

          • marachne

Thanks for the heads up. I dip in and out of comments when I have the time (the luxury of being home sick) so can be caught unaware.

          • Ross

I don’t know what that asshole is talking about. Read my comment and decide for yourself.

          • marachne

            Trust me I have.

          • Ross

And I made a factual error? Or you just disageee with my viewpoint and feel the need to disparage me?

          • The_Wretched

            Fake tears impress noone.

          • The_Wretched

I did. You’re a troll. More than likely an industry shill too.

          • barrixines

I don’t think she’s a shill. The woman is sitting there typing with her bra put on over her blouse.

          • Ross

I’m just going to block that annoying asshole because they say nothing of substance.

          • BJORN RAGNVALDR

            Done!

          • stevenj

            “clown buffoon delusional unapologetic criminal”

            Excellent description of trump.

          • Reality.Bites

“Ross” is a deeply homophobic Trumpist troll. Not in any way an ally

          • Ross

You’re a clown. I have no problem with gay people whatsoever. I voted for Trump because the choice was between a buffoon or a delusional, unapologetic, criminal.

        • BJORN RAGNVALDR
          • Ross

sorry, you make a good point. I rescind my previous post and wholeheartedly agree with everything you say and believe.

    • The_Wretched

See my other comment. If you’re sincere, you’d post differently and not have a brand new acct. Worse, the original Ross who is a long time commenter had the name first.

      • Ross

If I was sincere, I would post differently? What does that mean? My last name is Ross. I’m pretty sure nobody is going to confuse me with that old man, nor have I represented myself as such. Get a grip.

        • The_Wretched

Don’t you have a butchershop / pay day lender job?

  • Blake Jordan

Where do the 1% expect their grandchildren and beyond to live, when their greed is destroying the only inhabitable place accessible?

  • Gene Perry

Watched Fox & Friends this morning … they called Wonder’s remarks “politicing” the event and an “attack on the President”

    • Natty Enquirer

Give them fame and fortune and they get all uppity. /s

    • -M-

Well if they and the thieving idiot scum in the White House hadn’t politicized facts and reasoning nor attacked the country and it’s people it wouldn’t have been necessary for Stevie to say this.

  • Pip

More of that liberal elitist bullshit celebs keep trying to force on society. Why can’t they just shut up and perform for us??? Why do they have to be so political??? Don’t they know celebs aren’t allowed to have opinions or feelings that oppose those of The Great Hair Furor???

Watch out Stevie, you’re about to get told off as soon as he can get his tiny sausage fingers on his phone and logged in to Twitter.

  • That_Looks_Delicious

Looking at Stevie’s photo, I just had the realization that he & Roy Orbison & Ray Charles used to be the only people who wore dark sunglasses indoors, and nowadays he just looks like everybody else.

First record I ever bought. Saved the money to buy it from a shared paper route my brother and I held. My father was beside himself. There must have been a mistake… so he attempted to convince me that I really didn’t like ” N***er ” music.
Yeah, growing up in the south in the ’60’s was a blast. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/cadc5285fb306678375056f9a78218be3c17db3d8a4c4464ac78f4b2d339e265.jpg
