SURE JAN: White House Claims Trump Will Personally Donate $1 Million To Hurricane Relief Effort [VIDEO]

The Hill reports:

President Trump plans to donate $1 million to victims of the historic floods and rains that have devastated the Gulf region, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Thursday. Trump has not finalized what group the money will go to, and the White House said it would solicit ideas from the press corps, taking a dig at those who have fervently researched and questioned past donations Trump has made or claimed to make.

“He’s actually asked that I check with the folks in this room since you are very good at research and have been doing a lot of reporting into the groups and organizations that have the best and most effective in helping and providing aid and he would love some suggestions from the folks here and I would be happy to take them,” Sanders said in the White House press briefing room.

  • Gustav2

Just don’t take a check from the Kushners.

  • skyweaver

Okay, “Sure Jan” is awesome, Joe

  • Rex

You know how the Press Secretary says one thing, and then Trump turns around and does the opposite?

    • Yixing’s Fluffer

Well, he’s robbing hurricane victims of a billion dollars to pay for his wall…

  • Uncle Mark

Watch as this quickly becomes a “charity” run by the Trump family with some modest amount, if any, actually going to some influential Texan Trump toadies

  • Tulle Christensen

So I guess the Trump charity is going into the disaster relief business. Because the is the only charity Trump will write a check to, so it will end up back in his pocket

  • AtticusP

    Because Trump’s word is gold.

    • thatotherjean

Fool’s gold, maybe. Is iron pyrite actually useful for anything, except as pretty mineral specimens?

  • Judas Peckerwood

    We don’t want Putin’s money.

    • lymis

Sure we do. It’s Putin we don’t want.

His pledge has the same authenticity as a spam email from a Nigerian Prince offering information on an inheritance.

  • netxtown

I’d wipe my ass with every dollar bill and send it back.

  • Rex

He’s buying 10,000 MAGA hats to distribute to the poor people who lost all their head apparel.

  • bkmn

Translation – Trump will take $1M that has been donated to his charitable foundation (which should have been shuttered when he was elected) and present a big fancy check from it to some organization like ‘Texans Confederate Pride Commission’

    • Rex

To replace all the confederate flags and statues that were washed away.

      • bkmn

        and erect a few more

    • Todd20036

If that. Remember all the money he claimed he would give through his Trump charity?

Remember when he said he wouldn’t take a salary if elected??

      • bkmn

He doesn’t have to take a salary – he is making way more than that from Secret Service and other government entities renting space at his properties…and golf cart rentals

      • Sashineb

And remember when he said he would pay the legal bills of any of his supporters who got into fights at his rallies?

      • Lasted less time then his claim to be to busy to play golf.

    • Or give away “rate card” hotel room ($2000 a night that actually go on Priceline for $119) in his schlocky hotels that are empty anyway to evacuees who need places to stay and write off the costs as a charity expense on his taxes to continue to not pay them. Just check Expedia and see all the Trump properties available at a discount — there are a ton of them.

    • Bob Conti

BINGO. It’s not going to come from his piggy bank, but his “foundation.”

      • Bet it’s still claimed on his tax return we’ll never see.

  • Max_1
    • David L. Caster
      • David Walker

I printed that at the library today. One of the librarians walked by the printer, glanced at it, and broke any remaining “don’t make noise” rules the library has. Then she called over the person at the desk and she pretty much fell apart, too.

        • David L. Caster

It is brilliant. And very funny. It needs to be tweeted far and wide, and especially directly to Trump’s social media presence.

  • Ken M

Trump base value…$3.5 Billion. Make the donation at least* $10-20 Million, and I’ll take interest. Otherwise, if I was in “that room,” I wouldn’t care.

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

I plan on being a millionaire next year.

  • Max_1

I hear Ivanka is going to donate proceeds from her new clothing line…

  • Rex

Prince William and Harry are donating $100 million.
    Trump should match that.

    • bkmn

      Don’t hold your breath

    • Yixing’s Fluffer

All Harry has to do is show up in person and all the water will evaporate.

      • Reality.Bites

Then what will he walk on?

        • Yixing’s Fluffer

I dunno, but he’s free to sit on my face.

          • Todd20036

Um, wouldn’t that make you a throne?

          • MT YVR

I don’t think he’d be throne, I think he’d be fine with it.

    • ColdCountry

      Damn! Thank you, gentlemen!

    • RoFaWh

He couldn’t. He doesn’t have access to that much liquidity.

  • Marides48

    Show me the MONEY$!

  • Bluto
  • bkmn

Has anyone heard of ANY billionaires in the US that have pledged some really serious money yet or is it just the millionaires and us poors that are donating?

    • I know Brad Pitt build homes in Louisiana and that Tim McGrath and his wife, Faith Hill drove down hired trucks of supplies out of their own pockets.

  • Lizard

I can’t wait to see the receipts for both the donation and the tax write-offs.

  • MikeBx2

If he really wants to help Americans, keep the money and resign instead. In the long run, it’ll cost taxpayers less…

    • Karl Dubhe

Only 6% are unsure? Or did they swear too much for their answers to be understood.

      • Yixing’s Fluffer

“Welllll, he’s not quite as racist as I’d hoped…”

  • Uncle Mark

Just great; another Trump “charity”…another conduit for receiving Russian and other dark money

  • Rex

Beyonce donated 7 million and didn’t say a word about it.

    • ouch. that’s gotta hurt (his ego, not her’s).

      • JW Swift

Only if she winds-up getting more press over her donation than he does over his.

  • Reality.Bites

And this is the winner of last year’s America’s Cup sailing race.

  • Sam_Handwich
    • Sam_Handwich

with speculation that he’s going to try to run against Tammy Baldwin

      • Jukesgrrl

What a good idea. Cash in on all that Trump goodwill.

      • Gustav2

        That will work…

    • Jukesgrrl

Pouting because Arpaio’s getting all the attention?

    • DoctorDJ

      Yee Haa!
I’ll get the rail. You get the tar and feathers.

  • SFBruce

Some of us remember that time he used his own foundation, an organization that he hasn’t contributed to in quite some time, as his own personal cash register.

  • Jukesgrrl

If he really intended to do it, he would have made a donation already — as I did, as Sandra Bullock did, as so many others did — and announced that. Not an announcement that “he plans to donate.” Get back to us when you’ve completed an action, Baby Hands.

    • Jonathan Smith

  • MikeBx2

This is satire and as meaningful as Trump’s “pledge”…

    • Blake J Butler

I’d treat it like i do with unwanted political brochures (GOP), yeah so glad you spent more for the expensive ink and paper, it makes a great ignitor for my fire pit.

    • DoctorDJ

      Make’s a perfect flotation device.

    • JWC

I guess its the only way he can rid of the surplus unwanted copies

      • Jamie_Johnson

Only if they count towards NYT best seller numbers…

    • RoFaWh

And there are the scienos who run around giving “touch assists” to victims of catastrophes that are like prayer: doesn’t do a whit of good but makes the “giver” feel good about themselves. “Oh, I’m so charitable; I gave two hundred people a touch assist.”

I haven’t heard of the scienos in connection with Harvey, however.

    • lymis

If the paper is thin enough, it will help in the refugee outhouses.

    • David Walker

Now I know what it is about his face that creeps me out. He looks like the banjo kid in “Deliverance.” Other things about him and his close, personal relationship with god creep me out, too, but I just couldn’t figure this one out.

      • MikeBx2

      • stevenj

Is that Jeff Sessions when he was a child?

  • Max_1
  • Reality.Bites
  • Max_1

Trump, through SHS, solicits journalists and reporters for ideas on relief and disaster organizations to support… Like he doesn’t have a FEMA chief to turn to?

    • Tulle Christensen

He needs Fox and Friends to tell him what to do

    • Gustav2

      Someone should have suggested SPLC

  • JWC

And we may assume the cheque is in the mail NO? Say what?

  • MikeBx2

As he announces he’s going to kick out Dreamers and sabotage the ACA, a nice story of giving his own money should deflect some attention…

    • because of course. if you can’t win on your own, you take your ball and toys and go home.

just like a little fucking bitch.

  • Cackalaquiano

Is he going to donate every time there’s a hurricane or something else?

    • Johnny Wyeknot

He doesn’t really think things through, does he? Like running for president.

  • Professor Barnhardt

By the way, the “Prince William and Harry” thing looks like a hoax. See:

Who’s Beats me. I’ve never heard of them.

    I emailed Fahrenthold.

  • teedofftaxpayer

I love the tweet about Trump asking Putin for an advancement on his allowance.

  • TJay229

    “Sure Jan..” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂

  • Gerry Fisher

Cheetolini, Hon, your “I’ll make bold claims and count on no one noticing the lack of follow-up” act is very, VERY stale at this point.

  • Jim Maloney

    Forgot the quotation marks. “Donate”.

    • Jean-Marc in Canada

If ever the word “allegedly” is needed, it’s now.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada
  • Scotterz

It needs to be cash! none of that free golf vouchers nonsense.

  • Natty Enquirer

I hear it’s going to the Golf Course Recovery Fund.

  • Hank

President Trump plans to donate $1 million…. When HELL Freezes Over!!!!

  • ceeenbee

What? The shitgibbon thinks he can buy our adoration?

  • FelineMama

‘And I will include my tax returns along with the $’ (IT did not say).
OH WAIT, it was the White House that ‘sed’ it. They probably haven’t talked to Der Fuhrer yet. Oh boy.. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • RoFaWh

Two million fifty cents-off coupons for room service at maralago.

    Handling fee applies.

  • rednekokie

Sure he will — but he will deliver it in the form of trading stamps.

  • MassageBear
  • bambinoitaliano

Oh shit! Someone is going to get con for that million dollar into the shit gibbon account. Move over Red Cross! Here comes the Orange Cross taking over the scamming charity.

  • andrew

Don’t hold your breath. He has made these kinds of promises in the past. That lying sack of shit rarely gives away any of his fortune.

  • Halou

Trump has claimed to have at least a thousand times that amount of money, and that was before he started mooching millions from the US taxpayer and receiving undisclosed amounts in gifts from foreign governments.

    • stuckinthewoods

right, last year Trump claimed to have at least ten thousand times this “donation” and in 2016 was affronted when Forbes said he only had 4,500 times it.

  • boobert

There’s not a LOL big enough for that !

  • David Lightfoot

$1,000,000.00 in some of the best steaks you’ll every have, once you shave off the freezer burn.

    • Gianni

🙂 Donnie likely held on to them this long because he had a hunch that he could unload them somewhere along the line and get the necessary accolades for being so generous, freezer burn and all..

      • AJayne

Plus the tax deduction, dontcha know…

        • 2guysnamedjoe

That’s one of the banes of disaster relief efforts — individuals and corporations dumping goods that aren’t needed just for the tax write-off, or unloading them before or after the time they’d be useful.

        • Gianni

I forgot about that. For a supposed billionaire, he goes after every effing penny he can get.

  • thatotherjean

I will believe that when I can watch FEMA (or whomever winds up designated) officials count the money. I doubt that will ever happen. Talk is cheap. So is Trump.

  • Phil2u

Allegedly, when Trump told his father he had earned a million dollars, his father replied that it should have been two. I think one could say the same here; after all, he is a billionaire. Just ask him.

  • Daveed_WOW

Lol he doesn’t even pay his employees

  • j.martindale

What a saint! I hear he is withdrawing all funds necessary to make the ACA work, thereby destroying the insurance program, putting millions at risk of loss of insurance and bankruptcy, and making the people with pre-existing conditions pay thousands more for their insurance, or go without and die. What a FUCKING SAINT. I hope he dies a miserable death and sees his family suffer in prison for their crimes first. I wish him Mussolini’s end, hanging from a rope upside down, preferably naked, jeered by the citizenry.

    • Gianni

Well, Donnie has said all along that Obamacare, being the disaster it is, is going to implode or explode, whichever word popped into his mind at the time. He just never revealed that he was going to help it along by undermining the necessary funding. He is such a treasure.

    • “preferably naked”

You’re the real monster here, inflicting that sight on all those innocent people.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

I’m not a fan of assassinations or Bolshevism, but the Romaniffs got what the drümpfs deserve.

  • I guess the reaction to his Texas trip hit a nerve.

  • NowAnAgnostic

I wonder whose check will clear first. The $1 Million donated by the Leonardo DeCaprio Foundation, the $1 Million donated to the Red Cross by Sandra Bullock, or the Drumpf check.

  • LesbianTippingHabits

No surprise here. I will believe it only when a credible American charity(ies) acknowledges receipt of the funds.

In other words, just like the rest of Donald Trump’s creditors, never.

Trump Never pays any of his bills. Never. This is well documented.

    He’s also a non-tipper. Thank you.

  • AdamTh

Donnie might donate the money, but it won’t come from him. It will come from someone else.

  • Gianni

Does Donnie realize that having made that donation statement, the media he hates so much will be laser focused on him to make sure he does or he’ll be humiliated to the n’th degree? I know he has no shame, but that would be too much for a great many of his loyal supporters.

  • JCF

“Trump will donate $1 million to #HurricaneHarveyRelief. He is on the phone with Putin for an advance on his allowance.”

  • 2guysnamedjoe

Flood victims won’t see a cent from the cheap bastard.

  • Girlgoon

He’ll double his money back on hurricane Harvey merchandise hats T shirts et cetera.

  • Girlgoon

The Last time trump tried to donate to hurricane relief he sent a whole truckload of useless s*** nobody needed then tried to act like he was some big spender

  • Jeff D

    In Rubles?

  • BigGuy

No evidence exists of Donald Trump giving his personal check or cash to any charity in the past 20+ years. Nearly all the contributions he gave during that period were from the Donald Trump foundation which he ran, but did not fund. Contributions to the foundation came from people doing business with Trump. The majority of contributions from entities controlled by Trump have been gifts in kind, NOT cash. For example, his golf courses in cold climates offer free playing time to charities for fundraisers in the Winter. During hurricane season, some of the golf courses in Florida are made available to charities for fundraisers, provided the charities sign a release beforehand. Also, nearly all the golf courses provide free parking to clergy between midnight and sunrise. Note that 15 minutes past sunrise, any clergy cars still in the lot will be dunned for greens fees for the day — about $200. Land in Westchester County where he was denied building permits was gifted to the state of NY for parkland.

Washington Post reporter David Fahrenthold won a Pulitzer Prize for his work documenting Donald Trump’s charitable giving. I made up what I wrote about the golf courses providing free parking to clergy, but when I telephoned the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, the receptionist verified that what I said is true, especially about greens fees being charged against any cars in the lot 15 minutes past sunrise.
