LIVE VIDEO: The DC March For Science

The Washington Post reports:

Earth Day has arrived, and so has the March for Science — a global event on six continents (and cheered on by scientists on a seventh, Antarctica). Tens of thousands of people are expected to gather this morning on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

The first wave came through the security checkpoints at 8 a.m. The rally-goers carried signs with science themes: “In peer review we trust” – “The oceans are rising, and so are we” – “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the precipitate.”  There is an overall feeling of excitement.

The rally, starting at 10 a.m., is scheduled to last four hours, with short speeches by a wide variety of scientists and science advocates. At 2 p.m., participants will march down Constitution Avenue to Union Square at the foot of Capitol Hill.
