REPORT: Robert Mueller Has Never-Sent Letter From Trump To Comey Full Of “Long-Simmering Complaints”

The Washington Post reports:

Special counsel Robert S. Mueller III is reviewing a letter drafted by President Trump and a top aide in the days before the firing of FBI Director James B. Comey laying out in detail why the president wanted to get rid of the country’s top law enforcement official, according to people familiar with the Mueller probe.

The multi-page letter enumerated Trump’s long-simmering complaints with Comey, according to people familiar with it, including Trump’s frustration that Comey was unwilling to say publicly that Trump was not personally under investigation in the FBI’s inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Some aides urged caution, these people said. And Trump ultimately sent Comey a far shorter letter that described his decision as having been prompted by recommendations from Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who served as Comey’s direct supervisors — a description that was echoed in initial public statements by White House officials.

The original letter was reported jointly written by Trump and Stephen Miller.

I do miss Comey on the show, but what happened the nice Jewish couple? Also, isn’t it time to introduce some evil twins? What about a tragic car accident with some hospital scenes?

I’m just glad all this simmering is reaching a full boil.

Now, if only they would lance that boil…

It’s1:00 pm here among the dramatic rugged red rocks of the west. Time to take an afternoon hike and return later to see what shit drops from the Trump disaster and world news. Will Mueller be fired? Will Kellyanne trip over her chin wattle and break a nail? Will thoughts and prayers dry, feed and clothe the homeless in Texass? We will just have to wait and see.

  • james1200

Stephen Miller, AKA Roy Cohn 2.0. Yeah, We KNOW Stephen, darling. There really is no bigger cancer in politics than these closet-case Homocons; they are so incredibly destructive and often racist, I guess because they direct the self-loathing they feel outwards to the rest of society.

      • james1200

I agree he’s far more lethal (and the man is probably psychotic, too) because he’s a billionaire. The vaccine shit doesn’t surprise me coming from a man who thinks drinking human blood will help him live forever. He’s a fucking cartoon villain; he’s the reason there will be a second French-type Revolution where millionaires and billionaires will be hung in the public square.

        • Cuberly

Ethical and human concerns are an impediment in his mind. Yep, he’s psychotic.

        • Todd20036

          I’m a millionaire.

And I’m hung wherever I go.

          SO there.

I’m also a Jewish grammar Nazi.

          • Dazzer

Then that would be ‘hanged’, surely?

          • Robincho

Stop calling him Surely. It only encourages him…

The only questions are which public restroom will he be caught in on his knees at a glory hole and when?

  • Jmdintpa

I just want to know when are they going to kick his ass out of office so all the broflakes and white trash can go start that war they talk about. We need to take out the trash and clean house around here and that will be a good excuse.

          • Bad Tom

            That would be white smoke.

        • bkmn

A bit farther north we are expecting 5 or 6 days above 90 with Tuesday possibly topping 100. That long of a heat spell is unheard of around the Puget Sound

    • Grimes

It’s nearing 100, if not over 100 all across the Bay today. No need to for a fire, unless you’re burning documents

      • Cuberly

Pretty much, last I checked parts of SF have already reached 104.

        • BobSF_94117

I remember one day about a decade ago, it was over 100. Despite the temps, the pups insisted on a walk up to the dog park. I sat on a park bench under some of the really old pine trees in Alamo Square and listened to the heat popping open the pine cones in the trees. The pups kept going, “What was that!?!?! Squirrel???” as they lay there panting and looking around.

        • Todd Allis

106 here in San Jose. 🙁

          • Steverino

112 here in Santa Rosa, and 103 at our cabin in the redwoods in Rio Nido (Russian River). Almost certainly records.

        • mark99k

SF actually hit 106, breaking an all-time record and far above the forecast. Still, we had it easy compared to the burbs. Several spots in the East Bay got to well over 110, and even now (8:30pm) are still in the 90s.

          • Cuberly

On SF Gate they indicated a spot in the MIssion reached 110. Beginning to think that weather link on their page is less than accurate.

          • John

I live in The Mission, kind of borderline Mission and SOMA. When I finally left my NOT air conditioned condo, my thermometer was reading 116. That was 3:15 p.m. I do not know how accurate the thing is. The outdoor sensor is as shaded as I can get it, that is to say not totally in the shade and not totally away from the stucco wall. Considering the 106 record breaker, and considering I live in the Mission, I’d bet it’s not all that far off the mark.

          • Cuberly

Lordy. I’m not sure why SFGate is so off in their measurements. But I swear I saw the 110 reading in the Mission. Actually it’s tended towards being the sunniest and hottest place in the city since, forever.

          • Menergy

I lived down in the Mission district for 20+ years…the “banana belt” of the City. and enjoyed the weather most of the time. But that record temperature of 103 back when was a shocker. Now it’s worse? 110F, 116F? “Yikes”, as I said earlier…

Good to be here in Santa Fe NM at 7,000 feet!

          • John

This is the link I use:

            https://weather.com/weather/today/l/USCA0987:1:US

At this time, 11:12 AM, my thermometer and weather.com are both reading 89 so I consider them the accurate source.

SFGate is always off the mark…maybe the reporting station they use is not representative???

          • Cuberly

Yep, it’s much more accurate, thanks. But now I’m looking at that 101 temp expected at 3pm today….. 🙁

        • JCF

108 here in Sacramento [Gah, 111 forecast tomorrow]

          • Cuberly

            Gah! Indeed!

The forecast was so far off in Oakland it was waaaaaay off.

Well, perfect excuse to clean house or do that goodwill sorting thing….lord knows that’s my mission tomorrow, maybe Sunday, maybe Monday…ARGH!

A written statement to compliment Trump’s on-air admission that he fired Comey for not closing the Russian investigation for ‘loyalty’s’ sake. Trump is such a buffoon.

    • RoFaWh

He’s far too evil and dangerous to be called a buffoon, even in jest.

    Mueller has the receipts…
… Trump’s original draft of his Comey firing letter that never was issued.
    https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/903691190075367424

I suspect it has many gafs that show intent…

  • Mike C

I’ve said it before but Trump got way, way too comfortable getting away with everything you can get away with, and make go away, in the total con game that is NYC real estate.

    • RoFaWh

The inference is that Trump is very comfortable dealing with mafia types and is hence a gangster himself.

This is really not news, when you come down to it.

  • tamiasmin

“The original letter was reported jointly written by Trump and Stephen Miller.”

So which of them gave it to Mueller?

    • lymis

Hell, they’ve already said that people came and went at random in the Oval Office all the time. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they left copies on the desk, or had some lower-level secretary run copies of it for review.

I wouldn’t be surprised to find that Trump doesn’t know how to print a document and had someone do it for him.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

At this point, I’m rather done with it all. This is going to drag on and on and on and on. It’s all tease and no show. We had the pee tape, but no one’s seen it. We had the emails to Jr., but no one seems to care. We had documents showing direct contact with Russians, but still….NADA. Now we have this “bombshell” and like all the others, it will probably be rendered a dud. Sorry, but at this point, people should just accept that Trump will be your president and nothing, apparently, is going to change that. Sorry for the pessimism, but there comes a point when you realize….it’s all just bullshit.

    • -M-

‘We’ never had the pee tape, it’s allegedly part of the kompromat that the Russians have on Donnie dumbass according to the Steele Dossier.

And if I could wish for Mueller to come into possession of part of that trove, I’d much rather it were something proving a crime than just showing Cuckworth’s sick, embarrassing, and reckless character which is already on full display.

    • Tempus Fuggit

Dude: No. The investigation is ongoing despite your being “rather done with it all”. Chill the fuck out and kindly stop regurgitating Trumpian bilge. This is not TV-land where everything’s all wrapped up in 22 minutes (…or is it?! Stay tuned for a sneak peak at next week’s episode!). This is real life, wherein thorough investigations of very complicated matters take time. The Watergate investigation took about three years, for example. Just because you haven’t personally seen documents doesn’t mean “but still….NADA”.

      • Jean-Marc in Canada

First off, don’t call me dude.

Secondly, don’t presume to tell me to chill the fuck out, because bitch, I’m in a cunty mood and that usually doesn’t end well for those stupid enough to push me.

Third, If I choose to feel tired or done with it, that is my right so why don’t you kindly emulate a lemming and run off a cliff.

Finally, while you may feel you’re being brave or even informative, know that all you’re really doing is vapidly harping like a trained seal in dire need of having his mouth stuffed. Simply put, I said what I said, I stand by it and you can now waddle off into oncoming traffic. Toodles.

        • Tempus Fuggit

          I’m in a cunty mood

          Coulda fooled me.

and that usually doesn’t end well for those stupid enough to push me

Oh! Am I supposed to be afraid of some overheated dillweed issuing vague, tiny-fisted threats on the internet? Sorry, I’ll keep that in mind for next time.

As for the rest of this time: Whaddya gonna do, call the OQLF on me or something? Also, lemmings don’t actually jump off cliffs; that’s a Disney myth.

Chill the fuck out or don’t chill the fuck out; it don’t make no nevermind to me, dude. Me, I don’t argue with shit—I flush (i.e., block) it.

I’m allowed to be frustrated, I’m allowed be pissed and I am allowed to be concerned that the U.S. is going to allow the insipid fuck in W.H. to continue. They have two amendments, either of which solves the issue, yet no one has the courage to exercise them. So yeah, escalation 🙂 ….. that and just a bit of fuck it, Imma play this.

Mueller and his team are being thorough. When they come out with their findings, everything will be air-tight.

No quarrel with your frustration. But it would be worse for Mueller to make all sorts of claims and seek all sorts of indictments, only to have the cases fall apart because of evidence that Mueller didn’t consider. He’s only going to have one shot, and it needs to count.

Also, for better and for worse, government tends to be slow. I’ve worked on matters that have dragged out for a very long time. Because I often have to go four levels up in the review process, plus go through several other divisions or departments that get to weigh in — and everyone has their own agendas and their own quirks. Things can move quickly when they have to — but they usually don’t have to.

All you had to do was be respectful, but no. It’s clear that civil discussion is no longer possible. I was not rude in my post, not even terse. I think I will stay tucked away in my useless country where freedom reigns and sanity is king.
