Trump Again Attacks Georgia’s Jon Ossoff

Somebody is very worried:

President Trump on Monday called out Democrat Jon Ossoff for living outside of the sixth Congressional district in Georgia where he is running for a House seat. Trump鈥檚 criticism of Ossoff comes on the eve of the closely watched special election in Georgia to fill the seat vacated by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price. The president in his first draft of the tweet misspelled Handel鈥檚 last name.

  • Do Something Nice

    Wants to kill heathcare!

    • Gustav2

….because Democrats have been trying to kill healthcare since the Great Society!

    • Pot meet kettle! What a whacked out view he has. How is the GOP supposedly ‘saving’ health care, but the dems are going to kill it? Ohhh, right…that whole rich folks giant tax breaky thing. I forget in the Land of Health Insurance ’tis always opposite day with the GOP.

  • Lazycrockett

Spelling correctly might make your base think you’re smart and he doesn’t want that.

    • Droz

They don’t take too kindly for all that book learnin’ ’round them there parts.

  • Bryan

Hey Trump, you been hatin’ on theatre right? I gots a play you needs to see: it’s called Pippin.

    • Anastasia Beaverhousen

“Morning glow by your light, we can make the new day bright,
and the phantoms of the night, will fade into the past… morning glow is here at last!” (thanks for the obscure reference, let’s hope he doesn’t get a second chance like Charlemagne did.

      • Bryan

Confession time: I accidentally made a Smart right there, I was going for an obscure “Immolate yourself” joke.

  • Sam_Handwich

Hasn’t Karen Lardass spent her whole campaign trying to pretend Trump doesn’t exist?

    • Lazycrockett

      Pretty much.

      • Ninja0980

Yup and Trump just took a wrecking ball to that.

    • Cuberly

Yeah, but now she’s done a 360 and supposedly embraces him. Maybe his numbers are better in an affluent GA district.

      • zhera

Also, the shooting of Scalice and others made it OK for the christers to like Donnie again. Because guns.

    • mark99k

Yeah, and she might want to google ‘kiss of death’ right about now.

  • Mikey

That’s ok, Trump didn’t live in the same universe as the country he wanted to lead.

    • Southeast PDXer

I just tweeted that same thing to the orange idiot. 馃檪

  • zhera

I hope Ossoff wins. Obviously because he’s Dem, but also because then Donnie will regret appointing Tom Price as HHS Secretary.

    Karma: It’s delicious.

    • Gustav2

      Trump never ever regrets anything.

      • zhera

I bet he regrets paying Russian whores to pee on a hotel bed.

Yet still nothing about the brutal hate crime and murder of the young woman in VA yesterday morning..

He’s awaiting verification that she’s in the country legally before he’ll acknowledge that she may have been a fellow human being.

      • Skokieguy [Larry]

I wonder if that and other violent attacks against Muslims that did not generate the same WH statements as other similar crimes can be used to help prove religious-based animus if / when Trump’s travel ban hits SCOTUS?

    • Skokieguy [Larry]

Which makes clear that the lives of those defending our country are worth far less than the Congressmen that send them to fight and risk their lives.

He flew to the fucking hospital to deliver flowers to Scalise, but this is how many days since the crash? Soulless deranged bastard.

      • He fucking flew to the hospital to deliver a idiot bouquet of flowers? But has he shown up on the doorsteps of the 7 dead service men’s family? Or sent a card? Or more stupid flowers?

        • Skokieguy [Larry]

It took him almost a week to acknowledge their death – with a fucking tweet. Remember tweets that KellyAnne says we pay too much attention to, that should be taken too seriously. Fuck Trump and the horse he road in on – maybe Putin has videos of that too.

      • zhera

He prefers sailors who don’t die.

        • dagobarbz, fine Italian shoes

But, dead sailors don’t become veterans who need services.

    • Lazycrockett

But he was right on that London attack. Hasn’t said a word bout the muslims getting ran over by a van yesterday.

  • BJORN RAGNVALDR
    • Skokieguy [Larry]

Rest in peace. It sounds harsh to say, but it sounds like the brain damage he suffered was so extensive that there was no hope of a “recovery.” This is a release. If that happened to me, I’d hope that my loved ones would be wiling to release whatever is left of my personality/soul/whatever from its shell and not keep me in a vegetative state for years and years out of sentimentality.

      • Lazycrockett

He didn’t have a chance. I think the family just turned off the machine and let him go.

        • meltedrubbersoul

And it must have been heart-wrenching to do so. I know it is so much easier said than done, especially since it wasn’t my son.

Karen Handel tells mom of lesbian: 鈥楳y faith calls me鈥 to stop your daughter from adopting a child

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cDIqMWaD7g

    • Ninja0980

Ironically enough, she was attacked in the past for supposedly being too LGBT friendly.
Guess she decided to go full anti-LGBT for power.

    • zhera

“Not my fault! Take it up with the Big Guy!”

    • Lazycrockett

Hey tomorrow is Tuesday. See ya then.

    • lattebud

Your ‘faith’ tells you to care for those less fortunate, not be in leadership roles as a woman and feed the hungry. It doesn’t say anything about qualified lesbians being parents.

      • Buford

Gosh. How lucky that Handel was able to find a ‘faith’ that, coincidentally, just happens to irrationally hate the same things that she hates. She is truly blessed! /s

    • Skokieguy [Larry]

And what if my faith calls me to punch Karen in the face (not calling for violence, just a hypothetical). The bible in many places calls for violence and murder, so why should religious freedom trump any existing law?

    • I know this issue matters to us, but does it matter to the typical GA6 voter? Especially the ones that might not be sure how they are going to vote? Is this what we should be talking about this close to the election?

    • nocadrummer

If I were Orthodox, I wouldn’t be allowed to eat pork. That doesn’t give me the right to stop you from eating pork.
If I were Hindu, I wouldn’t eat (bovine) beef . That doesn’t give me the right to stop you from eating beef.
If I were atheist, I wouldn’t worship some sky-god. That doesn’t give me the right to stop you doing so.
The fact that you follow specific religious tenets doesn’t give you the right to force those on others.

      • see, i’ve lost patience. i don’t like to watch the sick suffer. similarly, i don’t like living in a society where this particular delusion is allowed to shape policy that affects my life.

the atheist position is the correct one and i’m tired of being told i’m presumptuous, ignorant, close minded and unimaginative for saying so. i love the idea of divine beings and have played a lot of games and read many books on the subject.

but i should have the right to demand more education, and fewer legal and financial privs for the mythology pushers. it’s organized scam religions that are hurting all of us. i do want to attack them with taxes and fines for lying and things like that.

i am a radical but i know that eventually most people are going to agree with me, or once again religion will crash a mess of society, in the name of nothing that actually exists.

        • dagobarbz, fine Italian shoes

I had a thumper tell me he was a better person than me yesterday.

Lectured him on how that sort of attitude is precisely why people are leaving his religious superstition in droves.

    • fkevin

But she’s a woman. Shouldn’t her faith keep her out of the government and behind men?

    • Oscarlating Wildely

Hell is too good of a place for her ilk and all that believe like her. But without a better option: burn bitch, burn.

    • That should disqualify her from holding any public office in this country.

  • bkmn

If Handel loses it is a big warning to the rest of the GOP that Trump is a heavy anchor around their necks. Hope Ossoff wins.

Funny, I don’t recall the Devos family, Koch Brothers or the RNC, RCCC etc. being from Georgia either and yet they’ve all donated to Karen Handel.
Funny how he and other Republicans won’t mention that.

    • SFBruce

He also doesn’t mention the fact that this is most expensive house race in our country’s history, with Handel raising big bucks, and not all of it by George voters. A Ryan backed PAC has thrown 7 million her way, and the House campaign committee around 4.5 million.

    • SoCalGal20

      WHATEVER IT TAKES, ASSHOLE.

    • BobSF_94117

How can it possibly be true that only 808 GA Democrats have given him money?

      • Tom Mears

It’s not. He has over 52,000 donors. Only larger donations ($>200) are required to provide state and address information to the candidates. The >$200 donors also includes PACs, corporations, and the folks who can afford the $2700 maximum individual donation.

As of the end of May, the FEC showed Ossoff with about $23m in donations. $8m of that were large enough to trigger the address disclosure, the other $15m were too small. Half of those, $7m, were from ActBlue which is a crowdsourcing group that bundles very small individual contributions for Democratic candidates.

This is an example of someone cherry picking the data to make a bogus claim that the rubes will never bother to check on. “I saw it on Fox News, it must be true” There is simply no way to even verify the truth of the 808 number, because we don’t know whose ass it was pulled out of.

What is there on Ryan? Just a reminder, he’d be far worse (standing on that keg reciting Rand) than what we have. And I’m loathe to type it….

  • Buford

I’ll ask the obvious… how is this shit even legal? I know the POTUS can promote a candidate in an election, but how is it OK for a POTUS to instead slander the opposition candidate…??!?

    We are so doomed.

    • Todd20036

It’s not. It breaks the Hatch Act, but IOKIYAR

      • Buford

Not true. The President, VP, and certain other executive branch folks are exempt from the Hatch Act. That’s my point – the president can legally campaign on behalf of a political candidate, but this is not what Trump is doing. Trump is actively slandering the opposition candidate… how in hell is that legal?

  • M Jackson

Lordy, I have got to get Soros to fly me into Georgia tonight so I can vote for Ossoff tomorrow as many times as possible.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

yes and busloads of illegal immigrants need to vote too!

      • M Jackson

Might as well be the first time for that to happen.

Trump only won GA06 by 3 points over Hillary, so his support is not overwhelming there.

  • Halou

Here’s to hoping Trump wont be able to vote for himself in 2020 because he will be living in a prison cell.

  • Gregory Mullins

Can he be any more myopic. . .Ossoff has been up front about the fact the he personally lives just a mile outside of the district, but that his parents and family still live in the district, and once his girlfriend finishes her medically training (which is why he’s currently just outside the district as he’s supporting her career plans as well), they will move back down the street into the district.

    • Stephen Elliot Phillips

Handel isnt even from atlanta, right? ossof is native to town

      • Gregory Mullins

Ossof is a native of the 6th district, even interned w/ John Lewis in HS. Ossof has a master’s degree.

Handel born in DC, went to college in Maryland, but never finished and looks like didn’t even show up on Georgia political scene until early 2000’s when she’s President/CEO of Greater Fulton Chamber of Commerce.

  • I can’t imagine that this is helping Handel.

Also, is his tweet even true? Ossoff can’t vote in his own district?

    • Blake J Butler

If so, then how the hell could he even run for the district against her. My guess is like a mounting list of other things. He is LYING!!!!!!

    • SoCalGal20

It’s true. And he’s not required to. He literally lives like a mile outside the district while his girlfriend is going to medical school and a bunch of his family lives in the district and he grew up there..

I found this CNN article from April after the first round.

It’s worth noting here that a member of Congress doesn’t have to live in the district they represent. Under federal law, you only have to live in the same state. In fact, as the Los Angeles Times documented in 2015, there are at least five California House members who don’t live in the district they now represent in Congress.

      http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/19/politics/jon-ossoff-karen-handel-georgia/index.html

    • He was born there. Handel is a Yankee.

  • SoCalGal20
