Via email from hate group leader Brian Brown:
The tragic events emanating from Charlottesville, VA this week, and their aftermath, have dominated news coverage. Our prayers go out to the family of Heather Heyer, who was killed by a reported neo-nazi sympathizer and white supremacist who drove his car into the crowd. We also pray for those injured in the car attack. And we pray as well for the families of two state troopers who were killed in a helicopter crash while covering the melee.
It should go without saying, but I will say it to be clear: racism cannot be tolerated in America. Those who profess hateful racial views, whether they be white supremacists, skinheads, neo-Nazis or some other disgusting cult of hate, should be condemned. And I do condemn them. God did not make any race to be superior to another. He made us all in His image, all equal, all with inherent human dignity.
We’ve never seen outrage from the left to the violence that radicals, including LGBT extremists, inflict and encourage. We don’t see it when NOM is attacked, we didn’t see it when an LGBT activist attempted to commit mass murder on those working at the Family Research Council in Washington, and we didn’t see it when a leftist supporter of the Southern Poverty Law Center attempted to murder Republican members of Congress, and shot our good friend Rep. Steve Scalise.
We ask you to keep us at NOM, and the cause of marriage, in your prayers. We also ask you to please support the National Organization for Marriage with a generous financial contribution. Your financial support of NOM will be used to fight the intolerance of the left and push for important legal protections for Americans who believe in marriage as the union of one man and one woman. These protections include passage of the First Amendment Defense Act and the issuance of a comprehensive presidential executive order on religious liberty.
NOTE: Hours after the 2012 shooting at FRC headquarters a national coalition of dozens of LGBT groups DID express their outrage with a joint statement “utterly rejecting and condemning” the attack. But Brian Brown is Lying For Jesus™, so whatevs, right?
