North Korean State Media: It’s Not Possible To Reason With A Senile Man Who Spends All His Time Playing Golf

The New York Daily News reports:

Americans and North Koreans can agree on one thing this week: President Trump is golfing too much. A North Korean general took a swing at Trump’s favorite presidential activity at the end of the second day of nuclear tensions between their two nations.

Speaking on North Korea’s state-run media Wednesday night, Gen. Kim Rak Gyom also called Trump’s sanity into question as the President continued to lob threats of a potential nuclear battle. Kim said Trump was spending his time “on the golf links” while failing to “grasp the ongoing grave situation.”

Trump, he said, was “extremely getting on the nerves” of North Korean soldiers by making comments that showed his “senility.” The general, who oversees North Korea’s strategic rocket forces, said it was “not possible” to have a dialogue “with such a guy bereft of reason who is going senile.”

Howdy, Vorpy! We made a big batch of lactusvirosa tea this afternoon (2 quarts, very strong) and downed about a cup each (very bitter). Suddenly we have no worries and are most relaxed. As I recall, you yourself are an aficionado of medicinal and psychoactive plants. When I first tried the stuff in my 20s I had no real aches and pains and was not terribly impressed. In my mid 70s I have aches and pains in spades. Remarkable stuff. The joint pain and general arthritis has been quelled quite nicely, thank you very much. Hope you are doing well. 🙂

      • vorpal 😼

        Octavio! =big rumbly purrs=

I have always been a bit curious about Lactuca virosa but figured, from what I had read, that it was probably too weak to have much of an effect (and that would probably be the case with me, since I have the lingering opioid tolerance that never truly fully goes away that comes with years and years of opioid use).

If I can get my little paws on some, I will give it a try out of random curiosity, especially since I am having pain and all they seem to want to give me here in Chile is more and more tramadol, which doesn’t work at all for me because I am one of the lucky 7% of caucasians that has an ineffective form of the enzyme (CYP4502D6) that metabolizes the prodrug tramadol into its active form, o-desmethyltramadol.

Out of curiosity, have you ever tried kava? Such a wonderful, nice, relaxing drink. Whenever we go to the Big Island of Hawaii, there is a little kava bar in the southeast that we hit up and the staff and crowd there is great: so friendly and accommodating! (I’m sure the copious quantities of kava, alcohol, and weed being consumed don’t hurt.)

Glad you and the partner had a lovely day and that you got some much-deserved relief from your aches and pains! And thank you for thinking of me and sending me a note… much appreciated and always a pleasure to hear from you. I’m very happy to see you posting again.

I find this exchange absolutely wonderful. It reminds me of when I used to absolutly adore the comments section on this website, back when there was thoughtful conversation and genuine friendships, before it became the great race to post a meme or a gif.

        • Nic Peterson

One of my associates brought me a lovely Kava Bowl when she returned from a visit to Samoa. The ritual is interesting and the effect is pleasant enough. The taste of the product isn’t exactly a go to, but it is essentially calorie free.

          • vorpal 😼

It’s definitely an acquired taste. I think the first time I tasted it, I was mildly horrified by the soapy flavour. Now, I actually crave the taste and the interesting mouth and throat numbing effects!

Ahhh… if only alcohol was calorie-free, dammit!

    • Gustav2

Fox News reported that Trump attorney John Dowd made the statement in an email “to a Wall Street Journal reporter who wrote about the Manafort raid.”
“These failures by Special Counsel to exhaust less intrusive methods is a fatal flaw in the warrant process and would call for a Motion to Suppress the fruits of the search,” he wrote, alleging that the FBI agents who carried out the raid collected “privileged and confidential materials prepared for Mr. Manafort by his counsel to aid him in his cooperation with the Congressional committees.”

But two Journal reporters who wrote about the raid told TPM they hadn’t received such an email from Dowd.

      http://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/john-dowd-manafort-raid-abuse-judicial-process

      • bkmn

They wouldn’t have gotten the warrants to search his home if they were only fishing for evidence. They were looking for specific things that Manafort may or may not have been honest with Team Mueller about. This is typical Trump operating procedure – protest anything and everything to slow the process down, fortunately Mueller is working for the government and will not be hindered by the issue of cost.

    • Buford

Waking Manafort’s family up at 3am to serve a judge-approved search warrant was “pretty tough stuff” that may not have been “appropriate”…

A reminder to our “purity voter” friends.
And NO, you can’t claim I’m a HRC fan. I voted Bernie in the primary, then did the adult thing of holding my nose and voting for HRC in November.

I supported Bernie in the primary, too. I too grew the fuck up and voted for Hillary (who really wasn’t that bad of a candidate anyway; I wasn’t unhappy supporting her).

It’s shocking to me how many Bernie-or-busters there are.

      • FAEN

Read the piece I posted above. The purity police are on the attack again.

    • Buford

It’s real simple – there were only two possible candidates in Nov. You either voted for Hillary, or you supported Trump – period.

It’s more that those folks need to spend some time outside the “Blue Bubbles”. Nothing moves you to pragmatism like having to deal with reality. Thanks for the link

        • FAEN

It’s not even a ‘Blue Bubble’ but more like a ‘DELUSION BUBBLE’. Somehow they’ve gotten in into their heads that if the candidate isn’t 120% on board with exactly what they stand for it makes sesnse to vote third party which puts the pol-who stands for nothing they support-in power.

Talk about cutting off their noses off to spite all our faces.

        • Tiger Quinn

I don’t think we need to be taking advice from a Bernie supporter.

          • UrsusArctos

This type of response to someone in the red state trenches makes more problems for moderate Democrats than you have any idea. It is the flip side of the Bernie or Bust coin. BOTH are worthless in 2017.
I agree with you in that Bernie WAS NOT the answer. I supported HRC when it mattered. I voted for him in the primaries a way to push the party a bit left because if they played “Blue Dog” democrat with this Clinton the slaughter would have been worse and even harder to recover from.
You can wag your finger at a Democrat living in Mississippi and dealing with the reddest of GOPers when you earn that right.
Engaging with anyone who didn’t play politics as you see fit, is hurting your cause more than helping it. The PERCEPTION of uptight/rigid/purity testing is not limited to BernieBots. You need to get the stick out of your ass.

    • Tiger Quinn

Oh wow, you voted for a very qualified candidate who spent her life in public service, and now you want credit for “holding your nose.” How about if you just grew up, would that be all right?

      • UrsusArctos

I would expect this conversation from a BernieBot. I haven’t had too many HRC supporters who didn’t understand my voting for her despite my misgivings. I know she was a decent choice but needed a nudge in the primaries rather than a coronation some thought she “earned”.
Insisting on purity in allies will abet 45* and his ilk. An ally in a cause, even with flaws, is an ally and you can’t browbeat them into purity any more than a Bernie fan can.
I “held my nose” because I have dealt with fallout from Clinton “triangulation” since Bill and Ray Mabus (former MS governor) were playing “Blue Dog” politics at the state level. I’ve had an extra 10-12 years of Clintonite politics.
She IS probably the MOST qualified candidate we have had in a generation or two. By and large I prefer her policies and actions to Bills. But the machine she embedded with has enabled the GOP to reach a point of near unstoppable power.
DESPITE all that I voted for her and would have largely been happy with the results.

        • Stubenville

The coronation aspect was EXACTLY what made me dislike her, more than any of her policies. Yet I compared the two leading candidates and voted for her (well okay, I would rather pound thumbtacks into my gums than vote Republican.)

          • UrsusArctos

I actually like her. I dislike some of her policies, loved other policies. I really disliked the meme that it was “her turn”.
If she had been a stand alone candidate without the Clinton baggage I think she could have won in a blowout. Unfortunately for her (and her supporters) the 30+ year barrage of slime/slander made HRC crouch defensively on almost every issue. Casual observers see that as “shifty”. That was her largest hurdle to overcome.
