Man Loses Online T-Shirt Store Over His Anti-Semitic History After Trump Retweets His Anti-Obama Meme

Raw Story reports:

Life came at Jerry Travone, the author of the eclipse meme, fast. Earlier in the day, he was mocking “libtards” who reacted to the image — but soon found himself locked out of the account for his t-shirt store, Pro Wrestler Tees.

Travone, who describes himself as a “YouTube actor and political junkie” on Twitter, claimed the account for his wrestling t-shirt store was hacked when he was exposed for anti-Semitism. In response, the company OneHourTees said they closed his store because he “hates Jews.”

Sure…with ketchup and lots of salt.

          • Lumpy Gaga

As a waiter, I once had a customer claim the squab on his plate was beef.

And here’s the thing: It wasn’t deboned or anything, just split and spread: you could still see its little legs and little wings and all.

Only time I saw the manager speechless.

          • Chucktech

I’d last about two minutes as a waiter. I’d be soooo fired.

There was a musical called “Working,” based on Studs Terkel’s book, and one of the numbers was for a waitress.

This is what happens when gamers deal with the real world.

    • Mikey

hey! some of us gamers are actually normal people!
and some of us are gaymers, too.

      “FOR THE HORDE!”

      • m_lp_ql_m

There’s nothing wrong with playing games, as long as you realize that they’re just games. When gamers start to identify as such, they’re making more out of it than it really is. It reeks of privilege.

        • Mikey

I don’t quite understand what you’re getting at nor how it applies to the discussion on neo-nazis and t-shirt stores.

I’m a gamer. ie: I play video games (well, technically, only A video game). I identify as a gamer, as in it is a thing that I do and is thus part of my identity.

I also identify as gay. It’s part of who I am.

And there are so many other things I identify with, so how is that “privilege”?

What I think reeks of privilege is when people start telling others how they can or cannot identify, and accusing them of privilege.

    • NZArtist

      Woah, slow down there grandpaps.
      I’m a gaymer (700+ hours on Witcher 3, 500+ hours on Borderlands 2…)

I need help remembering something. I bookmark a lot and I am sure I have a bookmark on this but I just can’t remember the person nor the country so I am unable to search my bookmarks.

I remember that some anti gay activist went to a south American country, and this man spoke to that countries Senate or Parliament to pas santi gay laws. This activist was given like a huge medal on a ribbon necklace. I remember watching videos of it.

I googled Brian Brown & Brazil & then other ppl & Brazil, then I tried Columbia etc. I just can’t come up with it, but I so distinctly remember it. I remember the dark paneling in the Senate or maybe it was a Parliament) room.

It was somebody like Brian Brown or Scott Lively or maybe it was Robert George. I don’t think it was Alliance Defending Freedom guy, but could have been. And he spoke to a South American Country’s legislative body. Does anybody else remember that?

    • safari

      Scott Stirm and Belize?

    • Ron Robertson

Wasn’t that Peru? It’s possible it was Colombia, since their court made Gay Marriage legal. Heck, it could have even been Chile, but I do remember vaguely something like what you’re talking about, just not where down there it was. I don’t think it was Brazil, though.

    • zhera

I’m thinking Peru. It was when whoever it was, (Staver?) made the claim about the 70 000 people in a football stadium praying for something or other in the USA.

  • BobSF_94117

I really don’t want people at OneHourTees making decisions about whether Tweets are “acceptable” or not.

    • Mikey

OneHourTees, not being a governmental entity, can make whatever business decisions it likes.

      • BobSF_94117

You don’t really mean that. They can’t make the business decision to refuse to contract with, say, gay people (they’re located in Illinois, where that would be illegal).

        • Chucktech

False equivalence. They can certainly refuse to be associated with Jew haters.

          • BobSF_94117

Note the use of “whatever” in the comment I replied to.

          • Chucktech

So? They CAN make “whatever” business decision they want regarding doing business with deplorables, and that’s what this is.

        • Mikey

          yes I do mean that.
they can decide not to make tee shirts that promote hatred. a perfectly defensible stance.
I also wold not support a manufacturer or retailer who sold products that promoted hatred of religious people, regardless of my own religious views.

          but therein lies the difference.
refusing to promote hatred is not the same thing as choosing to discriminate actively against a minority group.

    • Natty Enquirer

This case falls squarely within the right of association. Whatever you want.

      • BobSF_94117

I suspect it has more to do with contract law and small print.

      • BobSF_94117

The idea that a company can have “right of association” is about as silly as the claim that it can have “religious beliefs”.

        • Natty Enquirer

You mean a company does not have the right to choose with whom it does business? News to me.

          • Tomcat

            Stop digging BOB.

          • BobSF_94117

The right of free association belongs to human beings. I have the right to not associate with fundamentalist Baptists, for example. My company does not have that right.

In most states, discrimination against a political stance is not illegal, but in some states it is. I would think that somewhere in the tiny print of his contract, there’s a clause allowing OneHourTees to terminate a contract based on bad publicity, etc.

          • E.J.

Following that line of reasoning, a baker can choose who they make cakes for.

    • Tomcat

Feel free to accept antisemitism Bob, It is your right.

      • Tomcat

Bob is not usually a troll but today he must be off his meds.

        • BobSF_94117

I am not trolling. I just don’t trust corporations to make moral judgements. They’ve got a bad track record.

    • Ron Robertson

They’re refusing to contract with him because he’s publicly being antisemitic. That’s an objectively immoral stance he took. Refusing to do business with gays is no more acceptable (or shouldn’t be) than refusing to do business with Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, etc., that is NOT a moral stance. They’re taking a stand against bigotry. Not the same as someone BEING a bigot.

    • zhera

They get to make decisions on what is acceptable FOR THEM. It’s not like they forced him off of Twitter. Or hindered his free speech.

  • Buford

Lemme guess.. he’s one of those hyper-patriotic morons who think the First Amendment guarantees him to right to say whatever hateful thing he wants with no repercussions at all… there’s nothing anyone can do about it…?

  • Ham

I’m still trying to figure out the Jews can’t drive bit. I feel that would be really hard to nail down without a lot of over the top, culturally specific, accouterments, like a menorah hanging from the review mirror and a “I love Babs” bumper sticker.

    • Mikey

apparently, the ones that can’t drive are the Nazis, driving into crowds of people.

      • Treant

Naw, you can say Nazi as much as you want.

        Punch the Nazi.

Y’know, I kinda like the eclipse meme. Obama made the world a brighter place in many ways. trump has darkened it to the point of getting the whole planet’s attention. But the darkness of the solar eclipse only lasted a few minutes. trump can try to darken Obama’s legacy, but the hope is that the damage won’t last – unless you look (buy) directly into it. So, it seems apropos to me. trump may think he’s eclipsing Obama’s greatness, but he’s just darkening the world for what’s looking more and more like only a few minutes. Then he’ll be just a memory of an…unusual…thing that happened once and won’t happen again for a very long time, fingers crossed.

(Yeah, I know, it’s not a perfect analogy. Damage has been done, people have died, trump has blood on his hands, and we’ve been set back seriously in many ways. Also, the solar eclipse was pretty cool, so my apologies to the sun and moon, you guys are swell. It just occurred to me that they’re kinda accidentally trolling themselves, depending on how ya slice it.)

Keep exposing your deplorables, you racist FUCK of a fucking FAKE “president”!!

    Unsre Stärke heißt zu schwach,
Our strength is said to be too weak
    Unserm Feind zu widerstehen.
    To withstand our enemy.
Stünd uns nicht der Höchste bei,
If the Highest [JUSTICE] did not stand by us,
    Würd uns ihre Tyrannei
    their tyranny would
Bald bis an das Leben gehen.

TY once again Mr. Bill. You and your posts (especially your sharing of the music) helps keep me as sane as I am. You sir, are a true hero. Again, many thanks.

  • Ernest Endevor

Wait. ‘You tube actor’? That’s a thing? You get medical coverage if you get 20,000 likes?

    • SoCalGal20

You get money if you have ads on your channel. And if you have a large enough following you can get endorsement deals and shit.

    • Treant

Some do quite well. I’m subscribed to half a dozen channels, some by individual people, some by media.

BlameSociety does, among other things, “Welcome to the Basement,” which is a great movie review duo (neither one hard on the eyes). Also, Matt has cats that can be seen wandering through the shot during the filming.

      • Ninja0980

A couple of them have done well but as I said below, I think it has run its course for the most part.
Not to mention many of the youtube same sex couples on there like Dan & Brian & Luke & Vinny have broken up.
Will & RJ…suffice to say I have people that know them and it’s not a matter of if one of them will go to jail for beating the other up but when.
Mark & Ethan are about the only real ones on there IMO.

        • Treant

I’m not sure if we’re reaching the end, but perhaps the end of YouTube Celebrity. They’ll, like, go to Vimeo. 🙂

As far as content, don’t tell me it’s the end. I just found it. 🙂

    • BJORN RAGNVALDR

There are YouTube personalities who’ve made millions from advertising endorsements, it’s unreal.

    • CottonBlimp

Youtube isn’t substantially different than TV, there’s just much less of a barrier to entry. There’s some fantastic independent TV shows on there, and it feels like it’s filling the void left by the demise of UHF stations, where weird shows like MST3k got their start. I don’t know what this guy’s deal is, he’s probably bullshitting, but YouTube has become a pretty legitimate industry.

      • Ernest Endevor

The best part about this is that there are so many hateful Trump supporters losing their jobs, homes, friends, family, etc… that they can’t do their usual money begs and get richer than they were before. This is poverty time for these assholes.

If one stops for a moment and considers the event this meme plays off of it would be hard to say the meme isn’t perfect for its subject, just not in the way initially intended. This was the eclipse of the sun by the moon. Therefore logically the meme is showing that Obama represents the sun and Trump represents the moon. Obama radiates his own energy (ideas) and Trump simply reflects light (in this case expensive real estate, trophy wife, etc.). So while the sun (Obama and his ideas generate their own energy) will return to its normal brightness the moon (Trump with nothing but reflected ideas) will fade into the darkness of history.

  • UrsusArctos

TOTALLY O/T, but yes, this is a real thing. It’s on US 301 in Orangeburg, SC appropriately enough. I think it’s begging to be LOLed and shared far and wide.
I almost swerved into a ditch trying to get off the road and grab a quick picture. That would have screwed up getting to Georgetown, SC for eclipse viewing.

If I’m not mistaken shouldn’t Obama be passing in front of the orange dude? Because that’s how an actual eclipse works. The big orange round thing is blocked from view by a big black shadow.
