Trump Boasts About Power Of US Nuclear Arsenal

Mediaite reports:

Donald Trump is not backing down from his nuclear rhetoric. On Wednesday the President of the United States tweeted a pointed warning to North Korea, saying that the U.S. nuclear arsenal had been overhauled under his watched and that U.S. capabilities were “far stronger and more powerful than ever before.”

The tweets are a remarkable doubling down of the hostile rhetoric the president deployed yesterday from his working vacation in Bedminster, New Jersey. After news broke that North Korea had developed necessary technology to outfit a nuclear device on an intercontinental ballistic missile, Trump warned that he was prepared to rain “fire and fury” on the regime should they continue the escalation.

We are no longer the most powerful nation on Earth because we have an ignorant toddler in charge.

    • kaydenpat

Germany and France are vying for that title. The U.S. has abdicated its position after electing an idiot.

      • canoebum

Every member of the Electoral College who voted for this scumbag should be duct-taped to an oak chair and beaten liberally about the head and shoulders with a rubber hose. The videos should then be uploaded to YouTube as a warning. Do your duty to the country or pay the consequences.

To be fair, it wasn’t the election of 45 that caused the U.S. to slip. Mostly it was because of same-sex marriage, and turning away from Jeebus. /s

It’s okay not to be the most powerful nation in the world, just stop embarrassing and eroding the reputation of centuries old nation. This shit gibbon spending the reputation of the country like the Palin clans just discovered a bag of cash buried behind their trailer.

…who is willing to go to war to distract from his investigation.

      • Ted.OR

Unlike President Bill Clinton, who had expressed major concern about a fellow named Osama bin Laden. But to the Republican Congress, Clinton was just doing that to distract from the really important issue — that he had sex with an intern. And by the way, what was Newt Gingrich doing at the time, with regards to upholding his marriage vows?

Even if Trump is impeached and we return to some semblance of sanity, we have taught the world we are one election away from a Trump, and that we have a populace, who would be willing to elect such an unqualified and dangerous person, and who can be manipulated by a foreign enemy into believing fake news and thus controlling the outcome of the election.

  • bambinoitaliano

This idiot is the walking example of an incompetent blowhard. Anyone can see through his embarrassing antic with zero substance.

  • kaydenpat

Another instance of Trump taking credit for something done by the Black Kenyan.

Thankfully, Trump has to give the order to Generals to start any nuclear war. I’m hoping that the Generals rebel against his foolishness if he ever gives such an order.

    • fuow

Don’t hold your breath. He’ll order it and they’ll carry it out.

  • Tawreos

He managed to update our entire nuclear arsenal in a little over 7 months with no word getting about it until he tweets it? The man really needs to get out of fantasy land. If the aresenal completed its upgrade since he has been in office then it was started under Obama if not earlier. He is bragging about something that either has not happened or had nothing to do with him.

  • DaddyRay

The damage this man has done for all future efforts to get countries to sign on to nuclear non-proliferation treaties makes me both furious and sick

      • Treant

Those movies are overly cheerful. Honestly, watch “Threads” or even the more-modern and Hollywood-slick “Aftermath” from 2015. It’s not a great movie, given its design limitations, but we follow one group of people post a nuclear attack. Hint: it does not go well.

        • Joe in PA

I think I’ll pass. We might be living it soon. 🙁

Wait, you said “overly cheerful”??? Oh my. 🙂

Amazing how Republicans like so many of the things Obama did… they just hate that it was Obama that did it.

    Modernizing the nuclear arsenal
    Recovering from the recession
    Job growth
    Saving the American auto industry
    Eliminated Osama bin Laden
    Improved America’s image abroad

My suspicions are that were Kim to try and start a nuclear confrontation one (or more) of his generals would probably put a bullet in his head before anything happened. No matter how zealous a military officer might be, they’d have to know that starting a nuclear war is not going to end well for their country, for any country.

I suspect, or hope, that the same fate would await any other world leader who was to consider resorting to their nuclear arsenal in such a foolish way.

Maybe I’m too much of an optimist.

    • bambinoitaliano

The timer is on to see which nation generals between the two would save humanity from either mad man.

    • Treant

I tend to think that soldiers are trained to obey in all situations, and this may not be too different. Let’s hope for somebody intelligent and with integrity when the time comes…

      • Mikey

good soldiers should also know that it is their duty to refuse an illegal order.
I would think that “putting the survival of the human race in jeopardy” falls into the category of “illegal orders”.

    • Tawreos

Dictators don’t maintain power by letting someone near them with the spine and the will to end the dictatorship.

  • OdieDenCO

Attention leaders of the world: It is time to step in. summon your US Ambassador and explain to them how wrong donny is in no uncertain terms. Act now before you are dust in the nuclear wind.

    • Karl Dubhe

He hasn’t appointed many of those, most of the ambassadors are the temporary ones. But each(?) nation does have their ambassador in Washington.

It’s time to send every one of those ambassadors in Washington to the White House and the Congress to express themselves.

      • John30013

We have no diplomatic relations with North Korea, so no ambassador on either side.

Hey guys, I’m back with some unfortunate news. Esteban had to be taken to hospital early this morning. Turns out that anxiety attack he was having last night triggered a mild heart attack. He’s stable, conscious and relaxed. He’ll be staying in the hospital for the week for observation. While I am not a man of faith, he is. So for those of you who are people of the faith, I know he would appreciate your thoughts.

In the meantime, I’ll be bouncing back and forth with my continued attempt at humour and the occasional critique of the days headlines. Hugs.

        • Silver Badger

          Excellent. Good luck!

I’m in the room with him now, the hospital put my bed right beside his. He’s sound asleep with his cute little snore, so I’m just peeking at things. Beyond that, I nap now and then. But yeah, most of the blogs I’m off for awhile. That said JMG is, for the most part, upbeat and fun….even when the news is dreary, I can always count on my people to find the humour in it all.

    • bambinoitaliano

Hugs. Tell him to rest up. Don’t be exposing him with more news from JMG unless it’s some funny to entertain him that will help him recover quickly. The EU would flip it’s shit if we used a nuclear weapon.

I grew up with drills and sirens and all sorts of scare about nukes and that was the 80s. These people are old enough for the older and more terrifying!!

There is A GOOD REASON we don’t use nuclear weapons and it isn’t only environmental impact and/or it isn’t even just collateral damage.

If we’re seriously considering nuclear weapons we’ve gone far past too far.

    • Reality.Bites

Just how many A-list gays are living in the states Trump won?

      • fuow

Your Canadian is showing again. I know this was highly disputed for several months, but too many surveys confirm it – once again, yet again, millennials and lots and lots of gay men sat the election out or threw away their votes in protest.
Not even 1/3 of the eligible millennials even bothered to vote – for anyone – in the Georgia special election just a few weeks back, ditto for Montana.
I know it’s unpleasant to have to admit, but we liberals and those groups most at risk from this man have been awful at voting. It’s fact, not conjecture.
As to my ‘A-List Gays’, they’re exactly the same type of princess, whether in San Francisco or here in the wild, wild West. It’s a common type and I know you have them in Canada, too. At least in Quebec and BC.

*sigh* This looks like a repeat, but it’s actually from this morning.

Another lie from 45. Rather than caring about renovating or modernizing, the attitude of his administration regarding the U.S. nuclear arsenal has been more like indifference.

Sooo… yet another LIE from this unstable, lying, sack of ….sheeze!
    Dear Lord …make it stop!

  • Jay Squires

Geez it took me 10 montgs to renovate my house. Trump’s on overdrive. LOL

  • MBear

going right to the big distraction already?

  • Natty Enquirer

The demented ravings of a spoiled NYC tycoon used to be kind of entertaining. Now that they are coming from the White House, not so much.

  • -M-

Mr Kelly, Lock him up. Now.

  • Gerry Fisher

Yes, Donny, yes. We’re aware of your small hands. No need to make them any more obvious.

  • Twitter REALLY needs to remove Trump’s account.

  • Bad Tom

Echoing Josh Greenman, you can’t modernize a nuclear force in six months. Especially if you literally don’t know what you are doing.

    • RJ Bone

THANK YOU! You’d think that orange shitgibbon would realize by now that you have to be careful about lie magnitude.

    • BobSF_94117

Six months is barely enough time to dust the bombs, let alone modernize them.

  • SFBruce

That Trump lies all the time was well established long ago, but he’s really bad at it. Good liars make some effort to make their lies somewhat credible.

  • Halou

In order to be a powerful country, to say nothing of being THE most powerful, you first need to have power, but as a vassal of Putin’s Russian Empire that power simply does not exist.

  • JWC

someone please smash his cell phone

  • ColdCountry

I have the feeling that no one has ever called this idiot’s bluff, and also the feeling that NK is just crazy enough to do it.

    Crazy times….

  • SammySeattle

    And, he invented post-its.

  • pgarayt

There’s a lot more to ‘power’ than destruction.

  • boobert

Only idiots believe these lies .

  • Friday

Trump manages to make overwhelming force seem pathetic and insecure.

  • Tor

Wouldn’t renovation of a nuclear arsenal take years, not weeks?

  • trouble94114

Well, perhaps he did renovate and modernize our nuclear arsenal. All it would take is lot’s and lot’s of gold leaf, and faux marble, and maybe a few ‘tasteful’ pieces of Louis XV furniture.

    • kareemachan

That’s *faux* Louis XV furniture, thank you…

  • kareemachan

    1. If you believe drumpster, you might be a drumpster supporter.
    2. If you believe drumpster, you might be an idiot.
    3. Oh, I’m sorry, I repeated myself here.

  • Michael Hampton

Perhaps Trump is unaware that he put a man in charge of that renovatin’ and modernizin’ who didn’t even know he was in charge of the nukes.
