US Senate Frontrunner Roy Moore: What Is DACA?

The Hill reports:

The frontrunner in Alabama’s Republican Senate primary Roy Moore said he did not know what the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is, during a radio interview.

Moore was asked by host Dale Jackson on WVNN about President Trump potentially ending the Obama-era program, in which nearly 800,000 people brought to the U.S. illegally as children have received work permits and deferral from deportation.

“Would you support an end to the Dreamer program that President Trump has still continued to push?” Jackson asked.

“Pardon? The Dreamer program?” Moore asked, sounding puzzled. “Yes, sir. The DACA. You’re not aware of what Dreamers are?” Jackson responded. “No.” Moore replied.

  • Tawreos

It is too bad that ignorance won’t hurt his chances of running in Alabama, Hell it will probably enhance them.

    • David Walker

“Dreamahs? DACA? Ah don’t know nuthin’ ’bout no dreamahs or dacas, but if Obammer was for it, Ah’m aggin’ it. Aggin’, that is.”

      • JCF

Damn, your “Bama” is better than my “Bama”.

        • David Walker

Not really. Just a mix of Foghorn Leghorn and bad TV imitations of southern drawalalalalals and too much self-importance.

    • Nowhereman

His first act in congress would be to write a bill forcing all federal buildings to display the 10 commandments and to remove the bill of rights.

  • johncAtl

How would he know? DACA is not in the Bible.

    • Gustav2

Or his Pocket Constitution that ends with the 10th Amendment.

    • bambinoitaliano

He can barely keep track of his drug addict son.

  • JWC

Lets just leave it at “Moore is not aware”

  • melllt

News flash. Water is wet. Republicans are stupid and uniformed and proud of it.

  • danolgb

Daca is right next to Aleppo.

    • FAEN

      HA!

  • Gustav2

You know, that thing with the Messican rapists, murderers and thieves’ children born here…

Thank God I live in Massachusetts because our flag represents our inclusiveness.

        • John Ruff

Really? You’re that sure of your state’s inclusiveness. Maybe the policies are inclusive, but that doesn’t mean it’s population is.

          • james1200

You ever been up here? It’s not the Boston of 1970. We are the best you’re gonna do in terms of tolerance and acceptance in this country of ours. I mean, look at our flag above: what other state’s residents will let you tie us up and tread on us? Certainly not Texas!

          • John Ruff

I’m sure it’s improved up there. But, no one can say definitively that the Northeast is the role model when it comes to racial equality and social justice. Yes, I’ve been to MA many times. I certainly can’t say my home’s current city (DC) is a perfect example of racial equality and social justice. It’s not.

  • AtticusP

Is there anyone in Alabama with an actual brain who could run for the Senate seat in 2018?

    • MBear

      No

  • Stubenville

It’s a Russian summer cottage. [eyeroll]

    • JCF

Points! [Moore sure AF wouldn’t know that one, either. Though his hero Drumpf might!]

  • bambinoitaliano

Someone ought to tell him where Aleppo is.

    • Stubenville

? Isn’t that a brand of dog food?

      • bambinoitaliano

Kibbles n Bits is all he knows.

    • Treant

      Olive and Laurel soap?

      • bambinoitaliano

        I thought it was Yardley?

        • Treant

90% of Yardley’s line isn’t even soap–they advertise it as a “Bath/Beauty Bar,” which means they cannot legally refer to it as soap.

  • Max_1

    Roy Moore is a Nightmare…

  • Pablo Sánchez

Too bad “awareness” is not required to be a politician.

    • Gustav2

      Especially a Senator or POTUS!

    • JW Swift

      …or empathy.

  • Treant

And he’ll still be elected easily and by a very wide margin in Alabama.

    That should tell you something.

    • RoFaWh

It tells you that Alabama should be federalized, turned into a territory with an appointed governor, have its citizens declared not to be citizens of the US, and its school system upgraded.

      • JCF

Maybe it’s time to bring back the “Heritage, Not Hate!” Alabama tradition of voter tests…

        …as administered by the SPLC.

  • JW Swift

What does he care? It’s about them furreners, not the REAL Americans in Alabama that he’d be gettin’ elected to serve. (/s)

(Waves hand) So gay that, if I were to have sex with a woman, my gay and her anti-gay would cancel explosively and have a Zone of Destruction miles wide.

For that reason, I have always avoided women when even partially undressed.

      • JW Swift

Funny, Mike Pence does the same thing….

      • RoFaWh

        “partially undressed”

        You? Or her?

And what about when “fully undressed”??

        /snark

    • bambinoitaliano

Poor chair got his mouth sit on.

    • FAEN

That dog as mild mannered as he/she is would rip out someone’s throat if they tried to harm that kid.

      I 😍❤️ doggies.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

    I’d ask if Alabaman’s are proud of Moore’s idiocy….but then I remember, they’re Alabamans.

    • MichaelJ

Before making comments like this one, painting entire groups of people with one broad stroke on the basis of where they live, I wish more people on JMG would remember that the South and other “red states” of the US hardly have a monopoly on willful ignorance, and that not all people in these states are proud of the idiocy of their elected officials. My own home state, New York, elected one of the most ignorant Senators, Al D’Amato, for three terms. And my home city, New York, NY, has given us our Idiot-in-Chief, one of the most willfully ignorant, self-serving and mean-spirited persons ever to hold so much power over others.

  • bambinoitaliano

This is the asshole that can’t even keep track of his son 8 arrests.

    • JW Swift

…yet seems to think that it’s perfectly acceptable for him to tell everyone else how to live their lives.

      • bambinoitaliano

It’s difficult enough to live in the shadow of one’s parent. It’s another to live under a self righteous, judgy judge of an asshole father. Would have been easier for junior to go Menendez brothers at the senior. Would save the law enforcement lots of money and time to keep arresting him.

        • jmax

“go Menendez brothers”. Dude, that’s harsh. Hahahaha.

  • Uncle Mark

Of course he knows nothing about it !! It doesn’t involve white, heterosexual Christians

    • Tread

Or gays he can hate on.

  • Tom Ato

His Gary Johnson moment…why do unqualified people keep running for office and why does anyone take them seriously?

    • JW Swift

It’s getting to the point that our representatives are indeed becoming representative of us: after years of systematic dismantling of our public school system, the populace has become stupid and arrogant, and the pool of politicians are reflecting this.

      • RoFaWh

Incidentally, the main reason the right hates education is due to the good organization of teachers’ unions.

  • John Ruff

Of course he has no idea about a program that helps brown people.

  • Cipher

The Alabama voters are going to eat this up. “This man is so anti-Obama he don’t even know what that shit is!”

  • Max_1
    • bambinoitaliano

These kind of letter is going to be more frequent than is needed because the rest of the country has to educate an asshole who knows nothing about the country policies and how they work.

      • -M-

and won’t listen to any of the experts who could explain them or recommend the best options.

    • RoFaWh

But can Trump read a document that long, particularly when not adorned with images of “himself”????

I think not. His reading level is about that needed to read the simpler Dr. Seuss books.

      • jmax

He has to have someone read it, condense it down to 140 characters, then tweet it to him.

        • SFBruce

Many see The Cat in the Hat as a sort of allegory showing the triumph of democracy over dictatorial power. Donnie probably wouldn’t get that, but if someone explained it to him, he’d hate it.

          • Nowhereman

They don’t get irony, satire or sarcasm. Ted Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham into the record to protest the ACA and didn’t realize that the moral of the whole story is “try it, you might like it”.

        • Beagle

“Getting rid of DACA is bad for business. Sad!”
46 characters. Leaving 94 more to insult whomever.

      • iambu

Just have him skip to the part with the money in it.

    • greenmanTN

I applaud the letter but fear Trump is more concerned with feeding new red meat to his deplorable base than he is Justice, reason, or civility.

    • Nowhereman

I’m sure it fell on deaf ears. He got his marching orders from Breitbart.

  • boobert

We had one of the most qualified persons ever to run for president, and we got a numb skull instead. Brains and knowledge have nothing to do with being elected, especially in Alabama.

    • Harveyrabbit

In Alabama brains and knowledge are considered to be a disqualifier for public office.

  • Bluto

315 million or so American citizens & THIS is who we select to govern us. I can’t even.

  • Ken M

Maybe this is one reason why Trump isn’t backing him. Does he know what MAGA stands for? Make Alabama Great Again : )

  • Ninja0980

Stupidity is a requirement to run from Alabama.

    • RoFaWh

He is exhibiting ignorance, not stupidity, though he may very well be as stupid as they come.

      • Johnny Wyeknot

        And he smells like sulphur

  • Johnny Wyeknot

The Senate ain’t what it used to be, but this idiot will become its laughing stock.

  • Waarki
    • Jerry Kott

is that a photo of a winking brown eye?

      • Waarki

“You’re not aware of what Dreamers are?” Jackson responded. “No.” Moore replied.

  • RJ Bone

Why the snotfuck is this hagfish’s cocktease a frontrunner in ANYTHING?!?!?!

    FMR, what the hell America?!

    • Beagle

      Forget it, Jake. It’s Alabama.

      • RJ Bone

It’s so convenient that his religion encourages people to forgive others, so that they can turn around and do the same or worse again, isn’t it? If they’re even doing something that would bother their followers in the first place…

  • Nowhereman

Just what we need in congress–another white male conservative christian confederate who isn’t fit to be a judge, doesn’t respect the law and is proud to be ignorant for the lord.

  • DesertSun59

He’s clueless. That makes him fully qualified to be a GOP candidate.

  • TheManicMechanic

Willfully ignorant, religious imbecile. This country is infested with them.

  • Tomcat

He does not have to know anything, they tell him how to vote. Good republican.

  • Tomcat

He does have a copy of the constitution in his hand, I see it says ONE NATION UNDER GODS THUMB.

    • Mikey

that’s actually not the Constitution. Those words aren’t found anywhere in any copy of the Constitution.. unless they altered it for their own personal use.
The “under god” was added IIRC in 1956 but to the Pledge of Allegiance, not the Constitution.

Of course, this is neither here nor there.. since no Republican actually knows what’s in the Constitution.

  • JCF

“He’s an outsahder—he’s got mah vooute!”

  • olandp

Why am I not surprised that a pig ignorant low life is the Republican front runner for any office?
