Netanyahu Tags Trump’s Kids In “Thank You” Tweet

Says it all, doesn’t it? The Washington Post reports:

President-elect Donald Trump tweeted messages Wednesday showing his support for Israel and accusing President Obama of making inflammatory statements and damaging relations between Israel and the United States. Trump tweeted that he could no longer allow Israel to be treated with disdain and urged Israel to “stay strong” until he takes office on Jan. 20.

In response Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted: “President-elect Trump, thank you for your warm friendship and your clear-cut support for Israel!” The tweet included Israeli and U.S. flags and tagged two of Trump’s children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump Jr.

The messages came hours before Secretary of State John F. Kerry was scheduled to give a speech outlining the Obama administration’s vision for resolving the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. On Friday, the United States, in a break with a long-standing policy, decided not to use its veto power to prevent the passage of a United Nations Security Council resolution criticizing Israeli settlements.

    ..shocked face goes here..

  • crewman

Netanyahu (and by extension, Israel) is pursuing a dangerous path by tying it’s relationships to one party only. Do they think that party will be in power forever? And do they think Democrats will forget how we’re being treated?

    • clay

Netanyahu doesn’t see any gain in any long-term strategy at this point.

      • gaymex1

He’s an old man. There’s no “me” in a long-term strategy. These old white boys need to go.

      • ByronK

I’m not sure he’s ever had a long-term strategy other than to block all avenues for peace and a two-state solution.

        • clay

          that’s not a long-term strategy

          • ByronK

But he’s been acting like it is.

    • timncguy

Democrats aren’t very good at payback. For a good example, watch them for the next 4 years. Especially in the Senate. They won’t obstruct nearly as expertly as the Republicans do.

      • MonochromeMouse

Yup, it’s going to take massive civil disobedience to get anything done for the next four years, the few democrats in the senate and house likely won’t have the spine to stand up to Trump so it will be up to the people to refuse to follow any laws he passes that they disagree with.

    • Do Something Nice

Yep: “Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told New Zealand’s foreign minister that support for a UN resolution condemning Israeli settlement-building in the occupied territories would be viewed as a “declaration of war”.”

    • j.martindale

A lot of Democrats have a big Jewish constituency. Many are Zionists, and most are very protective of Israel. The Democratic politicians are not uniformly concerned with fairness in the mideast.

    • Mike__in_Houston

      “Yes” to question two.

  • Sam_Handwich

Kerry is telling Israelis exactly what they need to hear. Isolationism is a stupid path to take.

    • gaymex1

      …especially given their location.

    • Cipher

There is a serious demographic issue. Israel as a Jewish state will never exist if the right wing insists on absorbing most of the West Bank- unless the Palestinians somehow disappear. There is no end to discord.

      • Rambie

I’m sure having the Palestinians “disappear” is high on Netanyahu’s task list.

  • clay

Uhm, children without official position making deals in their head-of-state father’s name? Seems like Israel would know how that’s likely to turn out.

    • Michael R

Did he just totally slam Jared Kushner ?

  • timncguy

If Clinton did 1/10 of the crap Trump has done since election day she would be pilloried by the media every day at the top of every newscast and on the front page of every newspaper. But, not Trump. The media will not take him on. They’re afraid of him.

    • Gerry Fisher

He’s good entertainment. People tune in to watch the circus.

      • Rex

When do the elephants trample the clowns? That’s what I’m waiting for.

        • clay

Surprise! this time the clown might trample the elephants!

      • truckproductions

that’s not true. millions of americans really do support this guy. They don’t care about his antics or his backpedaling etc. They see him taking a “hard stand” for america. They really do believe they are constantly under attack and islam is the main culprit. They are scared. they want an authoritarian figure to stroke their heads and tell them that daddy’s gonna take care of you.

    • AJ Drew

Ermm… click-bait rules, fear or not.

    • greenmanTN

Don’cha know? Idiotic and moronic behavior is “good TV,” while all that policy stuff is a major downer and requires too much attention.

No kidding, I went to the liquor store last night, and the woman behind the counter said something about supporting Trump. I didn’t make it out of the parking lot before I turned around and went back in. I went back in said “I’m gay, and I have good reason, given the people Trump is appointing to to be scared of what is going to happen.” She gave me this watery BS about things being better and “I said, check back with me in four years and let’s just see.”

I may have spent my last dime there.

        • gaymex1

That’s what I thought as well.

Trump will eventually piss off Netanyahu and Israel, as he will most of the world. It’s only a matter of time.

    • Sam_Handwich

he can quickly patch things up by ordering a bagel from Trump Grill and tweeting a picture

        I love my Jews.

I honestly can’t figure out what the hell is going on with Israel at the moment, unless its just Bibi being a total asshole cause he feels slighted. The Obama administration has been the closest and most helpful towards Israel than most others even if Barack and Bibi don’t get along.

    • BearEyes

      Bibi being a total asshole
      slighted – optional

That’s ok Netanyahu, Trump will fail you like he has everyone in his past.

The Sepulcher Room itself would make a nice bar and poolroom hangout.

    • geoffalnutt

      And Casino.

        That’s ‘First Pole Dancer’, actually.

  • Dwight Williamson

Netanyahu is a big cry baby. There does need to be a Palestinian homeland. After all Britain and the Americans shoehorned the Jews into the Middle l East because of all the atrocities they suffered in WW2. Knowing how hard life is with no land to claim as your own , it would seem the Israelis would understand the need for parity. The Israelis do not own Jerusalem it belongs to the worldwide community.

  • AJ Drew

hmm… Ivanka and DT jr, but not Eric, and perhaps more surprisingly, not Jared. Jared supposedly has DT’s ear, and is Jewish, and yet no hashtag for him. Well, then again, no hashtag for DT himself, which is odd, yes?

That’s pocket change. I’ve more than that in my wallet. And it’s not even payday

  • Bared Bear

An Israeli Prime Minister and a Putin-puppet dictator beloved by Nazis walk into a bar… sounds like a bad joke setup.

sounds like a William Burroughs Hunter S. Thompson novel setup.

“After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say ‘I want to see the manager.'”
        — William S. Burroughs

        • Curieux Bleu

The ‘manager’ is just down Bethlehem Way at the outskirts, in a whitewash shed. You’ll hear the oxen lowing, and see 3 visitors with tall pointy white hoods getting off their white camels bearing homo-age sacrifices in exchange for Magi oil rights, swearing allegiance to the new King, resting their palms on his holy play book, Mein Kampf.

And doG saw it verily and Lo and Behold, his mouthpiece Tony Perkins pronounced it ‘The Adoration’.

Hey wait a second- what about TiffanyTrump or BartonTrump????

  • Acronym Jim

Netanyahoo’s mistaken belief of what constitutes liberal ideology and his paranoia were on full display when Bill Maher interviewed him for a segment of Real Time.

Maher made a joke at the expense of terrorists. The audience laughed and clapped prompting Netanyahoo to exclaim “they are applauding terrorists?”

You could see Maher literally dumbstruck for a moment before telling his guest “they were laughing at the terrorists, not with them.”

God help both the Israeli people AND the Palestinians.

    • Bared Bear

Gah. I didn’t know that he was such a Dubya.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

Dear Netanyahu, this is not a monarchy. Also if you think the people who voted for Obama & HIllary are going to forget your distasteful fawning and blatant partisanship, you will be pining for the good old days of having Obama.

  • ryan charisma

    seems perfectly normal.

  • Ninja0980

He’s an asshole, simple as that.

  • Trump is such a great friend of Israel that a huge number of his supporters want to send all the American Jews there!

  • bkmn

I fear that Trump won’t be aware of Bibi screwing the US over until it is too late.

    • ByronK

I think this is where Trump’s narcissism and desperate need for approval becomes dangerous. He will fold to any requests if they are accompanied by flattery and praise. Like a trained dog that can be used to attack on command in exchange for treats, a pat on the head, and a few “good boy!”s.

  • Richard B

There will be no peace in the Middle East while the antagonist Netanyahu is running Israel. If Trump empowers Netanyahu with our support and a two state solution is off the agenda, I fear the United States will be targeted for more terrorist attacks.

  • Skeptical_Inquirer

I think that this tweet should be forwarded to every Neo Nazi follower of Trump. Many of them threw a hissy fit just over Trump tweeting Happy Hannukah.

  • Guest

Sometimes I wonder if everything is on the verge of collapse. How is this acceptable even to his own party, as vile as they all are, when it threatens the protocol which is essential for a functioning government?

  • caphillprof

I’m getting Netanyahu and Putin confused.

  • Halou

Trump and Netinyahu together are more likely to guarantee the destruction of Israel than it’s survival, their war hawking Islamophobia is dangerous and they don’t even see it. All the world’s most aggressive antisemites are behind them for a reason.

  • Kelly Lape

If only Israel knew the only reason these Nazi’s like them is so God can destroy their nation as part of their delusional religious doctrine.

  • BlindBill

Well now it is clear which son don-the-con was referring to when he called his own son a “retard”

  • justmeeeee

So what should the Jew-hating white supremacists do now? They don’t know WHAT the fuck to think!

  • Phil in FLL

Bibi is forgetting something. When deciding whether to side with Israel or Syria, Trump will always stick with his BFF, Vladimir Putin, and Putin’s ally, Syria, which is no friend of Israel. Trump also knows that his “coalition” of American voters cannot stand with nothing more than traditional, mainstream Republicans. The Trump coalition also includes white nationalist or white identitarian voters who like Russians just fine (because they are part of the greater European family), but they are not so wild about Israeli Jews.

My prediction is that Trump will give the Israelis purely symbolic candy treats (like votes in the U.N.), sort of like how he condescends to Bible-believing Christians with all that “Merry Christmas” bullshit. However, Trump will put the real money behind whomever will suit his own purposes. Trump has stated many times that he is “a big fan of the Kurds” and that he likes Putin. I think that an independent Kurdistan is months away rather than years away. As far as the progressive values that this blog presumably highlights, Putin is a net negative and the Kurds are a net positive, so it’s a mixed bag.

  • JellyDonut

The KKK is not gonna be pleased….be careful they may boycott the inauguration then who ya got to watch that pig fest?

Trump and Netanyahoo – it has gotten really smarmy, really dripping with honey.

Good thing there’s that impregnable wall between Da Kidz of Trump Org, and the President-(S)elect, huh?
