HUMILIATION: Trump Dissolves Business Advisory Groups After More Top Execs Jump Ship Because Nazis

The Los Angeles Times reports:

President Trump announced Wednesday that he is dissolving two of his advisory panels, a decision that came as a wave of the panels’ members decided to depart. The chief executives of 3M Co. and Campbell Soup were the latest to announce their departures. The CEOs of Merck, Under Armour and Intel quit Monday, and on Tuesday, the president of the Alliance for American Manufacturing trade group and two AFL-CIO members left.

We had neighbors in Georgia with the two most darling little boys. The parents were clueless morons. They would buy some toy for the boys to play with. One time it was an expensive remote controlled race car. It took about an hour for one boy to smash it with a baseball bat because the other was driving it. Another time, they brought a huge boombox. Before the afternoon was out, one of the boys took a hose to it because the other boy changed the station. Both children were equally horrible.

  • Todd Allis

    Ah, some good news.

  • Blake Mason

I think this really stings him as he thinks of himself as a pillar in the business community… to see these CEO resign from his advisory groups makes him look incompetent… imagine that.

    • Uncle Mark

Not only incompetent, but openly reviled by his fellow wealthy brethren

      • Lazycrockett

He has always been reviled by the wealthy. They know what he is, a grifter.

      • Todd20036

Yes, his base consisted of Nazis and wealthy businessmen who wanted access to him and his money and his ability to right tax cut policy.

The wealthy left. All that remains now are the Nazis.

    • He’s always looked incompetent. My question does he feel embarrassment? I doubt it. Only anger and revenge. I’m sure he is composing school-yard-bully tweets right now. And is planning his revenge.

      • Chris Baker

I agree. I don’t think he believes that anything is his fault. It’s the fault of the lying media, fake news, Mitch McConnell, etc. Remember, he has been surrounded by sycophants his entire life. People opposed to him were sued, so they dropped their complaints (lawsuits are expensive). So in his eyes, he is the winner.

When the Merck CEO quit, rather than just saying something semi-neutral like “I am sorry that he feels this way and is leaving,.. but my comments were misinterpreted.” he attacks the CEO and Merck. He’s the spoiled bully.

I doubt Pence will survive as long as Trump has.

Then we’ll start to make nasty references to an American Politburo.

        • Chris Baker

      • Dazzer

Apparently he was a thoroughly decent man. He also didn’t believe in the death penalty as a means of preventing crime.

A friend of mine grew up with him as a friend of the family. He used to come round for Sunday dinner, was known as “Uncle Albert” and was deeply loved by all the kids.

It was only when she hit her mid-teens, that her parents explained to her that Uncle Albert was Britain’s last hangman.

But when she talked to him before he died, he was able to explain a major part of his motivation for doing the job was to ensure that the execution was as fast, painless and efficient as possible.

He also celebrated the end of the death penalty in English and Welsh law – even though it put him out of a job.

        • coram nobis

Interesting, and true. And there’s an excellent film about him with Timothy Spall in the title role.

Anyway, I was pointing out that this little prank can be dangerous.

          • Dazzer

            Cool!

I didn’t know that. I’ll look it up. I’ll ask my friend Nicola if she’s seen it.

            Thanks for that.

          • coram nobis

Various titles, usually “Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman.”

Spall is also terrific in the title role of “Mr. Turner”, about the artist.

          • Dazzer

I loved him in Mr Turner. It’s a slow but magnificent film.

All round, Spall is a good egg.

          • coram nobis

He was also terrific as the Mikado in “Topsy Turvy.” And he had a good baritone.

          • Dazzer

His son, Rafe Spall, is also a stonkingly good actor.

Also, he’s curiously sexy and quite well hung as he proved in I’ll Give It A Year

Johnson: Can We Move On From Trump Defending White Supremacists Already

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) signaled on Wednesday that he’s tired of questions about President Donald Trump’s controversial comments on the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

β€œYou tell me what he needs to say so we can move beyond this,” he told reporters, according to the Cap Times. β€œHe said it once. Again, I’m not going to speak for the President, I speak for myself.”

β€œIs it too early to think about Article 25 and impeachment?” asked one reporter.

    β€œOn what grounds?” Johnson responded.

O/T: Today the City of San Diego removed a plaque commemorating Jefferson Davis from Horton Plaza, a prominent public square in downtown. Good!

    • kareemachan

      Why would they commemorate Davis?

ETA: The plaque read: “First Pacific Terminal, Jefferson Davis Highway. Presented to the city of San Diego May 12, 1926 by California Division United Daughters of the Confederacy. Replaced May 12, 1956.”

      JD Highway?

      • clay

It was the end marker of the proposed Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway. Of the same time period as the Lincoln Highway, before Route 66, it would have connected Arlington, Selma, Biloxi, Austin, El Paso, to San Diego. The Daughters of the Confederacy planned to extend spurs to Miami, Kentucky, and Seattle. It was never really completed and superseded by the US numbered Routes, and then the US Federal and Interstate systems.

        • William

Those places aren’t on the same highways today.

        http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/politics/sd-me-confederate-monument-20170816-story.html

Clay is right about the highway part. There’s also this:

According to the text on the plaque, it was presented to San Diego on May 12, 1926 by a state chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (California sided with the Union). The plaque was replaced 30 years later.

BTW, there’s also the matter of a California town — Fort Bragg — named for a rebel general. (Fun Fact: several movies had scenes shot there, including “The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming”).

Yes. Their confederate sympathies during that war were notorious.

It would be nice if they put up a monument to the 6th Massachusetts. The 6th suffered the first Union Army casualties of the war, and it was a Baltimore mob that did it.

        • William

Maryland was occupied by federal troops to prevent it from seceding during the war. Washington DC would have fallen if that happened.

          • coram nobis

Indeed. There was a period of about two weeks or so in April 1861 when Washington was cut off from the rest of the country, it had no Federal troops in the capital and the Maryland legislature was making overtures to the rebels. The B&O railroad through Baltimore was the only railroad link, and the city’s plug-uglies were making it difficult. At one point, Gen. Ben Butler had artillery pointed at Baltimore as a disincentive.

    • William

  • This is absolutely an archtypical example of a pathological narcissist’s reaction to rejection: Rage and attempted preemptive destruction.

In a marriage it would be more like, “You’re leaving? Well fuck you! I’m divorcing you and you’d better take everything you want right now because I’m burning the goddamned house to the ground in 15 minutes.”

Donald’s desperate for the approval of those he respects and admires and wants to be in their “club” as it were. These CEOs fit the bill perfectly: Rich, successful businessmen (and a few token women). Every one who quit was an injury to his ego, a public shaming…and one of the single most powerful motivations for the narcissist is “avoid shame.”

So he just acted to end the shame, with an act of “you can’t leave, I’m destroying it” petulance.

Without much question immediately after he attempts to fire Mueller and pardon himself and his family members…which will be challenged in court and probably overturned as a manifest and illegal abuse of power.

Earlier today, on here I entered a post, referencing the GOP’s ( McConnell and Ryan’s failure to deounce Trumps endorsment of the NAZI agenda. As it is nearing the 24 hour mark, I offer a challange to all the JMG readers. Send an e-mail to your senator or congressman asking “WHY”, asking their position on this matter. The e-mails list are not hard to obtain. Remember NO action is an action. Many of you on here have maintained that you are just ‘one’ and your voice does not matter. This is a way to make all those “one” voices be heard, loud and clear. Ask yourself this one question: Do you like your life , are you happy where #45 is taking you? Here is your chance to make a unified contribution. Here is your chance to make a stand and be counted. Be strong!!

Done and done. Dean Heller is hiding. No response from him. But Catherine Cortez Masto sent a nice e-mail (boiler plate) of thanks and announcement of her denouncing Alt White racism in all forms.

        2018 is 4 months away

        • Octavio

Heller is not in a safe seat. Only the Republican Party really likes him. However, he’s not as bad as the twatwaddle who Matos replaced.

    • Jefe5084

My Republican Senator from Colorado (Corey Gardner) who usually has his nose so far up Trump’s ass I’m surprised each day that he is still alive, actually called them “assholes who do not belong in this country.” The only thing he’s said so far I can agree with. He’s a douche, regardless.

      • JWC

Just keep at them do not let them ioff with a simple remark that they will later deny 2018 is only 4 months away

      • OdieDenCO

did you catch any of gardner’s town halls? he got reamed on health care again.

        • Jefe5084

Yes, even in Greeley. I didn’t attend a friend who lives there did. I live in Fort Collins, he doesn’t like our general attitude in Fort Collins. Those pesky protesters. There were anti-Trump demonstrations at New West Fest this past weekend. Love it.

I’m certainly getting my laughs in today! So, Donny, what’s next? Congress won’t do what you want so you’re going to fire them all?

    • Ross

      He would…if he could.

  • KnownDonorDad

I’m getting so tired of winning.

  • Galvestonian

It’s more likely that he couldn’t get any other executives to join the Council.

  • Marides48

    LOSER!!!!

  • Halou

Total nonsense. “Rather than putting pressure on the businesspeople….” Yet I thought it was them putting pressure on him over his failure to condemn a Nazi murderer, his blaming the victims of said murderer for their being attacked, and his saying that some people associated with the murderer are actually ‘nice’ people.

  • Stogiebear

I look forward to his twat announcing that he’s disbanded Congress.

We are now in the unfortunate situation of having a POTUS who is so outrageous as to be unacceptable to the plutocrats who own most of America, including the U.S. Congress.
