Introducing Mario Cantone As The Mooch [VIDEO]

The Daily Beast reports:

There has already been much speculation about who will play Anthony Scaramucci on Saturday Night Live this fall, assuming President Trump’s new communications director still has his job by then. But The President Show has already called dibs on Sex and the City’s Mario Cantone.

Cantone made his debut as “The Mooch” alongside Anthony Atamanuik’s Trump Thursday night. “I’d like to introduce you to my favorite new team member who I will eventually betray, Anthony Scaramucci!” the president said in the opening segment of his show.

  • Gustav2

Didn’t someone here show their pics side by side?

  • Boreal

It would be funnier if it were all a spoof and none of this were happening.

    • Tomcat

If all this was not happening we would not want to see them at all.
Making fun of them is all that is good about this.

      • Ragnar Lothbrok

I want to make fun of them while they are in jail.

Seriously, I want to fly a banner over Leavenworth or whatever that just says : LOL

        • Nowhereman

Since he’s such a Twitter fan, maybe do a few banners of his greatest tweets, like covfefe, and We and such. Hard to imagine that these tweets are official presidential records.

        • Lantor

If he can’t pardon himself, I’m sure Pence will do it 🙁

        • agcons

I’ll bet that if, when the time comes, you started a GoFundMe drive to finance this you’d meet your target in less than a day.

        • Rocco

Yes, exactly. If I could afford it, I would do it. At the rate we’re going though, I will be 101 by the time they’re in Leavenworth. Maybe a dog turd in the mail? No, that’s not explicit enough…well I do have time to think. Thanks for the chuckle…lol

          • olandp
          • Rocco

Lol, my computer skills aren’t what they should be, but is what I visualized.…lol. In the big house, Hair Furor will morph into Babs Johnson (less attractive version of course). Lol…Thank you for making my day! Lol…

    • Todd Allis

It would be too outrageous for me to find very funny.

    • Nowhereman

I agree. I want to laugh–I really do.

    • crewman

I think the SNL spoof should be to present a credible, calm, well-reasoned, professional communication director. Trump’s got the insane, cartoon, caricature covered too well.

    • Ninja0980

      Agreed.

    • metrored

I hope Mario Cantone can pull that off for his next performance.

  • KCMC
  • TK

I’m hoping SNL picks another woman

    • Snarkaholic

      Kate could do it.

      • iambu

I’d watch the hell out of that.

    • Nowhereman

That always hits Trump right where he lives. Even better, perhaps they can find a smart, strong, witty transgender woman to play Moochie. That would take him right over the top. Oh my goodness–I just remembered there is an old movie called The Death of Moochie.

      • Snarkaholic

And a transwoman to play Ivanka. Alec grabs her, and then she beats the shit out of him!

        • Nowhereman

She probably packs a solid gold, diamond-encrusted handbag.

      • Mikey

Robin Williams film called “Death to Smoochy”

        http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266452/?ref_=nv_sr_1

        • Nowhereman

          Smoochy! Now I remember.

      • Miji

I think I’d almost take the opposite tack. Trevor Noah was saying the other night how Trump likes Scaramucci because he thinks he’s like him, but that ‘Muc is actually a lot more smooth compare to the lout that Trump is. I think they could play him as slick and crass as they want, but get someone who is actually quite attractive and don’t actually really make fun of him, but play him more straight, the jealousy of the positive portrayal would just make Trump crazy with jealousy in the same way that the President Bannon comments got under his skin.
Of course if there came a need to specifically tear down ‘Muc himself, then have at him.

    • Michael R

Is it Rosie O’Donnell time ?
No Rosie Bannon still seems like a missed opportunity ,.

    • Jay George

Me too. I’m hoping they choose to cross dress all the white house staff in their satire.

  • RaygunsGoZap

HA! I would take more credit for calling this but I saw that it was a simultaneous wave across the interwebs upon the announcement

  • Publius

I’m not a big fan of “The President Show.” Don’t get me wrong, I want to laugh at DJT’s expense, but this show doesn’t do it for me. The acting seems forced. Alec Baldwin does DJT like a boss.

    • Natty Enquirer

Atamanuik does a much more accurate impression. But it has a rather rehearsed quality to it. Nice to have a change, though. I tired of Baldwin’s impression which turned into a sleepwalk toward the end.

      • Octavio

        Estamos de acuerdo. 🙂

      • Lumpy Gaga

Here’s the thing about the Comedy Central guy — he looks MORE like Trump outside in broad daylight pieces than in the controlled presentation of the studio. And the writing on SNL is not in this show’s league.

    • Ragnar Lothbrok

Right on. But this is the first I have seen of it, but I will stick with Alec.

  • ChrisInKansas

It would be funnier if it wasn’t so close to actual reality.

    • Hue-Man

Explains why I quit watching them all in January. How do you parody something that is completely ludicrous?

    • Lumpy Gaga

You probably can’t handle the coda of this episode. It was simultaneously curl-up-with-a-fifth terrifying and hilarious.

      I love this show.

      • Chucktech

I used to think that after a couple of episodes this show would become really lame. But it is surprisingly new each time, IMO.

        • Lumpy Gaga

Yup. Never thought I’d watch more than two; three, tops.

  • Ninja0980

Mario is 57,talk about good genes!

    • Octavio

And he has a big schwanzstücker.

      • Tor

        References, please?

      • Boreal

Hey you. Where you been? Welcome back.

      • Ninja0980

        Are there photos anywhere?

      • Treant

Citation requested. Er, required. Yeah, required.

      • SoCalGal20

        Hi! *waves*

        • Octavio

          😊🙃

      • PickyPecker

        Good to see you, Octavio!!

        • Octavio

          😛

  • Rebecca Gardner

I love the Cher in Moonstruck reference! Awesome!

    https://youtu.be/0x-fkSYDtUY

    • Frank McCormick

Yup. Knowing that Mario is openly gay puts a whole new spin on the “love this guy” humor. “Snap out of it” was there for a reason…

  • TrueWords
    • So is he on our side or not? From Wiki (cut and paste)
      Liberal positions:
Scaramucci has long been an advocate of liberal positions on social issues, having tweeted at various times that he has “always been for strong gun control laws”, and that “Republicans should support gay marriage”
      Criticism of Donald Trump:
In 2015 on a Fox News television appearance, Scaramucci called Trump a “hack politician” whose rhetoric is “anti-American and very, very divisive.” He further warned Trump to “cut it out now” and “stop all this crazy rhetoric.”[47] In December 2015, Scaramucci criticized Trump’s call for a border wall between Mexico and the U.S.[47] He also criticized Trump for “making a fundamental mistake of trying to blame all of Islam and all Muslims for what is the ideology and the actions of a minority.
Note from me: Says he was student president of Port Washington (Long Island) High School (In Nassau County). I know that place — a very upscale liberal Democratic area.

      • Rex

He’s on whatever side makes him more money and gets him more attention.

        • People who are money motivated really are beyond my comprehension. I understand it, I just cannot see devoting one’s life to it. Maybe that is why I will never be rich. LOL.

          • Rex

Same with me. I chose a job so I could help others, and I’m comfortable, but far from rich.

        • And power. It was clear from the day he arrived, Mooch wanted to be Chief of Staff. And my spousal unit suggested he might be angling for a future career in politics.

      • He’s a fucking self-serving ass-weasel. That he switched from criticizing Donald to compulsively fellating him daily shows Mooch never actually meant any of what he said.

        • prixator

          Then or now?

      • JCF

“So is he on our side or not?”

Seriously? Rank, back front-stabbing opportunists are NEVER on our side. Only their own.

  • Cuberly

The crass, coarse indifference he has. It’s stunning. Obama would have taken the entire family, and particularly the child in the wheelchair for a tour fer kriss sake!

    • Jerry Kott

      what a piece of shit!

    • Chucktech

Really, can you imagine Trump doing anything so endearing and human as Obama would do?

    • Rex

The contrast between Obama and Trump is like night and day.
Wait, there may be a better way to put that.

      • jerry

The difference is black and white…

      • M Jackson

        Good and evil.

    • olandp

      What a repugnant lump.

    • ohbear1957

tRump was too busy shaking the hand of the woman who had the biggest breasts. She’s wearing a b & w dress. I think he shakes her hand – twice.

    • MassageBear

No surprise whatsoever. Donny also turned his back on his brother’s grandson who requires a wheelchair for mobility due to his neurological condition (despite the fact Donny’s dad asked him to do so before his passing).

      • Cuberly

        That’s right. Forgot about that.

  • Leo
    • Chucktech

But, of course, reveled in pig-squealing delight when the Repubs in the House had their little tea party on the South Lawn after the Obamacare-repeal they shat out.

And that wasn’t even a win. Just a House vote

Mario Cantone has got to be praying that Scaramucci keeps his job.

    • Gustav2

Scaramucci will keep his job until the Treasury Dept approves the sale of his company to a Chinese firm.

      • Bryan

        Bingo!

      • Lazycrockett

The thing is He doesn’t have a job yet.

  • JWC

This would differ HOW? if the GOP had won. Just as the quardsmen didn’t celebrate when Dorthy doused the witch

  • Bryan

I don’t want Donald nipping anything in the bud.

  • At first I didn’t think I’d like Atamanuik’s ‘The President Show’ — but it’s really quite good.

  • jixter

Years ago, I watched Mario Cantone in an hour long special that I cringed all the way through, not believing that anyone could be so unaware of their own lack of humor and talent. Maybe this new gig will redeem him, somehow. I usually take it as a rule of thumb that most great acting performances are really just actors being themselves. I wish him the best.

    • Daveed_WOW

You should see him in “The Aristocrats”. He tells the joke with a Liza Minnelli voice.

  • jaydee5000

I always found Cantone to be grating and obnoxious. He’s finally found a part to fit his persona.

    • Tomcat

Then he is perfect for the role of Scuzzy mucha.

    • theonlyseven

He certainly has that manic coke-head persona. I’m not saying he does coke, but he come across as the gay Sam Kenison.

  • Daveed_WOW

SNL doesn’t start again until September. Mooch could be long gone by then.

    • Gigi

      One can hope.

  • theonlyseven

My ex was on that kids show he had back in the 90s. He said Cantone was so obnoxious, so cruel he actually had kids crying. He told one girl she could not participate in a game because she was too fat.

  • The only thing wrong with this is that there’s almost no parody. is this a spoor or Cantone’s audition for the biopic. Don’t get me wrong. He NAILED it. Scaramucci is every Italian American douchebag I ever met in an NYC bank, but he’s so over the top already, how do you parody that other than just re-enact it, which is what he does here. It’s great but we are now in an era in which reality is so hyperbolic that parody is hardly possible.

  • Lindoro Almaviva

difference is that i would not fuck The Scar with Rosie O’Donnell’s dick but I find cantone in a dark alley and the fucker will scream for hours
