REPORT: Russians Own $100M In Trump Properties

Reuters reports:

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald J. Trump downplayed his business ties with Russia. And since taking office as president, he has been even more emphatic. “I can tell you, speaking for myself, I own nothing in Russia,” President Trump said at a news conference last month. “I have no loans in Russia. I don’t have any deals in Russia.”

But in the United States, members of the Russian elite have invested in Trump buildings. A Reuters review has found that at least 63 individuals with Russian passports or addresses have bought at least $98.4 million worth of property in seven Trump-branded luxury towers in southern Florida, according to public documents, interviews and corporate records.

The buyers include politically connected businessmen, such as a former executive in a Moscow-based state-run construction firm that works on military and intelligence facilities, the founder of a St. Petersburg investment bank and the co-founder of a conglomerate with interests in banking, property and electronics.

People from the second and third tiers of Russian power have invested in the Trump buildings as well. One recently posted a photo of himself with the leader of a Russian motorcycle gang that was sanctioned by the United States for its alleged role in Moscow’s seizure of Crimea.

Thank you…I’ve been saying that german word for years and never knew how it was spelled. And YES, scheisse!

      • Oh’behr

though in German, it’s got that, looks like an English capital B spelling:

        Scheiße

See also: scheisse, Scheisse and scheiße

        • Joe in PA

          of course, thanks. Strange. 🙂

          • Oh’behr

Yes, I didn’t take much German, though I get thrown by alternative spelling or correct spelling in the native language.

As when I took Danish. Or look up various things in French, Spanish, etc. And poop (being polite) in German now.

It’s also fun to do it in some Asian languages; see how things translate to English or their slang. Yet I’m really bad at doing it.

          • Joe in PA

Yikes, you took Danish? Oh wait…you have a GrainBelt beer as you avatar. 🙂

          • Oh’behr

Only 2 years. It’s a difficult language to do when you don’t have anyone to practice with very often. I forget it as fast as I learned it. I remember a few words, including Hygge, which now is very trendy. Suddenly the USA is all Hygge about life and design. Everything Denmark.

I took Danish in the mid-1970s and a few classes to keep me current to the mid-1980s. I like when I dreamed in Danish. That was kind of cool, though it could have been gibberish too.

Now when I watch a film. I don’t understand 99% of it. Sigh, at least I went to Denmark when I could read enough to buy a ticket from the train kiosk. I wasn’t that good, yet maybe a young elementary student reader.

Plus speaking it. You sound like you’re going to cough up a piece of fish at times. It’s not pretty.

I still love Babette’s Feast which was about Danish life in a fishing village in the (1800s?) and their fascination with French cooking. I think life in Denmark was very difficult when it was aristocracy and before WWI (One). Things got much better after WWII (Two). In terms of quality of life.

    • Walter Maerlyn

Only for the last 30 years.

  • In a sane world, this would be seen as clear and obvious evidence of extreme corruption.

I spend each day now, it seems, alternately being spitting furious with Donald and his gang of Russo/Nazi goons, and feeling the same way about GOP Congressional leaders who could stop this motherfucking nightmare RIGHT NOW, but keep choosing not to do so.

Every day they let this continue, America becomes weaker, more damaged, and irrevocably lost.

    • KCMC

if there’s a current upside, it all seems to be splitting GOP. Continues till mid-term voting may be highlight. If there’s anything still left then.

      • DesertSun59

        Sadly, 5 of 435 isn’t a split. That’s a gross exaggeration by the media.

    • DuaneBidoux

Trust me: if these were Clinton properties and she was president impeachment proceedings would already be under way.

They’d put her in prison for a speeding ticket and ignore first degree murder from Trump.

If Clinton had properties, and an owner held a party at which someone even DISCUSSED Russia, there’d be three Congressional investigations in progress by now.

I’m with you Becca. So hard to come to grips with this nightmare. Total insanity and corruption/collusion being allowed to continue as some type of “normal” status quo. But I try to keep hoping enough people in power will finally come to their senses and say this has to be stopped. How much more evidence and craziness do they need to finally go for impeachment. I’m struggling not to let this drag me down into a total depressed funk.

      • DesertSun59

The sole way the GOP will stop him is the second he attempts to disparage their re-election bid. Remember, those Congressmen are not in office for the nation as witnessed by their inaction against him. They are in office for POWER and MONEY. In other words, they’re there for themselves.

    • Ninja0980

Party over country, simple as that.

      • lymis

I’ve been saying for a while now that the only way Congress will act against Trump is if there’s a big enough GOP movement to declare that Trump isn’t actually a Republican, at which point they can go after him as a heretic.

    • There is the one thing that most politicians from the lowest levels of government all the way to the President rely upon and that is for the American people to activate and simultaneously disengage both their short and long term memory.

At the end of his four years Trump will be remembered with kind words that wax and wane of how he “tried” many new and innovative things while being the first “outsider” who made it as an American President.

TV specials will air showcasing him cuddling with wife number four and a new child while we as a nation tune in and try to remember.

That’s one of the scariest parts for me, too–that we have to hope that republicans will do the right thing. I’m trying to remember the last time that they did, and I’m drawing a blank. republicans in congress could change their party affiliation to Independent, and caucus with the democrats and we could put a stop to this shit. But I don’t think their are any republicans left who have a moral compass and a spine anymore.

I love that name. Our semi-ferrel was named by the rescue folks (Stray Cat Blues) before we got him. But I have a Saint Sebastian story…I was on a bicycle trip in Italy … in the 90s. One of the nights we stayed with the friend-of-a-friend in Milan. In his fabulous apartment, he had a life-sized, almost-nude portrait of Saint Sebastian, with all of the wounds. As it was supposed to be, it was strangely erotic and WAY BDSM. I felt like such a country bumpkin. 🙂

    • Judas Peckerwood

Something about the look in that cat’s eyes reminds me of Putin. Thanks for the nightmares.

No one with taste + money would buy an apartment in a building called Trump Royale. These tacky towers must be brimming with oligarchs from Russia.

    • BlindBill

They do not care if the buildings are occupied …. Money laundering only needs “legitimate” projects … If the project does not make a profit, even better – tax deductions for the loss and clean money …. So money launderers get a % of the investment.. Wonder what 45’s cut is?

          • Oh, Parker

Absolutely true, because they think right-wing ideology is sound no matter how many politicians fail them when it’s the ideology that’s the problem.

          • FAEN

            They’re officially insane.

      • Oh, Parker

They would simply rather go to their graves with their own beliefs and ideology, no matter how flawed or reckless, than ever admit someone has a better way. It’s the same thing with religion, which is why they hate being questioned about it then when cornered say things like, “That’s just not for me to know,” or “I’m just relying on faith.”

Facts mean nothing to people with low intelligence because it’s the people with high intelligence that they blame for putting them in the position they are in in life, not their own bad choices. They love Trump the way they loved W, because they were both as dumb as them.

Many of these same people have an insane belief in a non existent sky fairy who didn’t make the world 6000 years ago, so they have a lot of experience ignoring the truth. My GOD, the willfully ignorant, hateful SCUM have got it COMING!!

      • Oh’behr

I usually don’t watch TV news, yet they had a report on tonight News on CBS, about Trump’s cuts to programs including to Meals on Wheels. They showed a Georgia (Macon, GA) Meals on Wheels Program which will have to cut 300 people if Trump does cut money from them as they get approx. 1/3 of their budget from the Feds.

One (white) lady, who was 45 years old and had a stroke, was a Trump voter and would still support Trump though he would cut her meals. I just don’t get the disconnect. Lady, he’s going to starve you and yet you would still support Trump’s actions by supporting him in the future. Duh!

The white male person on TV speaking on behalf of the budget cuts (someone in Washington, D.C.) said the cuts won’t affect anyone. He pissed me off as he’s lying for Trump.

The reality is that Trump’s budget cuts to Meals on Wheels would affect 300 people in Macon, GA alone. I cannot imagine how many people nationally will be cut from Meals on Wheels do to Trump’s cuts to Meals on Wheels.

Trump is evil and heartless. As is the majority of the GOP who’ll support these cuts.

The news also showed how Trump is going to cut funding for police to do terrorism work for local policing, including in New York City, even though more money is going to go to Dept. of Homeland Security. Money did go to local policing under Obama, yet Trump is cutting that program for anti-terrorism policing too. This affects many cities across the USA.

        • Todd20036

The woman had a stroke. Which answers your question. She cannot think clearly.

        • Menergy

Similarly, some 32,000 federal civil servants managing the various cabinet programs across the country (not just employees in D.C.) are being separated/dismissed/ by Trump and company (the Republicans)

        • cleos_mom

The ones who support cutting any funds that might thwart terrorist attempts might be hoping for a propaganda-and-scapegoating bonanza in the wake of one that succeeds. Hey, if people can live with starving elderly people they wouldn’t even wink at hundreds or thousands being killed.

      • FAEN

Oh they WILL suffer from his so called presidency and his pro wealthy budget. I used to have empathy but I’m done. They voted for one of the nastiest people ever who wants to make our very existence illegal-FUCK THEM!

      • Guest

Part of the reason for the ec was to prevent a Trump like person. Put the blame where it is, with the right, putting their party and wanted world view ahead of everything, especially country.

      • No, they didn’t ‘play political games.’ What the Electoral College delegates did was surrender to cowardice, by refusing to disobey the normal rules which would have had them vote exactly as they did, based on which candidates won which states. To do otherwise would have required the courage to engage in civil disobedience and to live with the personal consequences, possibly involving being sued or charged under state laws.

Plus most of the delegates to the EC are partisans to start with.

        • Frostbite

They are mostly partisans, and they were bribed, coerced, blackmailed, etc. to get them to put Trump in power. The GOP leadership played a better game than the Democrats did and that’s why they got their man in place. The common man’s vote hasn’t counted in many a presidential election but it makes us feel good to pretend we have a say in the whole process.

Sure, be mad at the Trump supporter for being a bigot, racist, ignorant, idiot, but to put the blame them for Trump being in office is about as equal as saying the LGBT community controls where tornadoes touch down.

          • they were bribed, coerced, blackmailed, etc

I’d like to see your evidence or citations for this. There were many reports about the Russians fucking with the election via selective leaks of hacked information, using social media to engineer attitudes, and of course a supine media addicted to Trump-outrageous-behavior ratings. I did not see a single report — reliable or otherwise — that the Electors themselves were tampered with. It wasn’t necessary by that point.

          • lymis

I agree. I wouldn’t blink twice at “pressured.” I’d want to see evidence of bribery or blackmail.

          • Frostbite

Then you’re not looking very hard. Google “electoral college tampering 2016” turns up many articles with reports of tampering to outright fraud. And it works both ways, “At least six electoral voters have said they would not vote for Trump, despite the fact that he won their states.” As much as I wanted Hillary to win, that too shows the EC votes as they want and not as their constituents desire.

Russian hacking the popular vote means nothing when the popular vote isn’t what puts someone into office.

Even the Russians didn’t want Trump Toronto!

The court-run sale of a Trump International Hotel & Tower received no initial bids and ownership will likely fall to its main debt holder, a letter from the receiver showed.

    And it gets better.

Some hotel unit buyers have said they were misled into investing and have filed lawsuits against Talon, which Talon has said are without merit.

O/T: US makes formal apology to Britain after White House accuses GCHQ of wiretapping Trump Tower

Intelligence sources told The Telegraph that both Mr Spicer and General McMaster, the US National Security Adviser, have apologised over the claims. “The apology came direct from them,” a source said.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/03/17/us-makes-formal-apology-britain-white-house-accuses-gchq-wiretapping/

Has Spicer been asked about his apology?

Too bad that German reporter is probably flying back home, the one who shocked U.S. “journalists” by actually doing a TRUE reporter’s JOB and asking Drumpf why he keeps repeating proven FALSEHOODS.

They’re gutless cowards over here, Germany, with NO self-respect or concern for the truth or democracy.

They laugh along with a regime that LIES to them and us on a DAILY basis.

They treat these pathological liars with respect and SHAME this country on the world stage.

    • fuzzybits

Why didn’t the friggin orange monster apologize!?

      • billbear1961

        When does he, EVER??

      • Because those with extreme or pathological narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) are incapable of making sincere apologies, resisting even the appearance of apologizing. If forced to apologize, they will nearly always walk back or refute the apology, denying they did so and going right back to insisting they were right all along.

Donald is psychologically incapable of sincerely saying, “I’m sorry, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have done that. Please forgive me.”

        • fuzzybits

Yea,I know and we can never expect him to apologize for anything. Also he sees it as weak.

        • MonochromeMouse

“I apologize for how you misunderstood my statements, but you all know I was right all along. I’m a very intelligent person, perhaps the most intelligent person, and am pretty much never wrong. I do tremendous amounts of work, so much work I have no time to do things I love to do, like read, I read the best books, like a book about Andrew Jackson, and wish I had even more time to read other great books.” -trump’s apology

        • Ninja0980

          It’s a win/win for Putin.

If Trump succeeds, Putin has what analysts of Russia’s long-range political strategy refer to as his “Useful Idiot” in the White House.

  • O/T: A much needed “some humans are really good” palate cleanser

    https://twitter.com/CBSNews/status/842884509972553728

When the man walked up to the counter at an airport in Omaha, Nebraska, last week with his daughter in his arms, the agent asked how old she was. When he replied, “She just turned two,” the agent asked to see her ticket.

The man was confused. He thought his daughter would be able to fly for free. But he soon found out she was over the age limit by just two months.
    (…)
That’s when an “angel in disguise” stepped in to save the day.

She had overheard the man’s dilemma, and told the agent she wanted to help.

“I wanna buy her ticket,” the woman said, pointing to the little girl.

“You know how much this ticket costs, right?” the surprised agent replied.

    “$700 something?”

    “$749.”
Without hesitation, the woman pulled out her credit card and paid for the ticket.

The man was overwhelmed with joy and hugged the woman, repeatedly asking for her name so he could pay her back. But the woman refused, and said, “Don’t worry about it,” before walking away.

    (Eventually someone tracked her down…)

This is why I find it hard to believe people will let this regime condemn many to starvation and death without healthcare.

If they could, the rich would charge for water and AIR, and if people couldn’t pay, the GOP would let them die of thirst or SUFFOCATE.

I hate these evil bastards and want them to begin to live in FEAR every waking and sleeping moment of their godforsaken lives. This country has no greater enemy than the GOP, their rich masters, and the PROPAGANDISTS in the media who support and spread their LIES and depraved CRUELTY.

We have the NUMBERS to STOP them, to paralyze their efforts to destroy democracy and human DECENCY.

If we don’t, if we let them commit their CRIMES against HUMANITY, then we are COMPLICIT in their filthy GUILT.

      Look at THIS:

“We’ve been dreaming of this since I’ve been around… since you and I were drinking out of kegs.”

      — Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), in an interview with National Review, about this “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cut Medicaid spending.”

      https://politicalwire.com/2017/03/17/bonus-quote-day-108/

      This is moral DEPRAVITY.

      • bzrd

In 2004 I read an article about certain companies buying up water systems around the world, so they will be able to charge outrageous prices in the near future. Then the air quality is going to be very bad in 5 years so these same fvcks will be selling bottled air at extreme prices.

        We are truly fcked

        • Skokieguy [Larry]

Its already happened in the US. Trump describes his “infrastructure” plan as a public – private partnership. In other words, the government will give money or tax credits to private companies to build roads, bridges, etc. and no doubt those companies will own those structures. More toll roads and private bridges, perhaps privately owned school buildings leased to Dept. of Education.

That’s why the sooner Trump is out of office, the better as the damage he is and will do will last for generations.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_privatization_in_the_United_States

      • I imagine that when conservatives read stories such as this one they say to themselves, “See, we don’t need the government helping people…good people will always do what is right! Especially if they are christians!”
The problem is there are too many people who need help and too few individuals who are able to help or willing to help. If those fucking christer mega-churches spent less on mansions and jet planes that would help.
But we need to pool our resources (all of us) as a benevolent society to make a difference, something conservatives just do not seem to understand.

      • cleos_mom

This is why I find it hard to believe people will let this regime condemn many to starvation and death without healthcare.

But remember, in the example above the person who stepped in to help was physically present: she saw the man and his daughter right there at the airport ready to get on a plane and being stopped by the dad’s error about the maximum age.

In the case of funds being cut for Planned Parenthood, Meals on Wheels or any other program, that’s where the human capacity for rationalization and tribalism come in; e.g. ‘if it affects me and/or my family it’s terribleterribleterrible but if it’s anyone else — meh.’

    Expert to OMB: liar!!

The author of a groundbreaking 1988 study demonstrating the link between school meal programs and classroom achievement has denounced as “outrageous” the Trump administration’s assertion that no such link exists …
    — lede

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/17/school-lunch-program-cuts-student-performance-link

… an author of the 1988 study of Boston schoolchildren that showed a causal relationship between academic performance and expanded school breakfast programs for the first time. When the study was released, Weitzman argued, and still argues, that the cost to the public of school meals is a pittance compared with the benefit to society …

    • It’s like the studies which examined the difference in effectiveness AND economic activity when public assistance (disability, unemployment insurance, SNAP, direct financial aid) was compared against tax & spending cuts.

In every case, the former generated many multiple dollars of economic activity, plus demonstrably improved peoples lives — plus it was learned that most people only need such aid long enough to (1) keep from falling into abject poverty and (2) climb out of whatever bad situation put them there in the first place. Usually no more than 6-24 months.

Tax cuts and spending cuts? A drag on the economy, every time, and increases overall human suffering, all so the rich can be richer.

      • Menergy

Thanks, Becca! — see my comments above too.

    • Menergy

Thank you for the link! And I can attest personally to the efficacy and impact of the various federal food assistance programs operating in the USA (about to be truncated if not halted by this new administration’s insanity and lack of vision)….I worked in the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) for 34 years until 2004– involved in managing commodity distribution (i.e.. removal of excess commodities from the market and distributing to families and individual through food banks, Native American Food Distribution Programs on reservations, school breakfast and lunch and after-school/summer food service program federal subsidies (per-meal payments to the states and local level operating agencies for meeting nutrition requirements and to assist in operating costs). I assisted in setting up and administering the federal WIC program in 1973 (initially actually a health/prescription program food assistance program for pregnant and post-partem women, infants, older children to five years old through WIC food-coupons to be used to buy nutritious and necessary food to assure health and development of the recipients. The same USDA agency operates the Food Stamp Program, and augments all the programs with nutrition guidance, education etc. for the recipient families to best utilize the assistance. It is critical that school children are receiving sufficient nutrition to learn — a hungry child can’t learn, feed them and they will. It’s been demonstrated by studies such as coram nobis cites. And often the school meal(s) are the only meal a kid may get all day, or may not even have a dinner meal at home. Summer and After-school programs helped with additional nutrition assistance and keeping children in safe surroundings until their working parents could pick them up once the parent(s) got off work.

All of these food assistance programs and financial subsidy programs have been proven multiple times to have significant and measurable improvements and differences in scholastic performance, healthy growth and development, and actually incorporated into education programs like hands-on creating school gardens to teach the kids where food actually comes from, what various foods are and taste like, and teach science at the same time. And the students are proud of what they do and learn. It IS worth the federal and state financial assistance to operate these critical nutrition assistance programs!!!!!

He’s a callous BASTARD, and he calls himself a CHRISTIAN.

HIS government-sponsored healthcare coverage and all the other benefits he gets as an elected official–that TAXPAYERS pay for–should be STRIPPED from him!

He wouldn’t be where he is today if it weren’t for the SOCIAL SECURITY benefits that put him through school when his father died when he was 16. (I think that’s accurate info about his background! Rubio and Ben Carson are ALSO where they are today because of government benefits they received when young.)

Putin is getting his money’s worth.

It’s a scandal the way this country is allowing itself to be USED–a SCANDAL!!

If Comey says there’s no evidence of collusion Monday, he can GO TO HELL.

There CANNOT be this much SMOKE without FIRE.

Friend of Political Wire Thomas Wood has put together a remarkable 117-page timeline detailing President Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.

It’s the most comprehensive (and incriminating done to date), and as Wood notes, “the more detailed and more comprehensive it gets, the more incriminating it all seems.”

      https://politicalwire.com/2017/03/15/ultimate-trump-russia-timeline/

HERE is the link to the 117 pages:

      https://drive.google.com/file/d/0By1TN7FzSbdQVWl5emlCVkh1Mms/view

If you PRETEND none of this matters, Comey, there’s a prison cell waiting for you, TOO.

      Electoral-vote.com says it’s 118 pages.

Political Wire has published a 118-page dossier of connections between Trump and Russia going back 30 years. The first 9 pages cover 1987 to 2015, then it moves to 2016. Every item is sourced, with a hyperlink to the original published news story. Sources include major newspapers, television stations, magazines, and major Websites. Pages 32 to 118 cover the period of Sept. 16, 2016 to March 14, 2017. Maybe all of this is just one giant coincidence, but maybe something is really going on below the radar.

      http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2017/Pres/Maps/Mar16.html#item-6

There’s NO WAY this is “just one giant coincidence.”

    https://twitter.com/HannahAllam/status/842855788507029506

American citizens foregoing international travel because they believe they will be detained and hassled at the border when trying to re-enter.

    • JCF

The airlines aren’t going to be too happy about this. You think they’ll have any clout w/ Hair Furor?

  • Another kind of O/T: Russia’s efforts to undermine and ultimately destroy America from within do continue. And it isn’t all ‘promote Trump’.

Some of it is attempting to get the American far-left to go radical and revolt.
    https://twitter.com/PaprikaPink/status/842947002153426945

This provincial Russian city, about 1,000 miles east of Moscow, is about as unlikely a place as any to find the leader of one of the more unlikely political causes to arise in opposition to President Trump. But Louis J. Marinelli, the 30-year-old English teacher who is the president of the Yes California movement, which seeks independence for the state, has decided to call it home.
    (…)
Now with renewed attention on the movement, Mr. Marinelli is under scrutiny for living in a country that many in the United States see as an adversarial power.

Russians who meet Mr. Marinelli sometimes mistake him for a political refugee from the United States, assuming he would be repressed for his antigovernment positions at home.

And back in California, he is on the defensive for accepting travel expenses and office space from a Kremlin-linked nationalist group. That acceptance has raised the prospect that Russia, after meddling in the election to try to tip the vote to Mr. Trump, as United States intelligence agencies have said, is now gleefully stoking divisions in America by backing a radical liberal movement.
    (…)
While no indications exist of a direct Russian government hand in Mr. Marinelli’s organization, a group that is nominally independent but nonetheless state financed, and supports only causes that dovetail with the Kremlin’s foreign policy, paid for a hotel room in Moscow during a congress of secessionist groups from around the world in September 2016. These included the Texas Nationalist Movement, backers of Puerto Rican independence and a group wanting to restore the Hawaiian monarchy. A Russian group, known as the Anti-Globalization Movement, which like Mr. Marinelli advocates the breakup of the United States, also offered him office space in Moscow to open an “embassy” of California in Russia, and Mr. Marinelli accepted.

Look at that list: California, Texas, Puerto Rico, Hawaii. I wouldn’t be surprised to find a trail from neo-Confederacy secessionists back to Moscow. Because why fight a UNITED States when you can potentially cause the entire country to just dissolve itself?

    • Ninja0980

Sad to say, Russia is only helping what this country has done to itself.
We haven’t been a United States of America for a long time.

Becca, I live in Texas and haven’t heard any recent “separatist” noise here. The separatist movement in Texas has been extreme right wing in the past. Not that Texas separatism being right wing would discourage Putin,

  • Anyway… I’m outta here. Gonna get drunk and watch ‘Passengers’ which arrived earlier in the week. G’nite all.

Real Time looks like a good panel, we shall see.

Sullivan becomes Sullivan at one point though.

Well dam I wanted Sullivan, Tapper and Frank on the panel.

          Me too.
Tapper didn’t even come out for Overtime so it was a bit of a let down.

      Beautiful recorders.

We’ve known this concerto for nearly 30 years. It takes me back.

It’s very effective the way they use a movement from one of his fantasias to introduce the concerto.

I’ve always found the first movement of this concerto so haunting.

        • Bryan

A great way to describe it. A haunting sound. Tenors, and deeper, for sure.

I swear, my dad played one in every octave until he finally found a good sax. Lol

      • JCF

Might ask the player to blow me, too! ;-p

Topic-adjacent (i.e. Drumpf). I haven’t seen this mentioned elsewhere @ JMG. It’s just too perfect—

    http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/white_house_lauds_article_that_says_trump_budget_will_punch_the_impoverished_in_the_face

The Trump White House sends a daily email touting its successes, the
President’s upcoming schedule, and other items of note. Included in
today’s edition of “1600 Daily” is a Washington Post article titled, “Trump’s budget makes perfect sense and will fix America, and I will tell you why.” The article is satire. The “why” includes observations like Trump’s budget will “punch the impoverished in the face.”

As many on Twitter noted, clearly no one in the White House Press Office read the article before including it.

        • billbear1961

Their efforts at it are always so ham-fisted, and always fall FLAT.

It’s called lying, hysteria and desperation.

          • billbear1961

What’s really getting to them–some of them, anyway–is the realization that they are more DESPISED than EVER.

That’s NOT what winning was supposed to be like.

            TOUGH SHIT.

May the bitterness of it eat the evil bastards up ALIVE.

He is definitely scraping the bottom of the intelligent barrel, to find people that he thinks is making him look smarter.

When your intelligence level is derived from the left over fumes in that pickle barrel, one has to look rather deep in the wood grain (known as “the devil’s cut”, in the distilling industry) to find people that fit that agenda. The ants living under that barrel are smarter than he is!

“at least 63 individuals with Russian passports or addresses have bought at least $98.4 million worth of property in seven Trump-branded luxury towers in southern Florida”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason why the First Russian of the United States flies to south Florida every single weekend.

  • JT

“There are so many things [Trump] is doing that are unconstitutional,” a protester said. “How are we going to get him out?”

“We have a lot of people looking at this,” Feinstein said.
“I think he’s going to get himself out… I think that sending his sons to
another country to make a financial deal for his company and then have
that covered with government expenses. I believe that should not be
    allowed.”

Resign? He should spend the rest of his life in prison.

    • Halou

I think his sons should spend the rest of their lives in prison.

Donald is 70 years old now so not only is he unlikely to live long enough to be convicted, he is certainly not going to see the end of his sentence. Thus alternative-punishment needs to be applied. Yes it is cruel and unusual and therefore illegal, but it is ‘alt’ so we should love it, yes?

      • JT

His spawn are guilty of crimes on their own. Treason is no doubt among them.

      • Boreal

You are correct. A more fitting punishment than prison should be applied.

There’s nothing cruel or unusual about punishing co-conspirators.

    • people looking into that? ffs it’s not like you need a PhD private investigator nobel winner to see what is going on.

post St. Patrick’s Day. From Riverside Church last night. From the same podium Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke out against the war in Vietnam. And Nelson Mandela spoke out against apartheid. Both brought to an end. And it is us, descendents of the wretched refuse that can do the same to this horrid regime. RESIST!

    • MaryJOGrady

      Thank you for posting this.
Every Irish-American should remember our heritage, the utter scorn our forebears faced.
The “Irish Channel” neighborhood in New Orleans, for example, is named for the antebellum Irish who were imported to dig canals in that fever-prone city, as Irish immigrants were considered more expendable than African-American slaves.
I read once the memoirs of a doctor who practiced medicine among the poor of New York City in the 1880’s and 1890’s. His was a heart full of charity and understanding for all, with one glaring exception: he despised the newly-arrived Irish immigrants and considered no vice or hideous crime beneath them.
Today, those of us who are proud of our genetic links to Ireland should be at the forefront of the defenders of the undocumented, the transgender, the poor and the sick, as #45 and his foul crew strive to grind them all underfoot.

      • TuuxKabin

Thank you Mary! Max Kennedy, Robert’s son, drove home how the newly and first Irish Catholic elected official, his great grandfather(?), delivered for the community. A winter coat was needed. One was found. A job. He went to the docks and found work. Granted that was ‘way back’, but that spirit to help has not diminished. The spirit last night in Riverside Church was soaring. I haven’t felt that good about being in a church since . . . well, maybe ever. Bob and I now have our Irish flag and Mexican flag on the mantle. Looks and feels good. The unity. Both of us sons of immigrant fathers. I’ll send the photo of the prayer flags we’ll be bearing for tomorrow’s rally in Battery Park, against Voter Suppression, to get Gov. Cuomo to sign into the budget, April 1, funds to remove the oppressive voting registration, rules and regulations to be more in line with this century. Liked his dad. Him, meh.

I do not understand why some Democratic senator, such as Bernie Sanders and/or Elizabeth Warren, does not put a “hold” on all appointment by the Trump administration until Hair Furor releases his tax returns. Jesse Helms used to do things like that all the time. Democrats need to begin to play hard ball.

To be fair, this statement “I have no loans in Russia. I don’t have any deals in Russia.” may actually be true. But it’s clear that title to properties BY Russians exist.
