Tony Perkins: Extremist Target’s Brazen Sale Of LGBT Merchandise Shows They Still Hate Half Of America

Via press release from hate group leader Tony Perkins:

If the Target corporation is imploding, then it’s going down in a rainbow blaze of glory. Despite taking a year-long beating on Wall Street, the stubborn LGBT ally is clinging to the radical agenda that earned it the scorn of almost 1.5 million consumers. After refusing to change its bathroom and changing room policy (despite a growing number of predators in stores across America), executives are getting even more aggressive with their extremism.

Down more than 30 percent on the stock market, Target executives are turning to #TakePride merchandise to save them. From rainbow bags, cell phone cases, and t-shirts, stores are literally selling out half the country with its brazen line. Of course, this is nothing new for the retail giant, who, long before the Supreme Court redefined marriage, annoyed shoppers with its “love is love” merchandise.

Now, after taking a 13-month PR beating, the company still hasn’t learned its lesson. It may as well be the Titanic, speeding up to hit the iceberg. “Everyone deserves to feel like they belong,” the company said in a statement about its new LGBT gear. But apparently, not everyone deserves to feel safe. That’s the irony. Target may be selling rainbow clothes, but they can’t guarantee that women can try them on without running into a man in the fitting room.

I’m going to buy that plush 6’x4′ rainbow beach towel for Tonette as a gift. It’s colorful and beautiful, and can absorb a lot of Christian tears

Projection from Toni. We don’t hate them, we just don’t want to shop with them. They do hate us.

Ooh I hope my local target has this section!

  • You know what Target can also do? Help redecorate a house. You know, after a flood…
Take a hint, you fucking zagnut.

    • RoFaWh

Don’t kid yourself. Perkins already shops at Target. His rants and raves have little to do with his behavior in that regard.

  • Michael R

If Tony Perkins is against stabbing babies , and you disagree with
Tony Perkins , then you support the stabbing of the babies .
    … or something .

    • zhera

If Target is against stabbing babies, will PerKKKins tell his listeners/readers to stab babies?

      • kareemachan

        Prolly.

      • (((GC)))

If Target promotes eating food, and drinking water, and breathing air — which they obviously do, selling groceries, water filters, and air cleaners — maybe Tony will stop doing those things?

Stocks for big-box retail stores in general are down due to competition from online retailers (except for Wal-Mart, but they are hurting in other ways). PerKKKins’ weaksauce little boycott has not a damn thing to do with it.

I buy my slacks from an online retailer because I hate trying stuff on, and I know how their sizes run and what will fit. Shirts and other apparent I usually buy at a brick and mortar because I like to look at the merchandise and colors.

      • RoFaWh

You have put your finger on one of the biggest problems with online purchases: making sure clothes fit. Easy to do in a bricks’n’mortar place but impossible online without buying some examples and praying they fit. Not that prayer will help, of course!

Having a long-time taste for spiffy undies, I was pleasantly surprised when my trial purchase from Gregg Homme fit perfectly and I’ve since amused myself by assembling a collection of more undies than any one person has any business owning. During the six-week period after my knee replacement in February 2016 when I was housebound, shopping for undies relieved the boredom.

  • bdsmjack

When I used to do display for department stores, the entrances to most of the display windows were in the back of the women’s fitting rooms. So during window changes, all us boys were running through the ladies dressing rooms, back and forth, until the new window display was finished.

In the twelve years I did that job, there were never any complaints about boys being in the women’s dressing rooms.

FU, Toni, and your fake drama.

  • mark99k

Oh bite me Tonezilla. I just looked up Target’s recent stock price history, and while it’s not soaring, it doesn’t look much worse than its competitors — retail isn’t exactly the cutting-edge sector these days. The (vaguely official?) analyst opinion on Target stock at Fidelity.com has been ‘Bullish’ to ‘Neutral’ for some months now. Lie much?

    • -M-

      “Lie Much?” Yes he does.

      • (((GC)))

His favorite Bible passage: “Thou shalt not lie.” Period. End it right there.

      • RoFaWh

No, he doesn’t. The right word is not “much”. It’s “all the time”.

  • bambinoitaliano

Tony Perkins of Fucking Related Children was and is an enabler of pedophile, molester and incester. So much so he appointed Josh Duggar to run his scamming business in the name of Christianity. It’s like hiring a rapists to council his victim and calls it God’s work and charge a fee to support Perkins own lifestyle. It would be an insult to even compare Perkins to a snake oil salesman. This guy is far from someone who believe in the existence of God. He knows there isn’t a hell for what he did and does this life time that he will face judgment.

  • Winky

Poor little persecuted christians:(. The only hatred that exist is from religious groups. Target will gladly take your money for the bibles and associated crap.

  • and i feel bad for saying this, but wow. pride gear in target. it’s totally mainstream now. i guess that’s a good thing.

myself, i’m a costume person. i like to wear something really outrageous, unless the weather is so bad it mandates a certain type of clothing. target needs to sell some leather underwear and some metal shiny stuff. 😉

  • CB

Target’s woes have nothing to do with bathrooms or rainbow clothes. Toni’s ignorance, of course, is irrelevant in his dog whistle appeal to those more ignorant than he is. Changes in marketing and consumption patterns have eroded all brick-and-mortar retail. In my industry, Target has put risk managers rather than merchandisers in key buying positions, and it doesn’t work. Target is getting its lunch eaten by Amazon, Wal-Mart and now with the acquisition of Jet.com, Wal-Mart is particularly poised to be a powerhouse in online. But if you want to hate, I guess, one reason is as good as the next. Sigh.

    • kareemachan

I still won’t go to a Malwart or anything it owns. The ads it runs about those happy employees giving food to people in need make me sick. They probably recognize many of the people in line. “Hi Carmen! See ya tomorrow at work!”

      • RoFaWh

Myself, I shop at Walmart because they sell things I can’t buy anywhere else. A reasonable selection of food from other countries is the jewel in their crown afaiac: Italian coffee beans, Indian pickles in oil, German pickles in vinegar, Thai frozen entrees, Malaysian breads, etc.

Also a surprising amount of halal food, particularly around the time of Moslem holidays, and when the big Indian holiday (Diwali or Holi, I’m not sure) arrives lots of goodies apparently brought in for the occasion.

    • RoFaWh

I wonder if the inexperience of those “risk managers” had anything to do with Target’s humiliating failure to penetrate the Canadian market in spite of spending a fortune on the attempt.

During the brief period that Target had stores open in Canada, visiting one was like a bad joke. Entirely aside from the lack of stock to sell (really!) one had the sense that whoever was the “brains” behind the program thought Canadians were just a bunch of stupid goobers.

Little did he (she?) realize that Canadians, living as they do in a country not as wealthy as the US, pay close attention to the issue of getting value for any money spent.

The only thing I bought at Target was t-shirts, and when their closure was announced, I bought out the closest store.

Lack of stock example: An aisle devoted to kitchen gadgets, with the usual pegboards and hooks for holding the merchandise, each hook holding one spatula, all the same. Gossip says that Target’s fatal mistake was not to make sure of their supply lines before opening the circus. They bought an existing chain, Zellers, but didn ‘t even try to keep up Zellers’ supply lines while they built their own.

  • ceeenbee

Did perKKKins note that young people support LGBTs by a margin of 80-92% ? Did he happen to say in his bigoted screed that 61% of ALL people polled in the US support same-sex marriage as opposed to 35% who do not?

So, by his twisted logic, Target would be financially irresponsible to discriminate against the views of 61-92% of it’s shoppers.

    • RoFaWh

Perkins sedulously ignores any evidence that his rants are simply wrong.

  • Hue-Man

I’m going to send him a letter expressing my outrage. And I have just the postage stamp to use.

The latest Canada Post stamp commemorating Canada’s 150th birthday pays tribute to the fact that same-sex couples have the right to get married in this country.

I wish they would have a display like that in my local store. I was there yesterday and there was nothing.

  • Michael

What is the “lesson” the greedy false prophet wants Target to “learn?” That homophobia, division and inequality are “values” and “moral?” This could only come from an unchristian, anti-family extremist.

  • Has Miss Perkins even set FOOT in a SuperTarget on a weekend? The checkout lines are INSANE. Going down? The only thing I see going down is Perkins in an interstate mens’ room (allegedly).

    1. Trans women are NOT men.
    2. Every dressing room I have ever been in is private and I don’t care who is in the stall next to me.
    3. All brick and mortar stores are down some because of on line purchasing.
    4. Target and the LGBT population does not hate you or anyone else.
    5. You are the one being hateful and un-christian.
    6. It’s haters like you that make us need Pride because Pride helps us counter the pain and sadness you heap on us all year.
    7. Lastly, fuck off Tony.

    • (((GC)))

Most trans women use women’s restrooms and dressing rooms without being noticed! All the better to achieve the (newly unmasked) Queer Restroom Agenda!!!

      1. Pee and/or poop
      2. Wash hands
      3. Leave

(Completely agree with your #7! And 1-6 too.)

  • David Walker

How is a religion established? How can it become sufficiently official that it can have official, representative clergy (or whatever new name a new religion might come up with)?

I saw a picture from a strife-torn part of Russia the other day and writ large and in English was “Freedom is our religion.” I can’t think of a better way to say it or a better reason to establish that as a formal religion. We keep saying that we ought to have a religion so we could refuse service to the xns, The Truly Religious. With the takeover of the US in full swing, “Freedom is our religion” is necessary.

  • Lars Littlefield

A 30% down turn in sales? Christian math?

    • clay

Yeah, and let’s just check Sears, JC Penney, HomeGoods, Kohl’s, Kmart, Macy’s, and

Oh, it’s the industry, not the brand.

  • clay

(despite a growing number of predators in stores across America)

They only increase in the number of predators in stores across America is due to Perkkkins’ fans assaulting people in the name of Jesus to increase their press coverage.

The irony is that this religious extremist thinks flogging this horse continually for 13 months is going to change anything. It’s dead Tony dear and white jeus is not going to resuscitate it!

As an aside, my Target isn’t carrying any of the Pride stuff I’ve seen pictures of that Target is supposedly “flaunting.” I went in specifically looking for the shirts.

BUT I did order online, and shipping is free.
