Ten Nations Select Eurovision 2017 Entries [VIDEO]

The International Olympic Super Bowl Of Homosexuality And Camp, more commonly known as the Eurovision Song Contest, arrives in May and ten nations so far have selected their entries. Watch below. You’ll note that a “Celebrate Diversity” logo appears between every snippet.

This year’s contest will be held in Kiev as Ukraine won last year with their grim song about the 1944 Russian genocide of Crimeans. None of the songs chosen so far for this year’s contest appear to have a whiff of politics, but Italy’s entry features a dancing gorilla. So there’s that.

We watched the UK entry contest… all but two were awful, and the winner was ok. We thought the much more pop-oriented “Freedom Hearts” sung by the Aguilera clone was a better choice. But the one that won with Lucie Jones, if they can sort out the sound quality will be grand. Just seemed she was overpowering the sound system in places.

It doesn’t matter how good the UK entry is: everybody hates us and we won’t get any votes😢

LOL keep telling yourselves that. Germany won when everyone was supposed to hate them. Austria won after not being in the top 10 for over a decade and finishing last several times in the interim. The UK sucks in the Eurovision because the UK sends shite 9 years out of 10. When the UK sends something good they do well. Lucie should be in the top half of the scoreboard, which will be an improvement.

Oh no, you mean we’re not victims of political machinations we’re just crap? *cries*

            It’s so unfair! *sob*

Here is a clip of Lucie Jones auditioning for X Factor a few years back. (A longer clip is available, if interested, which shows the judges’ comments before and after her performance.)

Just got word from partner that it’s ok to splurge some of the money to go to London for a big party. Will have just finished university degree in engineering, and hopefully will have a job, so what better way to celebrate than gays, eurovision, and London!

A dancing gorilla? Sounds like monkey business to me.

About Italy’s song: “Occidentali’s Karma” (English: Westerners’ Karma) is a song performed by Italian singer Francesco Gabbani. It won the Sanremo Music Festival 2017 and will represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

According to Gabbani the lyrics of the song are a mockery of westerners who believe they can take Eastern cultures and “westernise” them. The song cites such Eastern ideas as Buddha and Nirvana as well as man’s evolution from the ape, the idea for which he got from reading Desmond Morris’ “The Naked Ape”.

The use of the saxon genitive in the song title and chorus is a further critique of the fashion for the anglicisation of the Italian language but originally the song was called in Latin as Occidentalis Karma (Western Karma).
