Nuke Fears Provide Trump With Approval Bump

At least with Rasmussen:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 44% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) disapprove. The president has been rebounding this week from his low-to-date approval rating early last week of 38%. The latest figures include 27% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 45% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -18.

    • james1200
      • How is there more than 100% in the first poll and why aren’t there undecideds/refused to respond in both? Usually when people fake results they take the time to make sure things add up.

        • james1200

          I didn’t even notice, lol!

          • Yeah it’s really easy to miss, but as a rule of thumb if it’s from Fox News and involves numbers, I automatically reach for a calculator.

I think many would approve of Kim killing Trump. How’s that for a poll?!

So… Republicans APPROVE of him trying to start a nuclear war with despots who WANT to bomb us?

    Well that’s it… we’re literally fucked.

    • Todd20036

Yes, they do. In fact, there was some poll taken back during the election season that 62% of republicans think Trump could start a nuclear war AND THEY DON’T CARE.

    • Max_1

I think Korea says that they want the USA to leave them alone. But WE just can not do that. The US government can not run this country: so why do we think that we should be permitted to tell N. Korea how they should run theirs?

  • PickyPecker
  • crewman

Giving Trump an approval bump for threatening nuclear war is like giving a little taste of heroin to a junkie. A little will not be enough, and he’ll probably try to amp up the initial behavior that gave him the reward in hopes of getting even more.

  • Bad Tom

OF COURSE IT IMPROVED HIS POLLING!
Trump’s low-life political instincts are good.
Short-sighted, mean-spirited, and despicable, but also shrewd.

    • Lizard

I refuse to give him that much credit. He’s a bully and a puppet; someone more shrewd than him is pulling the strings.

      • Bad Tom

He can work a crowd into a fever pitch. He connects on a gut level with them. It doesn’t require smarts. Indeed, intelligence in that particular role is a detriment.

It doesn’t matter that his message seems to be gibberish (it is, really.) That’s now how his tribe experiences him.

More than anything, Trump is a tribal leader. His tribe is led by emotions, not reason.

He fails in government because leading your tribe isn’t enough, and he hasn’t got anything beyond that.

        • Lizard

That is all true, but I still think someone is whispering in his ear, “Make the people focus on this North Korea thing and they won’t focus on the Russia investigation…”

          • Bad Tom

            That is probably true.

In which case: what figure in this administration has been flying under the radar for a long time now? There was a blip on a blog recently, a photo of him with an author of a nazi linked book, tweet soon deleted.

I like how doing everything wrong is making people like him. NK told its people it needed the nukes to defend against America. They were the target of the most powerful country in the world. I sometimes wonder if Americans would be so flip about war if it ever happened on our soil during their lifetimes and in person.

    • Lizard

They weren’t very flip about 9/11.

      • DaddyRay

That was very traumetizing but it certainly wasn’t a sustained war going on for years on end

        • Lizard

          Um…the War on Terror?

          • DaddyRay

A war on an ideology – not bombs dropping in your neighborhood or tanks rolling down your street

          • Lizard

Tell that to the soldiers who died in the Middle East. And the civilians killed by drone strikes, while we’re at it.

No, bombs aren’t dropping on our streets, but Americans are dying nonetheless.

          • DaddyRay

I just don’t think Americans take war seriously – it is some macho thing they watch on TV

          • Lizard

Then you are ignorant of what millions of Americans think. Perhaps you should research American polls on war before making such statements.

          • DaddyRay

Maybe you should look at what happened last November

          • Lizard

Where the Democratic candidate won the popular vote by a margin of millions?

          • DaddyRay

Where millions didn’t even bother to show up to vote

          • Lizard

Yeah, around half of America didn’t vote. There are a surprising number of reasons for that. Some of them couldn’t be bothered. Some of them couldn’t get an ID in time. Some were afraid.

Who says Americans are only allowed to care about other Americans?

          • DaddyRay

I am not saying we don’t – we watched what happened in Aleppo and a good majority of Americans didn’t give a rats ass. I was balling my eyes out and thinking how horrific it must be to have that happen where I live

          • Lizard

And you think only you felt that way? What is your trail of thought here?

Yeah, a lot of Americans don’t care about brown people dying in the streets. I do.

          • DaddyRay

Not enough of us felt that way to elect a sane president

          • Lizard

If you’ll recall, the sane candidate won the popular vote by a margin of millions.
