Russian Town Wants To Name Street For Trump

Hair Furor Highway? CNN reports:

The incoming U.S. president is popular in Russia, in part for his praise of Vladimir Putin, and one town is looking for a way to honor Donald Trump. Many in the town of Ryazan, about 150 miles outside Moscow, are hoping for a thaw in U.S.-Russian relations and pinning those hopes on President-elect Trump.

Sergey Bizyukin has started a petition to rename a little street after Trump. He says almost 300 have signed so far. “Some saw it as a joke and signed because it was fun. Some stood for normalization of US-Russia ties, and some signed because they don’t like the current name of the street,” Bizyukin said.

Right now the street is called “Godless” – a holdover from communism, which rejected religion. The name change campaign’s slogan is “Make Ryazan great again.”
