REPORT: Tillerson Is Next On The Chopping Block

Axios reports:

There’s a ticking problem with Rex Tillerson, and it’s growing louder by the day, according to officials inside and close to the White House. President Trump has been growing increasingly frustrated with his Secretary of State. Recently, after Trump had returned from a meeting on Afghanistan, a source recalled Trump saying, “Rex just doesn’t get it, he’s totally establishment in his thinking.” Tillerson’s jaw-dropping comments on TV Sunday will likely only worsen their relationship.

You may recall that Axios correctly called all of the recent shitcannings at the White House.

    • jmax

I love Kushner peeking out from the foliage.

      • Michael White

Is he cruising the bushes practicing for prison?

        • jmax

Is that what they mean by “beating the bushes”?

      • clay

(shoulda been Spicey, though Kushner does need to be in the image)

        • jmax

Spicer would have been funny too. I just love that “Is it safe to come out yet?” look on Kushner’s face.

          • clay

Was he the one literally hiding in the ferns at that hotel party?

        • Joe in PA

Fun fact: Spicey lives in my old neighborhood in Alexandria, VA. Some former neighbors were visiting this weekend and they said they see him running in the neighborhood, but usually talking on his phone. LOL

      • Reality.Bites

So does another steve, in another way.

    • clay

The collars on Priebus and Jeffy are a nice touch.

  • Mark

    Cue KellyAnne…..

    • FAEN

Will she show up with or without the meth.

      • Rambie

        Easy answer; Only with

  • Michael R

Can he hand in there long enough to collect his Russian oil money ?
    Stay tuned !

    • jm2

he can’t collected while he IS in there.

  • TexasBoy

Well, there IS a person at the White House that needs to be shitcanned, but it isn’t Rex.

    • Just one?

      • Blake Mason

        The one that matters.

        • Right now we have a Chaotic Evil President soon to be followed by Lawful Evil.

  • mattdocmartin

His recent comments about Trump’s comments pretty much have sealed his fate.

  • FAEN

He’s probably very relieved-he didn’t want the job to begin with plus he’s more comfortable controlling pols rather than being one.

    • Rambie

He can go back to Exxon

      • FAEN

Which is probably what he’ll do.

      • BobSF_94117

Can you imagine the size of the bonus he’d get…

  • Henry Auvil

Secretary of State. Maybe that nutty sheriff can take a whack at it next. Or Ivanka’s caterer.

  • Yalma Cuder-Zicci

Who will take his place? Kushner?

    • Dagoril

Maybe Drumpf can get Based Stickman to do it.

  • NMNative

Another trump dump. It’s what trumps good at, taking a giant dump on everyone and everything, friend or foe, he doesn’t care.

  • Friday

Drumph just can’t keep good minions, can he? 🙂

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

1). He recently said “Trump speaks for himself” to distance himself from Trump’s increasingly unhinged behavior. In Trump’s lizard brain, you must either be a blatant cheerleader or you are an enemy.

2). Because of Congress tying Trump’s hands on lifting Russian sanctions, Tillerson has no purpose. He was brought in to reinstate the half trillion dollar deal of which Trump was no doubt getting a cut.

    • Christopher Smith

And besides, he’s missing his nap times.

  • Anastasia Beaverhousen

I’ve seen less turnover at the local McDonalds.

    • jmax

That’s because the average McDonald’s employee is somewhat competent at their job.

    • Reality.Bites

More vetting, staff more qualified for the jobs they’re hired to do and receive training to learn more complex jobs.

You know, come to think of it, I never drink/eat their shakes or McFlurries. I bet they taste really good with Bailey’s. Or pure spirit alcohol – they’re already flavoured.

      • jmax

“More vetting” from McDonald’s – funny and scary at the same time.

        • Reality.Bites

I seriously think that McDonald’s does the best job they can at hiring and always have.

The skills you need to work the counter are the same you need to work in much better jobs that still aren’t great but pay better and you don’t go home smelling like a Big Mac. The best ones move up or move on.

I’m sure they’d love to be able to raise the barre higher, but they can’t.

          • jmax

Oh, I’m sure they do. I wasn’t criticizing Mickey D’s good hiring practices, just Trump’s lack of the same.

      • netxtown

I had my first “McFlurry” just the yesterday. At $2.49 – it’s a ripoff. Of course, that was also my very last “McFlurry”.

    • Ernest Endevor

      Or among your household staff.

      • Anastasia Beaverhousen

As you know, I have had to let Rosario go due to her demand for higher wages.

        • Reality.Bites

Translation: Rosario finally asked to be paid wages and Anastasia was high.

        • Ernest Endevor

Don’t tell me you just had Rosario on staff. Surely you’re not living in a cave.

          • Reality.Bites

Don’t be silly. She hasn’t lived in a cave since the rest of humanity did.

        • Joe in PA

Well, after she stole those Chanel sling backs….what could you do?

          • trouble94114

but they were the same color as her Members Only jacket..

    • ColdCountry

But he hires only the BEST people!!

      • Joe in PA

Lots of people are saying that.

      • Joe in PA

Need more coffee: I thought you typed: But he fires only the BEST people!!!

        LOL…works for me. 🙂

        • stanhope

Except for the ultimate dim wit sean spicer….now that boy is stupid

          • Marlene Good

            They all are and liars…….

    • james1200

But isn’t this the best thing about the shitshow that is the Trump administration: Trump’s absolute disloyalty. He hires the worst of the worst and then stabs them in the back and it’s fun as hell to watch, lol!

And the weirdest part is, they never see it coming.

      https://media.giphy.com/media/C6q2xwNFsKrxC/giphy.gif

      • jmax

I don’t know what’s funnier – the people who don’t see the knife aimed at their back, or the guy who hires total dickheads and then acts surprised and fires them when they act like… well, total dickheads.

    • Reality.Bites

      If you’d said Grace’s bedroom I’d know you’re lying.

Oh no, honey, of course I don’t mean she’s a slutty little whore who’s been with every straight man in Manhattan and 83% of the gay ones.

I simply mean that all the men who’ve been there asked her to turn over.

    • Michael R
  • Uncle Mark

Won’t puppet-master Putin be upset if Twitler fires Tillerson?

  • clay

“Rex just doesn’t get it, he’s totally establishment in his thinking.”

Trump just doesn’t get it, the corporate CEOs are the establishment. “The Deep State” isn’t the Obama appointees/hires holding over, it’s the normal corporate heads, institutional investors, and bureaucrats doing normal business.

Trump just doesn’t get it, the weak-ass, play-it-safe, middle-way in Afghanistan, that he took from the Generals, is totally establishment in it’s thinking.

  • Reality.Bites

OT: Tiny hamster has a tiny cast

(I think the whole broken leg thing is a scam. That hamster’s a Nazi and his arms is always like that anyway, so they photoshopped a cast)

    • Ernest Endevor

That even beats the tiny, widdle country mouse who built his nest inside my ink-jet printer!

    • CanuckDon

Can’t write too much on that one!

  • Hue-Man

Poor Rex, if he gets fired, he’ll be penniless and unemployed – if you ignore the $180 million golden parachute he pocketed when he left Exxon!

    • clay

Oddly, Rex’s was one of the “cleanest” breaks in this Cabinet. DeVos outright refused to divest from the school lunch service company she’s a principle in.

  • HZ81

“Rex just doesn’t get it, he’s totally establishment in his thinking.”

Bullshit. If he was, he’d have an idea of what to do as Sec. of State. He doesn’t.

If the nonsense idea “Let’s run the USA like a business,” isn’t dead now, nothing can kill it.

Who am I kidding? This country is pretty much over. Strip mall with a military.

  • canoebum

    Deplorable John Bolton on deck.

    • Ernest Endevor

      Don’t even. Because.

  • Stephen Elliot Phillips

    UMMMM
you picked ALL of these incompetent assholes. Hows that winning going? you piece of rotted, corrupted orange flesh

    • Tawreos

Well, he wouldn’t have picked these incompetent people if it hadn’t been for Hillary and the democrats obstructing his thought process or something MAGA

  • Stephen Elliot Phillips

    sebastian gorka for SoS!!!
Yay. Lets bring nazism to the masses

    • Joe in PA

      And probably doesn’t need a security clearance…win win. 🙁

  • Harveyrabbit
    • Ray Taylor

What happened to his “stolen purple heart”.

      • coram nobis

        Or his Order of Lenin?

  • bkmn

Poor Don, if Rex is already talking bad just think of what he will say when he is on the outside.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

He seems to be forgetting Machiavelli’s rule about keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.

      • coram nobis

Donald probably couldn’t pronounce Machiavelli’s name, let alone have read his works. Probably thinks Machiavelli is a French tire manufacturer. Just as well.

        • geoffalnutt

          It’s a spaghetti sauce.

            The Pasta and the Discourses.

  • VodkaAndPolitics

Again, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind the audience at home that a major part of the reasoning behind electing someone with no political experience was because he was going to use his incredible business skills to hire nothing but the best and the brightest to lead our government organizations.

    • Ray Taylor

      Best = Most $$$$$

  • Uncle Mark

Who or What will Twitler replace Tillerson with? Who/What is willing to take the job?

    • Dreaming Vertebrate

I could recommend a very qualified former secretary of state, but there’s no way she would accept a position with Twitler. Sad!

      • charemor

        But her emails!

  • Adam Stevens

    Tillerson speaks for himself.

    • Joe in PA

      FTW!

  • Joe in PA

    Heck of job Rexie“.

    Couldn’t resist.

O/T, I just got in to a “discussion” with a fellow PA constituent of Sen Toomey. He posted a picture on FB of a #TaxReform meeting. When I made a snarky comment about Trump’s #TaxReturns, this brilliant person claims that he already did release his tax returns. SMFH…the ignorance that is out there. And she STILL doesn’t believe me. 🙁

    • Sam_Handwich

so give him this link to Obama’s tax returns and ask him to provide you similar for Don the Con’s

      https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/blog/2016/04/15/president-obama-and-vice-president-bidens-2015-tax-returns

      • Joe in PA

Thanks, I’ve already asked for some kind of proof. I’m waiting for a link to a Fox News article. And BTW, when I checked out her FB thread it is eat up with “God Bless America” shit and lots and lots of Flags. Sigh.

        • Treant

The only real reply when she sends you that Fox article is, “These are not tax returns. Which you are too fucking stupid to understand and too fucking stupid to continue arguing with. Go MAGA, bitch, and just keep voting for people who lie to you. You’re too damn ignorant to notice it anyway.”

          • Joe in PA

Yeah, she’s probably thinking of the “financial disclosure” thing he produced…that apparently means nothing.

        • Tawreos

It will probably be a link to Rachel Maddow, when she released an old tax return of Trump’s

  • Joe in PA

Hey, there’s a sheriff in AZ that is available. 🙁

    • jmax

I thought Arpaio was gunning for Ambassador to Mexico.

      • Joe in PA

        LOL!

      • clay

(gunning for the Ambassador of Mexico)

      • Librarykid

How long would he remain alive in Mexico? He would be safer in prison.

  • jimbo65

Sooo I guess this means Ghouliani might have another shot? Or Mittens, if he’s willing to go another round of public humiliation?

    • Stubenville

I think Mittens is keeping his distance from Cheetolini to keep any future political ambitions alive.

      • Reality.Bites

And any hope of his own planet.

  • Slippy_World

And -behind the wall … ….

  • Jon Doh

Trump’s buddy Eric Prince is available, and endorsed by the Secretary of Education.

    • 2guysnamedjoe

I wouldn’t be in the least surprised (and that’s no snark).

  • DesertSun59

I’ll bet Tillerson strategically dumps his Rosneft stock just before he’s shitcanned.

    • Ray Taylor

Must be pretty much worthless with sanctions in place.

  • Taylor

Tillerson should make his exit this week, send the resignation letter tomorrow, while Trump is in Houston. And let the SOB deal with another White House crisis.

  • AtticusP

Every time a Trump appointee gets fired, an angel gets its wings.

And the wing factory has been working three shifts since January 20 of this year.

    • clay

Technically, how many have been fired? We had that spate of a half dozen in the winter, and Gorka, but all the others, including Flynn, have resigned.

      • Joe in PA

Although not Trump “appointees”, I seem to remember a certain number of judges. 🙂

      • AtticusP

They may all have resigned, but I’m willing to bet that every one of them was made an offer that they couldn’t refuse.

      • charemor

Resigned or fired, the fact is he can not keep a cabinet. There are many positions that are still unfilled and it is going to become increasingly difficult to find anyone stupid enough to try and work with him.

        • clay

I think the numbered actually fired is relevant for two reasons: Trump’s false reputation from his “reality” show, and Trump’s acceptance of unacceptable staff.

    • jerry

And the Oompa Loompas come out and sing.

      • AtticusP

Poor things must be hoarse by now.

  • Sam_Handwich

I think i read that at least 2 high-up officials at State resigned on Friday. The whole Dept is gutted,, and it wont be fixed until another Dem president.

So Mission Accomplished for Rexxon? Time to go wreck something else

  • Stubenville

Gee, wouldn’t it be great if there was a process where candidates for top positions vere checked to see if they were qualified, and maybe double checked by a vote of Congress? Nah – too much work.

    /sarcasm

  • Stubenville

I wonder if that party planner Trump appointed to some position is available? Everyone loves a good party, right?

    • Smokey

Timothy Harleth, after all he has 3 months experience!

    • The_Wretched

I hear Gorka is now available.

Mr. Merrywheather would be a fitting addition to the Trump cabinet. ( and, no youngins, NOT Mayweather).

  • Mark Née Fuzz

    Jared Kushner for SOS?

    • Treant

Jared may end up heading seven or eight departments by October.

      • Karl Dubhe

every day, another announcement to puke over

    https://twitter.com/NewsHour/status/902195320217509888

    • coram nobis

I’m a little surprised the announcement came from the AG. If it’s a resumption of the old program, the one Obama suspended, it would be run by the Law Enforcement Support Office of the Defense Logistics Agency. It used to be known as the “1033 Program” and provided surplus military equipment — weapons, vehicles, personal gear, night-vision equipment &c. — to local police departments. (In California, that included the UC police).

And, yes, it was one big disturbing reason for the militarization of local police

Yay, more murder without him! Jesus, it’s disgusting who winds up looking less f uped in this admin.

      Rexx-n is nexx-n the bl-xx? This l–xx exquisite!

    • Treant

(THUD of final brick in the State Department hitting the pavement as it falls) ‘My work here is done.’ Tillerson said, swaggering off into the sunset.

Hey, most of the other countries don’t speak to us any more. Of course it’s time for him to go.

  • Sam_Handwich

looks like Biblestan is hopping on the bandwagon.

and i think Erick is right that the logical replacement is Nikki Haley

    https://twitter.com/EWErickson/status/902196860445708288

    • Treant

I completely agree that it’s time for Tillerson to go, but for different reasons.

  • 1. Tillerson was never qualified for the job in the first place.
    2. It does appear that at least part of his reasons for accepting the job was to try to do it…but it became evident again that he has no clue how to be America’s top diplomat nor how to run State, which as usual for Trump, he was sent to destroy from within anyway.
    3. Donald demands all of his underlings never criticize him, because as a psychotic narcissist, he can’t handle any negative feedback.

And so here we are. The guy who’s tried gamely a whole bunch of time to clean up Donald’s messes is now potentially on his way out.

Because in Donald’s kakistocracy, you’re not allowed to even try to do your job if it involves in any way contradicting his daily insanity.

    • JWC

      welcome back

    • Tor

Kakistrocacy. Thank you for the new word – though it is not really a new word at all.

      • edrex

        more like “cuckistocracy.”

        • Tor

          We can go there, too.

  • The_Wretched

The State dept was on a par with our military as a tool for US power. Trump’s unilaterially disarmed part of our national defense and stripped out protection for out economic system. He should be removed for this dismantlement of the US (let alone the rest of it).

  • JohnJay

Well, clearly, the next SOS is going to be Jared. Hey, he’s already been over to the Middle East working out an area wide peace with Israel.

    • kareemachan

      Yeah, right.

  • JWC

After Tillerson watch the next be General Kelly

  • Exatron

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. I have a family member who works for the state department, and he’s said Tillerson actually takes the job seriously.

    • Karl Dubhe

He didn’t realize that he was hired to wreck the place?

I’m almost impressed by him, but he still was dumb enough to accept the job.

      • There are times I believe he took the job to try to keep cheetolini from starting wars. Sure some of it was to protect his zillions of dollars he’s worth, but I think at the base of it he is an American who cars for his country.

        • Karl Dubhe

In some ways, he can do both; protect his investment and serve his nation.

Well, sort of. Exxon and the other energy companies are sitting on a great mass of ‘stranded assets’. Climate change didn’t cause the floods in Texas, but it did make them very much worse.

If the fuels keep getting burnt, what happened in Houston will happen every year, somewhere. (in the rest of the world, these waterbomb storms have been happening for the last few years.)

        • kareemachan

          Pffft.

    • BobSF_94117

      Takes his job seriously?

    • Tor

He takes his job seriously. No, he does not fit in with the president and the rest of the cabinet.

    • kareemachan

He might, but his priorities are fucked.

    • LesbianTippingHabits

Secretary Tillerson may take his job seriously, but he’s doing it all wrong.

  • BobSF_94117

I wonder when Mrs. Pence is going to call Mrs. Tillerson and tell her she can stop packing his lunch everyday.

  • Hank

  • fuzzybits

I’m sure he’s planing a party the same day.

  • bambinoitaliano

President Trump has been growing increasingly frustrated with his (insert anyone he has ever appointed here)_____________.

  • leo77

This concerns me. However compromised Tillerson may be, he was at the end of the day, a pragmatic businessman. We don’t need a bunch of gonadal adolescents who think they have something to prove to the world running foreign policy, turning every hiccup into a dick swinging contest.

    • Ken M

The ex Exxon-Mobile CEO is est. to be currently worth between 280 and 300 million. Depending on the value of his stock. At last check, 54 million in Exxon stock alone. Somehow I don’t think power or money are major concerns

  • Gerry Fisher

Sooooo…Trump think’s he’s “anti-establishment?” He really has no clue as to what he’s doing, does he?

  • Ken M

Secretary of State is one that MUST be replaced, and quickly. This could get interesting. Maybe he will ask the good sheriff.

    • Helen Damnation™

OMMFG can you imagine Secretary of State Arpaio?

      • DrRobY

The Senate would not be happy.

But McConnell would lead them over the cliff.

Whatever is poor, poor Rexxon to do about his money. Doesn’t anyone care?!! What about the Exxon oil deal with Russia? *sob*

  • Halou

He failed to give Putin sanctions relief, so of course he has to go.

  • TuuxKabin

    Repeal & Replace.

  • kareemachan

Fired/quit. Which is it? As long as rexie realizes he won’t get his Russian oil, why would he stay?

  • Kissmagrits

What Trump didn’t factor in when choosing Tillerson is that he has a provable track record in the oil industry – one that’s not smoke and mirrors. And I’ll bet he knows a thing or two about the middle east…….

    • LesbianTippingHabits

Well, Secretary Tillerson has yet to demonstrate any competence in managing a large and diverse organization. So, it’s time to move on.

  • KnownDonorDad

    “Hey, Jared….”

  • Derrick Johns

LOL Maybe I shouldn’t laugh about it, but Trump is fvcking crazy! He’s a crazy old fat bellied man.

    • andrew

The only thing that stops me from laughing is that trump has access to the nuclear codes.

      • Reality.Bites

I’m hoping they’ve only told him he does, and when he does they take him and his family off to the nuclear bunker and tell him whatever they need to tell him to keep them there for the rest of their lives.

  • netxtown

Sorry Rex. This ‘job’ doesn’t have a golden parachute….

  • JCF

“The President speaks for himself” sealed Tillerson’s doom…

  • LesbianTippingHabits

‘Time for Rexit. In fact, long overdue, for a variety of reasons. Thank you.

  • the most amusing thing about this whole ordeal is the renaissance of the word “shitcanning”. it warms my little heart.
