RUSSIA: Kremlin Slams Obama’s “Unjustified And Illegal” Expulsion Of Diplomats, Vows Reciprocal Action

RT.com reports:

The new US sanctions against Russia are another manifestation of the unpredictable and aggressive foreign policy by the Obama administration, Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin press-secretary, said. “In our point of view such actions of the US current administration are a manifestation of an unpredictable and even aggressive foreign policy,” Peskov told the journalists. “We regret the fact that this decision was taken by the US administration and President Obama personally,” he stressed.

“As it said before, we consider this decision and these sanctions unjustified and illegal under international law,” the presidential spokesman added. The US restrictions won’t be left unanswered by Moscow, Peskov said, promising “adequate, reciprocal” reaction “that will deliver significant discomfort to the US side in the same areas.” However, he added that “there’s no need to rush” with the countermeasures against Washington.

And that’s another thing. The teabaggers think sucking up to Putin is diplomacy.

One of the biggest terrorists since that idiot in Syria, and suddenly the tea baggers are ok with it because it’s Trump making nice-nice with putin

      Thanks for the much-needed LOL!

The US as a sovereign state has every right to order diplomats out of the country, so how is it illegal asshat?

    • Todd20036

      It’s not. They’re butt hurt.
Bet the US diplomats couldn’t give a fig about leaving that shitty country

    • vorpal

It’s not, but the alt-right will eat it up and believe it like it was gospel and appropriately freak out.

As Todd said, the US diplomats are probably packing their bags and hoping to leave that dismal hell hole.

      • TrollopeReader

but GUM !! There isn’t a GUM dept. store over here !!

This is Putin’s set so Trump can spike and come off like a diplomatic hero.

So it’s illegal under international law but they’ll do the same in kind? Ok then.

Maybe Santa’s there because of that asshole christian “pastor” in Texas who screamed at families with kids in line at the mall to see Santa that Santa Claus is fake. Jesus, the irony…

Go ahead, Russia, retaliate against us, and let Trump look even more ridiculous than he already is.

Aggressive? Like invading Ukraine and bombing Aleppo?

    • Phillip in L.A.

Just wait until US “foreign policy” *REALLY* becomes unpredictable–on January 20, 2017.

  • bambinoitaliano

The way the Trump and GOP is going, I rather the Obama administration take us back to the Cold War period. It’s better to have a define enemy than having the traitors working against the US within.

ah, so that’s where Katrina Pierson went …

  • Barry William Teske

It is beginning to look a lot like Putin actually knows nothing about internationanal law.

    • Phillip in L.A.

Mr Putin’s knowledge of international law can be summed up in the following Russian phrase: “власть делает правду” [vlast’ delaet pravdu]–“Might makes right”!

    • Bluto

Putin doesn’t give a shit about international law.

      • Barry William Teske

        Hence the not knowing part…

  • Halou

Russia lost the right to complain about anything to do with “aggressive foreign policy” and “international law” back in 2008, and only further reinforced that fact by what it did in 2014.
The sanctions are well deserved and long overdue. If anything, Russia should be grateful that the west has limited it’s actions to sanctions and not responded to real aggression by resorting to the entirely justified and legal means commonly known as “return fire”.

  • danolgb

Can we also stop treating RT.com as an impartial new source. They’re Russian state-owned media and people should be reminded of that constantly.

  • Phillip in L.A.

The BBC’s reporting on this story also includes this line:

“Russian intelligence compounds in New York and Maryland will be closed.”

WTF? Does the US have “intelligence compounds” (other than our Embassy and Consulates–perhaps this is what BBC meant?) in Russia?

  • MonochromeMouse

It’s cute that he thinks America needs Russia. The entire country could disappear overnight and the rest of the world probably wouldn’t notice.

    • Halou

The west felt nothing when Russia had the 1991 Soviet breakup, and again when they had the 1998 financial meltdown.

  • JellyDonut

Putin will be calling his puppet to the carpet on this. Trump will surly come out with a tirade of tweets following this.

I can hardly wait to hear Andrea Mitchell’s thoughts on this and how it ties into Hillary’s email scandal.

“emails from HRC’s private server were found to be on the Russian “Intelligence” compounds server in The Bronx. msnbc have determined through deep reporting, that The Bronx is next to Brooklyn, which is where Hillary Clinton’s ill-fated campaign was headquartered. This is more than mere coincidence. Andrea Mitchell “reporting” live ….. “

  • Mike in Texas

He’s getting to be a whiney as that Brian fellow from NOM.

    • TrollopeReader

he likes Russia and Putin, too … *sigh*

  • DesertSun59

I’ll bet that one of the very first things Trump does is invite Putin to visit him in the WH.

  • Henry Auvil

I’m sure trump can clean up this mess. As his ghostwriter can attest, he’s the master of the “Art of the Deal”. Heaven help us…

  • Gianni

Not to worry. Trump will undo all this on starting on 21 Jan ’17. Almost a certainty that he’s already been in touch with Pooty assuring him not to be too upset. Things will be back to normal soon.

  • rednekokie

Hmmmm. Spoken like a true rethuglican.

  • J Ascher

If there’s no hurry to retaliate, why make a fuss about it? Russia must know it’s guilty.

  • JCF

“The US restrictions won’t be left unanswered by Moscow, Peskov said, promising “adequate, reciprocal” reaction”

There’s no other way to say this: YOU STARTED THIS, Putin. Obama’s actions today ARE the “‘adequate, reciprocal’ reaction”.

  • Ore Carmi

Ugh! Does this mean war? This is like an eye for an eye for an eye… Is this all really necessary? With someone as dangerous as Putin on the other side?
