Catholic Cardinal Slams “False” Sexual Abuse Charges, Takes Leave From Vatican To Face Trial [VIDEO]

The Associated Press reports:

Cardinal George Pell, a top adviser to Pope Francis, took a leave of absence as the Vatican’s financial chief Thursday to fight criminal charges in his native Australia that alleged he committed sexual assault years ago.

Pell forcefully denied the accusations, denounced what he called a “relentless character assassination” in the media and said he would return to Australia to clear his name. “I repeat that I am innocent of these charges. They are false. The whole idea of sexual abuse is abhorrent to me,” he said in an appearance at the Vatican press office.

Pell, 76, is the highest-ranking Vatican official ever to be charged in the church’s long-running sexual abuse scandal, and the developments pose a new and serious obstacle for Francis in his promised “zero tolerance” policy.

Woe be unto you, motherfucker. Because there isn’t a woman on the planet, regardless of whether she’s had an abortion, that’d be the first to throw the switch if you harm a child.

      • Kruhn

It’ll be a jail sentence as our Aussie friends don’t cotton the death penalty.

    • jmax

Abortion is legal. Raping kids isn’t. So please stop making shit up. Besides, doesn’t your bible teach that all sins are equal in god’s eyes, that none is “worse” than any other?

      • JustDucky

Abortion isn’t even a sin according to their Bible. The Bible treats death of a fetus as a property loss (Exodus 21:22-25) and states that life begins at first breath (Genesis 2:7) so Christians have used Genesis 38:8-10 to justify their anti-abortion (and anti-birth control) rhetoric instead. But that passage from Genesis is explicitly about levirate marriage. It has nothing to do with abortion or contraception.

As usual, it has nothing to do with scripture and everything to do with control and animus.

The Pope will have such a hard time with this, like when he sentenced a priest who raped 5 boys to a lifetime of prayer as punishment.

Every time I’m tempted to joke about this, I think of the stories just from my area of men and women abused as children by folks in the church who then had to watch as the crimes were covered up.
Fuck this POS, the folks who covered his crimes up and how they go after our community with the think of the children crap when they have done nothing and will continue to do nothing to protect children from sexual predators in their midst.

    • sword

I confronted my conservative Catholic relatives when their Archbishop and other priests were accused of molesting many young boys. They were not really troubled about it…it was sort of expected and not thought more of. The same reaction they have about Trump. They may be evil guys…but they are “our evil guys”.

      • Skeptical_Inquirer

Wow, that’s really disgusting. I bet they’re blase because it wasn’t their kids who got raped.

  • Chucktech

Innocent, are you? Fine, prove it. But your science-denying, pedo-enabling cult is demonstrably guilty of these crimes.

And regardless of your personal guilt or innocence, you and your cult are deplorable and a despicable anachronism that western civilization is eschewing.

  • shellback

So, out of hundreds of thousands of priests, the evil media just picked your name out of a hat for no good reason. Now really, does that sound credible?

        • Jonathan Smith

unfortunately, only the two that came forward.

        • Ranger One

People are wrongly accused and convicted. I’m not sure what this accusation is. Molestation at a public pool in broad daylight? Just saying, let’s have facts and a fair trial. Could be very substantial. We just have to know.

      • ChrisMorley

The police have not yet disclosed any details of the offences he’s been charged with.
“Cardinal Pell is facing multiple charges … and there are multiple
complainants,” Victoria police’s deputy commissioner Shane Patton said. The charges were “historical sexual assault offences”.

‘Multiple charges’ and ‘multiple complainants’ tells us there are more than two complainants.

‘Complaints were previously made to police relating to alleged sexual assaults in Ballarat between 1976 and 1980 and in East Melbourne between 1996 and 2001.’

A magistrate will decide next week whether to release the details and the nature of the charges. A hearing will take place on July 6.’

What??? He’s actually returning to Australia to face charges? Cardinals don’t do that!!!…they run to the Vatican or hide there!

  • Dejerrity

Once again the catholic priests will circle the wagons to protect their own. He will never leave the Vatican again because he knows the evidence will doom him.

The entire church should be prosecuted under the RICO statutes.

And this is the church that condemns me for being gay. At least I never had to molest a child to get my rocks off.

  • Jonathan Smith

see, now I’m confused. is this excuse dRumps canard “FAKE NEWS”
or Bill Clintons: (to paraphrase) “I did not have sex with that young, nubile pre-pubescent boy, just don’t find the blue speedo.”

  • Johnny Wyeknot

He finds the idea of “sexual abuse” abhorrent. But what about “sexual assault?” That’s what he’s charged with. And in any event, what’s his definition of sexual abuse or assault?

    • Karl Dubhe

It’s in Australia, so the laws they’re using are going to have different names. But be about nearly the same thing.

In Canada what is now called “sexual assault” includes crimes that used to be called rape as well as other sexual crimes that don’t include what used to be called rape.

The Cardinal’s definition of sexual abuse, assault, god or the price of tea in China is of no value. 🙂

      • Johnny Wyeknot

Yes, ultimately. I wonder if he will actually go. I BET HE retires and stays put.

All this time I thought the Catholic organization is in the business for money. The amount of sexual abuses in that institution should no longer be seen as a perk for its employees. And who are the pimps that continue to supply these kids up as sex slaves? If majority of these suppliers are parents, should they not be culpable of criminal charges? Social workers removing children from household for less damning reasons than that.

  • Todd20036

What gets me is that even today, there are STILL parents who are willing to leave their children with these freaks.

As much as my high school principal was a POS, when he was FINALLY confronted by law enforcement for his abhorrent deeds, at least he did the decent thing, he admitted everything in order to save the victims the horror of a trial.

Pell is #3 at the Vatican, the Melbourne police and public prosecutor know their jobs will be on the line if they cannot make this case stick. Come on, George, confession…it’s good for the soul.

The only thing false is the Catholic pedophile cult that rapes and molest children and others in the name of god. While raping money from the parents of the children they rape and abuse.
