Christie Aide Sentenced To Two Years For Bridgegate

CBS News reports:

Bill Baroni, an ex-aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, has been sentenced to two years in prison over 2013 George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal. Baroni and Bridget Kelly were convicted last November on counts including wire fraud, conspiracy and misusing the bridge for improper purposes. Baroni is being sentenced first Wednesday followed by Kelly in the afternoon.

They each face 37 to 46 months in prison under federal sentencing guidelines, although both have filed briefs arguing that they should receive some combination of probation, home confinement and community service. Prosecutors have urged U.S. District Judge Susan Wigenton not to show leniency because, in their words, Kelly and Baroni provided “flagrantly false testimony” during the trial.
