Christian Activist Matt Barber Calls On Trump To Fire Every Federal Worker Who Isn’t A Right Wing Christian

Hate radio host and Christian activist Matt Barber thinks Trump should fire every government employee who is not a conservative Christian. Nabi Dressler reports at Right Wing Watch:

“The atheists, the secularists, the church-state separatists, the anti-Christian segregationists, they have infiltrated Washington, D.C., at the deepest levels,” Barber said, urging Trump to drain the swamp of “these Obama secularist, atheist and LGBT activists.”

“[Trump] needs to go in and he should be firing every single Obama hire, every Obama appointee. He should go through, and those individuals who do not support the administration’s agenda—he’s the boss, they’re under him—he should be terminating them and replacing them with, yes, Christians, yes, conservatives, with people who are going to embrace the agenda and the draining of the swamp.”

Barber is perhaps most infamous here on JMG for his loony claims that Obama lit the White House purple to mark the passing of Prince and that 100,000 people crowded into a Peruvian soccer stadium to pray for Kentucky clerk Kim Davis.

  • Todd20036

Long story short: Trump cannot do that.
And this government would grind to a halt if he could.

    • Randolph Finder

The number of people that Trump can fire is a *lot* less than he thought…

      • Gustav2

Well, it is one way to reduce the deficit!

      • Bj Lincoln

He hasn’t fill all the positions he needs to fill yet. He can’t afford to get rid of anyone. IT would be illegal for him to do it anyway.

        • Randolph Finder

There certainly are people that Trump (/any president) can fire. Anyone that a President nominates that gets approved by congress, ranging from the FBI director to Cabinet positions to ambassadors. In addition there are a number of White House positions that serve at the will of the President, for example the White House Chef.

          • Librarykid

And there are always the government witch hunts like the McCarthy hearings that got many gay men fired, but not one Communist.

          • Tom Feuhrer

I like that ‘fire the chef’. Remember when they’d bitch about Bill Clinton’s late night pizza delivery to the WH? Some folks will never be happy . . .

        • Dave F.

When has that ever stopped him? Look at all the US Attorneys fired. Preet Bahara was to prosecute Russian money laundering that Sessions just let slip.

      • Librarykid

Besides, he does not have an executive producer telling him whom he has to fire like on his fake TV program, even though this is a fake–er–fraudulent presidency.

    • Raising_Rlyeh

Considering how Barber and his ilk think they would see the government grinding to a halt as a good thing.

      • Librarykid

Barber grinding–now there is a funny word association.

    • Guest

They don’t let the facts get in the way of their fantasies.

  • AtticusP

These people are getting scarier and more unreasonable by the day.

And it’s only going to get worse if we get rid of Trump and wind up with that asswipe Pence in the White House.

    • GayOldLady

I don’t think Pence will ever be POTUS. He’s as compromised as the rest of the WH herd. We’re liable to see a blood letting in the GOP the likes of which we can’t even imagine.

      • David Walker

        Promises, promises.

        • GayOldLady

🙂 Have you seen the reporting this week on how his lawyer is dodging the questions about whether he’s had any contact with the Russian’s? Rachel has been saying for a couple of months that Pence’s denial of knowing about Flynn’s Russian contacts was unbelievable, now his lawyer won’t say whether he did or did not have contacts with Russian officials. From where I sit that means HE DID. Now the question is, WHY? That should be a really easy question to answer.

          • David Walker

Because everybody else was doing it? All the cool kids were, so he wanted to show he was cool, too.

Rachel has become Must See TV for me. The world comes to a halt at 9PM. I’m glad she’s back tonight instead of the On Location Guy. I will admit that his interview with the Russian guy who was tossed off a 4 story building was interesting, but I’m far more willing to give up Lawrence than Rachel. Plus, the former Pentagon Russia expert returns tonight.

          • GayOldLady

Yeah…..Rachel is knocking it out of the park every night. I’m glad Rachel is on tonight too. I look forward to hearing the questions Rachel asks the carryover guest tonight. She was on a roll last night when she ran out of time.

      • Richard, another Canuck

      • David L. Caster

Note that most of us were sure that Trump would never be POTUS.

        • GayOldLady

POTUS via collusion and manipulation from the Russian Government. HE’S NOT MY POTUS.

          • David L. Caster

I share your grief. Nevertheless he was elected, something we thought impossible the beginning of just last year.

  • Rex

    Trump could start with himself.

    • David Walker

All those xns who invaded his office earlier this week and laid their hands on him (ick)…he still has some of the love of Jeebus in him.

      • Rex

It was their version of “snake handling” I’m not so sure they won’t end up getting bitten eventually.

      • Librarykid

more likely there was a trace of jism, not Jebus, on their hands.

    • ted-

Any deity is capable of doing that is worthy of my praise.

  • Gerry Fisher

I never understood the far right’s love affair with fascism…until Trump’s campaign and election.

    • Buford

The fact that a significant portion of the American citizenry believes this whole Trump-Russia collusion scandal is no big deal, largely because they have been convinced that the media is biased against them… so ‘facts’ are subjective.

If that holds, anything is possible. For example, if Mueller’s investigation (hypothetically) returns a blatantly pro-Trump decision, there’s no other recourse here… aside from voting these people out of control… which is futile if half the country likes the way things are headed.

      We’re officially in ‘scary territory’.

    • Librarykid

The fascination is in forcing people’s obedience to rules of behavior, like the Mormons or Roman Catholics on the “Christian” side, but with guns and ammo from the police state. Like most religions, the people in charge are on a power trip and fascism is their upgrade.

    • Kruhn

There is a vox article on the rise of American authoritarianism. Basically the support of that authoritarian vibe is a reaction to a more multicultural America. Here’s the link.

  • DesertSun59

I’m more convinced than ever now that Right Wing Christians have a direct line to religiously dominated Russia. After all, they have missionaries that go there and they REGULARLY laud how wonderful it is that Russia has become dominated by religious fervor.

Barber is one more piece of the very large jigsaw puzzle of our gov’t having been taken over by the Russians.

    • Gustav2

And the non-believer Putin uses the Russian religious the same way the non-believer Trump tries to us the religious here.

  • Gustav2

OMG! OMG! Citizens have gotten jobs in government!

  • GayOldLady

Oh, so now they’re advocating for Christian Sharia? NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!!!!

    • Oh’behr in Minnesota

But … Christian Sharia is the Kinder and Gentler Sharia. Bwhahaha! (total snark).

    • Gustav2

As they turn more and more parts of governance over to the individual states, it will be a regional thing.

  • Boreal

So he wants the federal govt to shutdown.

    • Oh’behr in Minnesota

That is there way to shrinking government so small to kill it. (or whatever that quote is).

  • shellback

Matt, please remember your book of fairy tales. It states in no uncertain terms that gluttony is a sin. You best think before you oink.

  • Bj Lincoln

What is scarier than Matt is the amount of people who tune in and believe this shit. I used to think their audience was shrinking but I think it’s going back up because of the open hate forum the Drumpf administration has encouraged. Scared poor people are dangerous and church is often the only thing they do all week getting feed back from others and more BS/lies to add to their fear for the week. I really don’t want to see another version of the Moral Majority move into the White House. If they are not invited, like a vampire, they will support candidates that can.

  • Rex

      • Boreal

  • That_Looks_Delicious

I doubt Trump will pay any attention to these bozos, but Pence will. And Pence is doing more than measuring the drapes now; he’s hiring the cleaners already.

    • KnownDonorDad

Here’s the one silver lining with Pence: he’s not a reality TV star. He’s not worshipped by the trolletariat. He’d be judged and scrutinized like an actual politician if he were to ascend to the Presidency.

      • Boreal

That’s not much consolation with repigs controlling all branches of govt.

        • Gustav2

But we will be able to argue policy, not this BS sideshow.

          • Treant

I’m kinda six on one, half dozen on the other in this case, but on balance, I’d prefer Trump out–and no pardons being tossed around by Pence.

          • That_Looks_Delicious

Agreed. The nation and the western alliance just can’t sustain this daily barrage of insanity, incompetence, treason and corruption we have now.

          • 2guysnamedjoe

The pardons will rain down like, oh, I don’t know, something bibblickle.

      • That_Looks_Delicious

Yes, that, and apart from his bizarre, awful religious beliefs/politics, he seems to be mostly sane. Trump is really the nation playing a Russian roulette, pun intended. I don’t think Pence would start a nuclear war because he didn’t like somebody’s tweet or what somebody on CNN said about him. With Trump, the sewer’s the limit.

        • KnownDonorDad

I’m hoping Pence is less likely to start a nuclear war, but then again he might want to help Armageddon along…. Such lousy options, even when I’m trying to find positives.

          • BearEyes

does he have a hard-on for the rapture like some cultists?

          • Karl Dubhe

Yes. The question is, does he think he’s also god?

If he thinks that, he’s likely to launch. If not, then he’ll be like other religious nuts who waits for their god to kill everyone.

I really hope he’s the later kind of religious nut.

Actually, I think the only ones in the WH right now (that I’ve read) are the spokespeople Sean Spicer, Kellyanne Conway (both Catholic) and Sarah Huckabee Sanders (Baptist), Chief of Staff Reince Priebus (Greek Orthodox) and SoS Rex Tillerson (Congregationalist). But none of these people have ever made a point of discussing their religion, other than Huckabee Sanders. McMaster, Short, McGahn don’t seem to have any religious affiliation. Trump and Melania worship Mammon and scarcely even bother pretending otherwise. Jared and Ivanka are reportedly observant, but they’re Jewish. Mnuchin, Miller, Hahn and Cohn are also Jewish. Steve Bannon is just plain racist with no religious dressing on the side (interestingly, Hahn and Miller seem to be just as rabidly racist as Bannon). Like it or not, the Trump White House is probably the least Christian White House ever; certainly less than Obama’s, Clinton’s, Carter’s, either Bush’s or Reagan’s.

All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship. It is now no more that toleration is spoken of, as if it was by the indulgence of one class of people, that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights. For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection, should demean themselves as good citizens, in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.”.

Although there’s a lot of wishful thinking in his “To Bigotry No Sanction” declaration, I can’t help thinking that George Washington had a much clearer vision for what America was and is supposed to be than does this sorry mess of santorum.

This shitbird still exists? That sucks.

“…they have infiltrated Washington, D.C., at the deepest levels,”

Cuz as you all know, christianity is required for government service. Gee, why does that sound so familiar.

  • Gianni

Your head should explode, asshole! It has to be extremely difficult for one skull to contain all that right-wing, asinine, religious fervor without the strain taking its toll.

  • leastyebejudged

There’s always been a concerted effort to populate the fed with extremist Christians, there are parts of the government taken completely over by them.

  • Kira699

Isn’t it funny how NOWHERE in the Declaration or Constitution does it say that America is founded to be a Christian nation and specifies in the First Amendment the freedom of religion, or from religion. The alt right just want an excuse to hate. If you believe in god, fine…keep it to yourself, worship in your house and church. As for me, I’m an atheist, I don’t worship at all. And to people who say ‘what if you are wrong’ well two things, 1) it’s too late then and 2) what if I’m not wrong? Yes America Sharia Law, the Christian Equivalent is alive and well and encroaching on everyone’s civil liberties and basic human rights. The land of the persecuted and home of the slave.

We need to round up the christo-fascist America-hating people like this guy and Kim Davis and ship them off to a theocratic state where they can be happy.

“The atheists, the secularists, the church-state separatists, the anti-Christian segregationists, they have infiltrated Washington, D.C., at the deepest levels,”
I’m sorry idiot, but that’s exactly what are founding fathers wanted and the Constitution directs.
Had you attended, you would have learned this in 4th grade Civics.
