Trump Asked About Rise In Anti-Semitism Since Election Win, Responds By Bragging About Winning [VIDEO]

Politico reports:

President Donald Trump, during a joint news conference Wednesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, bragged about his electoral college victory in the 2016 election when asked a question about an increase in anti-Semitic incidents since Trump’s political rise.

“I just want to say that we are very honored by the victory that we had, 306 electoral college votes,” Trump said. “We were not supposed to crack 220, you know that right? There was no way to 221, then they said there’s no way to 270. There was tremendous enthusiasm out there.”

  • Tawreos

Hopefully the reporter responded with “we know that dumbass now answer the question”

  • liondon#iamnotatraitor

    America… I can’t believe this guy won.

    • That_Looks_Delicious

Some of us still don’t believe it.

I knew that Trump was going to win Iowa and Ohio, so no surprise there, and Florida was going to be very close. But I still can’t wrap my head around how all the polls in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin could have been so wrong. And several voting/cybersecurity experts had noted in the months leading up to the election that Pennsylvania’s voting system was the most vulnerable of all the states to hacking. Just too suspicious to not investigate, IMO.

      • Joe in PA

And in most parts of the state…no paper back up. 🙁

      • evan_or

The polls were not wrong. The discarded/spoiled/disqualified ballots are what’s wrong. Over 600,000 this election. Add to that the gerrymandering and propaganda, et voila, all the talking heads running around fussing (incorrectly) about “How could the polls be so wrong?”

        • unsavedheathen

Gerrymandering has no effect on the Presidential vote. Zero.

          • evan_or

Disagree. No direct effect perhaps, but gerrymandering reduces the number of competitive congressional races, thereby reducing turnout.

    • Todd20036

Actually he didn’t. The electoral college failed the one time it was supposed to do its job.

      • bzrd

somehow the GrOPerz just don’t like to read the Constitution
BLOTUS reads like a third grader

      • JCF

Well, there was 2000 also (though that was more on SCOTUS, 5-4).

    • Frostbite

He didn’t win. He didn’t win the popular vote. He was put into office by the Electoral College which was bribed, threatened, blackmailed, etc. to install him into office.

      • gwhiz007

The threatening part is something that we should all spend some time thinking about. When it became more likely he’d be the guy, and he got any push back, the language got threatening. We should all be concerned about what he’d do or say to his perceived enemies if he’d be willing to do it to his allies.

    • dcurlee

Just shows a fail in our education system because republicans cut everything they have been able to

    • Treant

I remain unconvinced that he did win by any metric if you remove the direct Russian cheating.

      • Earl

I still think the Republicans helped much more than the Russians did. They were in charge of writing the election laws in many states, and in charge of drawing the electoral boundaries.

That’s not to imply that they’re any less treacherous, I’m just saying I think there’s lots of blame to go around. As always, defeat has many fathers.

        • gwhiz007

Between the voter suppression tactics (voter ID laws) and gerrymandering there was a enough to give them a marginal lead, factor in the Russian disinformation tactics and you have something…

          • unsavedheathen

How does gerrymandering affect the Presidential election?

          • JCF

It could, in Nebraska and Maine (only States which divide Electoral votes per House districts).

      • JCF

Don’t forget Comey (although I’m not yet convinced that HE was w/o Russian influence either!).

        And Rethug VOTER SUPPRESSION laws.

Citation and context AND trumps follow up comment:

Drumpf Plaza Hotel and Casino President John R. O’Donnell, in the 1991 book “Trumped,” claimed that Drumpf once said that “laziness is a trait in blacks.” Here is the full context for the statement, as described in the book. O’Donnell relates a conversation with Drumpf about a finance employee, who happens to be black and who O’Donnell believes has shortcomings.

Instantly, Donald was enthused. “Yeah, I never liked the guy. I don’t think he knows what the f––– he’s doing. My accountants up in New York are always complaining about him. He’s not responsive. And isn’t it funny, I’ve got black accountants at the Drumpf Castle and at Drumpf Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. Those are the kind of people I want counting my money. No one else.”

I couldn’t believe I was hearing this. But Donald went on, “Besides that, I’ve got to tell you something else. I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that. It’s not something they can control. … Don’t you agree?”

So this is clearly a secondhand quote, made in a private conversation and written some years after the fact. Drumpf called O’Donnell a disgruntled employee, but he initially did not dispute the remarks. “The stuff O’Donnell wrote about me is probably true,” he told Playboy in an interview published in May 1997.

        • Gil

Sorry…”responsive” is not going to be in Drumpf’s vocabulary…

    • another_steve

A handful of commenters here on JMG (including me) periodically apologize in the comment threads to all people living in other countries, concerning the horror in the White House.

We find the act of apologizing cleansing, if you will.

      Cathartic, in a sense.

      • Matt in PDX

For 8 years the GOP accused Obama (with no basis whatsoever) of constantly “apologizing for America” to the rest of the world. They vowed that if a Republican were in the White House, America would never have to apologize. The US would be respected once again.

This is the topsy-turvy world they live in.

        • Cipher

          But “Putin’s a killer,” O’Reilly said.

  • Paul David

    This guy!

He is so clearly mentally ill that it’s really not possible to ignore any longer.

It’s FUCKING FEBRUARY! You won the election! Why the FUCK are you still even talking about this?

It literally doesn’t matter at all!

Why is “our president is clearly mentally ill and/or deficient” not the biggest story in America!!!!!!

    • Todd20036

Because winning the election is his only accomplishment he can brag about to his now-dead father.

      • Paul David

No, it’s actually more basic than even that.

The fact that he lost the popular vote cuts to the core of Trump’s insecurities: that he is illegitimate and hated by a majority of the country.

The only psychological way around this, for the spoiled heir to a real estate fortune who’s accomplished largely nothing in his lifetime other than winning the lottery of being born into a rich family, is to create an alternate reality where he was “cheated” of his “true” victory…which, naturally, would be a landslide in his favor.

Trump’s entire psychology revolves are his own psychological convenience.

        • Uncle Mark

I agree it’s much of that, but I also think this is his blanket rationalization when there is any criticism of his behavior or policies. “Maybe minority groups are getting hurt, but the ‘most’ of the country voted for me.” It’s the same way W Bush used his 1% 2004 victory to claim that he had a mandate to enact any damned policy he wanted. This is why Hillary’s popular vote stings so much, because Trump must not only be the electoral winner, he needs to be the popular winner. It’s the only victory he has right now…and it’s not even a real one to even him.

    • gwhiz007

Because its all downhill from there?

  • Leo

Years from now (if we make it there) I want to be able to say to the next generation that his term felt like a bad dream we somehow recovered from.

Combined with W’s actions that precipitated this term though, I think I’m going to feel the impacts for the rest of my life. It’s just unrelentingly sad. I don’t have the energy to get mad right now.

  • HZ81

        • Hue-Man

          (US) IPA(key): /əˈmiːbə/

          amœba (plural amœbas or amœbæ)
          Alternative spelling of amoeba

          AMEBA looks bizarre to me.

          • -M-

Never seen ameba as a accepted spelling.

          • Ernest Endevor

    I think he’s stuck on a loop.

It’s what we call a glitch in the Matrix.

I heard that on the radio as I was driving. I started to shout “enough.” Next time I hope I have my wits about me so I can shout “genug.”

    This joke isn’t funny anymore.

I mean, there’s no way to engage with a person that refuses to acknowledge a given sort of reality as valid. With him its just “winning winning, use of 6 grade grammar that indicates “success” ‘, it’s all about a false sense of confidence that basically got him a position he’s nowhere near qualified for.

The man spends his time trying to invalidate anyone who has a position that runs counter to his, questioning the validity of judges, questioning the validity of the democratic process…what he fails to understand is the longer he does this as the President, the more damage he does to his actual position.

It is embarrassing to listen to him and to know he is the president of our country. Very embarrassing. What drivel comes out of his mouth when he is asked serious questions. What a narcissistic and vapid answer.

I was wondering if our illegitimate POTUS did not have the decency to mention the horrible Nazi massacre of 6 million Jews on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, what did the “alt right” man talk about while he schmoozed around with ultra bad ass Bibi Netanyahu all day?

    • J Ascher

As long as Bibi thinks he has Trump by the pussy, Trump will do his bidding.

  • SDG

    WTF???? Like… WTF?

  • JCF

I don’t think I’ve seen a single graphic that’s captured “President Trump” as well as Mark Bryan’s “The NIghtmare” [Even Cthulu is terrified!]
