Noted Scientist Ivanka Trump To Head Review Of US Participation In Paris Climate Change Agreement

The Associated Press reports:

Ivanka Trump will head a review of US climate change policy even as President Donald Trump considers pulling the US out of a global emissions-cutting deal. The United States says it it will continue attending United Nations climate change meetings next week in Bonn, Germany next week, but Trump’s advisers will meet Tuesday to discuss what to do about the global pact known as the Paris agreement, officials said.

The conflicting signals suggested the administration was trying to keep its options open while Trump decides whether to withdraw, a move the international community would strongly oppose. Though Trump’s inclination has been to leave the agreement, he’s allowed his daughter, White House adviser Ivanka Trump, to set up an extensive review process, a senior administration official said. The goal is to ensure Trump receives information from both government experts and the private sector before a making a decision.

Everybody’s OK with this, right?

Maybe if hair furor had more adult children (who are not named Tiffany), there would be far less unfilled positions in his administration.

At least she is (presumably) in favour of staying in the agreement. And since nepotism is the basis for the US Government now that bodes well for the Paris Climate Agreement!

  • clay

Oooh, something new for Bryan Fissure to bitch about her getting her ultra-liberal Jewish red pencil on!

    • another_steve

She’s married to an Orthodox Jew — many (not all, but many) of whom are the Jewish equivalents of the Christian fundie lunatics.

Orthodox Jews have prayers for everything. A prayer upon rising from bed in the morning, a prayer upon going to bed at night, and a prayer for every imaginable thing in between.

Ivanka will have to consult Jared for the proper prayer to be recited upon assisting in the poisoning of the environment.

      • David L. Caster

I’d lower his Jewishness rating from “Orthodox” to “Observant”.

        • Trump for Prison 2017

I love how his very presence is a sh!t on president Bannon’s face & the BrietFarters

          • TampaDink

I sometimes imagine that they are each plotting the other’s demise. Pres. Bannon had better act soon, otherwise he’ll likely be out of a job.

          • Trump for Prison 2017

It’s a win-win scenario for me, one of very few since last Nov.

I gotta admire orange baboon for cooking up the Jarvanka-Bannon nuclear bomb & NOT blowing it up…. yet

          • TampaDink

He’s probably torn about what & who he wants to blow up first….not counting the Yemen raid, the Syrian strike, or any one else who’s died over his decisions.

          • Trump for Prison 2017

He CHOSE this Bannon-Jarvanka bomb, though. The other things can be blamed on circumstances

          • TampaDink

True……and he also kept Chris Christie in play, knowing that there is serious bad blood between Jared & Chris. I figured that was a major factor in jettisoning Chris from his team.

        • another_steve

Interesting. I don’t know the man and can’t say.

If as rumor has it he’s LGBT-friendly, he’s in conflict with the main tenets of his branch of Judaism — the only major branch that still adheres to the Leviticus craziness, that won’t perform same-sex marriages, etc. etc.

          • David L. Caster

Clearly not reformed, that’s for sure, but not the forelocks kind either.

      • clay

She’s not just married to one; she converted and took a new name (that doesn’t brand so well).

        • another_steve

Just as with fundamentalist Christian women, fundamentalist (Orthodox) Jewish women are supposed to be subordinate to their men.

This is, of course, in practice, ridiculous.

My maternal grandparents were Orthodox Jews. My grandma was one powerful and beautiful lady. When she spoke, you listened.

My grandpa quaked in her presence.

        • TampaDink

What is the Hebrew spelling of Ivanka?

          • clay

She took “Yael”, who is actually kind of a feminist icon.

          • TampaDink

How lovely…..I’m surprised that she didn’t use that as her brand, knowing that it is all about the branding.

          • clay

Something about driving a tent stake through a guy’s head to avoid being raped (or murdered for being accused of being raped) just doesn’t sell a story she wants to tell.

Daddy whore bucks’ rules of business…do whatever is necessary to get ahead…even if it means “eliminating” the competition….and when it comes to his “special” relationship with his most special assistant it is all about getting head.

          • GayOldLady

That’s a choice none of us have to make

          • Bj Lincoln

Just to let you know, I still have not heard a thing about my SSD. I have sent a letter to 60 Senators, 5 Maryland state representatives, 4 local TV stations associated with 4 major networks and 6 Maryland newspapers. So far I have heard back from Al Franken and Tammy Baldwin. They can’t help but got the message. I am afraid I need to make more noise.

          • GayOldLady

Damn! I wish I knew someone who could help you. I asked you earlier if you’d heard and I was hoping for better news. What does the court that decided your case say about it

          • Bj Lincoln

My attorney and I have called for months. She has left messages and spoke to Judge Alston’s secretary several times. After my representative contacted SS we got letters 2 weeks later stating it was in process and we would be notified. Very cut and dry. I felt like I was being blown off. It seems plenty of people are aware of the problem but when asked what is being done she gets dead air. When she tried to find out where in the process my case was, it seems it has still not left the Judges office! Every case my attorney had that day with that judge has been waiting for 6 months. Nothing has been done and I can’t seem to get anyone’s attention.

          • yes b’y

I wish you the best Bj

          • Tom Mears

I’ve been waiting on mine for 18months. I’m told by attorney that it typically takes at least 2 years and often 3. Fortunately I have the luxury of time. My former employer pays for the attorney. They pay for healthcare for me & husband until I turn 65…they will be my secondary and his primary after medicare kicks in. They pay full disability until SS kicks in, then benefits go down by 50%.

I would be in a world of hurt without them. This is the nightmare that awaits everyone who isn’t fortunate or lucky enough to have what I have. It will be even worse should the republicans actually manage to gut ACA.

          • GayOldLady

It’s just infuriating that you’ve been waiting for so long. It sounds like you have done everything you can do. Please keep me posted on the status.

          • Bj Lincoln

I have left this info all over many of the Senators FB pages too.

          • Earth’sEnd

            Am reading your thread.
            Happened to me, too.
My choice of disability lawyer made all the difference. A lady up the road told me what lawyer she used and said another neighbor used him, too.
I called and explained the situation and he took me on board. The lawyer interfaced with the judge, etc…

          • Nychta

Sheesh! How much more noise can you make? Sounds like you’ve done a ton of work already.

Some years ago a friend of mine developed a disabling autoimmune illness and became unable to drive or work. It took her years to get SSD, despite mountains of medical documentation and legal help. It burns me that people in need are subjected to this stalling and bureaucratic quagmire.

I hope things progress for you!

          • Earth’sEnd

I bet it burns ALL OF US even more knowing muslims are getting a free ride to the US and given SS UNTIL THE DAY THEY DIE, while we the people who worked for that money are denied and live in desperation and poverty.

          • Eileen Kuch

That’s Grand Theft Larceny, a felony, Earth’s End. Pilfering the SS Fund is a felony. Period. That fund was established decades ago for retirees age 62 and older, widows and underage children, as well as disability. NO illegals and foreign Muslims are allowed FREE STUFF. Period.

          • Pygormus

With all due respect (emphasis on “due”), you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Oh snap! What a sharp comeback.

          • Tom F

What is the nature of your disability? I was able to have my claim approved in 3 weeks. After hearing horror stories about long stalling times, I was pleasantly surprised and saddened to know I’m in bad enough shape to garner a quick approval! I hope your case is settled soon with a favorable outcome.

          • Jack Kennedy Flash

Who the hell cares about your SSD, whatever that is. This place is for comment about article above, not your damn personal business.

          • Hank Skelton

This thread is about Ivanka. Have you contacted her?

          • Earth’sEnd

It took me 3 years after I first filed to be granted a 2 hour hearing where my disability was discussed.
I had to go back and produce EIGHT YEARS of documentation….. Thankfully, I throw away very little. The last box I looked in had a 4-page letter from an Arthritis Association doctor, DOCUMENTING my “start date.”
The letter was dated such that I had 8 years and ONE MONTH more of required documentation.

          • Trump for Prison 2017

Unfortunately, we don’t have any say.

Looking back, I can somewhat relate. I grew up seeing blacks on TV, not knowing at the time that they were the first and what a momentous change it represented. It was only later, when I was older and learned about the history of what came before that the full impact hit me.

Children grow up accepting whatever is around them as “normal” because they have no other frame of reference. That alone, in the context of this regime, causes me sleepless nights when I think about the future of our nation.

A “Mary Sue” is a trope (check out TV tropes) of a character that does everything. Capt. Janeway, the American Dr. from Ripper Street and others crop up from time to time. They are noted for being remarkably clever in a number of fields to the point where they are no longer credible as characters. Ivanka has pretensions of being a Mary Sue – Jared too for that matter.

    • David L. Caster

      MacGiver comes to mind.

Propped up by the nearly 1/3 of the US population who are idiots and apparently most Republicans, I would not hold my breath. They are stupid enough to make some kind of inexcusable and unforgivable legal blunder that in normal times would get daddy impeached and force his resignation almost every day. Nothing comes of it.

  • Ninja0980

Chelsea Clinton breathes and the pundits have a meltdown.
Yet Ivanka is being put in charge of things she has no business doing and they say nothing.
    Liberal media my ass.

    • HZ81

I can’t even believe this is happening. Really. So much of it, but this is such bullshit.

  • pj

lets see…sold knock off purses now is qualified to asses the direction of climate control. makes perfect sense.

Was her husband busy with something?

    • clay

      avoiding China?

  • rick

    tough crowd.
    she has a fashion line.
she designs beach cover ups and raincoats (or at least employs people who do; or at least looks at pictures of clothes and employs people to copy them or people who look at clothes and copy them and then ask her approval).
she knows plenty about the weather…er,the climate…or something.

    • Jerry Kott

And she knows that in Winter you need to wear more clothing to stay warm and in Summer less clothing is required. We are in such good hands.

      • Tulle Christensen

Therefor global warming is bad because people will need to buy less of her clothing line

        • McSwagg

Don’t be silly, now. Ivanka knows that all you have to do is turn down the thermostat if it’s too warm.

Sen. Hirano: “Ms [Trump], what should the DoJ do about someone in the White House who knew about undisclosed foreign ties of another administration official.”

These etiquette questions are just too hard.

  • GayOldLady

I bet she doesn’t even know how to turn on the CH&AC in her on home, much less understand climate science

    • coram nobis

Don’t be concerned. I’m sure she has servants for that.

      • GayOldLady

Exactly. In fact her mother, Ivana, said she didn’t want to deport Latinos because “who would clean up”

Just when you think this administration couldn’t be a bigger joke… This is just fucking ridiculous. Being a Trump, she might be an expert on hot air but not the goddamned climate and global warming.

    • -M-

Maybe she can boil it down to a handful of single line bullet points for him.

      • Definitely real.
      • We’re already screwed, from waiting too late.
      • If we don’t do what we can now, we’re screwed even more bigly.
      • Other countries know what’s going on too and can raise tariffs to punish the US for not pulling our weight.

  • This is without a doubt a giant ‘Fuck You’ from Donald…directed at the entire planet and its fragile biosphere.

Why should he care? He’s no more than a few years away from the fatal heart attack from the junk food he crams into his gaping maw…or from the final completion of his cognitive decay and dementia such that he won’t even understand what’s happening.

    • Blake Mason

This is why I can’t take this bitch seriously when 45 talks about her being his voice of reason. If this bitch was as smart as she, herself, thinks she is… she would step aside realizing she is in over her head… this isn’t a fucking marketing exercise… this is policy that will affect the entire globe and will have ramifications for generations.

[edit] – Let’s face it… if he hadn’t taken those days off to head to Florida in his first 100 days… he may have been dead by now.

The hubris of this money-grubbing tribe of liars is breathtaking. I used to be able to laugh, but no longer. The inability to grasp their own incompetence is dangerous and frightening and disgusting.

    • RoFaWh

The Drumpf clan is a collection of perfect living examples of Dunning-Kruger effect.

  • Halou

Is there any international treaty that Dear Donald doesn’t want to take America out of? Whether it is NAFTA, NATO, the Paris Accords, or anything. It seems Trump wants to surgically detach the United States from the rest of the world.

POTUS 46 is going to have their work cut out rebuilding trust around the world.

    • Halou

The United States says it it will continue attending United Nations climate change meetings next week in Bonn, Germany next week

Yeah, have fun being relegated to the sidelines and doing nothing. The next major international summit America wont even be invited to, much less allowed to contribute, because who can trust the US to remain committed and not just pull out further down the line?

  • Hank
  • ultragreen

It doesn’t make any difference who Trump appoints to be the head of the review committee, the decision has already been made to not do anything to control the emissions of fossil carbon. Instead, it’s drill baby, drill!

  • -M-

Sure, let’s have a pretend fashion designer / real estate mogul reevaluate an overwhelming scientific consensus that’s been reaffirmed and strengthened again and again over the past two or three decades for her Daddy the ignorant illiterate reality TV buffoon.

    • Tor

I want to pretend that she will listen to the experts.

  • safari

She’ll curl up to daddy next time they have quiet time together alone in the oval office and quietly whisper words about the earth into daddy’s ear.

    • Treant

“It’s round, daddy, like my breasts. I need bigger breasts, like the size of the Earth, Daddy.”

      • RoFaWh

The thing that creeps me out was Drumpf’s slow caress of her side televised during the campaign. If he isn’t fucking her my sexdar is maladjusted.

(It was obvious she was wearing a corset of considerable strength underneath.)

  • clay

Oh, but don’t worry, they’re sending six other people with her (wanna bet if any of them are climatologists, risk-assessment experts, ecologists, policy-wonks, economists, or experienced diplomats?). I mean, that’s nearly as large a group as (international pariah-state) Zimbabwe’s sending.

  • KnownDonorDad

From a scientist’s perspective, I think the hardest thing would be showing deference to someone not qualified to speak on the subject, but who can have an enormous impact on the eventual decision.

  • Canadian Observer

Why not just pull names randomly from the entire population to fill offices like this? Definitely fairer, and likely to be just as effective.

  • RoFaWh

He’s a nitwit and so is she, expensive clothing notwithstanding.

    • Tor

But she is more aware than he. Small condolence.

Well, according to the Trumpettes, we’re all just jealous because Melania and Ivanka are smoking hot.

Oh for pity effer’s sake. I’d rather see the national winner of the Junior High science fair do it.

    • Tor

I won a blue ribbon at a state science fair. Does that count for anything?

      • McSwagg

You could be part of a Blue Ribbon Panel.

  • Jean-Marc in Canada

I’m finding it harder and harder not to laugh at the U.S. right now. The only thing keeping from completely going over the edge with outbursts of laughter is the painfully sad knowledge that so many sane Americans are actually in the U.S. whereas I and my sweet American husbotter are not. You continue to have my sympathies but fake-god, the more 45 and his family do shit like this, the harder it gets.

Noted Scientist Ivanka Trump To Head Review Of US Participation In Paris Climate Change Agreement

    Jesus Fucking Christ!

  • Garry King

    Sad joke of today’s America.

  • Ivanka has tried to suggest that she acts as a moderating influence in the WH. She also said she can’t reveal any specific examples because her influence depends on her being invisible behind the scenes. This puts her front and center. If her father decides to stick with the Paris Agreement, maybe she does genuinely have some influence for good. But if he nixes it, any pretense that she’s a moderating influence is irrevocably gone.

  • CleverBev

Lord, please, make it stop. I would think there couldn’t be enough offenses against intelligence and humanity for them to commit one daily, but they just keep finding ’em. At some point, his supporters are going to have to step up and demand something different. Even they can’t approve of this.

It’s simply time for this asinine shit to stop,,, who are these people? They are not qualified to run this country,, make decisions affecting our lives,,, or review scientific data,,, Please, make the stupid STOP!

Probably just taking a free trip on the taxpayers to scope out golf property for daddy

  • Well, who else is there? He fired everyone who knows anything about climate change.

To serve in a capacity in which you have no fundamental qualifications is, in and of itself, unethical.

In 1994, I wrote to Hillary Clinton about my husband’s SSD. He had been turned down once and it was evident he was being turned down again. Mrs. Clinton’s secretary called me at my office and informed me that my husband would be getting a check by March 3rd. I wrote to her the middle of February. By the end of February I had a personal letter from her expressing her concern for our plight. My husband drew ten checks and died. She is s great lady and humanitarian. I was so disappointed when she lost her run for POTUS. Now we have to live with a douche bag for President. By the way, my husband died of cancer. He had a feeding tube and they thought he could work.

  • Zhushika

O.M.G. You mean this isn’t satire? Now she’s a scientist? According to WHO? This is too much..
    Seriously not satire….wow.

  • sTv0

Ivanka? Head of something? Legit? And she’s a “moderating voice”? Srsly?

  • Earth’sEnd

GEEZ! Just when we finally get rid of the homo, another usurper parks her azz in the WH.

I have had enough of Ivanka Trump. She has not been elected by the people and has no business in the WH directly and openly influencing US policy.

And neither does her “husband/girlfriend” the juu.

  • KaWaiAwaAwa

This is just about your ads on many pages. Can you get rid of the BS “what the anchor or newscaster did on air crap?”

  • z00m3r

Well, the real irony: she’s about the only “member” (though not officially) of the Trump administration who even remotely considers climate change (induced by human activity or not) a serious concern. :-/

  • stephen

    No, no, on!

  • Brian

She’s not pretty enough to discuss weather manipulation intelligently. We should send some hot weather girl from Guadalajara. If people are dumping dark-colored coal fly ash particles on the ice in order to melt it, and Dane Wiggington is claiming they’re trying to prevent global warming when they’re really trying to INDUCE it, then we need a really, really pretty girl.

  • Jacques Devin

Zionist neocon JAVANKA are running the show in Washington, daddy sold out to the zionist neocon, in doing so he betrayed the millions supporters who put HIM into the oval office. JAVANKA are pro liberal agenda who are owned and paid for by Soros and the zionist cabal.

  • Rosie T. Riveter

This is satire. come on people. Jesus.

  • Jerry Wayne Carver

There has historically been much more CO2
in our atmosphere than exists today. For example, during the Jurassic
Period (200 mya), average CO2 concentrations were about 1800 ppm
or about 4.7 times higher than today. The highest concentrations of CO2
during all of the Paleozoic Era occurred during the Cambrian Period,
nearly 7000 ppm — about 18 times higher than today.

The Carboniferous Period and the Ordovician
Period were the only geological periods during the Paleozoic
Era when global temperatures were as low as they are today.
To the consternation of global warming proponents, the Late Ordovician
Period was also an Ice Age while at the same time CO2 concentrations
then were nearly 12 times higher than today– 4400 ppm. According
to greenhouse theory, Earth should have been exceedingly hot. Instead,
global temperatures were no warmer than today. Clearly, other factors besides
atmospheric carbon influence earth temperatures and global warming.
