Brian Brown Laughably Blames Humiliating Hate March Attendance On “Delays In Issuance Of Local Permits”

Via email from hate group leader Brian Brown:

Last Saturday was the 2017 March for Marriage. We had a great event, albeit a smaller crowd than in past years due to insufficient time to promote the event caused by delays in the issuance of local permits. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the presence of many great leaders in the marriage and life movements and committed supporters who came from as far away as California.

This year’s March for Marriage was co-sponsored by Freedom’s Journal Institute, and we enjoyed the presence of several of their top officials, all leaders in the African American community. We are grateful for the energy and commitment of those who attended and look forward to an even larger event next year.

Again, we are very grateful for all the support that NOM’s members have shown us over these past few weeks during the Spring Matching Campaign. While it is disappointing that we came up a little short of our goal, the fact that so many responded shows that the American people are still in the fight for marriage, and are ready to not only support our efforts to restore marriage to our nation’s laws, but to help us protect religious liberty and fight for the truth of gender. God bless you for everything you’ve done to stand for marriage, and with NOM.

As I reported over the weekend, attendance at the hate march was a laughable and humiliating 47. Including babies.

You gotta wonder what goes though Brown’s head, how he justifies continuing this bullshit, does he really think he’s some sort of messenger from God ?

    • Hue-Man

Which one(s)? There are more gods than people who showed up at the Brown Hate-Fest!

    • swimboy

Well, each of those 47 people bought him a Big Mac. Nothing’s going to change until that stops.

        • Jonathan Smith

“NOM’s IRS 990 tax forms for 2011, the most recent available, show that Brian Brown was paid $230,000 in salary plus almost $24,000 in benefits from National Organization for Marriage Inc, plus another $230,000 in salary and another $24,000 in benefits from National Organization for Marriage Education Fund.”
He’s got to get paid don’t ‘cha know?

          • david fairfield

Aw, too bad he lost the fight to keep his financial information private. Really, too bad.

          • Jonathan Smith

            I’m heartbroken…….oh, who am I kidding?

          • Tawreos

As of 2015 he made $165,754.00 from NOM and nothing from the Education fund. A $300,00.00 pay cut will crank the begging knob up to 11.

What else does he know how to do besides promoting hatred and discrimination that would enable him to earn that kind of money legitimately?

      • leastyebejudged

it IS a lotta monaye. Makes you wonder what else people are doing just for the monaye.

    • Paula

I can’t recall ever riding on an airplane with square windows.

      • safari

There’s a reason for that. An airframe in the early ’60s did have square windows. Fatigue fractures formed at the corners resulting in three craft losses.

        • safari
        • david fairfield

I did not know that! Thank you for my something new today!

        • Strepsi

safari, you know the oddest things! smooches 😘

        • Kruhn

You’re right. The original DeHavilland Comet (the first commercial jet airplane). The first model of the plane had square windows because planes had had them before. Because this plane flew at higher altitudes, it required a constant cycle of pressurization and depressurization. After a series of crashes, the last being a flight from Rome to Cairo that mysteriously crashed over the Mediterranean, the British Aircraft Accident Investigation Branch grounded all Comets and ran a thorough investigation that included putting a Comet in a specially built pool and after simulating about 3000 flight cycles the metal at the edges of the square showed signs of metal fatigue.

The reason the windows on the Twilight Zone are square is because that is a piston engine plane that flew at lower altitudes and thus, did not require to pressurize the cabin.

  • safari

Brian — it’s supposedly your “annual” march. I’m sure you grifted over it for months.

  • Do Something Nice

I though of Brian Brown while reading this today:

Why Do All These Homosexuals Keep Sucking My Cock?

I always liked “Casual One-Nighter Gives Strom Thurmond Change Of Heart On Gay Issue” http://www.theonion.com/article/casual-one-nighter-gives-strom-thurmond-change-of–904

Though reluctant to discuss more personal, intimate details of the encounter, Thurmond did say that “you have not lived until you have brought another man to climax using only your lips and tongue.”

      • Do Something Nice

The last paragraph in the Onion article is classic: “I swear, if these homosexuals don’t take a hint and quit sucking my cock all the time, I’m going to have to resort to drastic measures–like maybe pinning them down to the cement floor of the loading dock with my powerful forearms and working my cock all the way up their butt so they understand loud and clear just how much I disapprove of their unwelcome advances. I mean, you can’t get much more direct than that.”

      • RaygunsGoZap

Not gay themed but this is my personal favorite. I have printed it out and changed the wording to reflect fuckery at one work place. Leaving a copy of that in everyone’s mailbox was a lot of fun.

On July 10, 2007, Dick and former Newsradio costar Jon Lovitz got into a physical confrontation at The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles [with Andy Dick]. The two had several previous disagreements concerning the death of their mutual friend Phil Hartman. According to Lovitz, Dick had given Hartman’s wife Brynn cocaine at a Christmas party at Hartman’s house in 1997; Brynn, a recovering addict, fell back into drug use, culminating in her killing Hartman and herself on May 28, 1998. When Lovitz joined the cast of Newsradio as Hartman’s replacement, he and Dick got into an argument in which Lovitz said, “I wouldn’t be here if you hadn’t given Brynn coke in the first place.” Lovitz eventually apologized to Dick for the remark.[49] In early 2007, Dick approached Lovitz at a restaurant and said “I put the Phil Hartman hex on you—you’re the next to die.”[50] At the Laugh Factory, Lovitz demanded an apology from Dick, who refused and accused the comic of blaming him for Hartman’s death. Lovitz then smashed Dick’s head into the bar

        • david fairfield

Slightly off topic, I hit the local thrift stores at least twice weekly, and there is a growing proliferation of christian propaganda books and bibles in the book section, which says to me that all those folks who picked up a copy of The Happy Christian (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) for the purpose of improving their miserable lives and then kept it for years with the intention of reading it finally tossed it in the donation bin. They should have taken the extra three steps to the trash bin, nobody’s buying them…..

          • RoFaWh

Look on the back of the title page for printing date.

Something that a lot of people forget, a lot of what’s in thrift stores is dead people’s former stuff. Family comes in, steals everything of value, then sends the rest off to a thift store: old men’s clothing; totally unstylish furniture; kitchen gadgetry; basement workshop tools; gardening implements; and so on.

I notice at our local Value Village two things of interest: the stuff is generally thirty-forty years old, judging from the appearance of things I once owned new. And things seem to come in waves. In the course of two years, a handful of strange hand eggbeaters that turn out to be very useful. Never before, and never since.

          • Menergy

“Value Village” — now that brought back a forgotten thrift store name from my younger days…..:)

47 people means that NOM could not even get the paid employees of anti-gay organizations in Washington DC to attend his rally. If the staffs at FRC and Concerned Women for America and Heritage had been given a long lunch and told to attend the rally, Brown would have had a few hundred people — even if no one else attended. How bad is it when you can’t even get the paid drones in allied organizations to walk a few blocks and attend your rally for an hour?

On a side note, I believe this is the first time they have ever failed to hit a fundraising goal (or at least admitted to it). In past years they had no trouble making $1 million goals. I’m going to predict that when the time comes for them to release their 990s from 2016 and 2017, they will show even steeper declines in revenue. I wouldn’t at all be surprised if they merge with The World Congress of Families or a similar organization by the end of the decade.

He’ll pack up his road show and take it to other countries that are pushing for marriage equality.

    • -M-

He has been diversifying their portfolio of bigotry. They used to claim the ‘National Organization for Marriage’ was focused solely on the single issue of “protecting” “marriage” from same-sex couples having the same legal rights and tools to provide for their families as everyone else. Now they’re worried about Christianists’ “religious liberty” to discriminate against people they disagree with and protecting “gender” from transsexual people.

  • Franciscan

If they were to approach Trump nicely, he’d probably be willing to tweet that thousands were in attendance.

  • gothambear

  • Kruhn

As part of the DC Pride organizing committee, once you’ve held an event, as long as you submit the paperwork on time, you’ll get scheduled for the monthly hearing to get the permits. If the event took place in the National Mall, then you go through the National Parks Service, whose process is longer, but Brian should’ve been aware of it as he’s held the event for a few years.

So don’t blame DC for your incompetent stupidity. You either submitted the permits late or more likely, no one is buying what you’re selling, Brian.
