Sean Spicer: Kellyanne Conway Has Been “Counseled” For Her Ivanka Commercial And That’s It [VIDEO]

CNN reports:

Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, was “counseled” after promoting Ivanka Trump’s clothing and accessory brand during an interview from the White House Thursday morning. “Kellyanne has been counseled,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said during his daily briefing. “She’s been counseled on that subject.” Conway, in a Fox News interview from the White House, urged people to “go buy Ivanka’s stuff.”

The comments could run afoul with federal law that bars public employees from making an “endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of friends, relatives, or persons with whom the employee is affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.” It’s the latest in a string of ethics concerns raised about the Trump administration’s relationship with the family’s private businesses since he assumed office.

  • Lazycrockett

    Counseled= fat bonus.

  • Tawreos

She’s been counseled to hold up a pair of the shoes the next time she tells people to buy them.

  • Do Something Nice

And I’m guessing that Trump immediately asked the lawyers to determine how they can continue to hawk their brands without breaking the law.

    • stuckinthewoods

He’s not concerned about breaking the law.

  • boobert

No ! That is not it ! This promotion of trump business has to STOP !

  • Sam_Handwich

only because House Oversight committee sent them a letter

  • TampaDink

Counselled = advised on how to better market these products.

  • Jeffrey

But I thought she was supposed to be the counselor? Isnt that her fucking job? Don’t WE pay her?

  • Scribble Writer 🌹 ☭

Somebody needs to counsel Sean Spicer’s jaw in the same manner that Richard Spencer’s got counseled on inauguration day

  • Ragnar Lothbrok

Someone sent her a stern tweet ?

  • Gigi

Conway is a lawyer who violated a federal law. She knew what she was doing was wrong. She needs to be fined at the very least.

    • CB

      Dare to dream.

    • disbarred?

    • canoebum

Can she be disbarred? That would be a good start.

  • Rick

  • Halou

By who? In what way? Will she apologize? Will she suffer any real-world consequences whatsoever?

Sorry Spice-Reich, but that’s just not fucking good enough.

  • Lars Littlefield

I won’t forgive her until they cut off her left arm as punishment. Nothing less.

    • charemor

Actually, I would prefer that someone cut out her tongue.

  • Robert Anthony

She’s been counseled, and while we’re drawing attention to this offense that will be overlooked, we’re pleased to announce for a limited time Ivanka designs are buy one, get one free.

    • Todd20036

I don’t think anyone I know would even want the free one. And that includes people who voted for Drumpf

    • Uncle Mark

That reminds me…my Trump-loving, older sister has a birthday coming up in 2 weeks. I’m going to give her a gift card to Nordstroms

      • John30013

        You’re a nasty, nasty person.

        Come sit by me πŸ™‚

  • Rex

Her fashion crimes alone would warrant it!

    • Bryan

Have you seen those dresses? Sheesh!

  • Rebecca Gardner

Imagine if a Democrat did this?

The GOP would have 10,000 hearings and spend $1.1 Billion dollars to get to the bottom of it.

      That’s why they win elections.

She’s safe from the pissant, being much too old. However, is she bringing her daughter with her?

  • Timothy W.

Not to worry! Tomorrow is Friday so the administration will issue a controversial sweeping executive order in the usual cut and run fashion and we will forget about this violation

    • Jeffg166

That seems to be their strategy.

  • Silver Badger

Boy! I bet she has a sore wrist now! That’ll teach her!

    • Halou

It’s okay to kill Muslims because Obama.
Since when did that make sense?

      • Todd20036

        Since forever in Redneckinstein

    • Gigi

Defending the indefensible. Disgusting. If the killer had been Muslim, not a Trump supporter, and he’d gunned down six christians, Trump would have been all over it.

      • Halou

Some of the terrorist attacks he says the media didn’t devote enough coverage to, they weren’t even terrorist attacks. Like one in Saudi Arabia where nobody died and the police were merely arresting someone for unrelated reasons and two American citizens just happened to be in the vicinity.

It was such a non-event that nearly no news source outside of the town in which the incident took place reported on it. But Trump stands up and demands wall to wall coverage of it, day after day, making the case that because the person being arrested was Muslim then their crime, whatever it was, must have been religiously motivated.

        • Gigi

The Pulse nightclub massacre was on his list. Nuff said.

          • Halou

            Too true.
Perhaps because the media, in actually following the story, also caught sight of some American pastors applauding the killer and saying he didn’t kill enough gay people, thus taking away from the “Emagherd! Muslims!!!” theme and the demonizing of an entire religion to such a degree that vigilantism becomes a thing.
They want violent mobs to roam the streets and they want the media to be the inciting agents for that. That’s what they mean when they say the stories weren’t given ‘appropriate coverage’ or whatever the term is that they use.

        • TimCA

Like this one in Australia. Police said “there was no indication the assault was motivated by extremism”.

Edited to add quote from the article:

“The mother of a backpacker slain in an Australian hostel wrote an open letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, rejecting the decision to label her daughter’s death as a terror attack.”

    • Acronym Jim

And demostrably untrue. President Obama put out a statement decrying the shooting of two police officers in Des Moines, Iowa.

      • John30013

In any case, didn’t Drumpf say he was going to unite “all” people? How does stupid-ass Santorum square Drumpf’s own words with his statement?

    • NZArtist
    • Uncle Mark

I sent an email to CNN the moment I saw they hired Santorum’s smug, weaselly ass. Whenever, he’s on any broadcast of their’s the channel is immediately changed. If enough of us do that, then Santorum will be forced to go out and find a real job, and we won’t have to suffer his lies anymore.

    • The_Wretched

They lie so reflexively. Every bad act of theirs is done by Obama.

  • another_steve

    Hang ‘er.

  • James

To be strictly fair, being “counseled” is the first step for something like this. Of course, had it been another administration she’d have been given a swift and public rebuke and told to apologize.

    • Tor

If it had been another administration, it would not have happened.

  • Kelly Lape

Was the President “counseled” for his tweet that damaged Nordstrom? Who counseled him?

    • T-Batwoman

How much do you want to bet the board of directors at Nordstrom’s voted for the douche nozzle?

  • TimCA

Where are the questions about the Putin – Trump scandal?

    • The_Wretched

Down the memory hole. The media is still largely obedient. The occasional flares of decency die down pretty fast.

  • boobert
  • SFBruce

What a relief! I was afraid they’d just let it slide. But will it go on her permanent record?

  • They warned Kellyanne that if she does it again they will restrict her embalming fluid top-offs to just one per week.

  • Jeffg166

    It’s OK yadda, yadda, yadda…

  • Jason

    Lock her up

  • Michael R

I really want the GOP to be punished for how blatantly they violate ethics laws. It is simply not acceptable.

    • NZArtist

Punished by whom? Anyone who would or could has been taken over by Republicans. There’s no-one left to do the punishing. It’s now just a circle-jerk of evil people congratulating each other on how evil they can be and how badly they can fuck you over.

  • HeyBudBoston

Of course she knew what she was doing. ALL THIS IDIOCY IS TO DEFLECT WHAT THEY ARE REALLY DOING.

  • Counseled: “Ya done good, Kellyanne, promoting Ivanka’s lame Chinese knockoff fashion products, and the rubes will rush out and buy the shit out of them…but next time, don’t be so obvious as to call it a ‘free commercial.’ Seems that’s technically illegal.”

    • Johnny Wyeknot

      Just what I was thinking.

    • Gianni

I agree, she likely got a hug and a pat on the ass from Donny, himself. It was likely suggested that next time she be much less obvious and more subtle.

  • canoebum

Yeah, and Hillary was counseled on use of a private email server, but that didn’t stop the House Government Oversight Committee, under the beneficent direction of Jason Chaffetz, from holding YEARS of hearings on the matter, spending millions of taxpayer dollars in pursuit of criminal charges, did it? I guess it’s ok if you’re a Republican. Counseling is good enough. Nothing to see here, folks. Move along.

    • NZArtist

If the Democrats had one testicle, ovary, or other motivation-inducing-gland amongst them, come their time in power they’d spend every moment prosecuting these crimes.
Unfortunately it would all be “We’re looking forward, not back. We’re not so petty as to blah blah fucking blah”

  • JW Swift

Hell, the bankers fucked-up the entire economy and never got punished, so this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

  • Cuberly

ScamWay has been a DC insider for decades.

Gee, she didn’t know she was fucking up when she did her little mini commercial?

    Believability factor = 0

  • andrew

Kellyanne should be “counseled” on the immorality of lying. Trump should not be the counselor.

  • GayOldLady

I told y’all. A slap on the wrist for what amounts to free advertising for Ivanka on Faux News. Of course most of the Faux News viewers are low brows who can’t afford anything that tRump and his wicked progeny have to offer. This will hurt her products and all of tRump brands more than it will help them. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

  • Why hasn’t Drumpf been counseled for the same thing?

  • Kevin Perez

So the White House Councillor ( no really, that’s her title ) was counseled. By who?

    • Johnny Wyeknot

      Her husband.

  • Brian in Valdosta

Hold up. What Ms Conway was clearly a breach of ethics and it is right to reprimand her.

But … she only did something that the Presidunce himself did, only he did it via his umpteen millionth Tweet !!! What about CENSURING and REPRIMANDING him for his incessant missteps and violations?!

  • Chrissy

Have an idea. When all the Trump stuff is in bargain bin. We should buy it at the heavy discount and give to the homeless. Make her brand associated with poverty.

    • Johnny Wyeknot

Hey, homeless people have feelings too. That would be too mean.

    • MBear

Home less people need clothing that is durable & useful against the elements. That shit is designed to self destruct at the end of the season

    • David Milley

The way things are going, the Trump brand will soon enough be irrevocably associated with poverty, everywhere.

  • aar9n

When I attended church the exact same thing happened when the worship leader raped a minor. He was counseled and prayed over by the congregation and we were warned that he had been forgiven and counseled and that was that and we weren’t to speak to anyone about it.

The girl of course was kicked out of the church for “being a whore”

    • Gianni

Even back in ancient times, religious leaders knew how to do and get what they wanted from the believers. They’ve always known how to guide and control the flock what with the anger of the gods hanging over their heads. And once a sinner is deemed forgiven, who would want to stand against a god’s decision to forgive? Not a faithful follower, for sure!

  • BlindBill

I imagine that every interview fox does with the Propaganda Minister will start off with a “who are you wearing?”

  • penpal

These fuckers just protect their own. She probably broke the law and the damage is done. Prosecute her. Oh, and impeach her boss.

  • thesunnysideofthestreet

Good news everyone! You blew up the planet Omicron 6 on your last mission and your counseling is going to be today.

  • Benny S.

This whole Kellyanne situation seems to have also given the GOP side of Congress an opportunity to object to these “ethical antics” (cue manufactured horror and disgust by the GOP). I can’t help but wonder if the GOP will be keeping score on these “Trumpethic” actions as a way to eventually initiate impeachment against the president (remember, the GOP is in total control now), making way for Pence to take over sometime before the next presidential election cycle. It would be an evangelical and Republican wet dream to have Pence replace Trump long before 2020, provided Trump doesn’t have the opportunity to get revenge by pushing “a button” first.

  • DonnaLee

But he didn’t say PERIOD, so it doesn’t count. Only if he says “And that’s it. PERIOD!” does it count!
