House Intelligence Committee Threatens Trump With Subpoena Over Claim About Taping James Comey

The New York Daily News reports:

The top Republican and Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee’s Russia probe threatened to subpoena the White House if it doesn’t give more information about whether there were recordings of meetings between President Trump and former FBI Director James Comey on Thursday.

Reps. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said the White House’s letter pointing them to Trump’s tweets that he hadn’t made any recordings himself and had “no idea” if any existed weren’t enough to satisfy their request.

“Today’s letter from the Committee makes clear that should the White House not respond fully, the Committee will consider using compulsory process to ensure a satisfactory response,” the duo wrote in a letter to the White House released Thursday afternoon.
