REPORT: Trump Called Roger Stone After Firing James Comey Then Lied About Having Called Roger Stone

The New Yorker reports:

On May 11th Roger Stone, Donald Trump’s on-again, off-again political adviser for several decades, had just wrapped up a pair of morning television appearances when, according to two sources with direct knowledge, he received a call from the President.

Just a night earlier, Trump claimed that he was no longer in touch with Stone. In the weeks and months ahead, the relationship between Trump and Stone is expected to be a significant focus of investigators, and their call raises an important question: Why is the President still reaching out to figures in the middle of the Russia investigations?

Previous reports have noted that Trump has also been in touch with Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn, two figures targeted by the F.B.I.’s Russia probe. Add Stone to the list of former top Trump aides who, despite being under investigation, are still winning attention from the President.

There’s SO much more at the link. Read it. Below is today’s hosting spot by Stone for InfoWars.

All of that Roy Cohn training Trump got was totally wasted.

    • Judas Peckerwood

Seriously, these days Roy must be finding that an eternity in hell feels even longer.

  • safari

As I posted earlier, even Donald’s lawyers won’t meet with him except in pairs because he lies so much. Lying is second nature to him. As for why — they stroked his ego and now they are BFFs.

    • Pollos Hermanos

Read this story and you’ll understand just how Trump works.

He’s going to end up totally fucked.

      • LesbianTippingHabits

During the campaign, I seriously looked with an open mind for anyone who had previously engaged with Donald Trump [e.g., worked for him, supplier, contractor, condo buyer], who was no longer engaged with him, and who would engage with him again in the future.

With the possible exception of the WWE executive, Linda McMahon, nominated to head the Small Business Administration,
        I found No One.

Seriously. So this is no surprise.

Not to mention, of course, Donald Trump’s [non-]tipping habits.

        Just like you-know-who’s. Thank you.

  • Lars Littlefield

This is what’s cooking for dinner. It really is good, even if you don’t like fish eggs. I’m making this for dinner because we have at least two bottles of good champagne left over from the weekend.

    Vermicelli with white vodka sauce
1⁄2 lb vermicelli (angel hair pasta)
    6 tablespoons butter
    6 shallots, finely chopped
    2 cups half and half
    1⁄2 cup vodka
    1⁄4 cup snipped fresh chives
4 ounces lump fish or sevruga black caviar

    Directions
Melt 4 tblsps butter in large skillet over medium heat.
Add shallots and stir 3 minutes.
Whisk in cream and vodka and bring up heat to thicken (about 4 minutes)
Remove from heat and stir in 4 oz of the caviar.

Add drained vermicelli and toss until heated through.

Serve on warm plate. Sprinkle with chives and top with more caviar. If you need grated cheese add grated cheese on top to taste.

NOTE: So, you really hate caviar? You can pretty much follow the same recipe by replacing the caviar with flaked cooked salmon adding a couple of tablespoons of tomato paste (in the tube) to the sauce. You end up with a fragarant pink vodka sauce.

      • gaymex1

        Yes, what’s the nearest airport?

        • shellback

Airport? What’s that? I live in the middle of nowhere. If you can ride a horse, you may be able to find me.

          • Lars Littlefield

Grand Junction is the closest commercial airport. It’s about 135+ miles away. Moab has a little municipal airport. Flying over Canyon Lands and Arches is quite lovely. Winds are a bit rough, but hey.

          • gaymex1

Crap…gonna be hard to make it tonight. In the future your friends on JMG would appreciate at least a couple of days notice.
Connections can be difficult and layovers time consuming in Mexico City.
It does sound like a great meal. Enjoy.

Next extended weekend event (lots of room for tent camping) will be July 4th. Bunky Boy will bring his zither and others are welcome to bring their guitars. Starry nights of big open skies, cedar wood campfires (so you smell nice the next day) and swimming in the trout pond. Lots of hiking. Nude hide and seek among the red rocks was very popular last weekend.

          • shellback

You wouldn’t happen to have a pipe organ available, would you? That’s all I can play.

          • Lars Littlefield

No. But i do have a full grand Baldwin piano and a Steinway studio upright. They are accustomed to jazz and latin fingering. Please, no drinks on the pianos.

          • shellback

I grew up in a big, ole, drafty, Victorian house with a built-in pipe organ. We didn’t have a piano, so I never learned how to play one.

          • Lars Littlefield

Same eight keys per octave. There’s no messy pedal work, so your feet can relax. 🙂

          • shellback

My Virgil Fox rhinestone-trimmed organ shoes would look silly without a pedalboard.

          • gaymex1

Thank goodness for the nude hide and seek…one less suitcase to pack.

          • Lars Littlefield

It was so spontaneous. I hope it becomes a tradition. 🙂

See you in July…Chipper in tow.

          • fuzzybits

Ivanka: Leftover champagne?? You should have celebrated Memorial day with champagne Popsicles!!

    • Dazzer

      It’s late and I had a stress-filled day.

So my recipe for the evening was:

      1 bottle decent wine.
      Repeat as necessary.

      Drink water.
      Eat ham sandwich

Give dog quarter of the ham sandwich
Clean up vomit after dog decides she’s allergic to Djion mustard.

      Go back to wine

      • Lars Littlefield

        Sounds relaxing.

      • Dreaming Vertebrate

Sounds like you ate a tainted Sam Handwich.
You may need to have your stomach pumped!

    • JCF

Hate caviar? I’ve just almost never had it! [My memories from eons ago were Mmmm!]

      • Lars Littlefield

In the late 60s and early 70s it was possible to spring for a 1 lb tin of excellent to superior beluga caviar from Russia. It was flashy to have a can of it sitting in crushed ice surrounded by Carters Water Crackers, crumbled hard boiled egg yolk, and other stuff. Then it jumped to $500, %1000 a tin until it was no longer imported. That’s when we all switched to an equally good quality sturgeon caviar from Iran and Afghanistan. It’s impossible to buy a tin of Iranian caviar these days. So, lumpfish is the best most of us can find these days. Fortunately, it tastes just fine and resembles the good stuff so much that no one remembers what we are all missing.

  • Ninja0980

Of course Trump lied.. it’s the only thing he knows how to do.

      • Cuberly

He was interviewed on NPR during the AHCA rollout and I thought I was going to get all stabby.

They asked him what about the poor people with pre-existing conditions & how will the added costs be paid for. By this time in the interview he had lost his cool, he has a very short fuse, he ignored the question and said (paraphrasing) “What about the poor people having to pay those extra taxes, that are being exploited.

I had to shut off the radio, otherwise I’d have most likely driven into a ditch out of blind rage.

Mulvaney has now surpassed Ted Cruz as having the most punchable face.

Seriously, it’s only scared people who are also not very bright who contact conspirators under investigation. It’s what you do when you need someone to keep a story straight.

  • The_Wretched

Maybe Trump’s legal strategy is the same as his media coverage strategy. Create so many stories (crimes) that noone can keep up. That’d include the investigators.
