NRA Hits Dems With $1M Gorsuch Campaign [VIDEO]

From the right wing Washington Examiner:

The National Rifle Association on Tuesday will begin targeting four Senate Democrats facing potentially tough reelections with a $1 million TV campaign that urges the confirmation of federal appeals judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.

The NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action told Secrets Monday that the effort will target Sens. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Jon Tester of Montana, Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota and Joe Donnelly of Indiana.

Each of the four local ads quote the senators “talking a good game,” then demands that they make good on their promises to protect gun rights. “Your freedom is on the line,” the ads warn viewers and supporters.

The NRA, a.k.a. the bully, has tried this before with very limited success.

    • The NRA a.k.a Neo-Nazis with guns.

  • The_Wretched

The Dems should party line vote no on Gorsuch on the basis of this advertising alone (forgetting the other stuff for a moment).

  • another_steve

This does not speak well for what we’ll get with Gorsuch.

“By their friends shall ye know them.”

  • Joe in PA

And by “anti-gun” you mean those that think mentally ill people shouldn’t be able to buy guns?

    • another_steve

The sexual predator’s recent repeal of President Obama’s order on point was worse than that, Joe.

Obama’s order involved the mentally ill who were determined by medical experts to be unable to mange their own funds (thereby requiring what the Social Security Administration refers to as a “representative payee”).

This is how I started …………………..

The Democrats need to hold on to those four Senate seats in 2018, so if Gorsuch is going to be confirmed by the Republican majority perhaps using that nuclear option, McCaskill of Missouri, Donnelly of Indiana, Heitkampf of ND and Tester of Montana should do what they have to do to get reelected in those pro gun Red States.

When all else fails, tell the mouth-breathers that the scary Dems are going to take away their guns. Tiresome.

    • Todd20036

      Except that usually doesn’t fail.
Nazis are fucking idiots…. which is how they make more Nazis.

  • Michael R

There were horrible ” Hillary is going to take your guns ” ads here in Virginia before the election , they were so stupid I can’t believe the stations aired them .

    • Carl

We had eight years of Obama and Clinton. You would think if they were going to take the guns away they would have done it by now.

  • PeedeResistance

From the Charlotte Observer: “In the 2012 case United States v. Games-Perez, which involved a question over how to read a federal law that bars felons from
possessing guns, Gorsuch argued that the felon needed to know not only
that he possessed the gun but also that he was a felon for the criminal
law to apply. His dissent included a defense of the Second Amendment —
“gun possession is often lawful and sometimes even protected as a matter
of constitutional right. Otherwise, the felon convicted of possessing a firearm “might very well be wrongfully imprisoned,” he wrote.”

That poor felon, not knowing what he is. I guess the jail time and criminal conviction in court just didn’t register, hmmm?

Gorsucks is very, very bad news.

Ignorance of the law is no defense.

If a Supreme Court Justice should or shouldn’t be nominated because they will vote a specific way, that pretty much proves they are not impartial and not qualified.

I think the NRA over-plays it’s hand sometimes. Also, with Trump poling at 37%, it’s not like he has a lot of widespread support. If he was popular, it would be a different story.

I line my parakeet’s cage with the Washington Examiner and the Washington Times. It appears that on either of them, Tweety won’t even wipe his ass…

I have guns in my home for seasonal hunting (not really my thing, but they’re here). We don’t expend energy worrying about the government taking them away. They’re a tool for a job, not a lifestyle.

  • Lars Littlefield

I continue to wait for Wayne Lapierre to be shot by a fellow member of the NRA. Yup. Still waiting.

  • Skokieguy [Larry]

Damn, If only Dems WOULD stop obstructing and vote for a Republican approved Supreme Court nominee.

“Earlier this week, the Utah Republican suggested Obama nominate Garland.
“(Obama) could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man….At least seven of the Republican senators who confirmed Garland are still in office, including Sens. Dan Coats, Thad Cochran, Susan Collins, Orrin Hatch, Jim Inhofe, John McCain and Pat Roberts.

Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad wrote a letter to a fellow Republican, Sen. Chuck
Grassley, in 1997 to say that Garland had “a distinguished legal career.””I
am writing to ask your support and assistance in the confirmation process…

During his own confirmation hearings, Chief Justice John G. Roberts, who was
nominated by President George W. Bush, praised Garland’s judgment.

Garland is “an intelligent, experienced and even-handed individual,” according
to former Oklahoma Gov. Frank Keating, a Republican who found Garland’s
work on the Oklahoma City bombing case particularly notable and inspiring

I say it’s time to completely arm the oppressed in this country. Just that notion alone will hamstring the NRA. By oppressed, I don’t mean the NRA’s usual membership either, rather, the ones they are always gunning for.

    • Goggles

John Brown gun club protesters demonstrated recently in Phoenix. A leftist gun culture may be a necessity going forward.

“The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill that repealed a law allowing public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill was crafted in response to members of the Black Panther Party who were conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods while they were conducting what would later be termed copwatching.[1] They garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched bearing arms upon the California State Capitol to protest the bill.”

It was signed by Governor Ronald Reagan.

  • SoCalGal20

    Fuck you, NRA.

  • BlindBill

And did 45 also get his comrades in Russia to help with a propaganda and hacking into voting machines?

  • greenmanTN

God forbid anyone take away or even register any guns or have background checks. That might thwart someone’s right to go on a spree shooting.

  • NancyP

Claire McCaskill isn’t “anti-gun” by any reasonable measure. I would be shocked if she didn’t have family members or friends who hunt (and 95% of hunters use guns – the elite 5% are the bow hunters). Everyone in rural Missouri hunts, knows someone who hunts, or is merely grateful that someone is reducing the white-tail population so fewer people get 100+ pound dents in their car during rut season. (mating deer pay NO attention to traffic).
