Electoral Revolt Fizzles, Trump Glides To Easy Win

Politico reports:

Donald Trump swept aside a last-ditch bid to block his ascension to the White House on Monday, officially claiming the title of president-elect with his Electoral College victory.

Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton follows a desperate and unprecedented attempt by Democratic electors to foment a revolt by convincing Republican electors to vote against him, an effort that collapsed with little to show for it. Just two of the 306 Republican electors, both from Texas, ultimately cast a ballot against Trump.

One was Chris Suprun, who announced his intentions in a New York Times op-ed on Dec. 5, and voted for Ohio Gov. John Kasich. Another Texas elector voted for Ron Paul, the former Texas congressman who ran unsuccessfully for president several times. Ironically, it was the 36 other Republican electors in Texas who pushed Trump over the threshold to clinch his Electoral College victory.

Seven Democratic electors attempted to vote against Hillary but were replaced by state officials.

I know it’s a mater of taste, but I’ve never been a fan of Wagner. Also, Brunhilde spent her time being so much of a whiney bitch, I’d have added petrol to her immoliation, just to make sure she was gone.

          • David in Tucson

I know Wagner is not everyone’s cup of tea. I see Brünnhilde as on the one hand trapped in the world of how women were seen in the 19th century. On the other hand, she stands up to Wotan, and actually breaks through his stubbornness at least enough to moderate what he has planned for her. And at the end, she is the one who has the sense to listen to the Rhinemaidens and untie the knot created by male ego and end the curse of the Ring.

How much this helps with the fruit of our electoral process, I don’t know. But I thought there was something apocalyptic about the dizzying sequence of key changes at the end of this opera as one world collapses and, perhaps, another begins.

          • JCF

But the point of Gotterdammerung is that one world ends, so that another can be born? Well, I like that interpretation anyway.

  • Bill_Perdue

Why the Democrats lost and why it makes no difference at all.

The Democrats, who were once the ‘majority’ party and able, as late as 2008, to capture both houses and the WH are now a tattered and bankrupt party.

Their program of maintaining the rule, wealth and political power of the rich, wars of aggression, the pauperization of the working class, union busting, the environment, institutionalized racism, and in particular police racism, immigrant bashing, pro-LGBTQ anti-discrimination legislation and attacks on the Bill of Rights are indistinguishable from their Republican allies. And that, combined with working class distrust and disgust over their years of bipartisan efforts to gut the standard of living of the working class, is why they lost the House in 2010, then Senate in 2014 and now the WH in 2016.

Similar trends occurred in the EU in England, Greece and for the same reasons. Reformist parties in capitalist nations are continuing to march to the right and continuing pay a heavy price for it, something that François Hollande’s Parti Socialiste is about to find out in the next round of French elections.
What is clear, is that large sections of the British working-class voted for Brexit. Xenophobia was an important part of this picture, no doubt. First and foremost, however, it must be seen as a reaction to a policy that systematically and with few exceptions has undermined wages and working conditions, trade union and social rights for workers. This is the result both of EU policies and of the aggressive neoliberal policies that have been conducted by British governments. Workers’ massive support for Brexit was therefore more than anything a protest against ‘the Establishment’. Those who had lost most as a result of the neoliberal policies, gave the elite a slap in the face.http://www.socialistproject.ca/bullet/1315.php#continue

The election of Trump, the world most odious peddler, based on archaic and anti-democratic laws, will provide a focus for the self-organization of the far right but most of Trumps policies will be indistinguishable from those expressed by H Clinton and the majority of Democrats. Some ‘progressive’ Democrats like to pretend that they’re to the left of the Clinton/Obama majority, but until they leave and move left, they’re just pretending.

Under the Trump regime we’re going to see more wars like Obama’s, more union busting like H Clintons, more pauperization like B Clintons, a rush towards environmental disaster like Obamas, more deportations like Obama’s and a continued refusal to pass ENDA when it can become law.

The only political tendency that can effectively oppose Trump are the revolutionary socialist left, the union left and the reviving leftist/nationalist movements among people of color and in the left wings of the women’s and LBGTQ movements.

Don’t put fingers in Christ’s mouth (to use a metaphore!)! And!… if you look at the statues during at the time of Christ, the figures depicting real people actually had SHORT HAIR! And St. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11: 14:… “Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him,…” [NIV] But!… then Paul ends by stating in verse 16:… “If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.” [NIV] In other words, although Paul offered what he did in 1 Corinthians 11: 14, he then indicated that the church had no “practice rules (if you will!)” for those who may desire to be contentious about the matter!
            .
My point being!… as Paul was– CLEARLY!– a follower of Jesus Christ, if Christ actually had LONG HAIR, don’t you think that Paul would have “checked himself” before offering up his comments in 1 Corinthians 11: 14? Don’t you think that he would be consistent in his provision of guidance to others, re the appearance of the believer before the world?… i.e., in knowing full well what his Lord actually practiced, in the way of “public appearance”!
            .
And lastly, in Isaiah 53: 2 we find a prophesied description of the Messiah who would come into the world… and which reads: “He grew up before Him (i.e., the Lord God!) like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He (Jesus) had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” In other words, He probably wouldn’t have landed a job in Hollywood as a “lead actor”!… as He was an “unattractive man”!… at least, in the “eyes” of the world! And!… BY DESIGN!… as He was to live His life on earth, as an “average soul”!
            .
Now… the foregoing having been said, I understand your “need” to provide a “witty retort” to Bill_Perdue! Nevertheless, it’s based upon stereotypical depictions which convey misleading info! And no!… I don’t need a repeat of your “message”!
            .
            Please!… no emails!

The numbers will continue to change but “According to the United States Election Project, nearly half of eligible voters (46.9 percent of approximately 231,556,622 people) did not vote in the 2016 election. And while not the lowest voter turnout in history (that honor goes to the 1996 election between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole, with 49 percent of eligible Americans abstaining from voting), the numbers are much lower than they were in both 2012 and 2008, particularly among Democrats. http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/a8265143/almost-half-eligible-voters-did-not-vote-election-2016/

          • Bill_Perdue

Trump = Clinton. And it makes no difference. Most people have figured that out. You never will.

“A new scientific study from Princeton researcher Martin Gilens and Northwestern researcher Benjamin I. Page has finally put some science behind the recently popular argument that the United States isn’t a democracy any more. And they’ve found that in fact, America is basically an oligarchy.

Comparing the preferences of the average American at the 50th percentile of income to what those Americans at the 90th percentile preferred, as well as the opinions of major lobbying or business groups, the researchers found out that the government followed the directives set forth by the latter two much more often. It’s beyond alarming.

As Gilens and Page write, ‘the preferences of the average American appear to have only a minuscule, near-zero, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.’ In other words, their statistics say your opinion literally does not matter.” https://mic.com/articles/87719/princeton-concludes-what-kind-of-government-america-really-has-and-it-s-not-a-democracy#.JFsaGXuFO

When #BlackLivesMatter activists inquired of her inner feelings, Clinton lectured them “about what she believed was their flawed strategy” and “told them to change laws and policies, not minds.” Clinton’s record is clear: “Her racist and anti-working class policies have ruined countless lives.”http://www.blackagendareport.com/category/who-dat/hillary-clinton

            Lemme summarize YOUR own arguments:
Vote for 3rd party = Vote for 4th party = …. = not Voting = No vote for Clinton
            =
            VOTE FOR TRUMP in reality
In short, after 1000 posts here, you arrived at my initial point. thanks for making it clearer

          • Bill_Perdue

Trump = Clinton. A vote for either is an endorsement of their shared racism, their shared history of busting unions and their warmongering.

          • FAEN

So who did you vote for?

          • Bill_Perdue

Unlike you I didn’t vote for a rabid racist, a warmonger and a scab.

I’m against racism, wars of aggression and union busting.

Clinton voters like you and Trump endorse racism, wars and poverty.

You absolutely voted for Trump. It fits your cowardly nature.

The way to get change is to fight the twin right wing parties, the Democrats and your Republican allies.

oh teach me. WHO SHOULD I VOTE FOR?

      • band

Bitch, your numbers are as outdated as your worldview. That Cosmo article you’re linking to and quoting? it’s from November 10th, and it involved a lot of projections.

But we now have certified ballot counts from every state, and they paint a different picture.

60% of the voting-eligible population cast a ballot in the November elections.

And 58.9% of the voting-eligible population cast a vote in the presidential race.

        http://www.electproject.org/2016g

So, it’s a far cry from the 51% your Cosmo article was reporting. BTW do you read Cosmo a lot, Bill?

        • Bill_Perdue

Band, the self loather who opposed marriage equality quibbles. I said the number would change – that have and they will continue to change.

          • band

Sweetie, this wasn’t a case of “the number WOULD change.” The number HAD changed. The final tallies were in weeks ago. Yet you chose to go with a report from Cosmo from right after the election. Why? Because the outdated, incorrect numbers suited an erroneous assertion you wanted to try and make.

            Douchebag move.

      • Kate

Corruption in politics is why we voted for Trump.

Pay to play? Million dollar “gifts” for Bill’s Birthday? Special access for “Friends of Bill” and other foundation donors?

It doesn’t get more “entrenched Washington cronyism” than Hillary Rodham Clinton.

        • David L. Caster

Just hide and watch. You’ll learn soon enough. Trump will be the very instrument by which that “cronyism” you think you avoided with the election of Don the Con will come fully into power.

Please don’t come crying to us when that happens, we will be too busy trying to do something about it.

This is a point that is often missed.

      • Kate

        “It wasn’t about non-voters”

No, it wasn’t. It was about states, and Trump won more states, more delegates, and more counties.

Paging Bill Purdue! Please enjoy your Trump

      • Bill_Perdue

The racism, warmongering and union busting of the Democrats elected Trump, but not to worry, socialist aren’t idiots or cowards. We know how to fight against the right. We learned it fighting you.

We’ll win against Trump while you cower.

        • Goggles

Guy, I support the DSA, but there are maybe 50k socialists scattered across the entire US, and even then largely concentrated in NY and CA, just like the Dems. There’s no secret bloc just waiting in the wings to smash capitalism.

There’s a good reason Bernie Sanders and the DSA primarily work through influencing the Democratic party. The US electoral system effectively doesn’t allow for viable third parties except in the rarest of races. A strong socialist party would just cannibalize the Dems and vice versa to ensure neither would ever win an election against the GOP, which will unify consistently (as clearly demonstrated with Trump).

I’m no fan of Clinton, but sometimes the vote isn’t about who you want to lead but who you’d rather fight: the opponent with the gun or the one with two broken arms. Under a Clinton presidency, the Our Revolution folks and the like could have continued to grow in relative safety to influence and challenge the Dem establishment. Now they may have a chance to take the Dem reigns amid a complete national fucktastrophe, but the GOP stands probably as good a chance of converting the country to a generation of complete one-party rule instead, assuming the country doesn’t Balkanize in the process.

Voting third party is almost always a terrible strategy in American elections but especially so in this instance.

    • Todd20036

I am so staying out of the Washington Post forums. I do not need to read the unintelligent bigoted gloating the theofascists will be doing.

      • thatotherjean

But the gloating will stop and reality, or something nearer to it than they now believe, will set in when Trump does something that damages them, too. I don’t think it will take all that long to happen.

        • Goggles

That’s been my observation on Twitter as of late, though I’m sure it will surge temporarily following this and again following the inauguration. In threads devoted to grief and hysterics, however merited they might be, a few trolls will surface. In steely-eyed discussions of impending disastrous policy they’re rarely found. The one exception I’d say is drive-by commenters just dropping short sentences decrying whatever the topic is as “fake news.” I’m guessing those are propagandist bots triggering off mentions of CNN, MSNBC, what have you.

May I also add a special holiday FUCK YOU to Susan Sarandon, the smug old hack safely enjoying a fine, non-GMO, cruelty-free, and locally-sourced, artisanal and small-batch bottle of wine far above the poors and all those despondent little people beneath her Manhattan penthouse.

      FUCK. YOU. BITCH.

      • MattPS

She got her just desserts, though: her husband filed for divorce.

      • JOHN MAYOR

A few years ago, I had a wonderful dream about Susan Sarandon! And in that dream, I had visited her… and sundry of her guests, and her pets… one wintry evening. And I recall a large golden colored dog (I believe, a golden retriever!)… and an older female teen… or twenty something girl! And although there were others, these are just a blur!
        .
Afterupon the departure of her guests… save, for the dog!… I had decided it was time for me to leave… and so, I had proceeded to gather by belondings, in an effort to head out!
        .
However… in attempting to do so, I discovered that my shoes were nowhere to be found!… and upon communicating with my beloved host (Susan!), I then learned that my missing shoes, was by design!… her design! And… was a subtle (and sweet!… and wordless!) message to me, that she desired my company… my “nocturnal embrace”! The which… I obliged!… and with much gratitude!
        .
When awakening from my dream, I had come to a rather peculiar realization… and that being, that she (and other females within her family!) had descended from a lineage, with a longstanding family tradition (whether on her mother’s side, or her father’s side… or maybe, both!) that entertained the practice of retaining the shoes of “desired male guests”! And!… that this was something that had gone on in quarters in Europe, for centuries! And I thought… how delicious!… how wonderful!… how enchanting! And I then thought, that she… my beloved!… our beloved!… was as if, the cosiest of fireplaces! And!… that porn… for her!… and souls like her!… is an ugly replacement for a more “enduring interlude”! What a gal, I thought!… what a love! And could only– can only!– desire the best for her!… and her’s!
        .
Well!… a couple of years after my most blissful dream, I happened upon a delightfully funny documentary that attempted to explain a “European phenomenon” within “historic homes”… no kidding!… wherein, shoes (of sundry sorts!) were “mysteriously hidden” in various areas of these quaint habitats (e.g., beneath floorboards!… and in the walls of attics!), that the storytellers were at a loss to explain! I laughed!… and I thought… I know something you don’t! And though I have virtually no facts to base my assumptions about these “mystery shoes”!… save, my splendid dream!… I am more than convinced– than not!– that the practice I have “envisaged”, is a historic custom!… and reality! And!… that the practice, is a more gracious overture to a desired male guest, than merely “debating” the course of an evening intimacy! That is, if both souls are of more “blessed minds”!… and are “obedient hearts”! It is the stuff of mature minds, and mature hearts!… of tenderness, and of repose! The stuff that brings grown men to tears!… and to contentment!
        .
Susan!… wherever you are!… I don’t know what all this dreaming has to do with this present U.S. Federal Election! But!… frankly!… I don’t care about this Federal Election!… save, for the hurt souls that may be missed, by the failures of either candidate! Nevertheless!… I do care about you!… and your concerns about America! And I value your input!… and if for no other reason, than to support your challenge of their complacency!
        .
Yes, Susan!… it hurts!… it hurts to find that such souls as these, have missed the small things in life!… the details!… the things that matter! And for thinking souls!… caring souls!… it’s a constant heartache!… a constant emptiness!… a constant grind!
        .
What does one do– many ask!– when they’re not listening!… when countless lives here… and over there (wherever!)!… are continually lost! Money!… and power!… have corrupted many!… and has ensnared righteousness!… and love! That is… so it would appear!
        .
But, Susan!… the love that is in you!… in us (i.e., for those who entertain such traditions of true love!… and reality!)!… is stronger than the mean-spiritedness that is in the world!
        .
As the greatest love once said:… “For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?” In other words… and for this great love!… the world is a poor exchange, for a human soul! And I agree!
        .
To close for now… Susan!… we must continue to hope, believe, and to love! And in our patient nurturing, we may yet salvage a wayfarer to the cause of justice!… and charity! And as for those who will remain deaf!… and blind, to the needs of others!… well!… the greatest love will soon arise, and make an end of their indifference! And we who are left… and without shoes!… will live for eternity!… in love!… and in true love!
        .
        Please!… no emails!

Well-stated AJD. That goes double for me!

    • I m okay with 2/3 of this – I would *not* blame people who voted 3rd party. But voting for Trump or not voting at all? Definitely blameworthy.

Why do I make a distinction? Voting for Trump caused harm by action. Not Voting at all is causing harm by inaction. But voting for Hillary, or any of the 3rd party candidates is not harm-causing.

I might even split hairs a bit, and not blame those who did not vote, but who would have voted for Trump . . .

Just because I want REAL CHANGE now doesn’t mean I was an asshole earlier.

The left doesn’t need to get into circular firing squads, we need to unite if anything.

    • Ernest Endevor

We live in a two party system. You have no idea what socialism means. Welcome to the ’60s. All this will do is tear down the Democratic party. I suggest you try to work within the system. Because you can’t beat it.

      • Brad Lathem

How’s that been working out? People my age are burdened with massive college debt, those that own houses are having to move their parents in with them to take care of them because of our shitty healthcare system, and the presidential cabinet to-be owns more wealth than a significant amount of the population.

Fuck your system, I reject it. It’s never done anything for me or anyone my age.

You can live in your two-party system all you want, I’ve not given up yet and will at least try for a better world.

#TrySocialism because there is a better way

        • forcebear

The two-party system is a natural consequence of First Past the Post voting. Gotta get rid of FPP if you want more parties like in a parliamentary system.

          • Brad Lathem

Tear the entire structure down for all I care. Time for change

          • Carl

Maybe socialism would catch on faster if its most vocal adherents didn’t turn into anarchists at the drop of a hat when they see an opportunity to look edgy in a comment section.

          • Brad Lathem

That’s a valid complaint about some of us, but not fair about all of us (who’ll vote straight D in every election, midterms included, just because we do what’s right).

          • forcebear

I didn’t tell you not to do it. I’m just letting you know what you’re up against.

        • Carl

it’s “let’s blow it the system” comments like this that make people think you’re going to fuck us over and make Trump a two term president. You want a better world? Do the work.

          • Brad Lathem

With all due respect, what are you suggesting?

To just keep trusting the process, and have faith that the status quo will eventually get better despite all evidence to the contrary, and the world I see around me today? Where has doing what we’ve always done gotten us?

What work have people failed to do that’s made the system fail us? I’ve voted in every election, every two years since I turned 18.

I’m willing to do the work, like I said I’ve gotten involved. But since the status quo has done nothing but fail I’m ready for something different, and social democracy gives me hope. I’ve joined a new party, gotten involved locally, getting a group started if I can at local University where I work.

I feel like I’m on the same side but those of us ready for a REAL change are viewed with slanted eyes and I don’t understand why. What work is it I should do exactly? Keep listening to the olds since they always know best? Clearly they don’t…

          • Carl

Vote more , whine less about the two party system you are stuck with whether you like it or not. Anything else you read into my comments is on you, not me.

        • Ernest Endevor

I’m not unsympathetic – my great uncle dynamited pit heads in Scotland and my family were coal miners – but that doesn’t work here. Look:
          http://time.com/4403112/unpublished-protest-photos-dnc-1968/
People died to try to stop the system. It can’t be done. We live in the system. I understand and salute your passion. We’re not at odds. All I would suggest is that the better way is to work in the system. Because that’s the only way that change can be made. For young people to enter our politics as fighters. Till now I have no idea what the Occupy Wall Street was about. Or what it achieved – nothing.

Hillary Clinton, back when she allowed herself to say what she thought, spoke of a vast right-wing conspiracy. She was vilified and mocked. But that conspiracy has grown to engulf our future. I take it that you’re a young man. Like you, when I was your age, I aspired to ideals – as I do now. But that’s not how politics works, or how nations work. I beg of you don’t reject the possible for the ideal. That’s what keeps the Republicans in power.

          • Brad Lathem

We’ve tried working in the system. The bad guys win. They’re winning more and more. They are the system. They ARE the “bad old days.”

Socialist revolutions have always been built upon discontent of the 99%, and thinking we couldn’t achieve one here because of the way things have always been seems like just giving up without a fight to me…

          • Ernest Endevor

Good for you. My great uncle was arrested and sent to jail. Win he was released he exiled himself to Australia. I met him when I was a child and he was an old man. With not much evidence to go on I believe that he was gay. All I would suggest is that you Republicans have taken over the country by working within the system. Couldn’t young Democrats?Socialists do the same?

          • Brad Lathem

I suspect we’re not all that all different but both emotional at this point. And tbh I don’t entirely follow you now. But yeah, I’m young and angry, and that’s OK and maybe even needed right now.

          • Ernest Endevor

Of course it is. It is always the duty of the young to rebel and demand justice. And almost always they will fail. I would urge you to read Les Miserables. I’m not being flip but offering an understanding of the past that will inform you of other revolutions.

        • JCF

“Fuck your system, I reject it.”

“Your”? Who’s “your”? This kind of hostility is not helpful, to coalition building.

          • Brad Lathem

Coalition building? For 8 years Obama tried to work with the GOP and their hostility paid off for them in dividends. Nobody on the left got anywhere by trying to build coalitions or work with obstructionists that won’t compromise.

More of the same won’t stop Trump and right-wing fascism. It’s time for the radical left to rise.

      • peterparker

I voted for Clinton in both the CA Primary and the General Election. I would have been thrilled to have her as POTUS. And I *loathe* the Bernie Bros who stupidly thought they could change everything in the weeks leading up to the General Election. They helped fuck everything up. But the Democratic Socialists who are embracing change now and working toward it now are to be commended. Sometimes timing is everything.

      • Oikos

I will disagree Earnest. Things are different after decades of corporate dominance in our govt. I was born in the 60s and have never seem anything like what we are facing. After this election and we need to do things differently. I don’t know what shape that will take but right now I will support any decent movement that takes on trumpism.

I have a good conscience because of what i did as well as most of the people that actually went out to vote with over 65 million of us, but for half of white america, the electors that voted for him, get no sympathy for what happens over the next 4 years.

9/11esque tragedy that could have been avoided. Its your fucking fault. The economy goes into another deep recession because of deregulation of wall street. Its your fucking fault. Women lose their right to an abortion, and/or RFRA laws become legal nationwide for LGBT people. Its your fucking fault. You lose coverage of health insurance because republicans repealed ACA. its your fucking fault. And so on with a bunch of possible scenarios to happen.

The article pic is more tolerable since i installed the pussygrab blocker that omits the picture of his face and replaces it with a kitten.

    • DisT

Do the 21% nonwhites and 14% LGBTs who voted for Trump get no sympathy for the next 4 years too?

      • Blake J Butler

If you vote against your rights, selfishly suit your own needs while stabbing everyone in your community in the back including yourself, then yes they do not get any sympathy either.

I would suggest that they do some soul searching for people that are going to actually sympathize with what they’ve done.

Black, Latino, Women, LGBT, all of the people in those groups that voted for him, do not get sympathy if they voted for him despite knowing who he is and what he stands for, and who he associates himself with.

So effective January 20, our nation will be under military occupation.

When we take back our country, there are three changes we need to push through ASAP:

    1. No Republican shall ever again exercise the right to vote.

      ) Aaron strikes the Nile, the waters turn to blood;
      2) Swarms of frogs overrun the land;
      3) Lice infest all men and beasts. Still, Pharaoh remains stubborn;
      4) Hordes of wild animals invade the cities,
      5) a pestilence kills the domestic animals,
      6) painful boils afflict the Egyptians.
      7) Fire and ice combine to descend from the skies as a devastating hail. Still, “the heart of Pharaoh was hardened and he would not let the children of Israel go; as G‑d had said to Moses.”
      8) a swarm of locusts devours all the crops and greenery;
      9) a thick, palpable darkness envelops the land.
      10) all the firstborn of Egypt are killed at the stroke of midnight of the 15th of the month of Nissan.

Sounds good to me. Especially fond of numbers 6 and 7.

The electoral college was set up to function just as it should, as a check and balance against the exact situation we are in today. The fact that the electors today are fucking spineless weasels is the reason the EC didn’t work the way the founding fathers intended it to.

    • danolgb

Actually, no.. the Electoral College was set up to protect slavery. It was always partisan hacks voting for their party’s candidate. Any notion otherwise is romanticized fiction.

      • Natty Enquirer

Exactly. The “College” is an abstraction. It’s not a deliberative body where arguments are made and members persuaded.

      • justmeeeee

Read what the smart dudes who set it up had to say about it.

        • danolgb

The article I posted covers that. The only founding father that hinted at that was Hamilton. That the Electoral College has no deliberative process pretty much throws that theory out of the window. The electors have always been partisans chosen for their loyalty to the party. It has never overturned an election. There is far more evidence of it being a compromise to slave-holding states and nothing more.

    • Sam_Handwich

      • thatotherjean

Disproportionately? When the Electoral College was set up, white people were the only people who counted, period. Well off, property-owning, male white people, at that.

        • edrex

yes. it was precicely proportional to white voters.

          • IamM

No, slaves counted, albeit 5/8ths as much as white people, for the purpose of determining how much influence a state’s white property owning men had in the House and the electoral college.

      • UrsusArctos

White slave-holders, dontcha mean? The 3/5 people counted for apportionment but couldn’t vote. The South has had it’s thumb on the scale from the start. There’s a reason a long string of early presidents came from plantation states.

            True. Also, usually overstated.

        • edrex

no. just when you put the seat down.

    • TallBearNC

We survived regan, 2 bushes, etc. we will survive this. Once trump fucks it all up, he will lose support in 4-8 yrs. hopefully 4.

      • Richard, another Canuck

I hope he loses the house and senate in two..and the precedency (/s) in 4.

      • kevin vincent

That’s what I been saying we survive plenty and Trump is apathetic at worst towards the LGBT people plus we are very low priority because we would being backlash as seen in Indiana abf NC enough that Texas is running from similar laws

        • Todd20036

I’m not worried about Trump making anti LBGT laws.

I’m worried about Pence et al. making anti LBGT laws, and Trump signs them because he wants to get back to his golf game.

          • kevin vincent

I’m far less scared of Pence he caved within a week in w red state good luck handling the entire nation who already hates your guts

        • danolgb

“we survive plenty”.. Just because you’ve managed to survive, doesn’t mean everyone survived. Many of our community didn’t survive Reagan. Many people didn’t survive the actions of Bush I. Many didn’t survive the actions of Bush II.

          • kevin vincent

Many didn’t survive Bush II period but we survived and we got stronger and now have the people behind us. Abbott has already shown sighns of caving on the issue he saw NC

      • UrsusArctos

I’m hoping the GOP thinks they have done all the damage they can in 2 years and impeaches him. The party probably feels 2 years will be enough time to pass for Pence to be electable. Ugh.
Yep, Nixon and Regan are eligible for the “Piss on Their Graves Club”. Bush 1, Bush 2, & Drumpf are qualified but not dead yet.

    • OdieDenCO

not tonight honey, I have to clean my musket.

There is so much character, love, and human decency in this post… I really have no words, other than thank you for living…

  • Gerry Fisher

It would have taken 40 electors of extraordinary courage in states that don’t immediately replace you for not submitting to the voters choice to have accomplished this task. It would have been herculean. I do think impeachment would be a “cleaner” option, in that we would have honored the original intent of the vote. That being said, 1) He needs to do something impeachable, 2) The Republicans in Congress will fight impeachment until they’ve used him to the max, 3) He can do a LOT of damage between now and when he’s impeached, and 4) Then we have to deal with Pence.

  • Lazycrockett

New Full Frontal with Samantha Bee is on tonight.

  • Moebym of the Resistance

Those seven votes against Hillary are just a slap in the face after the kick in the gut that was 11/9.

I won’t repost my EC rants here, but I’ll just say that there are so many reasons why its existence is not only pointless, but harmful, that it would take forever to list them all.

  • Phil in FLL

Well, as I look downthread I can see pages and pages of Bill Perdue ranting about Hillary’s non-existent presidency. Bill’s psychological predicament puts us in mind of an important social problem that America must confront, now more than ever:

    https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3d3a168e747e7c2bbc0a61f2aa8ad7e0343099c913534c15614ab8294646c82b.jpg

  • Just as I predicted. There weren’t enough faithless electors to deprive Trump of the presidency, and more electors abandoned Hillary than abandoned Trump. Trump lost two and Hillary lost five – 4 in Washington and 1 in Hawaii. And she would have lost more, except the faithless votes in Colorado, Minnesota and Maine were disallowed. I figured that was what was going to happen, because Hillary is incredibly qualified for the job and won the popular vote by almost three million votes, while Trump is temperamentally unfit and has no experience in office. Plus he got help from Russia. So of course Hillary would lose more electors that he would, because everything else about this election has been completely nuts. So why not this too?

    • BrianQTD

It does show that there were some bitter folks on the left who held Bernie’s loss against her. That’s very interesting because it’s more proof that part of the reason she lost was because some progressives and traditionally Democratic voters had a tantrum.

    • JCF

Again: the faithless Hillary electors were a STRATEGY (obviously, not a successful one). The theory was to vote for a non-Trump Republican (e.g. Colin Powell or John Kasich) to, essentially, shame the Trump electors: “See, we’re putting country before Party, why can’t you put a SANE member of your Party ahead of BSC Drumpf?”

Perhaps if the Democrats had been more principled about not rigging the election for Hillary, or if they had had the nerve to confront the truth about Islam’s war against western civilization throughout history from AD 700 to the present day, we would have the luxury of worrying about which bathrooms people use, who buys Wedding Cakes from Whom, and other such things.

As it is, the election went to someone who will at least acknowledge the problem with (radicals supported by moderates?) islam. Trump doesn’t hate LGBT, but if he did try to oppress them on behalf of conservatives he would have major push back from mainstream America. This election was NOT a mandate against LGBT, it was a mandate against islam & illegal immigration. If you are in favor of either of those, you deserve no sympathy.

    • danolgb

      Take your bigotry elsewhere.

In the long long haul of history — the long haul — there has never been a period where goodness has not prevailed.

There is no divine plan for things to turn out right. Any good things that have happened is because people have had to continually fight for it.

        • another_steve

The reason that “goodness” (understood as “most useful”) ultimately prevails is that what we instinctively understand as “good’ is what is most conducive to our prospering as a species.

Gods and deities need not apply.

This is pure biological determinism in action.

    _______________
    .
    .
Barring some miraculous outcome, come January 6, 2017 (when Congress meets!)!… or, when BETTER LEGAL MINDS have finally determined to put an end to the fiasco known as the 2016 U.S. Election!… millions of American citizens will have suffered a Federal Election loss, because a thing called an Electoral College, has systemically breached the Rights of citizens to a “DIRECT ELECTION”, and, “ONE VOTER, ONE VOTE”! And because, some OLIGARCHS have decided… many years ago!… to “R-I-G” the Election of a U.S. Presidential Candidate, by instituting a mechanism to undermine a NATIONALWIDE DEMOCRATIC PLURALITY! And that mechanism will continue, unless a “judicious judicial judicare” puts the boots to this U-N-D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C Electoral College injustice!
    .
However!… however ASTONISHING one might perceive the present Electoral College to be to the “Principals of Democracy”, none of this compares to the DIABOLIC NATURE inhere within the very “democracies (so-said/ so-called!)” which a-c-t-u-a-l-l-y a-d-h-e-r-e to DIRECT ELECTIONS, and which have adopted a “ONE VOTER, ONE VOTE” system to elect Candidates into Office! And I’ll demonstrate this, by revealing the I-N-S-A-N-I-T-Y that was– and is!– the Brexit vs Bremain referendum!
    .
How is it “DEMOCRATIC”– e.g.!– when the Brexit Referendum “win” of Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, was “won” W-I-T-H-O-U-T the E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L M-I-N-I-M-U-M of 50+% of the T-O-T-A-L N-U-M-B-E-R of ELIGIBLE BRITISH VOTERS’ VOTES?… AND!… NOT JUST, BY WAY OF A MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO’VE DECIDED TO CAST A VOTE! In other words, how can L-E-S-S than the E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L M-I-N-I-M-U-M of 50+% of the T-O-T-A-L N-U-M-B-E-R of eligible British voters’ votes, constitute a “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y”? It is– de facto!– I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E (i.e., without God!)! And thus, the Brexit vote is a further example of a “P-S-E-U-D-O-D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-S-E-U-D-O-P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y” “winning the day”!
    .
To compare the Brexit Referendum to an election of a Candidate within a Electoral District… if fifty thousand eligible voters decide not to vote in a District that is composed/ comprised of one hundred thousand eligible voters… and five Candidates are running!… the math would suggest, that NO CANDIDATE could possibly obtain a “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y” from the remaining fifty thousand eligible voters who have cast a vote! Unless!… and of course!… A H-I-J-A-C-K-E-D, AND E-L-I-T-I-S-T P-O-L-I-T-I-C-A-L P-R-O-C-E-S-S SIMPLY MARGINALIZES THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SHOWN UP TO VOTE; AND, THEN, DICTATES THAT THEIR “NO SHOW”/ ABSENCE, CANNOT– AND SHOULD NOT!– BE HELD “B-I-N-D-I-N-G” IN SOME FASHION, OR FORM (AND SOME “NO SHOWS” ARE AS SUCH, DUE TO DISABILITY, AND/ OR INFIRMITY!… NOT TO MENTION, THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN SYSTEMICALLY AND SYSTEMATICALLY DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, DUE TO THEIR Y-O-U-T-H!)! FOR!… OUT OF SIGHT, IS OUT OF MIND!
    .
Simply put!… and to return to the Brexit Referendum!… the said total of 17,410,742. “winning” “pro Brexit” British voters, plus the said total of 16,141,242. “losing” “pro Bremain” eligible British voters, who– together!– showed up at the “Referendum ballot boxes (i.e., 33,551,984 eligible British voters!)”, are in contrast to the ACTUAL TOTAL of 46,499,537 eligible British voters (see Google result, Electoral Commission | Provisional electorate figures published!… AND, LET ALONE, THE EVEN HIGHER ACTUAL TOTAL NUMBER OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS’ VOTES TO BE HAD, IF MANY OF THE DISABLED/ INFIRMED BRITISH CITIZENS WERE “ACCOMMODATED”!… AND!… IF MANY BRITISH YOUTH WEREN’T THE TARGETS OF “P-O-L-I-T-I-C-A-L A-N-D S-O-C-I-A-L P-A-T-E-R-N-A-L-I-S-T-I-C A-G-E-I-S-M”!)!… and reveals a deficit of 12,947,553. of the ACTUAL TOTAL NUMBER of eligible British voters, and a deficit of 5,839,027. eligible British voters for even a “B-A-R-E M-I-N-I-M-U-M M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y W-I-N (i.e., 46,499,537. ÷ 2 = 23,249,768.5… + .5 = [23,249,769.] – 17,410,742. = 5,839,027.!)”! AND THEREFORE, THE COMBINED “WINNERS” AND “LOSERS” TALLY OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS, S-H-O-U-L-D N-O-T B-E M-A-D-E S-Y-N-O-N-Y-M-O-U-S W-I-T-H T-H-E A-C-T-U-A-L T-O-T-A-L- N-U-M-B-E-R O-F E-L-I-G-I-B-L-E B-R-I-T-I-S-H V-O-T-E-R-S/ V-O-T-E-S!… AND!… THE “WINNING TALLY”, S-H-O-U-L-D N-O-T B-E M-A-D-E S-Y-N-O-N-Y-M-O-U-S W-I-T-H T-H-E “M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y W-I-L-L” O-F T-H-E E-L-I-G-I-B-L-E V-O-T-E-R-S O-F B-R-I-T-A-I-N! AND!… THEREFORE!… THE “WINNING TALLY” OF ELIGIBLE BRITISH VOTERS– AT LEAST!– SHOULD BE MET WITH A C-O-N-S-T-I-T-U-T-I-O-N-A-L (AND TORT!) C-H-A-L-L-E-N-G-E (TO START!) FOR THE F-L-A-G-R-A-N-T B-R-E-A-C-H OF THE “L-E-G-I-T-I-M-A-T-E” “P-R-I-N-C-I-P-L-E-S O-F D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y (I.E., AND E.G., IN THE F-A-I-L-U-R-E OF THE BREXIT REFERENDUM RESULT TOTAL, TO ACHIEVE EVEN A B-A-R-E M-I-N-I-M-U-M M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y T-A-L-L-Y, FOR A ‘M-A-J-O-R-I-T-Y W-I-N’!)”!
    .
And so!… the Brexit “win”… like the “wins” seen so often in our PSEUDODEMOCRATIC PSEUDOELECTIONS (AND EVEN IN ELECTIONS WHEREIN SAID “PLURALITY TOTALS”– E.G., IN AMERICA!– MIGHT BE FAVORED OVER ELECTORAL COLLEGE “WINS”!)!… I-S A S-H-A-M!! And!… it escapes me, why “plurality-driven citizens” from respective “democracies (so-called!)” from around the world, haven’t challenged these scurrilous, and shameful “F-A-U-X P-U-B-L-I-C R-E-F-E-R-E-N-D-A”!… AND P-S-E-U-D-O-E-L-E-C-T-I-O-N-S!… AND!… haven’t brought civil proceedings against any and all institutions, which have allowed these G-L-O-B-A-L F-A-R-C-E-S to continue! And thus… re the Brexit Referendum result!… it’s my contention, that the Brexit Referendum is defeatable… AS IS THE 2016 U.S. ELECTION!… due to it’s inherent S-Y-S-T-E-M-I-C V-I-O-L-A-T-I-O-N of the “L-E-G-I-T-I-M-A-T-E” “PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY”! But then… and again!… this would require BETTER LEGAL MINDS!
    .
This horrendous situation involving our PSEUDODEMOCRATIC PSEUDOELECTIONS, has resulted in “winning Candidates” winning (if, indeed, Pluralities are recognized!) with as little as 1/5th of the total number of eligible voters’ votes!… AND!… THEN DARING, TO CALL SUCH RESPECTIVE “WINS”, D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C! A-N-D W-O-R-S-E!… and in the case of the Brexit Referendum result (AND “PSEUDOWIN”!)!… such a “W-I-N” could– POTENTIALLY!– C-O-M-P-R-O-M-I-Z-E T-H-E S-E-C-U-R-I-T-Y O-F A-N E-N-T-I-R-E N-A-T-I-O-N! And so!… it’s no wonder why so many citizens within our respective “democracies (so-called!)” hate the elections process!… and!… hate Public Referenda!
    .
And!… to add Elections insult to Elections injury, there are “Parties” within countries… and again, composed of “winning Candidates” who have “won” with L-E-S-S than the E-S-S-E-N-T-I-A-L M-I-N-I-M-U-M needed for a “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y”!… whose leadership cannot be chosen D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C-A-L-L-Y by the PEOPLE (e.g., in Canada!)!… and O-N-L-Y, by the Party (although, this is not to detract from the serious failings of the Elections Process in America, in the selection of America’s President!)! And further, rather than have the brightest!… the best!… “winning Candidates” from all across a country– and, from across a legislature’s floor!– forming Executive Cabinets (and in Canada– e.g.– composed of Ministers of Federal Departments, or Provincial Ministries!)!… THROUGH A NON PARTY-BASED LEGISLATURE OR PARLIAMENT (and something, incidentally, that municipalities have been doing for generations!… A-N-D, W-O-R-L-D-W-I-D-E)!… our current “PARTY-BASED DEMOCRACIES” have chosen, instead– A-N-D V-I-R-T-U-A-L-L-Y!– GANGS, CLIQUES, AND “P-S-E-U-D-O-S-O-C-I-A-L I-N-T-E-R-E-S-T-S”, TO ACT AS “GO-BETWEENS” FOR PARTY-BASED “OLIGARCHIC BACKROOM BOYZ”!
    .
But!… if all of this wasn’t bad enough, there’s no “NONE OF THE ABOVE” option on millions of voters’ ballots (AND “B-I-N-D-I-N-G”!… AS A PREREQUISITE!)!… nor, an “AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION” of the “NO SHOWS (i.e., eligible voters who have NOT cast a vote!)” to “B-I-N-D-I-N-G” “NONE OF THE ABOVE BALLOTS (inasmuch, as such ‘NO SHOWS’, can’t be translated as being ‘F-O-R’ any Candidate!)”! (BUT!… PLEASE NOTE!… IF OUR “NO SHOWS”– AS SUCH!– ARE DUE TO OUR P-O-L-I-T-I-C-A-L A-N-D S-O-C-I-A-L I-N-A-B-I-L-I-T-Y, O-R U-N-W-I-L-L-I-N-G-N-E-S-S, TO ADDRESS THE VOTER NEEDS OF OUR DISABLED/ INFIRMED!… AND, OUR YOUTH!… THEN SUCH “INABLED”, OR “UNWILLING”, SHOULD BE “HELPED” RE THEIR “I-N-A-B-I-L-T-Y”!… OR “HELPED” RE THEIR “U-N-W-I-L-L-I-N-G-N-E-S-S”!) And!… had the “NONE OF THE ABOVE” and the “TRANSLATED NO SHOW” provisions been addressed, many “NO SHOWS” would have shown up to vote (for fear of receiving a M-A-N-A-D-A-T-E-D “BINDING” “AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION”!)! And!… if combined “NO SHOW TRANSLATIONS”, together with directly cast “NONE OF THE ABOVE BALLOTS” were implemented (wherein– TOGETHER!– these OUTNUMBER the votes cast for any respective “running Candidate”!), this combined tally could have meant the introduction of “lottery lists” of Candidates within respective Districts (preselected!… and the members in which, would not be eligible to run as “running Candidates”!)!… from which, our “winners” could have then been chosen! And thereby!… E-F-F-E-C-T-I-N-G F-U-L-L R-E-P-R-E-S-E-N-T-A-T-I-O-N F-O-R E-V-E-R-Y S-I-N-G-L-E E-L-I-G-I-B-L-E V-O-T-E-R, A-N-D V-O-T-E!
    .
And so… and given the “politcal fair” we’ve received from every major “Party”, I ask you:… Should we be fearful of a “lottery list”, if a TRUE PLURALITY (i.e., with respect to my hypothetic model!) has denied all “running Candidates”?
    .
All one need ensure in the establishment of a “lottery list”, is the institution of PROPER SECURITY BACKGROUND CHECKS for “listed Candidates”, and the institution of “PROPER” “LISTED PREQUALIFICATIONS”!
    .
To return again to Brexit!… to juxtapose the just aforenoted “plurality template” onto Referenda!… and onto the Brexit Referendum, in particular!… if the directly cast “NONE OF THE ABOVE BALLOTS”, combined with the “TRANSLATED NO SHOWS”, OUTWEIGHED the votes cast for either the Brexit or Bremain scenarios, then NEITHER Brexit, nor Bremain, would be– DEMOCRATICALLY!– left on the table! And the MPs of the British Parliament would then be forced to renew their respective individual approaches, and collective approach, re their “arrangement” with the EU!… and, their respective dialogues, and collective dialogue, with the citizens of Britain!
    .
    And given… and in contrast to the abovenoted!… in the light of the process that was implementated for the Brexit Referendum (though, yet to be revealed “officially”!)!… WELL!… you have the makings of a P-O-O-R E-X-C-U-S-E F-O-R A D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C R-E-F-E-R-E-N-D-U-M!… A-N-D A P-O-O-R “R-A-T-I-O-N-A-L B-A-S-I-S” F-O-R T-H-E R-E-D-I-R-E-C-T-I-O-N O-F T-H-E F-U-T-U-R-E C-O-U-R-S-E F-O-R A-N E-N-T-I-R-E C-O-U-N-T-R-Y!!
    .
And so… and to sum up!… what we have, presently, are “P-S-E-U-D-O-D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-I-E-S (IF EVEN THESE CAN BE ACHIEVED!… E.G., A HILLARY CLINTON PSEUDODEMOCRATIC PLURALITY!)” IN THE G-U-I-S-E OF “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C-A-L-L-Y E-L-E-C-T-E-D” CANDIDATES! An intolerable situation!… and deserving of both CONSTITUTIONAL CHALLENGES, and TORT ACTION! And!… A-N-Y O-T-H-E-R A-C-C-E-P-T-E-D P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y OTHER THAN A “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T-I-C P-L-U-R-A-L-I-T-Y” ACCEPTED BY A PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATE, AND/ OR BY A PROSPECTIVE VOTER (AND BASED UPON THE “L-E-G-I-T-I-M-A-T-E” “PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY”, AS AFOREMENTIONED!… AND OTHER, THAN ONE INSTITUTED BY GOD!)!, IS A CANDIDATE, OR VOTER, WHO IS EITHER BLIND TO THE “LEGITIMATE” “PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY”, OR WHO IS A TRAITOR TO THE “LEGITIMATE” “PRINCIPLES OF DEMOCRACY”! AND!… WHO IS EITHER BLIND, OR A TRAITOR, TO THE COMMON GOOD OF THE PEOPLE!
    .
THEREFORE, THE “J-U-S-T ESTABLISHMENT” OF “T-R-U-E DEMOCRATIC PLURALITIES” WITHIN OUR RESPECTIVE REFERENDA, AND ELECTIONS PROCESSES, IS F-U-N-D-A-M-E-N-T-A-L TO THE VERY REALIZATION OF “D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y”!… AND!… WITHOUT WHICH, WE ARE SUBJECT TO MERE OLIGARCHIC WHIM!

  • It was always a tall hurdle. I don’t think many believed it would be successful. It was, to me, part of my bargaining stage in this depressing trauma. I’m mostly resigned to the fact that efforts to normalize what is not normal, combined with apathy, ignorance, and a basic skewing of what truth and reality mean, leaves us with no future but President Trump. I do, however, still have a bargaining chip out there, where my mind conjures the potential pitfalls Trump could face on his way to January 20th. Barring that, I remain convinced that he’ll quit or be bounced before his term is up.

    • another_steve

If I thought Donald Trump were a serious politician truly interested in governing, I’d be mighty depressed indeed. But I don’t believe that. I believe he’s a Reality TV businessman huckster who’s riding — for personal profit– the wave of angst and unease that many Americans are experiencing today.

Like all waves, this current phenomenon will settle and come to an end.

We’ll all require fortitude to ride it out, though.

  • ByronK

Maybe its the connection with the name of the lube I used years ago but the association of Trump and “glide” leaves me very unsettled.

      Where’s Hillary in this thing?

Not sure but maybe next to the woman holding the Michelle speech sign.

This surprises nobody whatsoever. Now that this event is behind us, we have to figure out what we really can do.

    • Rt1583

I’m not so much worried about what they can do because it can be undone.

What worries me is whether or not democrats/liberals can and will bring about decisive defeats at mid-term and the next presidential cycle.

As bad as it sounds I’m hoping that Trump and his monkey house screw things up badly enough that it can’t be ignored and that people on both sides of the political spectrum will do what needs to be done to undo it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

  • SDG

Bunch of cowards! Feel for my American friends… so glad I am not there anymore. But I don’t think that ANYONE is going to be immune from this.

  • Rt1583

The GOP fucked themselves and the rest of the Country by allowing their freak show lineup during the preliminaries.

They diluted their base enough that the man they didn’t want only needed a relatively minor percentage to grab the ticket and in this electoral revolt they still would have been too divided to manage anything decisive.

  • leastyebejudged

Can we dispense with any pretense that the system is about anything but the highest bidder ?

    • JOHN MAYOR

The system is MORE… M-U-C-H M-O-R-E!… than just about the highest bidder! The unfortunate REALITY– of course!– is that many have made it about being just about the highest bidder! But, N-O!… these don’t get to “win the day”!… and, to FORCE US to capitulate/ to give up/ to throw in the towel!… and, whether “t-h-e-s-e” be Republicans, Democrats, or otherwise!
      .
Lastly, the successful defeat of this series of evils (including… but, above and beyond!… the Electoral College!), is through careful/ thoughtful Constitutional and Tort judicious judicial judicare, by BETTER LEGAL MINDS! A R-E-A-L C-H-A-N-G-E is about to happen within America’s Political Infrastructure (and N-O!… not by way of Donald Trump!), that will see a dramatic change to the way America and Americans have been voting! And if some Americans don’t at least “feel” that this is in the works, then such haven’t been paying close enough attention to the quite heated debate associated with this nigh complete 2016 Election process!
      .
This process in not over!… and MANY legal minds are S-T-I-L-L hard at work attempting to effect a change to what has happened thus far!… and!… to what is projected to happen, in the future! OUR JOB… N-O-W!… is to follow the LEGAL ARGUMENTS, and to back the “LEGAL HORSE” that/ which has the best chance of crossing the “finish line”! Amateurs may have “quaint reflections” on what has happened!… but, time has long past, for our need for further quaint reflections! It’s time to F-I-S-H!… OR CUT THE BAIT!!… AND!… THE CRAP!!

SHAME! Thank you Electoral College Republican traitors. you just killed off 300 years of American democracy.

    • JOHN MAYOR

No, no no!… it’s not the fault of the Electoral College’s “Republican traitors”!… it’s the fault of the perverse Constitutional prescription that actually allows for Electors to begin with!… and, the inability– so far!– for the RIGHT LEGAL MINDS to state this case, before our U.S. Supreme Court! But!… things are about to change! Arguments about the TRUE “Principles of Democracy” are about to go forward, that will reveal the UNDEMOCRATIC/ PSEUDODEMOCRATIC state/ condition that we’ve been living in!… and, for over two hundred years!
