TEXAS: Divorce Lawyer For Alex Jones Tells Court That Jones Is Just A Performance Artist Playing A Character

The New York Daily News reports:

Alex Jones’ dangerous rants are apparently all for show. The Infowars host and founder is “playing a character,” his lawyer said in a recent custody hearing. “He is a performance artist,” attorney Randall Wilhite told a judge, according to the Austin American-Statesman.

The radio host has been known to peddle conspiracy theories without any evidence, including that 9/11 was an inside job, Sandy Hook was “completely fake with actors” and the government is using chemicals in the water to turn people gay.

He also perpetuated the “Pizzagate” theory that Hillary Clinton and other Democratic leaders were running a child sex trafficking ring run out of a Washington, D.C., pizzeria, before eventually apologizing.

Kelly Jones finalized the divorce in 2015 and the two have been fighting over custody of their 14-year-old son and 9- and 12-year-old daughters since then. “He’s not a stable person. He says he wants to break Alec Baldwin’s neck. He wants J Lo to get raped,” she said in court, according to the American-Statesman.

Among his thousands of other insane claims, Jones says that Hillary Clinton and President Obama are literally possessed by demons and smell like sulfur. On Friday, he claimed that Obama is not the biological father of his children.

Can a divorce court invoke the death penalty?

    • Todd20036

Isn’t that when they don’t grant the divorce?

      • M Jackson

        That’s probably Mrs. Jones’s point.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

If they could, we’d probably have more death rows than we have McDonalds, Burger Kings and Wendys.

    • kaydenpat

Are you just asking for a friend?

  • Bluto

Too bad there’s not an Oscar for “Best Performance by a Total Asshole” award.

    • whollyfool

      The competition is fierce….

      • Todd20036

Indeed. At least this loser obviously looks like an asshole. I’m 49 this month. My photo to the right is about 3 years old.

Jones is 7 years YOUNGER than I am.

        • whollyfool

          Congratulations and happy birthday!
(Or as autocorrect suggests, “vibratory”. :))

        • FAEN

Right? I thought he was in his 50’s.

        • Danajharris

Managing director of Google!, is explaining to users to start off “Work at home” method, that People have been doing for about one year now. These days alone, I generated close to $36,000 until now with no more than my home computer as well as some spare time, despite that i have a fulltime 9 to 5 job. I’m pretty sure Joaquin Phoenix won that a few years back. Oh, wait, the asshole won best actor, my bad.

      • Judas Peckerwood

Wow, that was pretty out of the blue — any particular reason for your Joaquin Phoenix hate?

Oh, I don’t hate him at all, his acting is fin,e otherwise he is known for being an asshole and hater of the Hollywood establishment.

  • Joe in PA

And yet his followers will still believe (as fact) everything he says. The stupid, it burns.

    • Derrick Johns

      Yes, Joe.

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

…so It’s all about money? Who’d have thunk?

    • FAEN

      I’m shocked, SHOCKED I tell you 😏.

  • Jerry Kott

Just like his paramour ,T45 is pretending to be President.

  • Rex

Yeah, it’s all just an act, he’s a completely sane and lovable man.
Forget that his ex-wife says he’s unstable. What does she know?

    • Joe in PA

      Plus…she’s female. /s

    • CanuckDon

At least the loss of his three kids is one hurtful and deserving consequence to his actions of being a huge nuisance to society.

      • Rex

And it’s a good thing his children are removed from his constant poison.

  • Trevor Brown

Psst: pretending to be an asshole for money isn’t any better than being one. It just means you’re also an amoral, greedy, hypocrite asshole.

  • Gaymurcan

He’s as lazy and insincere as evangelicals, carnival barkers and certain candidates for office who decided they’d rather not obtain psychological counseling or marketable skills… and it really shows.

  • JT

Preznitwit Drumpf using a “performance artist”/charlatan as source.

    • Tawreos

I almost prefer that to him just pulling things from his ass and running with them

  • Rex

“A performance artist playing a character” – and being the consummate professional, he never breaks character.

  • sadoldguy

Choosing to be evil really isn’t better than just being evil.

  • Gigi

If this is true, which I suspect it is, Jones is a POS grifter who is doing great harm to America in an effort to enrich his friends and himself.

    • FAEN

      Grifters gonna grift.

      • perversatile

        Flims gonna flam.

  • Jeffg166

He’ll try anything to hang on to as much cash as he can. I’m sure the misseus has a good lawyer to take him to the cleaners.

    • McSwagg

But you gotta wonder what she saw in him originally that convinced her to mate with him and produce several of his spawn.

  • Bad Tom

An evil character that poisons public discourse.
    Some characterizations should be banned.

    • Beagle

A decent person playing such a character would recognize that too many people take that character seriously, with ugly consequences for the country. A decent person would look at, say, Pizzagate, and think, “What am I doing?” But Jones just continues as if he has no responsibility for all of these things that his “character” inspires.

      • Bad Tom

Indeed, when Pizzagate blew up, Jones frantically scrubbed his website of his flogging of the conspiracy.

        Actions of a guilty conscience.

        • greenmanTN

Actions of a man who is worried about being named in a lawsuit by the pizza parlor owners, I believe is more accurate.

          • Bad Tom

Guiltily worried about his bank balance.

  • FAEN

Alex Jones, Ann Coulter et al are all performance ‘artists’. And given how their deplorable fans eat it all up they are also rich performance ‘artists’.

    • jmax

You can add most television evangelists to that group. Pat Robertson, Jim Bakker, Joel Osteen – I don’t think for a minute that any of them believe a word of the bullshit they feed their followers. It’s all about giving the audience what they want.

      • FAEN

I think Robertson really believes the BS that comes out of his mouth. The rest I agree with you about specially Osteen. What a charlatan.

        • jmax

The way Robertson twisted himself into knots trying to justify his endorsement of possibly the most irreligious candidate ever to run for president showed me that he can make himself believe whatever is convenient at the moment and will keep the money flowing.

      • Chris Baker

No, they believe what they are saying (not sure about Osteen, not familiar with his stuff). There are, however, worse charlatans, faith-healer types, that really know they are fake and are just bringing in the money.

    • Chris Baker

trace it all back to Rush Limbaugh. He was the original right-wing performance artist. He knew exactly what to say to get his target audience riled up.

      • FAEN

  • Todd20036

Just for show. There are a bunch of employees at a local pizza joint in DC who might disagree with that.

  • That_Looks_Delicious

Well, we also have a con man playing (badly) a so-called president. So it’s plausible.

    • McSwagg

Sadly, it’s not our first “performance presidency” perpetrated by a bad actor.

  • another_steve

Terrible slur to the world of performance artists, that.

  • Robert Adams

“Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
    Signifying nothing.”

  • Alex Jones figured out HOW to make money just like the Duck Dynasty cast…

    • prixator

How to make money off of gullible people.

But, that’s also called “marketing” or “advertising”.

  • Rex

So, this “Info Wars” is that like a scripted drama? Could his character be killed off?

    • MaryJOGrady

Only if there is a reliable way to monetize it.

    • -M-

      Semi-scripted drama queen.

  • Matt

We wouldn’t have dipsh*ts like Jones if there weren’t millions of even dumber dipsh*ts who believed every word they said.

  • Sam_Handwich

wow i had no idea he was married, never mind 3 kids. that can’t be easy

    • Silver Badger

Fathering kids is easy. Being a father, not so much.

      • grada3784

On Friday, he claimed that Obama is not the biological father of his children.

Good. I never did see what Obama ever saw in Alex Jones.

        • Derrick Johns

        • Silver Badger

          Kelly obviously has better taste.

      • Derrick Johns

You mean like sperm donors? (sigh) Yeah, there are a lot of them–even some Gay ones.

  • Cuberly

Well, that’s one marriage down, two more to go to be a member of the wing-nut-welfare key club. With such prestigious members as Gingrich, Rush and O’Lielly.

  • Buford

I’ll state the obvious… it’s just like church. You think the guys behind the pulpits informing their congregants’ world views and taking their congregants’ money actually believe the crap they are spouting…? Not even.

  • Wesinoregon

Who is he trying to play? He seems to be in character 24 hours a day.

  • kaydenpat

Performance art with real world consequences. He’s a disgusting excuse for a human being.

  • The_Wretched

You cannot pretend to be an asshole. Acting like an asshole is being an asshole.

  • Natty Enquirer

It’s true. He’s a performance artist and he’s crazy. They are not mutually exclusive.

  • Derrick Johns

Yes, but the problem is that too many Americans believe this fvcking “performance artist”–hence, President Trump.

  • Friday

So, he’s pleading “Not insanity by reason of guilty?”

    • -M-

That’s an excellent observation and very well put. 👍

‘Your honor, I am not a potentially violent maniac completely divorced from reality, I just deliberately agitate and incite them en mass.’

‘I was selling Molotov cocktails at the riot, not throwing them.’

  • TampaZeke

It’s interesting that Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and Anne Coulter have ALL, at various times, said essentially the same thing about THEMSELVES. Yet people believe every word they say as facts straight from the mouth of white, straight, Republican Jesus.

  • mikeinftl

And not a very good one either.

    • MaryJOGrady

I would not mind seeing Alex Jones actually have that rage-induced stroke he always seems to be saving up for. He has actively damaged political discourse in this country and caused a lot of suffering to the innocent survivors of violent incidents he delusionally refers to as false flag operations.

  • TampaZeke

How many times have we heard gay conservatives tell us that rabidly anti-gay Republican politicians tell them in private that it’s all an act to rally the base?

I’m always stunned by their acceptance of that explanation as if it makes everything OK. I actually think it’s MUCH worse than people who actually believe the shit that drives them to hurt other people!

  • JWC

Hey Mr Jones ain’t it hell when your bullshit comrs back to bites you in the ass

  • Lumpy Gaga

“Always auditioning, never brings sheet music.”

  • I saw an episode of Bones with a similar plot. Conservative wing nut is actually liberal actor making a quick buck. I think that guy ended up crushed in a car crusher though.

    • Cucker “Dick” Tarlson

      We can dream.

  • Nowhereman

Oh my goodness! Don’t let his fan base know he’s a fake! (snark) Actually, DO let them know. Maybe they will take care of the problem for us. Wait until they find out that Fox “news” lies, too!

  • Igby

I would compare Jones to P.T. Barnum, but D.J. Trump stills holds that honor.

  • LovesIrony

those poor children, they can be in the custody of a fucking evil blowhard or a piece of shit that fucked him for years.

    • MaryJOGrady

That’s an elected Travis County judge he is facing. My hopes are high that the correct decision will be made.

  • i’ve always loved the lizard people notion. he gets credit for spreading it and letting people know that they are among us. this is their Hour.

  • MaryJOGrady

Go for it, former Mrs. Jones! Take him to the cleaners! You earned it all.
Seriously, there is no way this waste of skin should be living with children, even his own.

  • Raising_Rlyeh

I thought a 14 yo would be old enough legally speaking to pick which parent to live with

    • sivorce court is to consider, in its view as arbiter, what constitutes that which is best for the child as the prime motivation, not one or another parent and their wishes. those come later.

  • Mike Knife

  • ajchar

So Alex Jones tells the court he’s P. T. Barnum and he’s playing all the right wing lunatics as suckers. How appropriate 🙂

  • Michael

Who would be willing to testify — under oath — that the whole InfoWars schtick is an act?

  • Jay George

I thought Jones was just a shithead being a shithead.

  • Richard B

I have seen Alex Jones off his show and yes, this is all a crazy as a fox money making act, but what an asshole he is to make money by manipulating and herding in mass America’s most weak minded. Alex Jones has no socially redeeming value and is the Roger Stone of the airwaves.

  • Noooooooo. Really? /s

  • Jukesgrrl

If this is an act, then may I presume he’s taught his children the truth instead of these made-up lies? I wish the judge would put them on the stand and ask them if they have been told that Hillary Clinton is a murderer. My niece and nephew were told by their father that Sec. Clinton killed 24 people. Thank heavens he only has half custody and they don’t believe anything he says since he’s always lying to them about things that matter to them as kids (like “I’ll pick you up after school” or “I’ll help you with your homework.”) When I expressed horror that he would call the former Secretary of State “Killary,” the 12-year-old replied, “Don’t worry, Auntie, he tells us stupid stuff we know isn’t true all the time.”

  • teedofftaxpayer

They’re all playing a role. Hannity, O’Reilly, Limbaugh, and Beck are all playing a role to see how far they can get their heads up their asses.
