WaPo Tool Shows You What Trump Sees On Twitter

Ad Age reports:

The Washington Post has done a tremendous job keeping readers abreast of what Donald Trump is up to — in its reporting, of course, but also in the various online tools it’s created.

In December, for example, it debuted the “Trump Tweet Fact- Checker,” which allowed readers to fact-check any of the then President-Elect’s tweets, right on the spot.

Recently, it debuted another useful Twitter-related resource– @Trumps_Feed, an account that lets you see what Trump sees, whenever he opens up his Twitter app.

Noting how along with cable news, Twitter is one of Trump’s primary resources for current events, The Washington Post introduced the tool to help enlighten readers as to how the POTUS forms his world view.

“It can be tricky to know what someone else sees when he or she fires up the application,” writes National Correspondent Philip Bump in the Washington Post intro for the tool.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say the only “world view” the president has is “is everybody adoring me and if not, how can I fuck with them”.

If I placed Trump in the heavens, I would see Trump as less of a heliocentric figure and more of a cousin planet to Uranus, maybe BloatedAnus. Or he would be a large meteor headed towards earth.

I’d rather he was a large meteor headed towards the sun.

O/T: Discussion about Democrats and the writing on the wall. It’s time we actually have that conversation. Before the coming elections.

Democrats are starting a fierce internal debate. Finally.

With President Trump flailing and even Republicans panning the GOP-controlled Congress, Democrats have begun a long-overdue debate about the party’s platform and strategy. Citizen movements and progressive political leaders such as Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are driving this debate. United in opposition to Trump’s reactionary agenda, they are calling on Democrats to embrace a bolder agenda for change. While many Beltway pundits warn against Democratic division, the party’s congressional leaders — Nancy Pelosi and Charles E. Schumer — understand that this has been a long time coming.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

They just announced the other day that Kyrsten Sinema is going to run against Flake in Arizona. At first, this seemed like a far-fetched idea to me. Sinema can win in her very progressive district, but I just can’t picture her winning a statewide race in Arizona. But the more I thought about it, I thought the timing is perfect and it’s now or never. Flake’s approval ratings are around 16% and he is probably going to get primaried by an ultra-rightwingnut who, I hope, will not be able to win statewide.

The Dem seat that’s most worrying is probably Claire McCaskill in Missouri, but if Trump’s & McConnell’s numbers drag down the whole GOP by about 8 to 9 points, which some analysts are saying is happening right now, then McCaskill might be able to pull off another surprise win.

  • Todd20036

    Trump never watches TV, huh?
Most of his twits are simply Fox news, or entertainment, or shit about him.
In other words, normal shit for some redneck in a trailer park, less so for a POTUS.

Society uses the wrong methods to value people.

The other bet is that Elon will make Dragon work.
Dragon rides won’t be cheap, though.

And the first people to strap themselves into a newly human-rated Dragon will need some genuine balls.

Astronaut 1: Elon. Just to check. We’re using the old procedure to load upper stage O2, right?
          Elon: Ummmm.
          Astronaut 1: ELON!
Astronaut 2: Abort. Abort! ABORT RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!!!

          • Bad Tom

Recall the SpaceX Falcon 9 Heavy / Dragon launch accident at Pad 40 in 2016. The cause was a new, faster procedure for loading LOX (liquid O2) into the upper stage tanks which utilized super-cold fluid. The extra cold temps caused insulation to form voids, which in turn caused friction to ignite the LOX. The spacecraft was destroyed less than one second after the first indication of an anomaly on telemetry.

I saw a list someone compiled of the people/sites he follows. There are less than 2 dozen, if I recall. All his kids except Ivanka, his wife, the WH, Drudge Report, some Fox stuff, his lawyer, some of his properties, a couple of close friends, and that’s it. No cabinet members, no military leaders, no “real” news sources, nothing relevant to running a country.

Still, it’s an impressive (and illustrative) list, an augury of what’s in our Leader’s little mind. A White House Tour … in the Twilight Zone.

OT: Do democrats have a message or not, you decide
Which party’s message is the following?
Women’s right to control their own bodies.
    Right to free birth control.
Right to marry same sex or opposite sex.
Right to use bathroom of you true sex.
Right to come out without fear of reprisal.
Right of same sex couples to adopt children.
Right to expect good health care from our country.
Right to clean safe air, water, foods and grounds.
Right to progress to renewable energy.
Right to join the world in stopping global warming.
Right to make a living wage.
Right of gays to work without reprisal.
Right to have a word in the work place.
Right to worship or not without reprisal.
Right to be free from religious created laws anywhere in USA.
Right to keep our Federal and State parks oil free.
Right to have honest and free elections.
Right for gays to serve in military without reprisal.
Right to honest education and free public education.
Right to have a racist, bigoted FREE government.
Feel free to add your message to mine and stop saying Democrats have NO message please.

And right of women to make same wages as men make.

    • jerry

Now if we could just fit that on a bumper sticker.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Here’s the problem with that list: our ever-increasing polarization. Many or most of the people who approve of that list already live in states where they have all of those things through state law (CA, NY, MA, WA, VT, OR, HI, MD, etc.). Many or most of the people who would be strongly opposed to that list already live in states where those things are opposed by state laws (AL, MS, KS, OK, WY, ID, etc.) and they would view that list as a threat of federal government forcing changes on them that they don’t want.

The other problem is nobody would be able to remember it. The Democrats need a program that can be summarized in short, snappy, easy-to-remember slogans, preferably less than 5 words with no big words. Unfortunately, that is where we’re at with elections for the foreseeable future.

I am 68 years old and I remembered these things because they are actual things the [party stands for. Stop whining about needing catchy BS and cartoons to get people to go to the polls.
Anyone that cannot do a little research of our party might just as well vote for the republicans that use the same slogan every election cycle. Stop abortion and Democrats hate you and wrap yourself in the flag.
I noticed there are 11 up votes on my comment and it was placed late in the thread but there are no up votes on your whinny comment. If this upsets you too bad, I get upset at people that help the GOP by bashing our party.
