INDIANA: 700+ “Saved By Trump” Jobs Head To Mexico

The New York Daily News reports:

More than 700 jobs that President Trump claimed to have “saved” at a Carrier air conditioner plant in Indiana are going to Mexico — and layoffs at the plant begin next month. Trump turned the woes at Carrier’s heating-and-air conditioning plant into a victory lap for himself and then Indiana Gov. Mike Pence after the Nov. 8 election.

Billing it as heroic intervention to save good jobs — a harbinger of things to come under his leadership — Trump and Pence toured the plant and trumpeted $7 million in incentives for Carrier that would keep most of its factory workers in America.

Trump had also taken credit for getting a promise from United Technologies to invest $16 million into the Indianapolis plant. But that money is actually going toward more automation — which will result in fewer jobs, CNBC noted.

Dumb ass Trumpanzees rejoice! You have lost your jobs! Happy now?

    • Jonathan Smith

no. not untill they lose their food stamps, insurance and climate. then, at least we did’nt vote Deomcratic.

      • Tomcat

As long as they have their Oxy contin they are just fine.

        • Jonathan Smith

how are they going to pay for it with no medical insurance?

        • Clive Johnson

Take your guvmint hands off my meth lab!

        • Xiao Ai: The Social Gadfly

They’ll change their tune once they head to jail for theft or fraud just to afford their fix.

      • Nychta

And we still have our guns.

        • Jonathan Smith

          and coal.

        • Xiao Ai: The Social Gadfly

          I read that as “gums”.

          • Nychta

Don’t discount gums, LOL. My grandfather had no teeth but he had gums of steel. He chowed down at Thanksgiving with the rest of us. He lived long and prospered. I still miss him.

  • oops…mah bad….

  • Stogiebear

    “Oops.”

  • safari

Trump and Pence toured the plant and trumpeted $7 million in incentives

Look. I’m from the rust belt. Here’s the deal. The “incentives” lead to declining revenue and a fight nationwide to see how much every corporation can get away with not paying to locate their business in an area — which ultimately ends up costing more government money than the few jobs they bring are worth.

Stop using jobs as a measure. Stop it. Look at it holistically.

    • Cackalaquiano

      Bingo. Studies prove this.

  • ccc

    Gullible people in denial…

  • Tomcat

They said thanks for the extra money trump and Pence, but adios.

  • Jonathan Smith

    sooooooo. tired of winning.
well, he got THAT part right.

  • Tomcat

That is NOTHING compared to the lost medical field jobs when healthcare is destroyed in America.

    • clay

Thank God we still have coal!

  • Tomcat

They are making a run for the border.

          His voice…

          • cleos_mom

Especially when he tries to sound compassionate and sincere: makes some breathy sounds, lowers the volume a few decibels and
            speaks.
            very.
            slowly.

          • Cattleya1

Kind of a fat, stupid Lord Voldemort.

  • Treant

Yeah, there’s a huge shocker. Liar lies, jobs disappear. Probably so the employer doesn’t have to deal with the liar.

    • zhera

      You new avatar is stunning!

      • Treant

Thanks! It’s a Duet dahlia, the first of which just started to bloom yesterday.

Wait until the Thomas A. Edison, Jennifer’s Wedding and Procyon bloom. They’re more flashy, but less classy. 🙂 I also have Sun Lady and Blue Boy, which are nice cutting dahlia.

        • Jonathan Smith

and i barely have time to mow my lawn…….

          • Treant

Then you have time to grow dahlia. They’re trivially easy; plant in sun, water if they get really dry.

Producing competition-grade blooms is hard, of course, but most people don’t care about that.

          • Jonathan Smith

You haven’t met my dog. 🙂

          • Treant

Tomato cages. Which they need anyway due to their height. 🙂

          • Jonathan Smith

You’re the expert. Minimum care, maximum damage control, vines. I’m thinking vines.
Help me Obi-Wan Tent……you’re my only hope

          • Treant

Minimal care, maximum control, vines…easy. Most flowering vines are full sun, but will tolerate some shade.

Climbing nasturtium is an annual vine, absolutely gorgeous, with edible blooms (they’re peppery and sweet at the same time). These are great because they’re not invasive, and even if they were, winter would take them out for you. They’re visually stunning.

Clematis, although their roots do prefer either some mulching or shade. They’re non-invasive and feature tons of options in various sizes and colors. I’m a fan of Jackmanii, but that does get rather tall. Some are once and done bloomers, some bloom through the season. Jackmanii is a repeat bloomer.

Morning glory requires no care, it’s an annual, but can be a bit invasive and seeds out easily.

Trumpet vine used to be invasive, but the newer ones are far less bothersome! These attract every hummingbird within miles.

Wisteria is nice, but it’ll go sixty feet if you let it, and it’s a spring bloomer only.

Honeysuckle is extremely invasive, so I tend not to recommend it. Some of the newer cultivars aren’t that bad, though, and the colors these days are rather pretty.

          • Reality.Bites

            I only eat free-run tomatoes. 😉

          • Treant

I gotta remember that one. 🙂

          • CB

When I lived in CT and had a garden, I loved my Dahlias! Agapanthus, too. Hard in that climate.

    Next on the Trump agenda:

Reopen all US based VCR factories and Jane Fonda Workout Centers.

Let’s put America back to work, people!

  • Blake J Butler

Tried to warn you, but you gave him a chance still, and in the end you still got nothing.

But hey, fuck the Mexicans that “took” your jobs, not old, rich, white assholes that sold your jobs overseas for cheaper labor, and/or employed in a dying industry that is on its way out, no matter the lifeline it receives…… ahem… coal..

  • ceeenbee

I hope that all the shitgibboners who voted for the fraud because they though their shared racism and homophobia were more important than their jobs or healthcare don’ get heat stroke waiting for their unemployment checks.

    • zhera

Checks? You think they should get checks? Those lazy moochers should get a job!

      • yep. time to try out those boot straps.

Eons ago I lived in Madison, WI. In the nearby village of Spring Green was an outdoor Shakespeare theater. Spent a number of happy nights there listening to the bard beneath the stars.

And not one tear will be shed for those workers who fell for 45’s lies. Let them suffer the consequences of their choice. I just don’t care anymore.

    • billbear1961

They deserve–DESERVE–every misery that will befall them.

That is the PRICE of willful IGNORANCE and bloody-minded HATRED.

If not for all the DECENT people who did what they could to PREVENT this, I would sit back and ENJOY the SELF-destruction of these DEPLORABLES.

They’ve got it coming–they did this to THEMSELVES.

      • Jonathan Smith

But they did it to us too. Fuckers

        • Jean-Marc in Canada

Sad part is, it wasn’t just 45 supporters, there are others equally to blame though you’ll never here them admit to their part in it.

          • cleos_mom

That would include the Bernsteins. You can still spot flocks of them here and there if you watch the side of the road closely.

    So Indiana

But I do not think the rest of us deserved it.

      • cleos_mom

Nevertheless, if you voted for Clinton in November you have a right to schadenfreude.

  • Keith

trump simply does not understand the modern economy. He has never produced any plan to achieve his promises. It is a sad con.

  • billbear1961

    It’s only getting started.

This lunatic will bring the same chaos to the economy he’s introducing everywhere else.

But, by all means, pundit “class,” let’s keep pretending this pathological LIAR and FOOL and his deplorable henchmen–and the rampaging GOP–don’t pose a SERIOUS threat to the well-being of this nation, and WORLD.

  • Halou

It is only going to get worse when, after Trump’s coal powered fanaticism sets in, America ends up needing to import Chinese and European renewable energy technologies. And don’t think they’ll be setting up shop inside the US to produce these things, after Trump’s bullshitting about German car manufacturing much of which is done inside the US, America will be sending a lot more money out of the country for it to be shipped in.

  • LesbianTippingHabits

Let’s just hope that Fox News joins CNN etc. with live coverage.

    • Jonathan Smith

Not holding my breath. “dRump SAVES 300 jobs in the US from going to Mexico:

Can they ship Victoria Jackson to Mexico too, and maybe Chuck Norris, Scott Baio, Ted Nugent and the rest off them too?

    • Jonathan Smith

Do you WANT Mexico to build that wall, and charge us?

Barely 6 months and he’s already running out of rabbits to pull from his hat. Soon enough all the mention of Hillary is going to get old, as well as Pres Obama. If he does get impeached (and I doubt he will), he certainly won’t be looking at a second term.

    • Jonathan Smith

Sooner? It was old 8 YEARS ago

    • Rambie

I hope you’re right, but few thought GW would get a 2nd term.

Then governor Pence because even that short reprieve was bought by Pence using Indiana taxpayers’ money, if he’d resigned from the governorship before then he couldn’t have bribed Carrier for the phony optics.

I’d buy a product built outside of the US if I knew it would take away jobs from Trump supporters. Accelerate the inevitable.

  • M Jackson

Good. The GOP sold our country based on the lie of those Carrier jobs. Now let that 700 Club turn to the govt. safety net only to find that they have destroyed it.
